This is a large, open shopping mall kind of place. It is near the Space Needle, and built in the old National Guard Armory...thus its name. The part we traversed seemed to be a gaga antic food court, with everything from a Starbucks to pizza to ice cream. Their is a large stage where community groups perform. The afternoon we passed through, a local children's dance troupes was putting on their dance show. A local group of model train enthusiasts also have a Christmas Village sat up, and that was fun to see. read more

I swear I was just here a year or so ago and the place was bare, like maybe a few stores to the point that it looked to be empty except for the Subway and Starbucks.... NOT the case anymore!!! When I last came to the Center House (over a year ago at this point) I was not aware that it had been renovated/renamed. I was disappointed because I really wanted a Frankfurter and some lemonade, and maybe some taffy and/or ice cream. Those places were gone. (I did find one very small stand that had taffy/popcorn in the back corner, but it wasn't open.) Steamers is gone now too, sad face. (It looks like there's only one in Tacoma now, as the ones on the waterfront are also gone. Bummer. They had the best salmon and chips.) I wasn't really sure where to go, but eventually settled on Quincy's (hamburgers). Unfortunately all the burgers on the menu had somewhat esoteric names that did not indicate what they had on them. So, naturally, I had to ask what toppings the "Quincy Burger" had, and the cashier was like "Baconlettucecheeseonionspickles." Ok... sorry I asked? The burger was good though. My partner went more recently and said they have since added a list of what's on each burger, so that problem is solved. Word on the street is the bagels are awesome, I haven't had a chance to try one yet though. Overall I can see why they updated the space, it was pretty depressing before, but I do still REALLY miss the fresh-squeezed Frankfurter lemonade. read more

The Armory is one of my favorite places to each lunch, when in the area. It's a big open food court with natural light, a stage and they've even got a little nature theme going one. Anyways, yesterday I went there for lunch with my team and accidentally left my purse hanging on the chair. After lunch I walked back to the office in blissful oblivion. I only realized, 5 hours later (as I was leaving work) that my purse was missing. I called their customer service and the very nice lady working there said that one of their work staff had found it and I was able to retrieve it from them at any time. With my faith restored, I am certain to go there again soon. The food options that they have available are simply too good to pass up! read more

we enjoyed our time here, walking downtown Seattle with my 4 daughters (ages between 6 and 12), with my sister and my niece, we went to armory to eat some lunch, so many choices from pizza to sub sandwiches to hamburgers, everybody eat something different from different places and got refill to keep walking. Prices varies between $8-$30 for food depending of what you order and where. there are some free shows in the Plaza on weekends but you need to know the times and the events because is not all the time. read more

This place has seen many changes over the years, and after a recent upgrade, it is seems to be better than ever when it comes to being a cultural center, children's destination, and a sort of hub for various Seattle Center events. My favorite upgrade is the localization of the available food options. Of course, there is a Subway and a Mod Pizza, but you also get local favorites like Pie and Skillet to chow down on. This makes for an even more enticing option when it comes to giving suggestions to out of towners on where they should go for food and entertainment. read more

Came here with my wife and daughter. We all had different things to eat. My daughter got a bagel with cream cheese, I got a pot-pie, and my wife had bbq chicken. We all enjoyed our meals. There were more than (5) choices of different restaurants to eat, so it worked out. It was also located close to the space needle, and the glass garden, as well as the museum. Wow! what an improvement! Before the renovations I always felt so hesitant about even walking into this place. it was just so germy and you didn't really know what any of the food vendors were and some of them seemed sketchy to eat at...it may not be 100% clean but it definitely seems cleaner than before and it's so nice to have more familiar and reputable eateries. I love skillet, mod, starbucks (which was always there), and pie! This isn't a review of the Center itself, however, it is for the Plum market which was one of the decent places to eat during the Bumbershoot festival that was vegan and gluten free. It was pricey, however, at least I know that I was eating healthy. The service was really good and the girl at the til was ubber sweet. read more

