Seattle Feline Rescue is a hidden gem in Shoreline. We adopted Chloe&Cleo back in August and they were very helpful and attentive with the adoption process. Cleo had some issues with vomiting (due to moving stress) so the Rescue kept her for a day to monitor her conditions and had a vet assistant check up on her. They really did above and beyond the expectations of an animal rescue organization. Both kittens were spayed, microchipped and had their first two vaccines done. They also came with medical records so you can provide this info to the vet. Both kittens are very healthy, playful, and absolutely adorable!! We love them very much and thank you Seattle Feline Rescue for bringing this bundle of lucky joy into our family.

Last year, I began volunteering at SAFR. It was during one of my shifts that I noticed a teensy (2.2lbs!) black kitten in one of the enclosures, staring at me in a mixture of fear and 'adopt me' (or so I like to think). I had been intending to adopt a kitten for awhile, and I decided Now was the Time. A friend and I stopped by a Purrfect Pals adoption event the following day, but I didn't like the way it was set up (and couldn't get Teeny Kitten out of my mind), so we headed to SAFR shortly after they opened. It was busy and we had to wait, but I spent the time playing with my chosen kitten and hoping no one noticed her. Given that she preferred to huddle in the corner of her enclosure furthest from the door and looked utterly terrified when not attacking the glass whenever I passed a toy before it... mission accomplished! When it was my turn, I told the adoption counselor that I knew which kitten I wanted to see, and my friend and I got to pet her. I also picked her up, and after a moment she sprang out of my arms and went back to her corner to tremble in fear. But she purred when I was holding her, and I knew she was The One. The adoption process was very thorough; it took about 30 minutes before me and Teensy Kitten were out the door with all our paperwork. She came microchipped, spayed (of course) and with her first round of shots, in addition to a certificate for a free first vet exam. SAFR can make a recommendation, but I already have a cat and thus a vet, so I called to confirm they would take the certificate (which they did, so insert advertisement for Urban Animal). They have everything you could need for your new pet -- litter/boxes, carrier, food, dishes, toys -- right there as well, and as of May 2018, anyway, you also receive coupons to area pet stores. That was a year ago! Eleanor (formerly 'Wilma') has grown from a shy, terrified kitten into a playful, affectionate house panther with a love for re-arranging pillows and other stuffed objects. TLDR; SAFR has everything you need for your new pet, and the staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable about what they do. Also: give shy kittens a chance, they might surprise you once home!

    Nap time!!!

I adopted 2 (9 week old) kittens the day of. The staff members are happy to be there and recommend everything to ensure a happy and easy acclamation for your kitty! When coming to this location you will be able to browse the selection of cats and kittens they have in. There are walls of cat toys and stations of food, bowls, cat litter everything you could need. It was an understandable price you play for the long run and fun of these babies. I recommend being fully ready for the responsibility of new kittens, clean your designated area for your cats before taking them home and being fully educated. They are a responsibility and take as much time as a baby would. During the adoption process they inform you about everything and provide links to explore, plants that can be harmful, foods, etc ALSO PLEASE DONT BUY A REGULAR COLLAR BUY A "BREAK-AWAY" To prevent any potential situations that could be harmful to you cat(s) Much love A happy customer

I came in on a Friday after work to look at the latest batch of fostered kittens now up for adoption and found two cute little ones. They also have some older cats ranging in age but I was looking for a kitten to replace my long time cat that died. I like this place because the work with found kittens or stray prego cats that need a safe place and foster out kittens until they are able to be adopted. The down side is that around the holidays the kittens go quickly and there is little to no real time that you can spend with kittens. They don't let the kittens on the floor and there are no rooms to let them down in so you are kinda cornering them in their home to try and see their personalities. That being said, the staff that worked with me through the adoption were super nice and let me take some time with the kittens. I think I stood there for a good 10 min trying to get the kittens used to me and let me pet them. I ended up adopting two wee ones and was able to take them home that day. They also have food there that the kitties have been eating so I didn't need to stop anywhere to get food or litter. They have everything there and all proceeds go back to the kitties. So if you adopt, it's $200 for a pair and you can only adopt kittens in pairs. They come fixed microchiped, and with a free basic check up at a vet nearby. This is cheap and again, any proceeds go back to the kitties.

I can't speak for the adoption process itself, but as a volunteer, I am a little disappointed. As of this review, I have been out of work since late February and I really wanted something to occupy my time. I love cats and I don't have any of my own, but I previously volunteered at Purrfect Pals and had a great experience. Since the pandemic is going on, I have only been able to do a few projects for SAFE, such as addressing Gotcha Day cards, cutting material for blankets and today, I drove all the way to Capitol Hill Lynnwood to pick up about 10 good sized boxes for a donation from Mudd Bay and then drove it back to the center. I'm sorry to say that it seems like every time I do a volunteer project, I don't feel like the effort is appreciated. When I arrived this morning to get my "assignment", the person I spoke with was the same person that I had interacted with on Facebook (ie: the same person who posted the request for someone to pick up the stuff) and she gave the impression that she didn't know anything about it. It was partly my fault for not communicating clearly, but she shut the door and left me standing there, so I was unable to correct myself right way. I saw a man pull up in a car and he went to ask a question and was turned away, but I honestly don't know what the situation was. However, he didn't look happy. I am sure this organization is okay, but driving all the way there and then all the way to Capitol Hill was time consuming and it would have been nice to feel more appreciated. I also had my Honda Fit packed with boxes and although the woman helped me get them from my car and she did say thank you, it didn't sound that sincere, unfortunately. SAFE isn't that close to where I live and if Purrfect Pals was accepting volunteers, I'd much rather work for them. They seem to be more appreciative and their locations are a lot more convenient.

