Do not do business with this company. They are theives, they will not answer their phones or respond to email. Placed an order because they are a Northwest company. After waiting a week with no response, and constant prodding, they finally shipped my order. Their website has a check box to be notified if actual shipping charges are more than $10 over what their automated system calculated. When my credit card was billed, shipping was more than double what was calculated, an additional $30. When I complained via email about the shipping charge, absent notification about it, they said they would credit me the $30 and never did. They also forgot to ship, or never had in stock another product, however they charged my credit card for the purchase and never gave a credit. They provided a UPS shipping number for the missing material, however the next day the tracking number showed cancelled. Sounds like a case of theft by deception to me. Should have read the Yelp reviews before I sent money to this shady outfit. Stay away, there are many more suppliers out there that will be honest and deliver what they promise. I now understand why they do not allow walk in traffic or will call, because they line of people at the door would not be there to pick up an order, they would be there to complain and file theft charges. Hopefully this review will cost them far more in lost business than the $39 they stole from me and it will prevent another prospective customer from having their hard earned dollars stolen. read more

Im sure as a brick and mortar store this place is incredible but their online department has problems. Ive placed 3 orders with them, the first took two weeks to arrive and was supposed to be 3-5 days. I emailed and never got a reply. The third order I paid for rush shipping to be shipped the same day and it didnt ship for a week. I also arrived with missing items. What they sell is great but plan for a slow or disorganized experience. Ive called several times about the problems and nothing was extended to make up for the lack of service. read more

I placed my order on December 4th and they didn't process it until the 17th. Half of my project's order is from Peak Fabrics. I paid $20 for shipping and it arrived promptly (within a week). By comparison, the other half is from Seattle Fabrics. it took 13 days to get an invoice, despite check-out suggesting it should only take 2-3 days. Shipping is expensive too. $37 for essentially 5 metres of fabric (folded not rolled) and a few zippers? Like a lot of vendors of hard-to-obtain materials (ie: Eccosorb), this is one of those businesses that takes so much pride in their product that they no longer care for service. read more

I ordered 2 pieces of Neoprene from their website. Both were supposed to be 3mm thick. When I received it in the mail, one piece was 3mm, but the other piece was 5mm - nearly 2x the thickness stated and too thick for the purpose which I needed it. I called the company to get the problem corrected and was appalled at how completely unhelpful and rude the 3 people [including a manager and the owner] were. The owner kept telling me how he didn't want to lose on the sale, so I guess that means the customer should be the one to lose?! And for their mistake, no less! Nice way to treat a customer. After much back and forth with the owner, he was unwilling to budge. He would only replace the piece that was too thick if I was willing to "eat" the shipping charges. I'm not willing to pay for their mistake. Instead of trying to negotiate with an unreasonable business owner, I opened up a charge dispute through the credit card company. I don't know why I tried again to shop here. I should know better, since the following experience has been the norm more often than not. Today my goal was to find sun protection fabric. I cruised the entire store and didn't find anything labeled SPF. There were no sales staff on the store floor at all, so there was no one to ask. There was one person working with some heavy fabric bolts at the back of the store, but he clearly was neither interested in nor available for customer service. The two people who had been waiting for at least 15 minutes at the counter were still there when I walked out. I believe in supporting local brick and mortar stores, but I've given up on Seattle Fabrics. I've had wonderful telephone customer service with the Rain Shed in Albany, Oregon, so they are going to get my outdoor fabric dollar from now on. read more

One star reviews? Really? Granted, the service is probably the worst I've come across, and that's including JoAnn's Fabrics. But this place is a Seattle gem and probably the best in the entire country for outdoor fabrics. I'd prefer to shop elsewhere due to the lack of helpful employees, but I've never found anything that comes remotely close to offering such a superb selection of materials and outdoor notions. This business could rise to a whole new level if they'd work on SERVICE, but since it's the only place in town - or rather, in the country! - that offers fabulous neoprenes, varieties of rip stop nylons, many types of polar tech, wonderful selections of colored velcros and outdoor zippers plus much, much more, I'll take what I can get. They seem to figure anyone shopping there already knows (or should know) what they need and can find it themselves. In my case that's true for the most part, but I'd probably spend ten times as much if an employee could offer suggestions for using the various products or steer me away from ones that really won't work the best for certain applications. read more

