My family and I have been to Sean's Shack about 10 times now and have had a 5 star experience each time. We enjoy bringing our dog and sitting outside on the patio where there are beautiful planters, shady spots, and some nice music. The food is excellent and tastes amazing every single time. Not only are we appreciative of the delicious food, but we are equally grateful for the top notch customer service. Chris couldn't be more friendly, upbeat, and accommodating. He is always smiling and going out of his way to make sure we have everything we need. Chris comes outside to check on us, delivers our food, offers refills, and insists on cleaning up our plates when we finish so we don't have to go back inside. You couldn't ask for a more hardworking, welcoming, and enjoyable employee. We have also had the opportunity to meet and chat with the owner, Sean. You can tell he is very proud of his restaurant. He took the time to tell us about their fresh/organic ingredients and homemade recipes - it's obvious he's passionate about what he does. Sean even brought out a cup of soft serve ice cream for our dog on one of our visits. I ordered the Carolina dog and a cup of chili. The dog was great. I got the beef. They also have pork dogs. The chili is spicy hot. If you don't like it mouth-burning hot, don't order it. It is good however. The 5-way chili mt wide ordered isn't Cincinnati style. I would suggest they offer a mild option for the 80% that doesn't like spicy. I'm going to say this up front. Sean's Shack is the best kept secret in Raleigh. I could write an hour long review. Since I've started going there, it is a constant option weekly. Sunday brunch, Weeknight snack, you name it. The staff make you feel like you're at home. Sure the setting is a little weird, but you get over that quickly when the food hits. Burgers are slightly above average, sides are solid, service is quick and thorough. Where this place shines is absolutely it's chicken. I'm hard pressed to find better chicken in Raleigh. Everything here is scratch made and you can tell. Sauces, seasonings, coatings... all out of Chondru's kitchen. Shakes are superlative. Breakfast is up there with any diner or brunch spot you can find. Maybe Metro Diner or Another Broken Egg surpasses this. MAYBE. Do yourself a favor. Visit Sean's Shack and start with an order of Chicken Minis. Garlic or Cajun. Take a deep breath, and sink your teeth into it. It's transformative. Every single person I've brought as a guest and had their eyes fly open wide. "Sean" treats his guests like family. He really does. He demands that this attitude cascade down through his entire operation, you can feel it when you walk in the door. You can tell he knows how to build a following. You wont believe your eyes when you see how affordable it is to eat there either. I can't say enough about Sean's Shack in a crowded food scene in Raleigh. This is the brightest of stars. Thoroughly impressed. The burgers were great, service was fast, and everyone was very nice. We brought our toddler with us and needed a high chair. Do yourself a favor this morning and go get breakfast tacos, sourdough toast and home fries from Sean's Shack. Have not had tacos this good since we moved from Houston 8 years ago. We were exhausted from being in town from a softball tournament and just wanted to hang at our Airbnb for the evening. We didn't want to break the bank but were starving and decided to look for some quick delivery food. We stumbled across Sean's Shack and quickly decided that we would give it a shot. I had the sourdough burger and my guy had the california skillet. We got our food super quick and it was delicious. It's totally one of those places we will order from again when we are in town and want something that it delicious and priced well. You could tell the burger was good quality, the bread was delicious and held up well to the sauce and toppings. The frisco sauce was on point. I had the Cajun fries and they had a good crisp and tasted great. Not overly seasoned. I didn't try the California skillet, but my guy said it was delicious as well, (and he is a breakfast connoisseur .) Weird thing to like, but they have the crispiest, most non-greasy, hottest, tater tots! I also love their hotdogs. They are just so good and they taste grilled. My husband and I are hot dog connoisseurs, so if we say we like a place's hot dogs, trust me, they are good! And the prices here can't be beat. We decided to give this place a try and we were pleasantly surprised at how amazing the service was for how short staff they are. The two gentlemen were very nice. They explained how usually there is a server but because of the small amount of employees they couldnt bring our food out. (Even though he did). They locked the doors to close the dine in but told us to take our time eating so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. The burgers and fries are really well priced and delicious! It's hot sizzling chicken crispy crispy Chicken fried steak, even with the eggs on top and crispy potatoes mixed with onions and peppers. It is to die for! And then I also had to get Cincinnati chili five way. It's not Cincinnati unless it has cinnamon but where else can u get it here? Swung through the drive thru on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Husband had the Carolina burger and cajun fries, the fries were well seasoned and the burger was "delicious"; it seems like some part of the slaw/sauce was made in house. I had their veggie burger, and for $5 I was expecting a Morningstar patty and no cheese. Instead I received an in-house potato patty topped with pepper jack cheese, which was highly enjoyable. The owner was apparently excited that someone ordered the veggie burger, so he threw in a free veggie hot dog for me to try. Apparently they're testing out the recipe, so my critique is that the flavor is really good, but the texture is a little on the crumbly side so it can be a little messy to eat in the car. I had been curious after Sean's Shack was suggested in Yelp and I had been craving chicken fried steak. I picked up breakfast on 11FEB2022. I ordered a bacon and egg biscuit for my wife and I ordered the chicken fried steak for me. The biscuits were okay, so I will probably try toast or sourdough bread next time. The egg on my wife's biscuit and the two for my meal were fried perfectly! The chicken fried steak and gravy were delicious on top of the potatoes and the gravy had the right amount of pepper to be good without being overwhelming. Both ladies who served me were very nice and efficient. My platter had enough food for breakfast and I ate the other half for lunch. It was a good meal, but not the best for my health, so it will have to be a rare treat. Thanks to Sean's Shack for a nice breakfast! read more

**only reviewing the bbq sandwich tray with slaw and fries** Came here because I wanted Steak & Shake but they turned it into this so I figured why not. HUGE mistake. I don't know if it's because of the time that I went or the item I ordered but it was super disappointing. I got the bbq sandwich tray that came with slaw and fries. The sandwich just tasted like they soaked the pork in vinegar (which I normally LOVE Carolina bbq this was just over kill), no flavor or kick to it just vinegar. The coleslaw was a joke. Look at the photos for what I mean. I'm pretty sure it was just cabbage tossed in the tiniest bit of pepper. And after I took the 3 large inedible pieces out, there was maybe the equivalence of a teaspoon left. Skip this place and go to Cook Out if your looking for a bbq sandwich. read more

I had passed this location many times since it changed from SteakNshake so I finally pulled into taste the food. After reading the menu it reminded me of little spot i liked as a child. The smell of chilli, coleslaw and onions on top of a red hot dog takes me back to my Dad and I always trying food trucks. Flavors were so good, crispness of fresh slaw and chopped onions really make this hot dog special. Even when grabbing traditional Carolina treats quality is most important. The aloha chicken sandwich has seared pineapple, tomato and lettuce. Its such an nice change from typical fried chicken breast, this marinated chicken breast was juicy cooked just right. A bite of this tropical sandwich with curly fries was great introduction to Sean's. The coffee was the only disappointment it had harsh flavor of old coffee grounds that instantly caused me heartburn. People please rotate your coffee grounds and have right ratio of water and grounds. I would have given them 5 stars had something as simple as coffee was prepared correctly. read more
