I've gone kayaking in the Hudson as well, and there are pros and cons to both. First you've got the location and backdrop for those cute pictures (if you want cute pics, just go to both). This place has dirty floors as you approach the water (on 72nd st, the floor is clean and the water is a mini jump below you). I almost fell while getting out of the kayak-the ground is slippery and filled with rocks. Other than that, both places have small boundaries, and a 20 min ride to go (honors system). It's a great way to enjoy your summer weekends!

Frantic and ready to cancel, my now husband had suggested a boat. I googled party boats in Brooklyn, and the Atlantis came up, and to be very honest, I was skeptical, I called anyway. I spoke to a lovely woman, her name was Kelly and explained the situation, and she was very sympathetic to what was happening. She set me up with an appointment with Amanda to have a tour of the boat. My husband and I got to the boat and met with Amanda and knew immediately we were in good hands. This woman is amazing. Leading up to the event date, there were so many changes due to hot zones and what have you, and several times I was ready to give up, and it was her who told me, you deserve to be a bride and have the wedding of your dreams, and she and her awesome team delivered at every single turn. From Jamie in billing, which was so sweet, Captain Fred and his beautiful wife who oversaw every detail and cruised us around the city (some of my guests did not even know we left the dock until they were invited to the top deck to see the cake cutting by the Statue of Liberty). All the servers that none of my guests waited for a drink, the food was out promptly nobody was waiting, they were awesome, and the food was delicious (get the lamb chop ordures). Everybody on the Yacht was amazing. Amanda, we want to thank you for everything you did for us. We could not have pulled off the best wedding of all time, all the little details, the communication between vendors. It was like working with a best friend easy peasy. From the very bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. Things happen for a reason. My husband and I are so happy the other place canceled on us; it would have been a nice event but nothing close to what an AMAZING EXPERIENCE all our guests and we had.

It was a perfect day for sailing (nice breeze, sunny but not hot, clear skies, and not choppy water). This is definitely an activity that I will come back for. Eric is incredibly knowledgeable about NYC's history and shares it all. His boat is gorgeously kept and is incredibly comfortable and modern with a traditional feel. More importantly you can tell he enjoys what he does, which makes it amazing for those sailing with him. It's also a very relaxing experience. We went out on the 4 hr tour and it went by so incredibly fast! If you have the time I definitely recommend doing the 4 hr as it's the perfect amount of time to enjoy the experience. However, if you don't have the time I very much encourage taking the shorter tour so you can experience a great time. A must-do in NYC!

The women's showers are updated and kept clean. They have a pool and a bar. We had our own dinghy for motoring to an fro ship to land, but a water taxi service was available if we needed. Maybe it's just because we are from Baltimore, a city known for gun violence and heroin, but everyone here is incredibly kind. We ran into a fuel emergency and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were okay. If we ever sail up this way again, we will be staying at this marina.

I was VERY nervous to come on board and LEARN with a 3 hour private lesson with a few friends, considering we had ZERO experience between us. Our instructor, Amber, was so cool. She was as eager to get to know us as we were eager to get to know her, and while she let everyone get their hands on the boat's functions, she never pushed expectations or made us feel small for being novices. She would have stayed out with us longer if she could, and we would have too! Also important to note, the team was SO HELPFUL with rescheduling. When our sail date threatened heavy wind & rain all morning, they graciously changed our lesson date, giving us the best experience possible. Couldn't ask for a better, more receptive or more inviting team to work with and learn from.
