Disclaimer: I bought a bike from them via a non-standard process that resulted in me having no option to return, so my review is not going to be based on that. You should know they have a 14 day return window, which my problem fell outside of anyways. Ken and Jim are really great. They're super friendly and are willing to take the time to answer questions. However, this store in general seems to be unable to provide aftermarket support for some of their bikes. I bought a Cube from them, which is a European brand. The bike rack broke off. I brought it in, and they literally could not source the part. They asked me to source the part instead. I went through a hellish month of trying to order parts from international stores that resulted in the wrong items and lost packages, all the while being unable to commute to work on my bike. When I told them all of this, they told me to try to weld it because they couldn't think of another rack that would work (my research also showed the same). So I hired professional welders to do that, and it didn't work. The bike was a 2017 model, I bought it in 2021 (the previous owner of the company assured me any problems could be addressed; I obviously feel like I was lied to). It was $2000. It broke around April 2022. I later learned that this was a common problem on this model. When I bought my new bike from REI, I asked them for a second opinion, and I learned this is a reason why rear wheel mounted batteries are going out of fashion. I don't know who does the marketing, but it really doesn't feel great when I get a marketing email from Seattle Electric Bike touting how great the Cube is. Some of their current models still have the same rear-mounted battery. That led me to leave this review, because my experience says otherwise. read more

I was very disappointed in Seattle Electric Bike. I bought a Yamaha bike there back in 2023. The bike was still under warranty. The charger broke. When I called and emailed them about it, I received no response. When I went down to the store, they told me that they do not support Yamaha ebikes and were unable to help me with the battery. It was very disappointing. If I had gone to Rad Powerbikes or another dealer who supports their bikes, this would have no been a problem. read more

We have been in the market for an EBike and went to this shop to specifically test ride the Raleigh and to see what else we might be interested in. We are pretty knowledgeable about the type of EBike we want as we own some in our other home in San Diego. We were very pleased to discover a brand we didn't know. It was the Kalkhoff bike from Germany. They didn't have the Raleigh I wanted to test but I was intrigued by the Kalkhoff and while I was at it I also test rode the Giant. Having shopped a number of places and bikes I knew immediately when I got on the Kalkhoff that this was my bike. The fit was great and the ride was smooth, zippy, fun and everything one would want in an ebike. My salesperson, Brandon was excellent as he was able to articulate to me the finer points of the Kalkhoff versus the Giant. I appreciated that he was not a pressure sales guy, just a very knowledgeable bike guy that helped me make an informed decision. read more

I bought an electric bike from here after many years of riding a mountain bike. I guess I finally got tired of Seattle steep hills. About a month later, my bike got damaged through a garage door slamming on it. There was damage on my front wheel as some spooks came off. I thought the bike was done but the good news was that Jim the Ballard manager reached out and offered to look at the bike to make sure that I could safely ride again. They are great at selling bikes and accessories. But their customer service is poor, to say the least. Once they've sold you a bike, they treat you like a captive customer. There is no way to contact any of their individual stores by phone. And when I tried to call to make a service appointment using the phone number on their website, I got what was apparently a central operator, who told me to fill out an online form and they would get back to me. Can you imagine a car dealer's service department or any other bicycle shop doing that? Oh, and by the way. They guy I spoke to said that it might be several days before they got back to me, and that the service appointment would be two or three weeks after that. I've been in their shop a couple of times. They appear to have a relatively volume, but only one mechanic. Any other high volume bike shop would have two or three mechanics. Do yourself a favor. Buy your eBike from a real bicycle shop. read more

