On Wednesday, November 10, a young man from Seattle Window Cleaners came out to wash my windows and clean the gutters. He was to clean both interior and exterior windows. He was late, he said, because he got lost. Scarcely here two hours, and he left for lunch. He returned about an hour and half later and said that he was delayed because he could not find a bathroom readily, and he got lost. More than an hour after his return from lunch, at 2:45, he was still washing exterior windows and cleaning gutters. He washed the windows with a giant scrub brush attached to a pressure washer. Every now and then, he paused to use the leaf blower in the garden and on the paths. I did not ask for this latter service. In the time he spent here, he confided his present situation to me, which included a 2 a.m. eviction by his girlfriend, two vehicle burglaries resulting in the loss of $14,000 in window washing equipment and personal items, and that he needed a place to live. Given my fatigue with his effort, I bagged the interior window clean. The young man did not complete the job. He washed the windows but he is not a window washer, a term which creates an expectation of skilled labor and a disciplined approach to work. I reported my dissatisfaction with the young man's effort to Martin Skarra, who owns the business and sent me the bill. I did not receive a response. The following week I received a postcard from Seattle Window Cleaners, thanking me for working with a small business. The return address on the postcard is Seattle Windows Cleaners LLC, P.O. I just used Martin and Seattle Window Cleaners to clean the windows on my home. First of all the communication was unbelievable. They sent reminders and showed up when they said they were going to. I had a few questions pre-clean and got a response same day each time. In terms of the cleaning it was thorough, detailed and spotless. Our windows had not been cleaned in a few years and they honestly look brand new! His prices are competitive with other cleaners I've used (a bit cheaper) but the quality was far and away superior. Great service and excellent communications from the office manager. They did roof cleaning/moss treatment, gutter cleaning and exterior window cleaning. Great business to work with. Business office is on top of contacting, scheduling, providing estimates. Scheduled roof and skylights to be cleaned by blower. We had lots of pine needles accumulated, The service attendant, Ian, did a fantastic job, was on time and cleaned up blowing the debris on the ground with extra effort. I used them for my big floor to ceiling windows on my 4 story townhouse. They were prompt and easy to schedule & communicate with. There were a few misses on the windows which is why I knocked one star but I let them know and they're coming back out next week to fix them. Overall good customer service and easy to schedule. This is the second time I've hired West Seattle Window Cleaner to clean exterior windows (first and second story) and deck railing glass. Both times the cleaner was very prompt and friendly, worked efficiently and was very thorough. This time some windows probably were dirtier since we had just completed some dusty landscaping. When he was finished the windows sparkled, they were so clean, almost as if there was no glass there at all. I could never have accomplished that myself. He also wiped down all the screens before putting them back up. I highly recommend their window cleaning service. read more

The two-person crew for West Seattle Window Cleaner just left my home after performing a roof moss removal and gutter cleaning. I have to say that I am extremely disappointed at the quality and duration of the work. I got a bid for the work on 7/19, and was told that it would be two people working on my roof and that it would take approximately 2.5 hours to perform the work of cleaning my entire roof and then cleaning the gutters. Only one of the two people actually got onto the roof, and if I had not complained, he would have only brushed maybe 1/5 of the entire roof where most moss was (behind the fireplace). That, plus the "gutter cleaning" (which consisted of blowing out the debris from the gutters with a leaf blower) and applying the chemical to the top areas of the roof took all of 20 minutes, and that includes a few minutes they sat in the van after they arrived and then carrying the ladder to the home. He only brushed the rest of the roof after I had mentioned that the quote was for TWO people working 2.5 hours on my roof. His idea of cleaning up meant also just leaf blowing the debris into other areas of the landscaping to distribute it, not collecting it so it could be thrown away (which I knew in advance they wouldn't take it off site, but I was prepared to dispose of the refuse. Total, it took only 40 minutes for the entire job, including "cleanup". My yard and the top of my vehicle had bits of roof moss everywhere. The other person sat inside the van the entire time, except for collecting the money at the end. I feel like I was scammed by this "two person crew". Not only that, but one continued to brag about the quality and efficiency of his work. I saw him working, and I beg to differ. My guess is that these two take turns doing the actual work (with one sitting in the van and playing with his phone) and short each customer on the quality. Perhaps the management doesn't know how their workers are doing, but what I suspect is that they do not care. I had considered getting a bid for window washing, but now I wouldn't consider it. read more