Wife and I went here to adopt a cat. At first we were looking for a little kitten but the person that was helping us told us we couldn't just adopt one kitten and kittens (Younger than 8months) would come in pairs only. But wife and I had an open mind. The person that helped up showed us the right match of Chana and she happened to be the only single cat there at the time. She's a 1 year old Tortie and immediately she was sweet and we ended up liking her right away. The adoption process was super easy and very informative. Person helped us with all our questions and gave us many great suggestions and tips. I never had experienced having a cat or liked them but made me feel very comfortable to getting one and having the knowledge to care for one. The adoption process was very thorough and easy. I also liked how they help the community out with giving food supplies to other shelters and people that need help to feed their pets. I wish I remembered the name of the guy that helped us. I wanna say thanks for making it easy and matching us with our cat Chana. Upon taking the cat home we got some food some litter and coupons for free food and litter to Mud Bay. I'm glad my wife and I went through Seattle area feline rescue.

I love Seattle Area Feline Rescue! This local cat rescue helps find homes for cats and kittens and often takes in sick and injured cats in need of help. Everyone here is very friendly and helpful. They have a variety of adorable cats and kittens and offer same day adoptions so you can take home your new kitty friend right away. They also have a small retail shop with cat supplies and other fun things to buy and all of the money you spend supports the rescue so it's for a great cause! My husband and I adopted two kittens here last year and we absolutely adore them. We recently stopped in again to say hi and pick up a few fun things from their shop. If you want to adopt a cat or kitten I highly recommend checking this place out!

I've fostered and adopted from SAFe and had great experiences. The staff is very communicative and the kitties are taken care of. Excited to see how they flourish in their new space soon!

Harley Quinn (nee Little Salty) has a fascination with water...she must get it from her Mom!

I have wanted a cat for years!! Unfortunately, living in an apartment has some restrictions. So as soon as my landlord gave the OK, my husband and I drove to SAFe! What's really cool about this organization is that they have a Facebook page entitled "Adopt-Less-Adoptable Cats." During one of their posts they highlighted a female black cat that recently had kittens. I knew that moment I saw her those girls were meant to be mine! The crew at SAFe were so welcoming when we first entered, allowing us to look around and just engaging in pleasant conversation. They led us directly to the momma cat and her kitten and when I saw my husband interact with them, I knew it was meant to be! The staff and volunteers were able to answer all our questions, showed us all of their records, and even informed us that their initial vet check, within 2 weeks of adoption, was part of the adoption process. Plus, the center also sells food, toys, carriers, just in case you need anything and all the money goes to a great cause. Now more than a month later, Ivy (the black cat) and her daughter, Harley Quinn (her kitten!!) have completed my little family! The girls do everything with us! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is interested in including an additional little body to their family!

Update 11/01/2018 - Stephanie renamed Litecoin is the most lovingest cat you'll ever meet. She loves being cuddled & giving me tongue baths & playing with a mouse or ball. She likes watching wild bird videos on TV We have been looking for a kitten for our 3 year old cat for a year now. Animal Talk pet shop in Lake City had a bunch of kittens but they wouldn't give us a single one. We have been to 4 other pet rescues before our vet recommended this place. Something is very wrong with Seattle when pets waiting for adoption are not given to folks wanting to adopt. The pet advisor we met asked a million questions. We ended up adopting a 2yr old friendly cat named Stephanie instead of kittens. Then they read you every line of the 6 page form. They don't even give you a box to take your pet home. $12.99 for a cardboard box. Such a scam. Their excuse is that they are non-profit. So is the Humane society. The Humane society pets have all their shots too. Anyway, I filled out paperwork, paid & went to the car & told my son to bring the cat. My son came out after 20 minutes to say Stephanie got nervous & scratched someone. I said just get her. The vet's office is closing in 30 minutes. Pet's here don't have their shots. My son went back in, another 15 minute, comes back out to say they won't give us the cat. So I go in, all three women are flustered & have fear in their eyes & started telling me about their traumatic experience. Really? You work in a pet shelter! I grabbed the box from her & said we are fine & walked out before they could make more excuses. They had Duct taped the cat carrier as if Stephanie was a devil cat who would unclasp the 3 locked positions & eat us alive on the drive home. OMFG! WTF is wrong with pet adoption places in Seattle. This is the 5th one we have been to just to adopt a cat! Needless to say we missed the vet appointment. So frustrating.

This is Ramses. The most interesting cat in the world. Sock hunter extraordinaire and all around best friend. Adopted 10/2012