My girlfriend and I made a trip down from Bellingham to look at E bikes at a few different stores. When we stopped in here we mentioned we'd just been to Rad bikes. That was met with a snide comment about their bikes being an upgrade to Rad's, and that was about it. No prices on bikes. No info sheets on bikes and zero information offered. Right before getting to Chuck's Hop Shop after a beautiful ride my rear tire blew on my RAD city electric bike. Naturally I consider myself lucky that there was a electric bike shop within a block. I rolled my bike into the shop and was greet d with confused looks from the staff (-1 Star), I explained to them that my rear tire had blown and that I wanted a quote for a tube replacement. The Tech recommend replacing the rear tire as it was worn and not a very good quality one to begin with (Fine) and there was a added fee for replacing tires on wheels with hub motors (again totally fine) but the Tech was very distracted and I almost felt like I was asking for a huge favor rather than paying for a service (-1 Star) After returning in 30min to pick-up the bike the Tech explain that he had replaced the rim tube grip without calling me and charged me for it ($8 part, not such a huge deal but would oh liked to see if there were options) Later when paying for the Service the Tech charged me $199 rather than $119, the transaction was cancelled but lingered in my account pending for 3 business days (-1 Star) And after ALL THAT while trying to correct the issue and charge my card again a salesman or owner came out with pushy sales tactics trying to demo a $2500 bike while I had just payed to repair my $1200 bike (-1 Star) Overall, really poor Experience that killed my Saturday. Will avoid in the future for sure and recommend you do to. read more

I usually make my purchases online. After visiting several LBS in Seattle, they didn't seem to know much about their Stromer, Specialized and Trek e-bikes, which is very disconcerting since your spending several $k. After stopping by Seattle Electric Bicycles, I met the owner, Stefan and his store staff. Stefan and the staff were extremely polite, knowledgeable and not pushy. I took a lot of their time w/ questions and test rides. After my experience there, I knew I was going to purchase my e-bike there and not online. They also happened to have a lot of great sales going on. I decided on the Bulls Six50 E2 Street and a Body Float. The bike wasn't in stock and was special ordered. Week later I received the bike. The bicycle handles and rides great, especially with the Body Float. It's pretty zippy, even in the "tour mode", which is #2 of the 4 modes (eco, tour, sport, turbo). I'll have a better idea of the range later this week. As far as handling, it was great. I'd strongly recommend anyone in the Seattle and surrounding areas check out Seattle Electric Bikes. They have really good selection of mid-drive and rear-drive bicycles. read more

I was able to assemble it and get it going, but I was terrified to ride it without having it checked out by some pros. I brought it by SEB, they did a basic check, including replacing a brake caliper that came bent from the manufacturer and hooking me up with a longer seat post, and had me on my way in less than 40 minutes! I purchased an Ohm Sport XS750 approximately 5 years ago from SEB. I thought the service was great then. I now have a failing battery which is expected given the age & mileage. I stopped by SEB to ask about my options and was surprised by the lack of support. They basically badmouthed Ohm saying they can no longer get in contact with them and I'm pretty much out of luck unless I want to buy a used battery off of eBay or look into having the battery rebuilt. It's so disappointing when businesses do not support the products they sell. I spent nearly $3,000 on this bike and they are essentially saying that I need to junk it and buy a new one. I can say one thing...if I do buy a new ebike it will not be from SEB. They may want to rethink their business model. read more