Completely uninviting. I walked in, made eye contact with the guys working there, and they just stared at me with bored, uninterested eyes. I smiled and said, "Hi," and all I got was a head nod from one, and a listless "hello" from another. I asked a third guy if they carried ribbing and he said, "yeah, right there." as If EVERY body knew where the ribbing was but me. They do carry quite a large supply of outdoor fabric as well as fleece, just next to nothing for apparel. So if you're looking to make some boat sails or back yard tents, check it out. Just don't expect good customer service. read more

Seattle Fabrics has lots of great stuff which is hard to find somewhere else, but that's where the positives end. The staff has no clue about customer service. If you ask where something is, they point you in a general direction and go back to chatting with co-workers. Ask them a detailed question or a recommendation (e.g. what webbing will work best with a particular buckle) and they just shrug. I suppose since they have a niche market, they can get by with such clueless/rude behavior, but if would be great if they management would teach the retail staff some basic customer service. read more

I'm not sure if these bad reviews were even at Seattle Fabrics because they are AWESOME! First, it's a small store that's reminiscent of New York, New York: instead of a large warehouse, there's bolts upon bolts of fabric/insulation/cording/ribbing stacked UPWARDS. The selection is the same as any other outdoor DIY needs, except there's no shipping for us locals ;-). I'm a garment sewist and so I only need supplies for coats and pants, but I can always find what I need there and leave feeling like I got a steal. The prices are incredible and there's even a selection of remnants for even more savings. Making a jacket? They have ribbing by the yard! Most importantly is that the staff makes you feel like you're their friend. I went on 01/06/2016 and worked with Felipé, one other guy (sorry!), and a woman whose name I believe is Dana. Forgive me. I have Graves' Disease and my memory is awful. Anyways, every time I come in, it's like Cheers minus the alcohol. They're all so friendly and try their best to help when they can. Awesome place. I came here to buy fabric to make a cover for our outdoor off-set smoker. The fellas here were knowledgeable. Had a fair selection of outdoor sewing patterns to make your own tent, outdoor gear/clothing, etc. Looked like a fun place to spend some time. I stopped in with a jacket that had the zipper pulls broken off. I initially anticipated replacing the whole zipper, which would have been extensive. When I popped into the store Leland offered to help me find what I was looking for. After explaining the situation and showing him the jacket he proceeded to pick out the necessary supplies and proceeded to do the easy repair within a few minutes. He explained it easily so that I will be able to do the same at home for future repairs. Two new zipper pulls and a small amount of time and $ and I was on my way. Don't shop here ever!!!!! Yes it's true the first thing you notice when you walk through the doors are all the sales people... if you can call them that they have either falling sleep on the job and the Pod People have taken over their bodies or their Lithium meds are too high!!! They won't look at your or address you in any why in less they have too! Several look like it's their day away from the Institution. When you ask for help it's like your bothering them...A LOT! Next the lighting is all wrong for picking out colors. I thought I was looking at a grey material. I asked one of the pod people.. Ops I mean sales people and she agreed it was grey.... Poor thing had to cut the fabric and roll it up all at once. It near killed her. The minute I got out side and put the fabric in the car the color changed from grey to a green shade. I took it back in to the same sales person and told her and all she could say was no returns and call the manager on Monday. Oh did I mention I am a handicapped person with crutches.... You would think they might try and help me out somewhat. I was going to purchase two or three more fabrics but after that HELL NO! The only reason this store is open is because it has the market cornered for the specialty fabric. But after being there I will go shop the internet... I will never shop there again. I don't expect someone to carry me about on a golden throne, but when I ask where something is, it'd be nice if the employee could be more active than grunting and flinging his arm in the general direction of what I'm searching for. If you need to fix or adapt your outdoor gear go there! You can find all the parts to fix your broken buckles, snaps etc.

I went there today to get help finding zippers the correct length for my project. First I looked around for what I needed. Not finding it I approached the desk and asked for help. He told me they didn't have zippers you could make a specific size and that what was over there is what they had. I thanked him and went back to look again. Right behind the zipper display were rolls and rolls of zipper tape clearly designed for the purpose of making a specific size that one might need. I looked back at the desk to see if the guy could answer questions about it and he was gone. There was one other man at the cutting table who never even once acknowledged I was there. I was so annoyed I did not bother to seek out someone to help me. I shopped at Seattle Fabrics when it was in Fremont and the service then was always great. I've been many times to the Aurora location and have never had good service. Not once. Most of the time there is no one on the floor to even ask questions. When I have made purchases they are curt and unfriendly. I am happy to find zippers and fabric elsewhere. read more

