Absolutely terrible experience. I had hardwood and carpet installed The quality of the product sucks.. The installation was not complete and I had to hire someone to come out and finish it.. I get sad every time I see the obvious lines in the carpet because they tried to install two ends together and even though someone came out and attempted to fix it, they stated there's no way to fix this. I was also told that the installer would not change the height of the stairs however, they sanded them down unevenly and I fell on the stairs and received a black eye. The pricing is outrageous for the quality of the product and the quality of their service. I 1000% do not recommend.. read more

We bought carpet from Nielsen Brothers years ago and have continued to be treated as a preferred customer since. I went in recently for a bottle of Trio stain cleaner, and they gave it to me for free, so I felt compelled to report great customer service here. If you don't know about Trio, let me tell you that it alone is a good reason to buy flooring from these guys. It has worked many miracles on pet stains and worse -- my kid once spilled a bottle of blue tempera paint on carpet, and Trio removed it. The stuff is amazing, and as far as I know you can only get it at Nielsen Bros. read more

For background, in 2017, Nielsen Bros. replaced all the carpets in our house and tiled the floor in three other rooms. In 2019, Nielsen tiled a large game room as well as the floor to ceiling enclosure of a new gas fireplace. In all cases, our experience was first-rate. This past fall, we had to replace a different gas fireplace, so we stopped into the Bellevue store to see if the same tile guy was still around and, if so, to arrange for a tile surround to enclose the fireplace. When the project was initially completed, the tile layout and edge treatment were not what we expected. Without flinching, Nielsen offered to make the changes we requested, even offering to re-do the whole job if necessary (which it turned out not to be). The workmanship was excellent and the company's determination to get it right is much appreciated and admired. We could not be happier with how it turned out! read more

Floors and installation was an absolute disaster. Customer service was sub par, dishonest, and corrupt. We prefer supporting local businesses, but regret supporting this company. We attempted multiple times to discuss a resolution for the flooring issues. The owner was full of excuses, stall tactics, defensive, and dismissive of our concerns. We had independent flooring appraisals from other companies visit the area and they all unanimously agreed it was inept installation. The flooring didn't even last a full year before we had to remove them entirely and hire a competent company to do it correctly. Save yourself the headache and time - go to a place that can do it right the first time. read more

We ordered material through Nielsen Brothers after viewing products in their Lynnwood showroom. They have a great selection and were attentive to our needs. Sadly, we discovered the flooring was not compatible with our home after delivery. Mike was sympathetic to our problem and did not hesitate to help us coordinate a return when Nielsen Bros did not have other materials that fit our needs and budget. He even offered some helpful advice on how we should proceed with our flooring, knowing that we would use a different supplier and contractor for our job. All in all, Nielsen Bros had fantastic customer service and wide selection of high-quality products. When we have future flooring needs, we would love to do business with the company. read more

We looked at a few local flooring stores for a wool carpet purchase and Nielsen Brothers not only had the best and larger selection of high quality wool carpet, but they also were the only store with transparent pricing listed at the store. Kiran provided the best customer service. She was professional and helpful. She followed up with us every step of the way, providing updates and confirming dates/times/availability. The measuring process was smooth and so accurate. We had barely any leftover carpet- the sign of excellent measuring and installation. Of all the reps we spoke with, Kiran at Nielsen Brothers was by far the most knowledgeable, helpful, engaging, and personable. From the moment we first came into the showroom, she took the best care of us - listening to our needs and concerns, addressing all of our questions, offering her expertise and guidance to help us navigate things that weren't even on our radar, and ultimately helping us make a decision on carpeting that meets all our needs (including easy cleanup for cats with chronic G.I. challenges) and looks amazing! The team that actually did the actual installation was wonderful as well. They were efficient and professional, and did a fantastic job in all our spaces (including 4 bedrooms, closets, and stairs). It's been a few months now and I still wander around from room to room, up and down the stairs, admiring the carpet. Our home looks like a brand new house. Worked with Nia. I needed new laminate flooring to replace my old carpet in the entryway. Nia was very helpful in choosing laminate type and scheduling the installer for us. Response time was great, and we were able to get the installer and material in within a week. I appreciated that the store is open on Saturdays! The installer was professional and cleaned up after he was done. One minor downside, the quote they provided was higher than others around the area, but after some research I decided to go with Nielsen and didn't regret it. Highly recommend! read more

