I've happily had Simple Joy out three times over the past seven or so years to remove moss from our cottage roof, and they've always done a great job. The person handling the appointments is prompt in responding, and the various moss-removal people who have come out are always on time within the parameters set (a half hour on either side of the appointment time). read more

Contacted Simple Joys to obviously clean our windows. He did a good job. However.......be aware that: 1) He will remove screens from the windows but will not put them back on. 2) He will wash the outside of your storm windows but will not take storm windows off and wash the inside glass or the inside of the storm window. 3) Our daughter paid him in full ($370) upon completion of the job. 30 days later we begin getting invoices in the mail with little notes attached that he would like to get paid. Call him on the phone and explain he got paid, who paid him, when and when he cashed the check. Still getting invoices claiming the bill is unpaid. Left him a voice message today advising him to file a lawsuit in small claims court if he thinks he did not get paid. My take - he is a prima donna. read more

We really needed to find a service provider for overflow issues in part of a gutter system. I spent a lot of time on the phone to many places trying to find someone that could fit the estimate/service in as quickly as possible and was not having much luck at all. I reached out to Simple Joys, and at first they let me know that they were scheduled out (as was the case with all so far), but I got a surprise call back shortly after letting me know that they had an unexpected opening for the same day. I was so relieved. They were able to come out, fix the overflow issue, and save the day. Simple Joys showed up on time and did a scrape-and-zinc treatment and gutter blow on my house and cottage roofs. The employee was professional and had useful suggestions for future avoidance of trouble with one gutter and a part of my roof where tree branches might start rubbing into the roof tiles. It will take a couple of weeks for the zinc treatment to work on the cottage moss because of the type of moss it is, but I'm confident that all will go normally. read more

I filled out the quote request for gutter cleaning on the Simple Joys website and received a call back the next day. After a brief discussion, I added roof cleaning/moss treatment as well. Jeremy came out a few days later and very quickly got the roof cleaned up, the gutters emptied out and moss treatment down. He even cleaned up a few extra areas. Simple Joys was supposed to come by my house between 11:30am and 1:30 pm to clean my gutters and windows. They never showed. When we called the office to find out where they were, they said they would find out and give us a call. After another 30 minutes go by, we hear absolutely nothing. So I called again and they still don't know what's going on. Finally, we hear back only to find out that they never even put us on the calendar, and to call the office if we want to reschedule. Very nice staff, the lady on the phone was pretty funny. I had 2 chimney's cleaned and they did a great job, for a reasonable rate. Clean up was not as good as I had hoped though; there were black blotches on the carpet and we'll have to do some carpet cleaning now...but overall I would probably hire them again and just cover the area before they came. They also came a day early than scheduled, probably by mistake, so I didn't have time to prepare by covering the carpet. read more

First the good news - Rick did a good job of cleaning the gutters on our medium sized home in Seattle. Not so good was the moss cleaning off the roof. When my wife booked the cleaning of the roof she was told by Krista that "the moss will be brushed off the roof". When Rick arrived to start the work, I asked if he needed to use my power washer on the roof cleaning and he said "no I use a brush to get the moss off". There was still lots of moss left on the roof after the job was supposed to be completed. There was a sporadic sprinkling of the zinc powder on the roof but there were places where the zinc could not reach moss growth even when spread down by the rain - for example immediately next to the dormers on the house. After I raised my concerns about the incomplete roof work, Rick returned and did a little more brushing, but still did not do a reasonably complete job in my view. Things I could have done better as the consumer: 1. Do a more comprehensive search on Yelp for all reviews for this contractor - there are 2 sets of reviews on Yelp for this contractor based on 2 different street addresses - the link from their web site to the one set of Yelp reviews shows all positive reviews, while the other set of reviews are not all positive. 2. Read the Contractor web site carefully - especially this sentence: "The scraping is only to pop off moss 1/2 inch or greater in height..." This essentially means that you can be left with lots of moss on your roof as they are relying on the zinc powder to eventually kill the moss. (I suppose this will eventually work if the zinc is correctly applied to reach ALL moss areas.) So even though you are told that the moss will be brushed off, this in reality does not happen to much of an extent. 3. Ask the contractor more questions and discuss expectations - I would have realized that their approach would not result in a mostly moss free roof on completion of the work and that the cost was very expensive for the actual amount of work involved. (mostly sprinkling zinc powder on the roof.) Bottom line - if you expect a moss free roof immediately after this contractor has completed work, this does not happen. If you think that sprinkling zinc powder on the roof will work for you, then you might be OK. I will be finding another contractor to finish the job. read more

Simple Joys arrived promptly about 3 days after we contacted the company - and on time. Our home was built in 1895 and has original wavy glass windows as well as lead glass. He was careful, thorough and done in 3 hours, 2 and a half stories. He cleaned inside and out all floors. The price was fair. read more

I had Simple Joys come out for a gutter cleaning and treatment for moss. THe technician came within the 2 hour window and promptly got to work. He was professional and efficient and explained exactly what was going to happen. My gutters were air blown clean and he did a great job with that. The roof treatment was to scrape off what he could and let the ZINC treatment do the rest. It looks like he applied a generous amount of the treatment so hopefully in a few weeks the moss will be gone. I was charged 245 for both jobs, a very reasonable amount based on pricing with other companies that do the same jobs. Pending success of ZINC treatment, I will change rating to 5. read more

I have been using this company for about 4 or 5 years now. I honestly can't live without them! They just came and cleaned my roof & gutters and treated the roof for moss. The moss treatment lasts about 4 years on my house. They will be back again to clean my windows in a couple of months (after the Seattle rain slows down a bit). They are always on time, clean, friendly, and professional. When they clean the windows, I have them do inside & out and they do all of the screens - it's great with a great price. My windows are up high and difficult to get to, but they have the equipment to get to them without a problem. I have recommended them to many people, and everyone agrees that they have great service and prices. If I can give a negative star here, I will . They mislead you when they quote you on the phone ! They just simply scrap the roof very quick and dump the zinc powder on the roof, then tell you to wait the rain to kill them. That they meant the treatment. You could do it yourself by buying those zinc powders in Home Depot. the moss on the roof looked no different after they've done the work. No one called me back after I expressed to talk to their manager. I have never received the bill after 3 months, the owner threaded to send me to collection agent. When I went to court to fight for the case, there was another customer had the same compliant at the same day. Now you can imagine how much complains this company have. Two per day ! We used Simple Joys once a year for 3 years. They were great. On time and got the job done well (we did gutter cleaning and moss removal). This last year, they changed to a new billing system and would only send a bill via email. I never got the bill. I called back 9 different times and talked to Jeremy (the owner) or the receptionist in the 5 months since the service and they never would send me out a physical bill. They kept saying they sent me a bill via email; but I never did get an email from them. They finally threatened to send it to a collection agency. I had Simple Joys out to clean my roof on July 8, 2011. They scraped off the larger moss pieces and treated it with zinc powder. I told them that the little bit of zinc they put on will not clear all the moss off. They said it would and that if it was not clear in a month or so to call them and they'd come back out. It is now August 23rd and the moss is still heavily residing on my roof. When I called I received a response stating they do not guarantee their work and that my moss will come off eventually. Now I'll have to hire someone else to kill the moss on my roof. I hired them due to the reviews here on Yelp. I can only guess that these reviews are "fixed" by the company. We had roof, gutter and window cleaned. Either they missed some windows or that's their typical way to do their job. The windows are foggy, either not wiped off or completely missed some. There are still visible moss on the roof as well. read more