Working with Seattle Fabrics is frustrating. Their service is incredibly slow and their shipping options are outrageous. I ordered approx. $50.00 of materials. First they charge $4.00 just to fill your order then offer expedited shipping or pay an extra $10 to have them pull your order more quickly. I did not select the $10 extra charge for faster service or expedited shipping. As it is, my final bill was almost $80.00 on 50 bucks of materials. I placed my order over a week ago and I am sill waiting for it to be filled and shipped. The last time I ordered from Seattle Fabrics the service was really slow as well but I thought I would give them another chance. Obviously, their customer service practices have not changed. I understand things will be delayed slightly while working with pandemic regulations but they are taking advantage of this situation with charges for their service. Seattle Fabrics has virtually every outdoor-type fabric that you'd need, from sunshade to neoprene. They also have a ludicrous assortment of webbings and a nearly-random assortment of cams, buckles and connectors. A really useful and fairly comprehensive source for that kind of stuff. Prices are good, too. The staff don't mill around offering help, but when you ask for it, they're happy to provide. Small deduction for the slightly confusing layout, but high marks overall. read more

Seems to me that if they can't fill part of my online order - the blue checkerboard 1" webbing which they are out of - they should not tell me that they can't change any other part of the order since she already cut it. I went to Seattle Fabrics today to get some toggles for my son's drawstrings. I was greeted immediately when I walked in, and the friendly staff quickly helped me find exactly what I needed, and it was super cheap. The place is not pretty, but there's so much stuff there it was fun to get lost looking around. Every type of fastener under the sun, and an insane variety of fabrics. Have a canvas/upholstery business in Michigan. Ordered a roll of fabric because Seattle Fabric was significantly cheaper than our other vendors. Received the roll and the price was almost double of what I was told. Naturally, no one there gave me the price !!!! Now why would I order fabric at a higher price and have it shipped from Washington State when we have a vendor in in Chicago, IL.?!?! Called and got a return number and asked if there was a restocking fee. Was told "no". Needless to say I was charged $100.00 restocking fee. Live and learn. I've been here a half-dozen times or so. Today was the last straw. I needed dacron thread in navy blue and could only find a lighter color. I asked if they perhaps had a navy blue somewhere in the store. The guy looked in the same drawer I had looked in, then looked at the spool in my hand and said, "That's as dark as it gets." Huh? I *know* there is such thing as navy blue thread. It's as if they just didn't want to go the extra mile to help out a customer. Granted, they were busy (a whole four other customers in the store), but jeez could they have suggested another store or offered to place an order? I wish that I would have read the other reviews on this site before I placed my order. This business is a disaster. I made an account with Yelp just to tell everyone about my experience. My issues: 1) I was charged higher prices for at least three of the items I ordered. I was quoted one price when I placed my order, but charged another. 2) They didn't include all the items that I ordered. Yeah, they forgot to include some fabric I ordered. I am still waiting to hear what they are going to do about it. It's been two days. 3) The costumer service was terrible. I didn't know if my order had shipped (I was needing the items I ordered), but when I e-mailed it took two days for someone to get back to me. I had other issues and again, days to get a response. 4) I never got an e-mail telling me my order had shipped and I didn't know how much the shipping was until I looked on my credit card statement. 5) I received not one, but two separate calls because two of the fabrics they said they carried, they didn't have. I was badly in need of Polartec fleece so I broke down and purchased from this site. Mistake! I should have gone with Mill Direct Textiles. I would like to give them Zero stars. I drove there from Troutdale, Oregon and it took a while to get an employee's attention. When I finally got one to look at me I asked a question about a certain fabric and he just said "I don't know.". Then he walked away in a hurry. I run a business making dog clothes and they lost an opportuniy to have a customer who buys in bulk. There selection was also pretty limited. read more

Marcus was outstanding, very knowledgeable and willing to share. The rest of the gang was engaging and very helpful. This is an "I want to like this place, but just can't seem to" review. They have some great fabrics that you can't get anywhere else, but the customer service from one employee in particular (on Saturdays) is so horrible that it makes me not want to shop there any more. I have been in there the last two Saturdays (last Saturday being my first). Last week (my first time there), he was having a loud argument with one his co-workers when I first walked in, which made me uncomfortable right off the bat. Both times, he acted like I was putting him out by having him help me with anything (cutting fabric, ringing me up). When I asked him if I could help him with a bolt that looked awkward to pick up, he said he just needed me to get out of his way. I would have bought more stuff, but the whole experience was so unpleasant that I just wanted to get out of there. I mostly want the owner to know about this, because I would think they would want to know, as this is just bad for business. It makes me not want to shop there anymore. read more