I've had hard woods installed twice, I really like the durability of the Canadian wood they carry. It's the poor job of installation and poor customer service that's the problem. The first repair I had done took me weeks to get resolved. I will be calling again for a repair on the same floor a second time. If I had this to do over again, I wouldn;t use this company and it appears not many others would either. Ending up being less then thrilled with the customer service. My order that was supposed to be in was messed up on their end and only half arrived. When the two guys came to install it they stood and looked confused as to how to get the carpet under our bed. Seriously - this is what you do for a living? How could this be confusing. Ended up font being able to accomplish the goal and left. My husband and I had to move the furniture to lay the carpet under the bed. Did it take some work, sure but I don't believe for the amount of money we paid we should have had to do the work. I should specify we ordered carpet like rugs but basically same thing. Negative stars for customer service. We purchased and had carpet installed in October 2013 for two rooms in our daylight basement area. We were supposed to have the remnants 'hemmed' and returned to us as a carpet runner. No. We were supposed to receive a written receipt and then an email receipt. It took until June of 2014 to get the receipt which I didn't NEED until I vacuumed one morning and the carpet frayed where it seamed with the tile. I called to schedule a repair and couldn't be put on the calendar for two weeks, July 1st. July 1st I was scheduled for 8 AM in the morning. By 10:15 I called the shop as I hadn't received a phone call that they were running late, nor had the repairmen showed up. I got voicemail and left a voicemail with our salesman, Michael Richards. At 11:30 AM I received a phone call from the repairmen that they wouldn't be arriving until 3 PM but that they would call before they left so I could know they were on their way. At 2:50 PM they showed up (no call). I told them I needed to get the kids up from nap, left my door open and told them to come in. By the time I got the kids out of the crib (about 3 minutes) the door was still open and the guys had gotten in the van and DRIVEN AWAY! I called the store again and got a human (Nic?) who said both my salesman and the manager were out of the office. I reviewed what had happened. He said he'd call me back. About 4:30 PM he called and said they'd rescheduled me for 8:00 AM on Thursday. End of day I called and left another voicemail on Michael Richard's line and stated my disappointment and anger at the situation. Michael called me back Wednesday morning with apologies and assuring me I would be helped 8:30 AM on Thursday morning. 9:12 AM on Thursday morning the carpet repairman FINALLY SHOWS UP. No phone call he's late. I'm not convinced that Nielsen is concerned with customer service after the sale. It's a small area for them, but a huge part of our home and a major purchase in our budget. I won't purchase flooring from them again. I hope I don't have to have another repair. read more

My husband and I were in the process of getting our new house ready to live in while getting our previous house ready to rent. We have had nightmares with previous contractors not showing up, disappearing half way through the job or doing poor quality work. The professionalism of the estimators and installers made our live much easier as they were on time and completed work when promised. We needed hardwoods finished in our new home and carpet laid in the other. We received bids from several refinishers and carpet layers and settled on Nielsen Bros as their estimators were on time, were thorough in their measuring and were able to accommodate requests to preserve floor molding in our historical home. We were very pleased with the attention to detail and quality of the installation of the carpet in our rental house. The carpet was very reasonably priced and has stood up great so far to the traffic of 4 college students. The quality of the finish work on our hardwood floors was exceptional. We have a wrought iron banister and railing going up our stairs and around the upper landing with supports attached to the floor a few inches apart. Other estimators required us to remove the banister and railing to be able to finish the floor, Nielsen Brothers refinisher was able to sand and finish around the supports without removal. They accommodated our request for a 3 coat Swedish finish that looks beautiful and is still standing up to the traffic of our large dogs. read more

I used Nielsen Brothers to install hardwood floors in my house. The salesman, Michael, was very easy to deal with and knowledgeable. No pressure. He was also a good communicator after the sale. He scheduled the job to meet my needs and everything went smoothly. The flooring was a high quality brand but his quote was reasonable. Michael had a lot of confidence in his crew and he was right. Careful craftsmanship and immaculately clean. I have no regrets which means a lot in a job like this. read more

