where to start, when I called to set up appointment I had stated that my dishwasher would not start and that I had gone on line and found out that my model of dishwasher the control panels go out quite often! (wish I would have had that info sooner).The technician never called me until he was on my very short street. He arrived within 5 minutes of his call, never asking about my dishwasher. I've never had an issue with Sears technician service however their price gouging is insane. I was told my last service call that I needed a control board. The cost of the part online was a little over $1000. Sears wanted to charge $2000 just for the part. That is ridiculous. Another incident over the summer I needed a capacitor for my outside ac unit. The part online was $20 or less. Sears wanted to charge me almost $550 for the part and service. I had someone else come a replace for way cheaper for a replacement that took 20 mins. Technician was friendly and knowledgeable, however, four hours after he left my heat has not returned to a warm temperature. The thermostat was 51 degrees when he arrived and is now only at 60 degrees. I do not feel this is the fault of the technician since he felt I needed a new unit, however, Choice Home Warranty (who was not at my house) decided it was not necessary to replace the unit. Whatever the technician did get me 9 more degrees but my house is still cold. When the tech left my house after three hours there was warm air from the vents. The above rating is for the technician, not for my exerience with Sears. My experience trying to contact Sears was very frustrating since I could not speak to a real person at any time and had to wait 5 days for a technician to be scheduled leaving me in a cold house all that time. Sears also had an incorrect phone number, which belonged to my daughter. I tried to edit the number, but I continued to get a message to try later. Please think long and hard before signing up with this service. They are totally unresponsive. We waited all day for our repair man to come on a Friday. Never canceled until 7:00 PM then rescheduled for five days later on a Wednesday. In the meantime, my refrigerator is leaking all over my floor. Tried to call to talk to someone and got into the phone system. Impossible to navigate. We had to use seers in the past, but I believe their customer service has rapidly declined. SEARS HOME SERVICES IS A FRAUD This is a follow up to my October 2024 review concerning a broken refrigerator. Our refrigerator was out of service for over three months, and Sears Home Services refused to honor our $720 warranty appliance service. Consequently, we purchased a new refrigerator and requested to cancel the service and receive a refund of the $720 warranty. Sears assured us that they would cancel the service and initiate the refund process. However, after the service was canceled, we were informed that we had already received adequate value, and our $720 premium would not be refunded. We received no value at all; the problem was misdiagnosed, incomplete parts were ordered, and Sears simply abandoned the repair effort. The process was incredibly frustrating as Sears scheduled multiple appointments, then cancelled with little notice, often late in the evening, and then rescheduled blindly without asking about our availability, only to cancel again. We spent hours on the phone with Sears customer service. They repeatedly misled us with half-truths and disingenuous lies. We sent a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Sears Home Services responded in writing to the BBB stating that they had given us a refund, which is completely false. They provided no refund whatsoever. The dishonesty is unbelievable. Don't even waste your time with Sears Home Services - seriously, save yourself the headache and just go with someone else. I scheduled a service appointment for a dishwasher and ice machine repair. Took me 30 min on the phone just to get the appointment set (during which time, I stated the service address TWICE). The next day, I get a confirmation notice with the wrong address listed. I try to reach someone by phone, but it just routes you around and around in an automated menu. The confirmation claimed I could edit the service address via chat - tried that and got the same runaround by the chat bot. Called again the next day and finally got a person who told me that the appointment would need to be cancelled in order to update the address. What?? Convinced them to keep the appointment and send a message to the dispatch with the correct address. Few hours later, got an appointment rescheduled notice for the next day (not going to work as I already took time off to be there for the original appointment). Called again and went round and round with the person who basically said that my appointment must be rescheduled because I gave the wrong address despite me giving the accurate address twice and then calling back and giving it again! At that point, I canceled the appointment and went with a different company. Oh, and the cancellation confirmation? Still listing the wrong address. If they can't even get an address correct, do you really want them repairing your appliances? read more

The technician arrived early in the morning which was good. The window of schedule time is too wide from 8 to 5. It should give the customer at least choose 2 to 4 hour window, not a whole day. Not every body can wait a whole day for 10 minutes service. The technician left a huge mess behind her. I got an email with the document attached saying I signed the document but I was never asked to sign anything. The signature was not mine. I have American Home Shield Warranty for home repairs. My washing machine is broken and AHS contracted Sears Home Services. I have been waiting for a month and now going on two months. The Sears service technician came to my house, walked up the walkway took a picture and turned around and left. Then he reported to the company no one was home. The service technician never came onto the porch, did not ring the doorbell (which is a security camera), and di not knock on the door. Khaya, the 2nd service technician sent by Sears, (unlike the 1st one) did a thorough check of our dryer to determine the true cause of why our dryer had emitted a strong burning smell and stopped working. Khaya promptly had the necessary parts ordered, and once they arrived, she returned skillfully fixing our dryer, which included replacing an important unit that was burned up. She also made sure to test the thermometer to confirm the heat was reaching appropriate temps and shutting off when it was supposed it. While Khaya worked, she voiced enthusiasm about her work and praised and expressed appreciation for her mentor, John. It was such a pleasure having such a pleasant & determined to do well professional in our home helping us. Sears - you have an excellent employee in Khaya! ------------------------------------ On another note, I my opinion, had the previous technician, who said, "I think it's a broken belt" opened the dryer up and looked inside, perhaps he too would have diagnosed the problem successfully. Especially since I stressed as a former volunteer fighter, I could tell the burning smell was electric in nature and expressed a desire for him to check, because I doubted a broken belt would would cause that strong odor. He declined & said, "We're required to try a new belt first, & if it doesn't fix the problem, we'll look further." (That made no sense to me, and it caused us to go an additional week without a dryer.) ---- Khaya, however, listened when I told her about the burning and knew to open the dryer up & explore in order to locate the origin of the burning. I was on the phone for over 30 minutes just trying to make an appointment. Gave them all part and serial numbers for my oven. I had already diagnosed the problem (by error code) and advised I needed the front digital panel. They advised that the technician would be advised of the problem and would have the part with them at the time of repair. They never called to advise what time they would be here, finally after 10:00AM they put on their website the approximate time (which changed 4 times starting at 2:15PM) and they were still here late (4:55PM). The technician wanted to charge me $120 for taking a picture of the serial number and then could not get the part and said it could not be replaced or repaired. I had given them all the numbers over the phone. I am disgusted with Sears Home Services and will make sure I never have to use them again. I know there are more important things than a broken dishwasher, but................... I have a Sears contract that I pay for $50.00 a month. It covers all my new appliances, all purchased on the same date. My top of the line Elite Kenmore dish washer has broken 5 times in the last year. In May they fixed it and it worked twice. I patiently waited for the next part to come. I had no dishwasher the whole month of June. In July they came with the part. The technician created a short and blew the part so it never got fixed. I had no dishwasher the month of July. They called us to tell us they had the part and would install on August 31. They never came or called. I had no dishwasher the month of August. When I called today, the automated voice said that the dishwasher was fixed on January 1, 1970. I did not even own a dishwasher in 1970. What good is a contract if they do not fix the appliance?
