The adventure's of a baseball fan... My wife and I went on ferry service up to Yankee Stadium over the weekend. For an afternoon game ferry leaves here at 10:55. You arrive about 12:30. On the day that we came, they had 2 ferries running. Both hold about 150- 200 seats. They do recommend coming about 45 minutes early . Also the ferry leaves the stadium 45 minutes after last out. As a baseball fan living down the shore, this is a great option. And yes we would do this again. read more

Took the New Year's Eve ferry from the highlands to nyc for the midnight fireworks. $169 per person times two. Food offered was basically just some cold cuts and antipasto salad. The pass around food was pigs in a blanket, cold miniature rice balls , soggy miniature egg roll. The cold shrimp was good and the shrimp were large, the miniature steak was on small pieces of bread that were hard as a rock. I was looking forward to desert time and was equally unimpressed. Brownies,lemon bars and butter cookies. I asked for coffee and was told to go to the bar,when I asked the bartender where the coffee set up was he said " we don't have any coffee" REALLY? You're serving desert and no coffee or tea? I can't believe there are serving liquor as part of the $169 but I would think that they would offer coffee to people who have been drinking this deal was way over priced. While still in nyc harbor just after midnight an announcement came over the loud speaker and said the bar is not providing anymore liquor as part of the $169 deal and you will have to pay for drinks....NEVER AGAIN read more

We traveled on the Fall Foliage Cruise to Cold Spring NY. The staff was courteous. The ride ran as it should. The narrators of the tours...we had 2 different ones because we traveled up on a Friday and came back on Saturday...were very knowledgeable and friendly. The cost was reasonable. The seats were not plush but were comfortable. However, I have 2 major complaints. The first is that water storage is extremely under capacity for the boat as there was no water for hand washing or flushing the toilets at some point on the journey. The second complaint...as this was billed as a fall foliage sight seeing cruise, one would think the huge windows would be cleaned so passengers could see the fall foilage out the big beautiful windows as advertised. One would be terribly mistaken. We boarded at the beginning point of the cruise and the windows on the outside were so dirty you could not see out of at least half of them and we were on the upper deck! The other half of the windows ranged from slightly better to tolerable. It was too cold upon departure to remain on deck unfortunately. On our return trip, it was warm enough to sit on deck so viewing was better. However, the number of rude passengers who stood directly in front of seated passengers blocking those seated passengers' views was mind boggling...but what was more annoying was that at no point was there signage or over speaker announcements reminding passengers to be courteous in not standing in front of seated passengers on deck. Literally there were standing passengers who basically squeezed themselves in front of you so that instead of viewing the sites you were viewing other passengers' back ends. Note, there were areas to stand where you would not be blocking the view for seated passengers. We still enjoyed our trip and had wonderful passengers next to us on the upper deck return trip who provided comic relief in dealing with the rude sight blocking passengers. If there was enough water for the trip and clean windows...even with the large number of discourteous site blocking passengers...I would have given the fall foilage site seeing cruise 4 stars. read more

HIGHLANDS: after talking for months about traveling into Manhattan with Brie to spend the day, we were wondering what our options were to commute into the city without driving and not putting Brie in a carrier. Well, we found the only way was by Seastreak Ferry! Departing out of the Highlands and Atlantic Highlands (check their website for schedule), leashed dogs are allowed anywhere on the boat, but not directly on the seats. Their policy below states differently, but multiple crew members told us we can go inside. Pets are no charge. This may not be the most affordable way into NYC, but it definitely was worth the experience. There are 2 stops: 35th Street and Wall Street on the east side. On the way up, we traveled under the Verrazano Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, and Manhattan Bridge while seeing the skyline and the Statue of Liberty. You can even see the Steeplechase of Coney Island! There's a snack bar, comfortable seating, and you can move around to the different levels. Brie was so well behaved and didn't get sea sick like her mommy. Pet policy as of October 2019: "We love our pets and we're glad you do too! We welcome dogs and cats onboard many of our trips, but they must be kept on the outdoor decks with a leash. Small dogs in a carrier can be brought inside the vessel. Service dogs are permitted onboard. Pets are not permitted on any Special Event trip, or our NJ/NYC service to Martha's Vineyard/Nantucket." read more

Since they took over the Belford route to NYC the service sucks. Everyday is multiple cancellations leaving passengers stranded to wait for next available ferry. They have no regard for the passengers time. Prices are ridiculously high and service plummets. Monmouth County should reconsider awarding them this route. If they have no business plan for additional service- then NY waterways should be reinstated! Let's see what happens- I don't think they can handle it read more

Ridiculously overpriced. If they brought fees down by 30 - 50%, this MAY be doable. Since it's not, I end up taking the train or bus instead. They would get 100% of my business if they just lowered fees. Until then, this just isn't realistic and a waste of people's money as the time save just isn't big enough. read more

Buyer beware: if you buy a 10 pack of tickets make sure you know that they EXPIRE and instead of paying over 50$ RT you will be paying over 100$. And dont bother protesting because you will be met with hostility from the crew. I might even go back to taking the train because this latest experience sucked so bad. read more