This place is great. Lots to choose from. My older daughter had the Chinese food which was not great. The place was being run by hipsters so we should have known. I really enjoy the different local musical groups coming here to perform during the Winter Festival. I also like how they set out the train every year. It's fun watching the train go round and round. Incidentally, what's in the middle during other times of the year? I think I have only seen it when the Winter Festival is going on. I do think that the food in the Armory can use some work. The Skillet Counter here does not have as good of food as its other locations (but then again the Capitol Hill location has gone down in quality ever since it went brick and mortar, so maybe this is to be expected). I recommend eating at Mod Pizza. Even though it's not amazing, you do get a decent pizza relatively fast and it's inexpensive. read more

The Center House food court was really depressing. I mean one look at the last Pizza Haven was enough to make you curl up in a ball and listen to Portishead all night long. A section of vending machines with Mad Libs, and books in it? No thanks. The thing is, no matter what you do inside it will always be the Center House and have that stigma attached. I mean really, the nicest place to eat in there was Starbucks. And the only thing it was really good for was to get from point A to point B when it was raining. But that's all changed. Subway is still there (why?), as well as Starbucks, Seattle Fudge (for the kiddies?), and Quincys (A place I haven't eaten at since the 90's). Mod Pizza is a new option replacing Pizza Haven. I honestly don't remember all the people who were there that are no longer but it doesn't really matter. The Confectional has a spot now, as well as Skillet and Pie. There are other several other food venues to choose from besides the previously mentioned. It's honestly worth checking out if you're at the Science Center and don't want to eat any cafeteria food at their café. Or if you want cheaper food than what they serve at EMP. And honestly the food is better than half the vendors at Bumbershoot, Folklife Festival, and even Bite of Seattle... But bigger portions. And if you're at a convention in one of the halls... Way better than the crap they have (I remember seeing people eating the food at the Exhibition Hall and wanted to swat it out of their hand and say "You're welcome"). They definitely made the right call by changing the name. Not sure why they chose "Armory". And it just looks cleaner and happier. Though the bathrooms are still skeezy and if I were a parent I wouldn't even let my kid go in the stall unattended. If you have lived in Seattle for at least a few years... Don't be afraid to come inside what was the Center House. It's not even close to what you remembered and had nightmares of. read more

We ate here for almost every meal. Its not your typical food court, no panda express or sabarro here. All the restaurants located in this food court are offshoots of Seattle's best food. Every single restaurant was wonderful. Mod Pizza is so thin and crispy and fresh and the Pie place has the most tart/sweet blackberry pie. One of the security officers were very rude to me. I was just getting done with my singing ministry and then I had to go to the restroom. I walked in the armory and the officer told me that I had five minutes before closing. His tone of voice was extremely rude. I went to the bathroom then I came out and told him I understand you are tired and ready to leave but he had no right to be rude to me. He tried to cut me off and interrupt me but I told him off. So I'm never going back there again. What a huge turn off after seven years of busking at the Seattle center. Wow, the place is improved! I have taken many preschoolers and toddlers here. There's an endless amount of day time exploring you can do: Children's Museum, performers on stage, the winter train, Día de los Muertos face painting, crafts, art and people watching while eating. You don't even need to eat at any of the great restaurants inside. You can just stop in because it's lunch time, you need to change a diaper or you forgot the best ramp to the EMP so you roll on in to Customer Service and vwallah! You're good to go again. read more

We came here to check out Skillet Counter and were pleasantly surprised by the food court offering. A lot of fun stuffs to distract kiddo, like the seasonal miniature train tracks at the center of the food court. If you pay extra your kid can control the trains for a little bit. There is also Children's museum on the lower level which seems to be popular judging from the waitng line. I would give it more stars if I didn't use the men's restroom on the lower level. It seems to be the restroom of choice for the homeless. I'm all for free facilities for all but felt uneased by certain conduct of a homeless guy in a stall. read more

It's a small attraction, but a highlight of this center is the piece of Berlin Wall located inside. It's one of the pillars and has the plaque in front of it. Aside this, there are plenty of food options to choose from. A nice spot is the Confectional, which serves small cheese cakes like the prime location in Pike's Market. If you are in the area and are having trouble deciding what to eat, go there. There are plenty of choices for everyone. If you are downtown and want good food (Skillet Counter and more and more to come I hope), get on the monorail and you will be there in a quick minute. It is great for groups and kids. read more
