I took my car in for the heater and paid to have the problem diagnosed. Later in the day, I got a call saying that they would need 5 to 6 more hours of diagnosis time before they could fix the problem and that I would have to pay $155 an hour for the additional diagnosis. I could go into details but the bottom line is that $3700 later my heater just needed to be flushed. Period. It's their car, their service department, their shop, but my problem. As I was leaving, I was told that they had put in $300 of parts I didn't need and I would have to keep them and pay for them or pay for two hours worth of work to have them removed. I suggest going anywhere else to get service. The service manager was rude and the owner hung up on me. It dampens the joy of the car. Should I buy another Mercedes, it certainly will not be at Sears and it certainly will not be serviced there. They take no ownership. Again, my heater just needed to be flushed. We were in the market for a new SUV. We had decided on a Mercedes ML series and had begun shopping around locally. We stopped at Sears Import Autos and went inside. We met Endre. He seemed like a really nice guy at first. We knew exactly what we wanted: an ML350, 2009 or 2010, P2 Package. He did have one on the lot... a 2010 with 49,000 miles on it. He quoted it at $40,900. First off, that's a LOT of miles for a 2 year old car. I said this right away. He went on and on about how well Mercedes held up and how good the warranty was. We were willing to at least take a look, and he let us test drive the car alone (that is always so much better than with a salesman). We liked that. We got back and told him we'd have to do some quick research and that we'd call him in the morning. First off, we called the bank. They did a blue book and black book check against the VIN and said book value was $37,700. That's $3,200 less than what the dealer wanted. Good to know. We also had their car guy evaluate our trade-in. He said the trade was borderline between "Excellent" and "Good" condition because of a very small crack near the headlight. It was in the plastic bumper fascia and if a salesman wanted to be a stickler about it, he could probably get away with calling it "good" condition. The rest of the car was fantastic though. All dealer serviced. Low miles for it's age, leather, navigation. It was a nice trade. For "excellent" it was valued at $13,917 or at "good" it was valued at $13,314. We also looked up the dealer webpage with the bank guy to get all the information for him to do his book value and on the dealer webpage the vehicle price was only $39,800. Endre was highballing us,or the price dropped overnight. Not a good sign. After I got my facts, I took the trade-in car up to let Endre look at it the next day. He lowballed me at $12,500. I didn't say anything in response to his offer. I just told him I'd be in touch. We went and looked at other dealers. Other dealers also had the car we wanted, and also with the P2 package... but the one at Sears was the only one with the aftermarket grill protector as well as the upgraded lighting. I called White Bear Mercedes to find out how much it would be for the addons. The grill protector film would be $380 to install, and the sill lighting would be $500. So if we bought from another dealer we'd immediately be in for $880 to match the one at Sears. So $38,580 was the most I'd pay for the one at Sears (book + addons) We still wanted the one from Sears. It was just the nicest one out there. The high miles and obscenely high price they were asking had to be dealt with though. As well as the low trade value... basically they wanted to do $39,800 and $12,500. I was willing to do $38,500 and $13,300 - putting us $2,100 apart. I phoned Endre up and laid it out straight. I didn't want to fool around with back and forth and a drawn out negotiation. We were ready to buy. I told him I what I would do. He declined. He came back with bringing the trade up to $13,000 (coming up $500) and offering to throw in a new set of floor mats (he kept saying this was a $200 value!!! several times) and a full tank of gas. I thought that was kind of insulting. Anyone buying a luxury car should be getting a full tank of gas anyway. And the floormats already in the vehicle were pristine so the upgrade between the existing mats and brand new ones was not even close to a $200 value. I told him we'd prefer to take a few more days to go shopping for other cars. He said he was going on vacation but offered to hold the car until Wednesday (if I gave him my credit card number to hold a deposit) and he said he hoped something could still be worked out. I agreed to that. We were still $1,600 apart. The better half went in a few days later. We had found another ML at a different dealer and we planned to buy that. She went in to give Sears one last shot. She worked with Tim, who she said was very nice and understanding. He wasn't able to make a deal though - so he went and got the manager to see what could be negotiated (and this is sort of my fault for letting her go on her own), but the manager tried to strong arm her into buying the car, saying he had gone out of his way to hold it for her and had turned down other sales offers (riiiiight). He basically was trying to make her obligated to buy the car. His strong arm tactics just made her mad though. She had been over and over the same spreadsheets we were using to make this decision many times. She knew the numbers. So we walked away from Sears. Looking at CarGuru's, I see they still have that ML on their lot. For 89 days now. And they have dropped the price to $36,877 - WELL BELOW my offer. They could have made a bunch of money off me. Now they have it priced $1,623 below my even my offer. That's money they just left on the table. Side note: We are very happy with the new ML350 we bought! That review is mostly because of one service rep, Scott Anderson.I scheduled an appointment to drop my S63 for service on Thursday 9.30am, initially I'd prefer 9am but my advisor said he starts at 9.30 so I said ok. I got to the shop at 9.25 with my 4year old before his school. Scott wasn't there so the guy on the front said he'll be here any minute. At 9.40am Scott finally showed and instead of an apology for being late he offered me a breakfast burrito which he was caring in a paper bag? That was very weird but anyway, I left my car, got a loaner and left. Later that night he called me and said that they will be finishing the alignment first thing in the morning and he will call me and let me know when I can pick up my car. Friday came, No call, Saturday came, No Call. So finally Saturday afternoon I called to inquire about my car to find out from his voice mail that he will be out till November 16th??? Really Scott, not professional at all.... You should have tel someone to at least call me and keep me posted. And since it was almost 3pm on Saturday I couldn't make it to Sears so I waited till Monday to pick up my car. Lance was the one that helped me whine picking up, he did an ok job. Overall I am not very happy with Sears, I have been going to carouse Audi for about 10 years now and have never had a bad experience, here I drove in with a very expensive Mercedes and I was treated like I was walking into a Kia dealer or worst.... I am also a business owner and I do know how important customers are, Scott Anderson on the other hand.... Not so much... I purchased a used Mercedes SUV, which was just out of factory warranty, from this business and I was scammed. Every time I went there to see the vehicle, test drive it and pick it up, the vehicle was brought out front for me. In other words, I never had the opportunity to start the vehicle from a cold start. Perhaps I was naive, but it seemed like great customer service. Instead, once I brought the vehicle home and it sat for a couple of days, I started it and the engine rattled for about six seconds before quieting down. I did some extensive research through the various MB forums and apparently there is an issue with certain MB engines for which there is a technical bulletin for the remedy. I took the vehicle back to have it checked over and they said I might be hearing injector noise, which I knew was not true. I sent a letter to the VP/GM about this issue and he said to bring it back in. I recorded a video of the cold start and took the vehicle back in to have it checked out again. I played the video for the service manager in which one could clearly hear the timing chain rattling (also referred to as timing chain slapping). He was not impressed or empathetic to my situation. But they kept the vehicle for a couple of days, charged me $265 for an oil change and sent me packing saying they didn't hear anything. Now I'm stuck with a $30k white elephant unless I decide to litigate. I have owned Mercedes before, but never again! read more

