Seatack has a BIG problem with the LEAKING ROOF, which has been a huge detriment on rainy days! WHY is the city unwilling to care for the wonderful people at Seatack who want to play pickleball? I've seen the problem for the 6 months I've played there; some say it's plagued the gym for years! WHY is Seatack being ignored and the roof permanently fixed. Come on VB, do better! read more

Recently joined the rec centers because my future in-laws love to come here and play pickle ball and have been asking us to come for months. We finally did, and LOVED it. This center is one of the smaller out of all the offerings and doesn't have as many programs, gyms, a running track and as much work-out equipment but it's still very nice and offers plenty of options for folks nearby (it's the closest to my in-laws house). We've come a few times for pickle ball and have always had fun and everyone is very welcoming. I've been missing out! It's the best deal around for a gym membership ($110 a year and you can go to any of the 6 or so locations in VAB). read more

A city without an offering of recreational centers is not a city I would want to call home. Thats just how spoiled my family has got by the City of Virginia Beach Recreational Centers. The reasonable cost when compared to a traditional gym is substantial. It has increased over the decade of use, but I'm still fan. This recreation center is not the oldest built in 1997, but it is the smallest making it my least favorite in the system. It has what the others have for the most part, but a smaller scale. It cannot offer the programing of the larger ones, but still has plenty going on. Review the quarterly books that are printed and online. The location is straight forward with signage by the road, but you can pass it up easily. The parking lot was recently sealed and looks great! No debris in the lot, or walks on my most recent. The check-in is immediately inside the door. There is no lobby area like the others. I don't care for that, but there is nothing wrong with it either. I feel a little claustrophobic. The interior area inside the door was clean and I saw a staff person sweeping in the area and emptying trash. So what do they have...a full court gym with rock wall, cardio and weights, an activity room and a six lane pool with 5 meter spring board. A men's and women's locker room is available. Vending machines are in the main corridor. I'm passionate about swimming, so a plug for the systems learn to swims and private lessons. Check out the quarterly listing of learn to swims starting at 4 yrs old. Private lessons are also offered. My children came through the learn to swim program and are both accomplished swimmers. One is a year a round swimmer that got his start at Princesses Anne Recreation Center. Not much more to say about SeaTack. It's a nice choice for beach residents. We love this rec center! I like that it's smaller and less crowded . Each and every staff member has been remarkably kind and accommodating. Harry at the front desk is always welcoming and has gone above and beyond in helping us out when needed. This is a very small rec center compared to the other beastly centers I have been to-but it's so close to me I had to try it out for a simple cardio long bike. The first time I went here I settled on the recumbent bike in he weight room and was halfway through a 15 mile bike when a guy came up-super cocky and irritable to kick me off. Unbeknownst to me I guess you have to sign up for the machines at the front counter. Ok cool. I left and finished my workout elsewhere. I came back another day to bust out a 28 miler-so I made sure I had a bike for an hour and a half. I signed up and they put me on one of the hidden bikes in the gym. Ok cool. I got dis. I busted out the workout and 5 minutes left literally there was a torrential downpour of children losing their mind running circles in the gym. I was not only startled but slightly frightened to get up and leave. Lol! All in all though I will continue going back for a basic cardio workout. Do not go to this gym and expect to get your SWOLE PATROL on- there are literally 3 strength machines. Go elsewhere to get that lift in brah. read more

i was very displease with the staff and faculty, i really hope this makes it to HR. the front desk lady was behind rude to me apon my arrival and had a very rude attitude while all i said was "how are you" and she proceeded to act like i wasnt even there while me and my friend we're trying to just sign in and use the basketball court. it seemed she had let her emotions get the best of her, im not sure what she endured during the her shift at a rec center i can't imagine there's much to be upset about while working a front desk, it seemed like she put her anger from a previous person on me and my friend as we asked to play basketball she angerly told me i wasn't allowed in the basketball court. as a nearby resident of the area i highly suggest y'all would get a new member of staff to be at the front desk. is not great for business and i will not be coming back. i have sent an email also, i would gladly come back if y'all could inform me that the clerk from this evening isn't there, description would be morbidly obese, sad looking, rude african american woman in her mid30's-40's read more