I spent 2 hours test riding e-bikes at Seattle Electric Bikes on two different days this spring. David and Stefen (the owner) were kind, informative, fun and very patient; they took me out riding in the neighborhood, and we switched bikes half-way through our rides. The e-bike selection is great, and I left with a bike that felt and rode better than any bike I have ever owned. David spent a lot of time helping me tinker with fit (e.g. new seats, different handlebar angles). I've put 50 miles on the bike in the past two weeks, and couldn't be happier. The kids in the front are ok, but watch out. I bought a $4,000 bike from them. The owner didn't even know that the computer could be removed from the bike. I was told that I would get a discount on all items I bought with the bike, which I did not. Watch out for the owners, the husband will tell you one thing and the wife will refuse to keep his promise. Additionally, when I had a failing part for my bike, they were unable to help me. I found it easier and cheaper to buy from an electric bike company in San Diego (no taxes). I wouldn't have bothered writing, but they keep sending me junk emails and I have twice told them that if it doesn't stop they will receive a review of their poor service and for profit dishonesty. Wow, what a great experience! I came here in search of an electric bike for my commute. Was helped by David who was extremely friendly, well-informed, attentive, helpful...basically any positive adjective you can think of. They are in a great location for testing electric bikes. David took me on a test ride and he was a great guide. I found something I liked and didn't feel pressured to buy anything I didn't want. I was able to walk out the door with the bike so that I could start ebike commuting today! I love the bike so much - I went with a Haibike SDURO Trekking SL. It is relatively affordable for an ebike while still having the power and range that I wanted. Some of the other reviews mentioned less than excellent customer service - I personally didn't experience anything that was any different than any bike store. Sorry but after attending the Electric Bike Expo, I would say the owner "Stephen" is a bit stuck up or looks down on you. Please be less rude and consider that some young folks have the money to purchase a Haibike Xduro. Very disappointed. Do you judge a book by its cover? Why even bring this full suspension bike to the expo if you need people to "have a checkbook ready in order to ride it". This event is for people to experience e-bikes and to test them. "where every day cycling enthusiasts can come and learn, test ride and experience the electric bike" -Electric Bike Exp I have come to the store front several times to see your bikes but honestly this experience has made me not want to step foot into this store or have any bikes serviced here. I am no first time rider, I currently own a Trek XM700 for show, a Clean Republic Hill Topper for commuting, and an e-Rad 750 bike for power. Im well aware that E-bikes cost an arm and a leg but they are worth every penny. Haibikes are not even expensive compared to the Stromer ST2 S. Please consider purchasing at Seattle E-bike (near the stadium) and not Seattle Electric bike up north. Sadly enough I have to find a 2017 OHM dealer else where since this place will make me feel like an idiot. read more

I recently purchased a Felt hard tail mountain bike with a Bosch motor from Seattle Electric bike. I did this for several reasons. My research indicated the Bosch system was the way to go and Seattle bike carries several brands with Bosch plus others to compare it to. I have walked in to the store several times just looking and Stephan the owner encouraged me to take a ride. Since I was in a hurry and undecided about committing, I declined. Fast forward one year and I finally took that ride. Not only did they let me ride one for a half hour but rode with me while I traded off to compare bikes. I still didn't commit. I came back a few weeks later and Stephan rode with me letting me switch sizes of bikes. He was informative, courteous and just a good guy. Needless to say, I finally did commit and have been extremely happy with the bike and the experience. This shop is amazing . A test ride of any of their bikes includes an escorted ride with a salesperson who knows their businesses. You don't just get told to go around the block!! They are super friendly and have great advice and knowledge about the product. I bought a hiride and they suggested a kinekt seat which was the best advice. My hiney is so happy on my 10 mile commute each way. I'm officially a bike commuter. Seattle Electric Bike is Seattle's only Magnum dealer, so when my Magnum Ui5 electric bike's electrics stopped working, Magnum told me to go to them. Milo was able to diagnose and fix the problem (a broken connection within the frame that needed to be re-soldered) within a day. I'm super happy to have my bike fixed, as I use it for my daily commute and love riding it (when the motor is working!). They charged me an extra $115 one-off "dealer-fee" since I hadn't bought the bike from them, which made the repair fairly expensive, but that seems fair enough. read more

I tested all the bikes I was interested in and they did not push at any time. They gave me plenty of time to look, test, think and look again while staying engaged and making sure I was going on the right direction. Seattle Electric Bike is great I bought a bionx kit and they included the installation and have also been very accommodating with additional work I wanted (adding fenders). To top it off the product is excellent. The BionX kit is superb. An electric bike will change your biking life -- commute you dreaded becomes easy, riding to the store becomes fun and want to do instead of something you ought to do.