I found a 2014 Lexus LS460L at Sears Imported Autos through Car Gurus. I made an offer to buy the vehicle with the stipulation that it had to pass a visual inspection and test drive, as I lived in Des Moines, IA and had only seen the car online. The salesman assigned to me, Endre Bacsa, told me the car was in excellent condition - showroom condition. And the pictures looked that way. They wanted me to wire the $10,000 down payment before I came to see the car. I certainly did not. Only a fool sends money ahead of time. So they agreed to let me bring a cashier's check, which is standard practice. When I got there, Endre tried to get me to sign the papers before taking a test drive, supposedly because the finance person was available and I wouldn't have to wait for the next appointment. I did not, and took the vehicle for a test drive. The vehicle handled well, and the interior was indeed immaculate. But it was obvious that the rear bumper had been repainted, even though the Carfax said no accidents. The paint job was no where near the quality one would expect on a top of the line, showroom quality vehicle. It looked like a high school body shop did the work. The were also major scratches on the lower front quarter panel behind the left front wheel. None of these flaws showed in the pictures, and the car was a big disappointment. When I showed Endre the repairs to the bumper, he down played it and said it's only paint, a simple cosmetic fix. As anyone who's had car scratches touched up knows, these two areas could easily cost $2,500 to $3,000. Obviously I did not buy the vehicle, and Endre said, Ok Sir rather curtly and walked away. I wouldn't put up with this kind of rudeness from a third rate used car salesman, and honestly was extremely disappointed to receive this kind of treatment from a Mercedes dealership. I certainly don't want readers to think that Sears Imported Autos treats every customer this way, or that they misrepresent all of their autos condition, but I wanted to make an honest review of my experience. I drove 7 hours round trip from Des Moines to purchase a pristine automobile, only to have my time wasted by a pushy rude salesman. read more

