This is the worst company. I am trying to get a thermostat replaced on my oven and I have had 4 appointments to take care of this. Someone only showed up 2/4 times and the other 2 times they never called or texted to say they weren't coming. Then, they couldn't get the part on their own so I went and got it. They showed up and said "we need a 2nd guy" and left. They claimed to have rescheduled for the following week and then canceled the appointment without telling me and marked the job complete in their system. This repair service is awful. How long does it take to fix an f-ing fridge? First of all they have the parts shipped directly to our house instead of to them and the part arrives broken twice (poorly packed and the UPS guy dumps it on our driveway near the street) and then when they put it in the fridge it still doesn't work properly. It's been two months and the fridge still doesn't work properly and they have been unresponsive since they already got their money. Sears contracts out to A&E Repair Services in the San Luis Obispo area since they don't have a physical location so don't use A&E Repair Services if you see them listed separated either. This is the worst outfit I have ever dealt with. First they said that they would arrive in a 4 hour window. I waited 6 hours, no show, no call. I tried to call them and waited over 45 minutes to actually speak with someone. No apologies, no explanation. Set up another time, and the technician was supposed to arrive between 7:00 and 7:30 AM. Waited until 9 and called Sears. The automated system stated that I had no appointment. After only 20 minutes I actually spoke with a person who said that he would contact the technician while keeping me on the line. I waited over a half hour, no response. I had a technician come out under my home warranty because my washing machine was not draining and spinning consistently. He tested it and told me it drains fine, and advised me to clean the seal well and run a cleaner through on the tub clean cycle - which I did. the washing machine still does not drain consistently. I'm have to run an extra rinse and spin cycle - sometimes a few times - to get the clothes dry enough to remove from the washing machine ready for the dryer. I have been a loyal Kenmore customer for decades. I was disappointed when my appliance repairman said he no longer worked on Kenmore or LG appliances which are made by Kenmore because the difficulty in getting parts. I had no other option than to try the SEARS Service department. The technician, Caly B., was great. The appointment software, not so much. I confirmed my appointment for Monday 1-5 p.m. as requested by text from SEARS. No one showed Monday...so I chose the option to re-schedule for today between 1-5 p.m. The technician Clay called at 9 a.m. today to say he was nearby. That was fine since I really needed to get to work after waiting all afternoon yesterday. He said he was not notified of my confirmed appointment yesterday. There is a major disconnect between those making the appointments and the technicians in the field. I found the process to be time-consuming and inefficient. I am never so frustrated as when I do something (like buy a service contract from Sears) and then am burned by the outcome (as in now). Maybe I can help one consumer avoid dealing with this slipshod outfit (Sears Appliance Repair now dab A&E Factory Service). In late October 2015 I bought major appliances (LG rebranded as Kenmore Elite) from Sears for my remodeled kitchen. I've never been one to buy extended warranties, but this time I did it despite my misgivings; a five year full bore warranty on three appliances (refrigerator, dishwasher, and gas range). The service commenced with delivery in November 2015 (so it would conclude end of October 2020). Now fast forward to September 2020; the company that picked off service contracts from Sears Home Appliance Repair is A&E Factory Service. Mid-September I called the old "Sears Home Services" number and spoke with a woman, obviously at an off shore call center, to schedule a final check on all of the major appliances. I requested any Wednesday in October, but due to the pandemic there were no technicians available until around Thanksgiving, but not to worry. The visit would be covered under my old warranty arrangement. The tech, a nice fellow named Steve, He showed up in a truck that had a new company name, A&E Factory Service. A&E now owned my old contract which was had expired. Steve serviced the refrigerator, cleaned the coils, adjusted the ice maker. Then he serviced the dishwasher. But when he got to the gas range and I asked if he would check for leaks he said that not only could he not check for leaks, but he couldn't really service the gas range because his specialty is more "refrigeration" than gas plumbing and ranges, and that I would need a different technician. This was confusing to me as I had been allowed to make all three appointments. Steve electronically cancelled the gas range appointment before looking at it, and then told me I would need to call in and make a new appointment myself! WTF! I protested and he relented, calling in and securing an appointment with a "gas plumbing/range" specialist (?), but that appointment wouldn't happen until December 21...still covered under warranty (according to Steve). On December 21 the technician (Warren) showed up at around 3:30 pm (window of 1pm-5pm). He brought in his stuff, set up in the corner of the kitchen by the range, and then asked me how I was going to pay for this. Warren obviously had no information from the previous service tech visit. Steve had left no service notes, and I had no documentation. Oh hell, here we go. Warren parked in the corner of my kitchen for 45 minutes trying to get somebody somewhere to pick up the phone to give him authorization. I remembered Steve had the same problem back in November, trying to get through to make another appointment for me. Anyways, Warren finally got through. He got a solid "NO" from a supervisor who told him that since I had elected to allow my appliance coverage through Sears Home Services (A&E Factory Service) to lapse, no further service nor repairs would be done unless paid for by me. Warren handed me a card with a "customer service" number. No thank you, Warren. Don't make the mistakes that I've made. Heed legitimate warnings. Beware Sears and A&E Factory Service. read more