A co-worker recommended Nielsen Brothers Flooring when I was looking to replace the carpet in my rental condo. They had the carpet I wanted and Michael, the salesman I dealt with, offered me an "aggressive" price on it... which was not AT ALL "aggressive", in fact it was just the opposite and I knew it. However, I was in a hurry to get the carpet and at 8 months pregnant, I didn't have the energy to negotiate. He quickly took my money, set up an installation date and then I never heard from him again. There was no follow up with the install, rather I had to call them MULTIPLE times to confirm date and time-frame. The padding that was used was not what I ordered, which I let Michael know. However, there was no return call, no follow up... just nothing. I always "try" out vendors, contractors, painters, etc... on my smaller rental units first before hiring them for renovations on my houses. Am glad I did, because I will never use Nielsen, or Michael again. Complete lack of customer service and overall horrible deal. Best to go elsewhere, trust me on this one. read more

Went to the Lynnwood store almost 1 1/2 months ago. Floor person would'nt even show me flooring or discuss pricing and I was the only person there. Said I would need to have an installer come out and give me an estimate before they would even discuss flooring. He came out a week later and did a 5 min look. said I would have an estimate the next morning. No response. emailed the next week and asked if they had my number and email address correct. Quality of products purchased: Carpet - awful, falling apart at one year old, not used in high traffic area. Thought we had bought a 'good' product. Vinyl flooring - good. Wood laminate - okay. Quality of service: Thumbs down. Installation was third rate, shoddy job. Damage to wood laminate, vinyl has big bubbles at thresholds, carpet had to be installed twice. Customer service - not good. I am tremendously disappointed in the new Mohawk carpet we had installed May 12, 2011. Mohawk and Nielsen Brothers should be ashamed of yourselves for selling such lousy carpet. Our contractor brought us to Nielsen Brothers and on the advice of Mike (our Nielsen Brothers salesperson) stated that MOHAWK carpet we bought was a HIGH QULAITY, great-with-kids or PETS - a very durable carpet. But since we've had it, we have found that simply is not true! The reality is this: the carpet is very poor quality and snags easily. We now have ANOTHER large snag ( third so far) AND ALSO we have several snags in the carpet by the hardwood edge. I have never ever had any carpet in the two houses that I've owned that was this poor of quality. In fact the old stained Berber was much higher quality and never ever snagged in 8 years! We paid $1,986.33 for this new carpet and Mohawk terrible quality product itr it. Mohawk -you should either stand by your claims -- or rip this carpet out of my home and refund ALL MY MONEY. I feel like I was scammed and cheated - I paid a high price and was told I'd get great Mohawk quality - but instead I got lousy, low quality with awful durability and the run-around on who's going to fix it. Answer: no one. Mohawk guarantee is worthless and so is Nielsen Brothers. read more

We just finished re-carpeting our entire home with Neilsen brothers. Excellent experience all around: the carpets are all high quality (Karastan) at very reasonable prices; the sales folks were very helpful, the carpets were made very quickly - in two weeks (in our prior experience with other companies 6-8 weeks was the norm). The installation crew were AWESOME! The guys worked as long as it took to get the job done - on the first day they were here for 10 hours with only a 20m lunch break. They did the highest quality work and were very positive and helpful - they recommended the best way to line up the pattern for maximum effect, were very careful with seams etc. This is the fourth time we had new carpeting installed in our home - and first time with Neilsen brothers. Their quality and service (and prices!) were absolutely the best in my experience. Highly recommended! read more

I can't be happier with Nielsen's. We've had their products installed 3 times now, carpet twice and hardwoods this last August. I believe we've received excellent value every time. The installers have been very professional. In September we developed a leak in the plumbing in the kitchen. An emergency call to the plumber revealed that the hardwood installer inadvertently punctured a hot water pipe with a staple when he was installing our new baseboard. It took a month for the staple to rust through and start leaking. The repair to the plumbing and wall was nearly $600. Nielsen's was outstanding about covering the expenses. Would we use them again? Absolutely! Would we recommend them? You bet. read more

