The apartments were spacious and had modern appliances, storage, and neutral colors. The common areas we saw on our tour included a dining area, library, lunchroom, store, pool, gym and pub. It was cold when we toured but we could see walking trails and were told about gardening areas. We have looked at other communities and none so far have had the range of events and activities that Whitney Center did. They did a great job answering our questions. By dinner time the kitchen is sometimes out of the meal you wanted and the desserts are substituted by dinner. There are no special diets because all food is frozen. The soup comes from a famous chain but has high salt content. There are daily calendars posted for the day's events that are often canceled or moved to another day. The staff is wonderful, hard-working, and friendly. Atria does the best it can. Corporate needs to read these reviews and take action.

Unfortunately several of the folks near my husband's room had dementia and screamed much of the day, which made for a difficult healing environment. We were most interested in physical therapy and although the practitioner was fine, he was often working with 3-4 patients at a time. There were several occasions where he just couldn't fit my husband in. We would not use this facility again.

My mom ended up under hospice care while there and would get controlled class 1 narcotic medication through the placement of patches on her chest and those would go missing in the night. I will never forgive myself for putting her there. And, yeah, it cost her $17,000.00 a month. For that. For those people. For that for profit corporation. Don't do it. Just don't. It has taken me 3 years to get over the pain enough to even say this.

This particular homemaker was found to be sleeping twice in the five Mondays she was there, and constantly on her phone. She wouldn't even sit in the same room as my grandfather because she was too busy playing on her phone and making phone calls. He often was never fed This past Monday she just never showed up. She did not even have the decency to call to let us know so we could make other arrangements. Also, The Agency on Aging never called us either to let us know that nobody was coming that day. So instead my 95 year old paralyzed grandfather was home alone from 7:30 until 12:00 until the next care taker came in. When we found this out (the next day!!) we called The Agency on Aging they fumbled around coming up with any excuse they could think of. This company is a disgrace, and if you are thinking of having them take care of anyone that you care about, you should definitely look elsewhere. Everyone from their management to the caretakers themselves are a joke!