This organization is a train wreck of communication. They never do what they say they are going to do. After making an appointment to get our car worked on, it took them two days to start the process of looking at the car. During those two days, we never got a call outlining what was happening with the car. When we called in to get an update, nobody was able to tell us what was going on with the car. So essentially they hold your car hostage for days without any communication to the client. We escalated the problem of associates outlining when they would call us, only to have that time pass by hours, sometimes days, with no call. This was escalated to the general manager Mike Roeder. After this escalation the next day they told us they would call the following morning with an update, morning comes, no call. We didn't get any call all day long. The incompetence of this organization is not isolated at the customer service level, it unfortunately flows all the way to the top to the general manager (Mike Roeder). If your car breaks down in front of this organization, you will save time by pushing it to Bloomington to get it fixed. This location should be an embarrassment to Mercedes. read more

I was looking all around the Twin Cities for a Ranger Rover Sport and landed on one I liked at Sears Imported in Minnetonka. I set up an appointment. The appointment went well and negotiated some pricing with the sales people. While test driving it, I noticed it pulled to the right and asked them to align the wheels before I bought it. They assured me it wast just tire pressure and they'd fill them up. So I purchased the car. My list of issues with Sears in just 2 months: 1. The tire pressure warning has gone off 3 times in 2 months. It's been in the service already and didn't fix it and still pulls to the right. The tires constantly look low. 2. The CD player doesn't work and I've made 3 contacts about it: An email to my sales guy, an email to the woman I purchased the elite warranty with and finally a call to just go in for service. 3. When I took the car in for service, they said it would be just one hour so I wouldn't need a loaner, I could just wait since it was during a work day. In the second hour of waiting, he said it was almost done. After three hours of waiting I went back and said I really needed to get back to work. He said it wouldn't be much more. FOUR hours later, I went back and said I need my car back to leave, it's been far too long, so he then wrapped up the fixes. The tires STILL are not fixed. The CD player is still not fixed. 4. He said he was going to talk to his service manager about the CD player and would call me in the next 2 days. After 4 days, I called back and left a message for both him and the service manager. NO call back. After a week, I called back and talked to the receptionist and he was out until Monday. I asked that she explain to him that I had called 3 times and never heard back and she said she would pass that on and would be sure he'd call me back on Monday. He never did. 5. I paid $3,000 for the best extended warranty on the vehicle but it's been this big of a hassle and no one calls back I'm wondering how good it is. It doesn't seem that once you buy your car, they have any interest in serving you. Or if it's because I purchased a non-Mercedes vehicle from them, then they shouldn't sell them. All in all, I have recommended friends and family not purchase from them, including a friend who was looking at SUVs last week. The sales guy is very friendly, but no follow through on any of the employees parts beyond getting the cars sold or following up later to sell more rims, etc. read more

I went to another dealer and purchased the same model, a 2013 bmw 5 series for more then what Sears Import was selling their's for. Only dealt with service, not sales, but Bill, the service manager was great. Even though my car (BMW X5) was out of warranty, they were able to get BMW to comp the majority of my repair on a known problem. Furthermore, they sent me up with a rental free of charge while they took a look. I've had good experiences with Motorwerks BMW as well, but the level of service at Sears exceeded my expectations. read more

