i ordered my ceiling fan on 11-13 and Seattle Lighting told me it was out of stock and would be quicker if they ordered straight from the maunfacturer and have it sent to my hose. typically 8 days. well after a month of waiting i contacted an electrician to have it installed and the day of installation they found out my 24" downrod was not included, even though the invoice showed it was and i was charged for it. i called Seattle Lighting and told them this is going on a 16 foot ceiling and the 3" downroad was not going to work. her response is just wait and we'll order the correct downrod for you. fine, i took the day of work for this and i have to pay for another service call for the electrician to come out. not happy, probably just take and throw this ceiling fan in the neighboors field and do what Seattle Lighting should have done in the first place.Rick Richardson rick@richardsonwelldrilling.com. order# Sh4909889 read more

My wife and I have bought a second house recently. In the last 2 weeks I have been into the store 3 times... and in all that time Will Call shined. Needless to say, I bought everything online and left yesterday because your Sales Staff needs an overhaul. The first time my wife and I came into the store. We were there for 30 minutes asked to be helped but like usual Sales People seems too busy huddled around 1 screen doing... something? For maybe one customer? Definitely laughing... Less then 24 hours later I came through to look at more expensive outdoor fixtures but who I will only describe as "Too Busy for your Cardigan" and " Assisting Long Hair Supervisor On Duty of Sales... currently" yeah you both were there and brushed my wife and us off the second time too!!! Which is why I told you I'm writing this review... Which brings us to yesterday... Nov 3rd. I'm Kraken. How are you? When your Sales essentially tells me they tried their best with out putting in brain cells to help a disabled person, I was done. Again. Will Call tried too redeem for Cardigan of Assisting but I'd rather extract the necessary information from the doofus and his mentor and order online or go elsewhere. Tried patiently to order a dated, no longer widely used bulb. Was assured they could provide it. Was given a date when it would come in. It didn't arrive on that date. Were called saying that it had arrived and to come in and pick it up. Wasn't there when we stopped in. Was told that it was at the warehouse and they would get things straightened. Didn't hear back for over a week. Finally decided to get a refund (we prepaid) and was met with unnecessary attitude from a (the?) manager as if it were our fault that we were given the run-around. We ended up pulling the entire fixture and replacing it with a new one not purchased at Seattle Lighting. read more

What a waste of time! We came in around 1pm on a Wednesday hoping to find 3 different chandeliers to update our home. We were prepared to drop some serious dough. Unfortunately it didn't feel like anyone took us for serious buyers. We walked around for probably 20 minutes before an employee asked us if we needed any help. I told him exactly what I was looking for. He sat us down at a table with a pile of catalogs. We were good sports, spending easily 30-45 minutes flipping through the mountain of catalogs. He checked on us at one point and I told him I had found one fixture I liked and needed to find coordinating fixtures. He simply gave me more catalogs. No offer to help me find the fixtures I was describing. I could have saved myself the drive to Bellevue and 2 hours that I'll never get back by just searching online. I came to what I thought was a premier lighting store in the area expecting to get guidance and to actually walk out having purchased 3 fixtures. Instead I just walked out. read more

I drove down south to Lamps Plus and while not as fancy, found a much larger selection, plenty of high-end looking fixtures that suited my needs, and super-friendly employees. Have to give big Kudos to Seattle Lighting Bellevue store Customer Service agent, Julie Frisbee. What an outstanding employee. I had an LED bathroom fixture that was still under warranty, that "burned out". Julie was able to assess the problem as a faulty driver unit and was able to allow a complete exchange for a new replacement fixture promptly and without any additional cost to me. She is a great asset to the company and knows her stuff! read more

Love that you can recycle your old fluorescent tube lights here for free. Our experience with customer service has been excellent. I rather be left alone while I look around, than have a sales person bother me while looking around. As soon as I find what I'm looking for I just go up to the back counter and they're more than willing to help me place my order. My experience was 'meh'. I could tell from the start, none of the staff was going to approach me since I was 'under dressed'. I was there to buy a few sets of track lights and over the course of 30 minutes or so, 10+ people came in and were assisted while I wasn't even greeted. I finally approached a sales agent AT THE DESK to get any service and she was very nice. I wish she knew more about the tracks/lights, but we muddled through it and I ended up buying twice what I needed, as she really ended up not knowing much of anything and just agreeing with me. The following day, I had to return a few things but due to their purchasing system, and some excuses, it took over a week for me to actually get my monies back. They have a fantastic selection of lights, but they CS is absolutely appalling and I won't be buying from them again. ::Note, this was the Bellevue store. What a nightmare trip I took to Bellevue to go to Seattle lighting. It's a shame what that chain has turned into. Not enough sales people for a busy Saturday, none of the light fixtures I saw on their website were in the store and quite frankly Home Depot has a better selection of bathroom vanity fixtures then they do. Don't waste your time coming to the store shop online or find a true lighting fixture store with actual people in it to help you. read more