We just had carpet installed throughout our home purchased at Bellevue's Nielsen Brothers Flooring. We're very pleased with the whole process. First, no one tried to sell us on higher priced carpet, but instead helped us select that which met our needs and within budget. All the staff were friendly and professional. It was actually a fun experience. The measuring and quote was done expertly and on time. We were very comfortable with the estimator. Then the installation guys were so impressive with their expertise, work ethic and their consideration of our home and belongings. They were so polite and respectful. It was a pleasure to have them. They did an outstanding job. Installation was one of our concerns, since some businesses "job out" installation to sub contractors that may or may not be that good. These installers work directly for Nielsen Brothers and have for years. I knew that if we had any problem (which we did not), resolution would have been just a phone call away. The quality of the padding and carpet was just as we expected as was the total price. The cost was just as competitive as any, but additionally, we had excellence from a longstanding local company. With our carpet project, there could have been so many points of failure. There were none and the whole process was actually enjoyable. And our new carpet looks and feels great. The wife and I decided to get new carpeting for the entire house. Given the size and cost of the project I was really worried about choosing the right company. To complicate things, I needed low VOCs due to my wife and sons allergies. I researched for the best carpet and decided on Mohawk (the one made with corn starch based filament with low "off gassing" of VOCs, think it is called Smart Strand). I went to several shops and REALLY compared prices and selection. I went Nielson. They were kind enough to advise me that within two weeks Mohawk was having a sale on the carpeting I wanted. They have a life-time installation warranty and they were just more knowledge than the other stores we considered. The carpeting was installed last July. Given the size of the job (2640 sq. ft) it took two full days. The installation crew were great. Organized, clean and very responsive and friendly. It has been a few months thus far and we are very happy with the carpeting ( by the way, there was virtually ZERO odor!!!). I recommend you check these guys out if you are in the market for carpeting. read more

Nielsen Brothers beat several other bids we received for carpeting our lower floor. They were prompt in arriving at the scheduled time and worked to draw up the best layout so as to save on square footage. The carpet had to be ordered, but came in quickly, and it was installed only a few days later. The installers were highly skilled and when finished I couldn't see a seam anywhere. Every edge and join to tile was absolute perfection. There was a minor mishap that damaged the landing at the bottom of the stairwell. Nielsen was up front in accepting the responsibility and not only replaced the carpeting at the landing, but the whole stairway, pad and all. We can not give a high enough rating to express our delight in their high quality carpet and expert installation. The owner, Mike Nielsen, was easy to work with and helped in our selection of carpet based upon expected use. We love our carpets!! We have received all of our carpet and flooring needs from Nielsen Bros flooring since the early 1970's, with the most recent being yesterday. We have always been pleased with each phase of it from the measuring, picking out the flooring/carpet, and the installation. The two that came yesterday to do the work were outstanding. I would like to rate them negative 5 if I could . First off, we were told we didn't need anyone to come out to our house for an estimate and measuring . That left us with a feeling of uncertainty with this company. At our prompting , a date was finally set to measure , so Nielson's wouldn't have to rely on my husband 's measurements only . Well , the person named Liz didn't show up . The flooring was eventually cut the wrong size , as the installers tried to do there job , they determined it would have to be " cut and pasted " to fit . This review is specific to Nielsen carpet installation. They did a poor job installing carpeting across my living space, leaving gaps between the carpet and the walls. I had them come back twice to fix some of the issues, and I discovered that the original Nielsen installers left trash and pieces of padding under the carpet. They ruined an otherwise very nice and pricy carpets unfortunately. read more

Well, I can't speak to the quality like the previous poster, because I never even got that far! I had planned a day to visit carpet places. I had 4 on my list and saw this shop when I was driving by. I decided to stop since I wanted to make sure I saw everything that was out there. The customer service was OK (except the dude was chomping on gum the whole time he was talking with me). He only showed me ONE carpet, took my name address and phone number and said he'd call me with an estimate. I asked when I should expect to hear from him. He said a day or two. Why in the world would it take that long to get an estimate...on ONE carpet? There was one other customer in the store...and one other employee, he could have taken a few extra minutes but I was on my way out the door just as fast as I walked in. Oh yeah, 5 days later and I still haven't heard back. Glad I saw all of this up front because I can't imagine what future customer service would be like once I had their product in my home. He won't be getting any of my business and I am pretty OK with that... read more