I could not be happier with the service that I received in the Sprinter division. The front person was extremely helpful and courteous and told me which service items were really needed and which could wait, since my vehicle is an RV and I am not putting lots and lots of miles on it. I just leased my second vehicle from Sears. My first was a 2010 C300. The service and experience from Matt Mahoney was excellent with this first vehicle. I did not have any major issues with that car, but went in for regular service, each time I was well taken care of and given a Mercedes loaner. As my lease was nearing the end I was interested in some other manufacturer's vehicles so did research and checked around. I told Matt what I was looking for and he advised me to wait for the 2013 GLK350 as it was being updated and would be a perfect fit. I was glad I took his advice. I just took ownership this week and love the car. I highly recommend Mercedes vehicles, Sears Imported Autos and Matt Mahoney. read more

They post vehicles on their website that have just come in on trade, but when you actually try to buy it they say that they decided to send it out to a 'wholesaler' rather than sell it to a prospective customer. Been a customer here for years until recently Minnesota Sears. During their certified pre owned event I decided to buy a vehicle. Came in the Sat night (event ends Sun). Liked a Blue/cream CLA 250 but my salesman talked me into a Blue/Grey CLA 250 with 7 K more miles and more expensive cause he said it would have a 2 year warranty. Came in with the family to sign on Sunday and while I am with finance they spot it should be a 1 year. Called the salesman in and he and her both agree it probably should be a 2 year based on in service date but could not guarantee. I said I am sure sears will take care of this and went ahead and signed. Come a few weeks later they email me saying sorry it is 1 year and we can't do anything about it. Salesman Nick stops responding when I aske about what steps were taken. Bottom line is business should take care of their customers. Was not looking for anything free just what I paid for. I have tried to work with them but they are done. Will not be using this dealership again. All warranty work on my Mercedes will go elsewhere. read more

I went in to inquire about turning in my leased vehicle. The salesman was condescending and rude. He wasn't interested in helping me, the customer, find a car and a deal that worked for me. Do yourself a favor and go to a different Mercedes dealer where they know who is putting money in their bank account. And to that salesman, you should never burn a bridge when you are in sales. In the last 15 years I bought over 14 cars from Sears. 1 Nissan, 12 new and used BMW, and a Mercedes for my daughter. The sales people are great, although I bought all my cars from Andrey who treated me as his "VIP" customer. Service staff are great too. Never had any problem and always got the best treatment from their staff - I worked with Lance most of the time. - I always got loaner car during the service, and courtesy before and after call. Great Service department... Horrible sales department. ( 3 stars because the service team is 5 stars and the sales team is 1 star) It seems they prefer the old school way of selling cars; i.e.. lowball, lowball, have to speak to the manager, "in order to get the best deal you have to come into the dealer and sit down with them". Pure BS. Two years ago we went in to buy a CPO E series, I had spoken with the sales person a number of times and there were 2 very similar cars we were going to look at. I schedule a specific time, told her I was bringing my car, my title and my checkbook, so we could get it a deal done. I also informed her that i only had a couple of hours to do so. (It was right before the holidays and i had family and houseguests coming that day). She told me she would have everything ready when we go there so we could minimize the time spent. First of all we showed up at the agreed upon time and no salesperson (she would up being 30 mins late). So while we were waiting we asked to see the cars so we could possibly make a decision before she arrived. Neither of the cars were at the dealer. We were told that 1 was being test driven and the other was being cleaned. Both of which turned out to be false. When the salesperson shows up and we are waiting for the cars to be available, she has the used car manager look at our car to give us a price (I had already sent her the VIN so they could see the history). He came back with a price that was $1500 below any of the book prices we researched, plus a quote we received online from another dealer. When i informed him of that he asked my what dealer, which i told him, then he comes back 10 mins later and demands to know who the salesperson was at that dealer that gave me that price, again i informed him that it was an online quote and i didn't know who it was and that was the price i was looking for. So far we have been at the dealer for over an hour and have not seen either car and have made no head way on the trade-in.. We asked the salesperson to find out how much longer before we could see the cars, she went and checked and came back and informed us that: 1 car had been taken home by someone from the dealership and wouldn't be in that day. the second car " they couldn't find" whatever that means. we told her we were leaving, she promised to get the trade in figured out and find the cars so we could come back and do the deal. I again informed her that i had limited time, but if she could get us to where we needed to be i would make time. she called me the next day an said she could "probably get me close to where i wanted to be, but i would have to meet with the sales manager and the used car guy. i told her that i didn't have time for that game and that was her job as the salesperson to get it done. i also reminded her that we were pre-approved for credit so the only hurdle was the price. she agreed to speak with them and call me back. i don't hear from her the next day, the day after that i call her and leave a message asking where we are on the price. i get a somewhat cryptic voicemail from her later that day saying both cars have been sold. Nothing else, no offer to look for another car for us. nothing. 2 weeks later we buy a similar car with a few more features lower miles same model year at Rochester MB. We paid approx. $2k less for the car and the gave me $1K more than i was asking for on my trade-in, or $2500 more than Sears would give me. The best part, the whole deal was done over the phone with a few phone calls. We drove down, the car was inside (It was January now) warm, clean, the paperwork was already. We spent less than 2 hours on the whole transition. Extremely happy! Fast forward to this year, based on the great service we get from Sears we decide that maybe we should try again to by another CPO vehicle from them. SAME DAMN THING. They lowballed the trade-in ( a car we bought from them, had serviced by them, and was still under the extended warranty). Spoke with the sales guy, told him where we would like to be on a net price, he said he would talk to his boss and the used car guy and see what they could do, but if i really wanted to get a decent price i really should come in and sit down with them. I said i would see what i could do, but that the next two days were Christmas eve and Christmas. He said he would call me back on the day after christmas. Did not hear from him, so i called the next day to come in and drive the car and work on a deal. I did not hear back from him so i left a msg with the receptionist that she said she would give him saying i would be in at a certain time. Guess what? I show up at that time, i still have not heard back from the salesperson and again the car is SOLD. So what does the sales guy say? Do you want to drive it anyway? Why would I? Asked him why he hadn't called me back? Why didn't he let me know someone else was interested in the car. He didn't have a reasonable answer. HORRIBLE SALES! read more

