They have excellent roast duck as well as other prepared food options like chicken. Their prepared food looked better than at least one similar grocery store that I saw. Their store is organized and has a lot of good food. It looks like they have a lot of good produce. I appreciated their different options for tofu.

Sometimes when I'm trying to find "international" ingredients at Mariano's or something it's hit or miss. I found what I needed here and it was a fairly quick trip--I don't think I was in store more than 20 minutes. The store is small, and very very crowded. Aisles are about as wide as a single person facing forward. This isn't a place where you're going to get a shopping cart down an aisle. The prices are good. I got a head of Napa cabbage for 99 cents per pound, and when I go to my neighborhood store it's usually closer to $3-4 or more per pound. Since it was such a steal I added hot and sour soup to my menu for the week. There's a parking lot at this store. It's one way, and you must enter from Archer. DO NOT enter the wrong way or you won't be able to park--the spaces are angled and there's not enough space between the building and the fencing to turn yourself around. There are only about ten parking spaces here so I'm sure it gets filled pretty quick, but when I was here I was the only car parked here. There's street parking which can be pretty chancy, but maybe I'm just speaking from the perspective of someone who was here on a busy Sunday in Chinatown.

Something seemed wrong immediately after taking a bite. Within about 2 minutes of eating them, my body rejected it and I threw up almost right away. I was not the only one affected either. Everyone who ate them with me ended up getting sick as well. This was not just a case of food not tasting good. In my experience, this felt like a serious food safety issue. The oysters tasted off, and the reaction happened so quickly that it was obvious something was not right. Getting sick from food you paid for is bad enough, but it becomes even more upsetting when multiple people have the same reaction. What made this worse is that I reported the situation through Uber, explained what happened, and expected the issue to be taken seriously from a customer resolution standpoint. Instead, Uber acknowledged the complaint, said they would investigate, but still refused to provide a refund or meaningful resolution. That is extremely disappointing when the complaint involves people getting sick after eating food that appeared unsafe. I am posting this so others can be aware before ordering from here, especially the oysters. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend avoiding them entirely. No one should have to worry about getting sick immediately after eating their food, and no customer should be left dealing with this without proper accountability.

When you're craving something besides White Castle and it's after midnight where do you go?…read more Well, if you're like me you think shrimp. And when you think shrimp after midnight you think of Lawrence's. To be fair I eat here about once every 10 years. Not because the food is bad or because in Chicago there are literally 100's of places open after midnight where you can get just about any kind of food. It's because I've been living in Phoenix for the last 30 years. That being said when I did live in Chicago for the previous 30 years I've eaten here often. Very often. I probably started eating here before I could drive with my father. And I'm happy to say that other than the building and its surroundings the recipes haven't changed. I've also never had anything other than the shrimp and fries. And the shrimp are still large, freshly fried with a cornmeal breading that is exactly what I'm craving when I come here. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. And the customers are probably some of the most loyal customers around. Why 4 stars. The breaded French fries. I prefer the fresh cut fries you get from our hot dog and beef stands to breaded fries. Second maybe crinkle cut but breaded takes it down a notch. Hey, Northsiders, you're all welcome here. I even wore my Cubs shirt.

Once we checked in with the hostess for our reservation we waited ~10 minutes to be seated and quickly greeted by our waiter Guillermo (so sweet and very friendly). We ordered our adult beverages (both very refreshing and tasty especially on a hot summer day) and flautas as an appetizer. The flautas are definitely big enough to share or as an entree. Guillermo provided great food selections and we decided on the quesabirrias and Molcajete. We were both silent for the first 5 minutes because we were enjoying our meal...the flavors were exquisite! Make sure to make a reservation...this was at 5:15 on a Saturday and it was packed! Walk-ins were definitely waiting for a table. Also be prepared that the noise level is a tad loud and the tables are close together.

Unfortunately today, the service was really bad. Liz, was our waitress and consistently showed me attitude, just saying no to things, etc. Just not a good experience at all. I am fine with hearing no, but there's a way to talk when you're hospitality well. On to the food. Red sauce cheese enchilada - good Green sauce cheese echilada - others loved it, but it's too tangy for me Guacamole - fine and better with fresh jalepenos added Veggie Tacos - meh.. probably the worst item of the day Veggie Quesadilla - it was fine to good Based on this trip, I think I would still come back and just hope to not have the same waitress. Btw, the rest of the staff, walking around were very nice and thoughtful, but how much do you really interact with them. So anyway, we'll see how it goes.
