I ordered the Garlic Shroom Hotdog with onion rings via the drive thru. It came out pretty quickly and the scent was mouthwatering! I haven't been that excited to eat something from a drive thru in a long time. And it did not disappoint! It tasted so fresh and homemade, like you were at your family's cookout. The onion rings were ok; next time I would probably try the curly fries. The menu is extensive so I can only imagine trying everything else. My family and I have been to Sean's Shack about 10 times now and have had a 5 star experience each time. We enjoy bringing our dog and sitting outside on the patio where there are beautiful planters, shady spots, and some nice music. The food is excellent and tastes amazing every single time. Not only are we appreciative of the delicious food, but we are equally grateful for the top notch customer service. Chris couldn't be more friendly, upbeat, and accommodating. He is always smiling and going out of his way to make sure we have everything we need. Chris comes outside to check on us, delivers our food, offers refills, and insists on cleaning up our plates when we finish so we don't have to go back inside. You couldn't ask for a more hardworking, welcoming, and enjoyable employee. We have also had the opportunity to meet and chat with the owner, Sean. You can tell he is very proud of his restaurant. He took the time to tell us about their fresh/organic ingredients and homemade recipes - it's obvious he's passionate about what he does. Sean even brought out a cup of soft serve ice cream for our dog on one of our visits. I ordered the Carolina dog and a cup of chili. The dog was great. I got the beef. They also have pork dogs. The chili is spicy hot. If you don't like it mouth-burning hot, don't order it. It is good however. The 5-way chili mt wide ordered isn't Cincinnati style. I would suggest they offer a mild option for the 80% that doesn't like spicy. Burgers are slightly above average, sides are solid, service is quick and thorough. Where this place shines is absolutely it's chicken. I'm hard pressed to find better chicken in Raleigh. Everything here is scratch made and you can tell. Sauces, seasonings, coatings... all out of Chondru's kitchen. Shakes are superlative. Breakfast is up there with any diner or brunch spot you can find. Maybe Metro Diner or Another Broken Egg surpasses this. MAYBE. Do yourself a favor. Visit Sean's Shack and start with an order of Chicken Minis. Garlic or Cajun. Take a deep breath, and sink your teeth into it. It's transformative. Every single person I've brought as a guest and had their eyes fly open wide. "Sean" treats his guests like family. He really does. He demands that this attitude cascade down through his entire operation, you can feel it when you walk in the door. You can tell he knows how to build a following. It's totally one of those places we will order from again when we are in town and want something that it delicious and priced well. We decided to give this place a try and we were pleasantly surprised at how amazing the service was for how short staff they are. The two gentlemen were very nice. They explained how usually there is a server but because of the small amount of employees they couldnt bring our food out. (Even though he did). The chicken fried steak and eggs is on a little plate with so much going for it. It's hot sizzling chicken crispy crispy Chicken fried steak, even with the eggs on top and crispy potatoes mixed with onions and peppers. It is to die for! And then I also had to get Cincinnati chili five way. It's not Cincinnati unless it has cinnamon but where else can u get it here? Swung through the drive thru on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Husband had the Carolina burger and cajun fries, the fries were well seasoned and the burger was "delicious"; it seems like some part of the slaw/sauce was made in house. I had their veggie burger, and for $5 I was expecting a Morningstar patty and no cheese. Instead I received an in-house potato patty topped with pepper jack cheese, which was highly enjoyable. The owner was apparently excited that someone ordered the veggie burger, so he threw in a free veggie hot dog for me to try. Apparently they're testing out the recipe, so my critique is that the flavor is really good, but the texture is a little on the crumbly side so it can be a little messy to eat in the car. I had been curious after Sean's Shack was suggested in Yelp and I had been craving chicken fried steak. I picked up breakfast on 11FEB2022. I ordered a bacon and egg biscuit for my wife and I ordered the chicken fried steak for me. The biscuits were okay, so I will probably try toast or sourdough bread next time. The egg on my wife's biscuit and the two for my meal were fried perfectly! The chicken fried steak and gravy were delicious on top of the potatoes and the gravy had the right amount of pepper to be good without being overwhelming. Both ladies who served me were very nice and efficient. My platter had enough food for breakfast and I ate the other half for lunch. I don't know if it's because of the time that I went or the item I ordered but it was super disappointing. I got the bbq sandwich tray that came with slaw and fries. The sandwich just tasted like they soaked the pork in vinegar (which I normally LOVE Carolina bbq this was just over kill), no flavor or kick to it just vinegar. The coleslaw was a joke. Look at the photos for what I mean. I'm pretty sure it was just cabbage tossed in the tiniest bit of pepper. And after I took the 3 large inedible pieces out, there was maybe the equivalence of a teaspoon left. Skip this place and go to Cook Out if your looking for a bbq sandwich. read more