we purchased a new 2018 glc 43 1 yr ago, we have been working with sears to resolve a serious issue regarding "scrubbing" with the front tires. this scrubbing issues wore out the front tires in 6000 miles and bent both front rotors. sears and mb has acknowledge to us they know there is a problem with "scrubbing" on all glc's with factory 22" wheels. their offered us $2500, the challenge is that the cost of replacing the wheels with ones that will solve the issue is $4500.oo i would highly recommend another dealer if you are in the market for a new mb read more

I leased a new GLE from Sears Imports and couldn't be happier. I love my new car and my monthly payment. I didn't know anything about Mercedes when I went in. I had always driven domestic brands and wasn't sure if this would even be in my price range. The sales person made me feel very comfortable and took the time to answer all of my questions. I was shocked to find out that I could lease a Mercedes sport utility for the same payment as the other domestic brand sport utilities that I had looked at. This one had more features and drove much better! After finalizing my lease they had a specialist who was so patient and went through all the features and set up everything on my car so that I felt comfortable. Lets see, where do i start?? I was gonna purchase this second benz in my life, A GL450. I couldn't believed what am i going thru.The whole experience with the dealership and the salesman- Larry, i felt like i was a prisoner getting interrogate. I mean are we talking about Mercedes benz? suppose to be a luxury dealership with good service. I guess thats not the case. They will force you to lease or trade in, if not you need to pay $10000 for some kind of hold? I have brought limited edition ferrai before, and i didn't even went thru this kind of service, knowing how straight Ferrai are for their Rare cars. But this guys are something else, i guess they are afraid these car will be ship out the country? And i Guess they had automatically assume i will do that when they see my last name? YES, i am Chinese. but guess what. i'm have no interest to do so. no wonder why Lexus had earn more business than benz. i guess at the end of the day. Lexus understand the true value of respecting the others and service. I am very upset that racism is still around in these days. I recently had the pleasure of buying a used 2014 BMW 328d from Daniel Rosario - Torres at Sears Imports of Minnetonka, MN. At my request he personally inspected the vehicle for me before I committed to flying in to buy and drive the car home to Chicago. Once I arrived at MSP I was picked up by the dealership. John Dewritz..Sales Associate at Sears Imported Mercedes needs an attitude adjustment!! He made a very unprofessional comment towards a pregnant women, who was trying to entertain her son. Justin Hagen was great very nice and helpful yet John's old cranky exterior was displayed in his rude comment. Management needs to attend to John's inappropriate behavior.