Yesterday I stopped in at the Bellevue location of Seattle lighting, located where the cinemas used to be at SternCo Center, which is immediately south of Fred Meyer. I stopped in to drop off 12 long CFL tubes that I had fished out of a dumpster at my condo complex. These tubes contain mercury and should not be thrown in the trash. The mercury contaminates the ground water beneath the landfill. Instead, they should be recycled. Seattle Lighting is one place that accepts CFL tubes and bulbs, up to 10 per person per day(or maybe per week, I'm not sure), with a $.50 charge for each additional. But Julie, who was manning the front desk that accepts CFL tubes and bulbs, upon hearing that I had fished them out of the dumpster (as opposed to ones I owned), was gracious enough to not charge me for the extra two tubes. She was impressed with the fact that I did not leave them in the trash. And her green attitude and graciousness had impressed me to include Seattle lighting to shop for my lighting needs in the future. Thank you Julie! BTW, I have been here before to recycle CFL tubes and bulbs, with similar positive experiences with other employees. I say this to state that therefore this "green graciousness" is a pattern. I will remember this pattern when the day comes that I need to buy lighting. Nevertheless, I will not automatically expect it as $.50 charge for additional tubes over 10 per person per day/week did not seem excessive to me. read more

I like this place. We're doing a bunch of lighting updates in our house. The showroom has lots of interesting things to look at, although a lot of it is far too fancy or high-end for me. Isiah Smith has been very helpful while the spouse and I try to figure out what in the world we want. He has helped us wade through the overwhelming large number of choices and narrow it down to what we want. Their online presence, confusingly called Destination Lighting, has even more choices than the showroom. read more

My husband and I went in search of an entry light and only had 1-2 hrs to find something. A few salespeople approached us right away and asked us how they could help. We sat down with one of the sales reps and he took a lot of time flipping through catalogs with us, asking questions about the style, space, function, etc. We weren't clear what we were looking for and he helped us select a handful of designs and narrow them down through a process of elimination. We just installed the light and are thrilled with the style and quality. The light is perfect! We will definitely be returning for more fixtures. :) read more

My customer service experience here was pretty awful! I came into the store on a Saturday because the track lighting kit in my kitchen was broken and I needed to order some replacement parts. Customer Service told me that they didn't know the specific part number or price so would have to call the manufacturer on Monday in order to see what part it was and how much it would cost, and they would give me a call by noon to get me that information. Monday noon comes around, and no one calls me back, so I called them at around 1 to see what the status was. No one from customer service was available to take my call, so they had me leave a message and someone would get back to me. No one calls the rest of the day. I call again the next day to see, and again, no one from customer service is available to take my call. Since I now have 2 messages open (the original order query plus message), I decide to call again every hour to try my luck at getting service. Every time, no one is available to take my call. So now I try again the next day. By this point, I've been able to call the manufacturer myself to get the part numbers for them, and I can find them on Amazon already, but I still want to give our local business a chance. So the next time I call, I ask for someone from sales instead of customer service. No one from sales able to take my call either! Since I was kind of in a rush, I just told them to forget it, and I ordered from Amazon. Sorry, but after getting the run around for 3 days, it was about time to call it quits. The reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is because they have a decent selection of lighting and a nice showroom, and when I was able to talk to someone in person about some other lights, they were pretty helpful in pointing me in the right direction. But based on this experience, I probably wouldn't order from them. If I can't talk to an actual person about just checking the status of an inquiry, what would I do if I actually had something in process that wasn't showing up? These guys are the most helpful around and they have a terrific selection for those of us looking for a cheap lamp. I went in there and found a nice ceiling light in the discount section. The light needed to be cleaned up, but there was no actual damage to it. I got about 80% off of that light. Installed it and it looked terrific. It was missing a small nut (which I knew about before I bought it). I ran back to the store about 2 minutes before closing time. They could have refused to help since they were closing AND the part I wanted was for a lamp that came from the As-Is discount section. Instead, they not only gave me the small part free of charge, but they actually took it off of a floor model since they couldn't find the part laying around elsewhere. When they go the extra mile like that, I will definitely be back! read more

My wife and I opened a business over a year ago and all but two of the lights here were secured from Seattle Lighting in Bellevue. Now this is a lighting store... if you're looking for cheap or a bargain go to Lowe's or Home Depot. The fixtures here tend to be a little more expensive but the selection is infinitely better and the quality a definite improvement over the big box stores. We purchased over 80 low voltage ceiling track lights . These things have transformers in them and burn hot as hell when loaded with halogens. They're bright, but some of them died. Well, Seattle Lighting has replaced each and every dead one , even beyond the warantee date. Granted, we're a big customer BUT, I know customer service and replacing these lights was huge! Sometimes a LITTLE slow to return calls which cost them a star but it did not cost them my business. I'm a fan and will continue to utilize them as we expand and need additional lighting. read more