I had my child's first birthday party here 2 weeks ago. It was wonderful. The cost is very affordable. It includes the place, decorations, games, and food. All you need to do is send out invites. The staff was very nice and attentive to all my guest. We laughed, danced, and they even have a rock climbing wall. I recommend the center to all those looking for an great but affordable party for your friends and children. read more

I appreciate this location today! The staff was super sweet and welcoming. I am not familiar with this location, but the receptionist gladly pointed me to the locker rooms. I came here after work to relieve some stress. This location seems more family oriented with more kids. As I was getting ready to leave the locker room a friendly member strikes up a conversation with me and gave me insight about the location and pool. She was friendly and assuring that this location was a great spot. My intentions were to work out, but that took a turn for the better. I haven't played basketball since high school, but the younger boys in the gym were encouraging and it took me no time to get back in the swing of things. I had a lot of fun and was reminded of my younger days as a basketball player I'm grateful for their patience - with my need for extra water breaks and fouling I'm giving this location 5 stars for their appearance, friendly staff, welcoming members, and the memorable experience. BEST KEPT SECRET IN VIRGINIA BEACH! Walk in the front door to a small front desk where I am both greeted as I enter and told to have a great day as I leave - EVERY TIME. There's a lady named Kathy at the front desk who is ALWAYS smiling. And she's helpful too. She seems to know everything about Parks and Rec. If she doesn't know, she knows who to ask. Yes, the workout room is small but I know the best times of day when it's slow. Those are times when the room is nearly empty and I pretty much have the room to myself. It's like being at home in my personal gym. AND IT'S CLEAN! Speaking of clean, the entire rec center is so clean! I've been to all of the other rec centers and Seatack is the cleanest by far! They have a day and an evening custodian who are always walking around wiping down surfaces and emptying trash cans. This is the only rec center where I would dare to walk around barefooted. There are three people who work in the gym, I only know the names of two of them - Bryan and Winston - but there's a woman with her hair in a bun and her foot in an orthopedic boot too. They are all so friendly and helpful. I brought my kids in to climb on the rock wall and they had a blast! My daughter was a little scared but Mr. Bryan was so sweet and totally put her so at ease that she was able to climb all the way to the top and ring the bell. The pool is fabulous too! Unless the swim team is using it, it's almost always relatively empty. It's like having my own pool when I swim laps. There used to be a really sweet lady named Amanda working there but she now works a the rec center near Newtown Rd. I haven't met any of the current employees but they all seem friendly. The only reason I visit other rec centers is for my children. They like the kid-friendly pools at some of the other centers. However, when the kids are in school, Seatack is the ONLY rec center I visit. It's the best! read more

Got a membership to VB Rec centers because I was impressed with the kempsville location. Read online that the seatack location has a rock wall so drove all the way there to find out the gym was TINY.. don't see how more than four people can workout in there comfortably. and the rock wall was an additional fee. Don't bother. This place is really small and no one has any idea what is going on. Viginia Beach parks and recreation don't know what they are doing. Had a membership for several months and want a refund. Some of the centers are nice but that is it. Got a family membership to mostly use the pools, but the usage is severely restricted. Everyday is full of other paid activities. They don't appreciate their members, unless you wanna shell out more money. Tired of planning my day (after consulting their calendars) only to leave with upset kids. Not sure why they even bother with a schedule, they will change it without any notice. Example: today wanted to take the kids for some fun at the pool. Carefully checked the schedules of all the Virginia Beach centers to make sure we could go. Picked Seatack because it had a good "open swim" slot for today. Got the kids loaded up and drove all the way across town only to find out they closed the pool with no notice. The reason was "some swim team couldn't meet last week so they took this spot". Thanks for the notice, now I have upset kids. If they bothered letting the paid members know, this could have been avoided. Thanks for the many different times my time and gas was wasted!! They don't care about the regular people who did pay for their membership, only the big groups who might draw attention. I want my money back to pay for a membership at a gym who actually cares. read more