I hosted a party on the sunset cruise ship recently...nice commute minus the choppiness of the water and sights were great. But I definitely wouldn't recommend hosting a party on this particular ship event unless you book a private ship maybe (which is a bit out of my price range). Timing to wayyyy too strict because the cruise was scheduled directly after dropping off commuters; there was no time to properly set anything up or allow the caterers to set up without being rushed off the ship. Also, only a select crew members of the ship were friendly and helpful, but others were a bit rude to be honest which was completely off putting. Update - I changed my review to a lower rate. I wrote to the coordinator who handled the scheduling of my party and still no response more than a week later. Again, maybe the commute and regular cruises are better; definitely NOT recommended for a party! What a shame! read more

I like taking the ferry to NJ. The staff are always nice. The boats are acceptable and fairly clean. They have a bar with some snacks and coffee as well. I've never had a bad experience. The only problem is the passengers who talk on their cellphones throughout the trip- that just annoys me. The boat ride always makes me relax. I don't take NJT trains at all anymore because they suck. read more

I have never experienced such a mess. The crew is very inconsiderate and unorganized. We waited for 3 hours most of them in the sun to be bused from sandy hook to highlands where more chaos inconsiderate action as well as a herding mentality. Came to New York for business in June 2020 during COVID-19! Decided to stay in New Jersey and ferry to NYC based on a conversation I had w someone from NJ that commuted daily. Aka, Mr. New Jersey, a handsome Italian born, raised, ferry kinda gentlemen with a distinguished awesome beard... digressing..sorry! I ubered everywhere and used SeaStreak to Pier11/Wall Street and honestly it was awesome! On my last trip I had the chance to talk to staff at Highlands. They said normally in the morning there's a long line, usually sold out to monthly ticket holders! If I lived in NJ and commuted to NYC, I'd be a monthly rider for sure! Guess I had the ultimate experience since most businesses were still closed. I'm glad I got this experience and your staff was awesome and helpful! I took pictures every trip, enjoyed conversations, sunned on the upper deck, and had the wind blow my hair to almost a tangled web. My phone lost signal which in this case was a blessing. I'm going to call in advance to purchase my tickets as things resume to normal! Can't wait for Chapter 2! Thanks very much! read more

Can I give a 10 star rating??? Seriously...I cannot praise one particular member of the crew enough. He was quite literally, a life saver. On August 1, 2017, family and I spent a day in NYC, having taken the Sea Streak ferry from where we were staying on the Jersey Shore. We had arranged to meet a friend/coworker of mine in the village, hang out, then catch the last return ferry back to the shore where she would stay with us for a night. We took the 10:00 ferry from 11th st, at which point my friend called to tell me she missed her ferry. Upon overhearing a phone conversation between myself and a friend of mine (also from Florida and on vacation) who missed the 35th St ferry she was supposed to catch from the city to Highlands, NJ at 9:45, a young man who worked on the ferry intervened and saved my friend from a night on the street at a dock in NYC. With barely enough money to pay for the ferry ticket, she had missed the 9:45 and was stranded at the docks. Not being familiar with the area, I had no idea how to help her other than to advise her to find a policeman for direction and advice. She told me there was not a person to be seen. At this point, he took it upon himself to find her alternate, affordable transportation out of the city to Redbanks, NJ, a 20 min drive from the Highlands, where we could pick her up. Not only did he advise us of the possibility of taking the train (for $15), he looked up the NJ transit website, found the schedule, times, and locations, downloaded, and texted it to my son's phone (mine had died). He gave me very specific directions to tell her how to safely make her way to Penn station from her location, as well. And if all of this wasn't enough, he insisted on not taking the tip I offered when we disembarked while accepting our sincere gratitude. And then, texted my son a follow up a bit later to ensure she made the train. Not much impresses 17 yr old, Florida Gulf Coast boys these days, and Rob even won his accolades, including a genuine, "That guy is awesome!" and an "I feel like Rob is a cool guy...like, I could hang out with Rob!" High praise from a jaded teen. Of course, the rest of us felt the same way and sung his praises the entire ride to pick up my friend and back to the condo. Rob is the dude!! Give that man a raise!! Rob, you're our hero. If you ever make it to the Florida Gulf Coast area, we live in Sarasota, Fl, 15 min from Siesta Key (the #1 beach in the world and home of MTV's new reality show), and we got you!!! read more

On way to NJ: great ride. On way to NYC: I bought a water and a bag of chips from the bar. I didn't have cash on me so I paid with my card - the cashier asked if I had cash and I said no, just my card. He wasn't happy with this, which I understand if you have a minimum or if you post somewhere cash only, but no where on the site does it say there's a minimum nor does it say it is cash only (bc it is not). The cashier ran the card and in a condescending manner told me that if I plan on riding the boat a lot I need to bring cash. I said okay, I don't ride the boat a lot (first time). And he (insistently and rudely) well you have to bring cash next time. I started to say no as in I won't be riding this boat again and he said, "no, you won't bring cash?!" And I said no as in I'm not taking this boat again. And then he replied try next time and I won't run the card then. At this point he was openly hostile with me and I asked him for his name and he turned is back from me and said goodbye dismissively. I said thanks you've been so really sweet (clearly sarcastic). I get not wanting to run a card for a minimum amount of money if there are signs posted or cash only - but to be rude and condescending is completely unnecessary (I sincerely doubt he'd be like this to a man). Happy to never take this ferry to NJ again. read more

Watch out if you are planning to book a trip to a Mets game. Instead of the luxury Seastreak ferry, we boarded a NY Waterways Taxi with no upper deck for viewing, no comfortable seats or TV's, and one toilet to accommodate a packed boat. Since there weren't nearly enough seats for passengers, one wonders just how many life jackets were available. Letters to the company were ignored. read more