We visited Seattle Lighting at the recommendation of our electrician. We needed some new hallway lights, a monorail low voltage setup, and a new chandelier for our dining room. We found that Seattle Lighting had a pretty good assortment of lights and we were able to find most of what we wanted by looking at their displays. The real great thing about Seattle Lighting, though, was our sales person: Neil. He was very, very, knowledgeable about lighting options and design and took a lot of time to help us decide on the best choices for our home. He explained the pluses and minuses of the various types of light and bulbs and we really appreciated what he taught us. Like me, you may think that you might be able to buy what you want on-line. Believe me, if your installation is at all complicated, get some professional advice from these people. Go during the week when they're not crowded and you will be glad you did. read more

Hands down the best selection of lights around. No crap-tastic lamps like at Home Despot, Lowe(r)'s, or Lamps Plus-size. My wife and I were really pleased with the selection. I took a star off due to staff being somewhat inattentive. I like not being bothered, but I hate hunting down staff and I really, really dislike when someone on the staff complains about a sale at closing time in front of the customer (it wasn't the sales lady, it was a different staff person, but still...how rude). In a 15 minute walk through the store, we found more lamps and light fixtures that we actually liked than in our last 10 attempts at other stores to find acceptable lighting for our home. read more

I have 5366776 freaking bulbs now! The service is slow but, the workers are very nice so they get to keep an extra star. Came here over the weekend with my parents. The selection is very, very, very good. I have never seen so many light fixtures before. Everything also appears to be pretty quality and aside from what's in the show room, they also have a ton of catalogs you can go through for I'm sure more and more selection. Pretty awesome for anyone looking for fixtures. Now the bad: Customer Service - Cashier lady in the front knows nothing other than greeting people as they enter and checking you out. That's pretty sad. I also was visiting on a Friday morning, the place was quiet, yet only had 2 actual sales people working. It took forever to get some help. Lastly, my parents finally did get some help. Wanted to buy a specific light fixture. Was told it was discontinued, then so we were about to be sold the floor model. Then they offered to show us the "new" model coming in so we could order it. Took like 20 minutes to finally find the new model catalog. Then took another 20 minutes to find out they had no way of ordering it yet. Then when we went back to just trying to buy the floor model. The manager on duty told our sales person he wasn't allowed to sell us the floor model until the new updated version showed up. Thanks for wasting 1 hour of our lives and selling us nothing. 2 stars is for awesome selection, fair pricing, and the sales person when we finally found one being very helpful. but deduct 3 stars because it took forever to find someone to help us, and the manager basically wasting our time and not wanting to sell us a discontinued floor model after we were already quoted on the sale to buy it. *sigh*. read more

Great selection here, however we found the quality of the products we purchased were sub-par. We were not able to pick up the lamp until several days after the promised availability date. When installing the lamp, a ceiling-mounted track light, we found that several of the parts were machined incorrectly and would not screw on without cross-threading. In addition, both of the extra halogen bulbs we purchased were defective (one had cracked glass and the other appeared to have bits of kleenex inside of it). We had no problem returning the defective parts, however when we tested the new ones in the store, one of them still would not screw together correctly. After the third return we thought we were in good shape, but when we got home and tried to install the lamp there was another poorly machined metal piece that would not fit properly in one of the lamps. This will be our fourth trip back for one light fixture. read more

This was our second purchase from seattle lighting in bellevue. They have a wide selection, and it's really helpful to see the fixtures in person vs over the internet. salesperson Lucy was very knowledgeable. We want a fixture with more light and weren't sure which light fixtures and bulbs would provide more light in our kitchen. She calculated the lumens of our current light fixture and how many lumens we'd get the new light fixture. We were worried that the adjustable lights would feel chintzy, so she got on a ladder and moved them around so we could see the quality of the construction. What a waste of time! I went in on a weekday afternoon when there was no other customers inside. I was ready to order something. There were two ladies at the customer service counter, doing something on the computer. I made my presence clear, but neither one of them bothered to even acknowledge my existence. Finally, one of them looked up and asked if she could help. I told her what I wanted and unfortunately, the item I wanted was no longer available. I asked for similar items and she very reluctantly pulled out a catalogue. Throughout our limited interaction, she may have uttered 2-3 sentences. It was very clear that she had no intention of helping me. She must hate her job! read more

My husband and I are renovating a townhome in Kirkland. Early one Saturday morning we had to run to the hardware store to pick up some supplies. We saw a Seattle Lighting store across the street and decided to stop in to look at chandeliers (we will be replacing all the lighting the house). We were there a few minutes before the store opened. At 10:00 am an employee unlocked the door and let us in. She barely looked at us which we thought was odd because we were clearly on a mission to look at lighting. We spent 20 minutes or so looking around. Not one person came to see if we had any questions. It occurred to me that I was wearing an old sweatshirt, jeans and grubby sneakers and my husband was dressed about the same. I finally said I don't think anyone in here thinks we can afford to be in this store. My husband said I was just thinking the same thing. They have some very nice lighting and we were definitely going to buy, but since no one was interested in helping us, we left. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be a pattern. read more
