UPDATE: Today, May 9, I got a check in the mail from Sebring Animal Hospital in the amount of $65. Although I never got the 10% discount for bringing in two pets on one day, at least they honored their commitment to me of refunding the $65. So I upgraded their rating from one star to two. I've taken my pets to this place for 4 years, 4 cats and 2 dogs. For the first time, I needed to bring two pets in and they told me I'd get a discount if I brought them both in together. I did that, Phoebe the cat (for a cortisone shot) and Maggie the dog (for a limp). I paid a partial bill of $133.05, which included one office visit but no discount. They were very busy, so I just paid the bill knowing I'd be back the next day for the X-rays that Maggie needed, and I'd straighten it out then. So I brought Maggie back the next morning and picked her up that afternoon (after waiting an hour in the waiting room). They charged me $331.93 for Maggie's X-rays and meds, which included another $65 for ANOTHER office visit, even though it was an extension of the visit the day before...and still no discount. So now the total bill for Phoebe, and Maggie was $464.98. When I called the next business day to inquire about it, I was told I would get some money back but they didn't say how much. Told me they'd have a lady called Laura (?) call me back. I didn't get a call back so after 4 days I called again only to be told I would be eligible for $20. I questioned that, based on what I was told before I brought my pets in. I spoke to someone in the office named Missy (sp?) for a good half hour, and it became a very upsetting argument with her telling me I owed for two office visits, but they would take $20 off the whole $464.98 bill! Of course I was confused and felt ripped off. Then they dropped the bomb on me, advising me that no matter how many pets you bring in, they charge you $65 per pet on an office visit. It would have been nice if they had told me that, in that I could have saved the hassle of bringing two scared animals in on the same day only to receive a 10% discount. I would have brought them in separately had I known that. They finally agreed to refund one office visit ($65) but no "two-animal discount." Today (May 5) I got a letter from them saying they have changed their minds and are not refunding the charge for the extra office visit because "the sedation fee for Maggie was missed on the second visit. Normally the sedation fee for Maggie would be $65." (Wow, what a coincidence, and it wasn't my fault that they charged me incorrectly). So they said I now have a credit on my account for $20. This, after Missy told me their policy is not to give credits! I was told quite clearly by Missy that they would refund me the $65 by way of a check. I was also told this by Allen on the phone that same day after Missy couldn't resolve the problem without arguing. So the upshot is this. Sebring Animal Hospital has lost a good customer who pays in full each time I go without question. I'm leaving them because of the way the office staff handled me on the phone. I sure didn't appreciate being talked to like a child. And please remember, if you bring more than one pet in one day, expect the full office visit charge for each one and a 10% discount...maybe). I hope the administrative personnel are counseled on how to treat upset customers. Talking over me and repeatedly telling me I did not understand the bills I was holding in my hand is a bad way to do business. I have found another vet, recommended highly by two friends and a neighbor, and will be taking my business to him from here on out. Caveat Emptor read more

We have had to get our dog and cat both in on an urgent basis. For our cat, after being told there were no appointments available I pressed a little. The receptionist said I could bring the cat in and he would be worked in. We did wait a bit - 90 minutes or so I seem to remember but was able to see Dr. Larry. Our dog developed an abscess tooth and again we were able to get worked in. I was very appreciative and let the staff know my appreciation. The place is busy for a reason. I think we have seen every vet there and find them all to be compassionate and professional. read more

I never do reviews, but the service was so good and I am so thankful for the compassion my elderly little dog was shown, so leaving a review is the least I could do. We found out my dog had tumors and they didn't have any openings for at least two months. I told them I was planning on leaving town soon for an extended period but would stick around for her surgery. The staff told me they would see what they could do in getting me in sooner. When they came back, I expected the soonest they could get me in would no be for at least another two weeks or so, and to my surprise, they had an appointment for her ready in two days! They were informative, diligent, and Larry took the time to explain to us what the next steps were. The staff was very friendly and personable. We have taken our other dogs there before and the service is always amazing. I highly recommend them for your pet's needs, they will be the peace of mind you deserve! read more

Brought my pug here, thought that it was going to be a 75.00 visit..... They DID take her stitch that was left in her eye from a previous surgery that she had a year ago form a different ver, BUT he didn't even assess her front her legs, I told him that she limps from time to time when she jumps off of the couch, but he didn't even feel them!!He said that she needs to lose weight! ( I get that, duh) Got home and really started to think about why I was charged 107.00 Dollars,,, hmmmmm I did receive some ear drops and she did get her anal glands expressed, but I don't feel that the whole visit shouldv'e been 107.00 do you?!?!? I have never paid that much for just an office visit and not had her body checked by the vet... I don't know, I am going to try them again in May when she gets her annual shots, then I will write an update. read more

I am so upset!! Sebring Vetrinary is the only place I have been too since moving here in 2003. It has always been a 5 star place until recently. My Cat has an eye injury I called and was told they couldn't get her in for 3 weeks. So Her eye is even worse and I called and asked if I could bring her over I said I think she will go blind I explained that there was blood inside her eye and it was foggy still I was told they couldn't see her till Friday. I board my dog at Sebring Animal Hospital for 7 days. From November 10 to November 17, 2012. I called every other day to check on her, everybody was really helpful on the phone and I was told she was doing great. I was very disappointed when I went to pick up my dog (an American Bulldog). I found out she had big sores on both of her knees, which nobody told me about until I point them out and ask questions. Then vet came out and check her out and I was told she didn't wanted to sleep on the blanket they gave her and sleep on the floor. The sores looked more like she was confine to a small space for a long period of time. Their own mission statement reads by providing quality health service through a responsive professional staff with an emphasis on individual attention...This was anything but a responsive and professional staff..These folks may be good people , but when you turn sick animals away it leaves a bad impression for any one who needs help with a sick animal.. Sebring Animal Hospital is the place to take your pet. Dr Larry Jernigan is skilled, sensible, compassionate and a great diagnostician. I can not state enough positive things about him as a veterinarian and a human being He has always been there for my animals, he takes the time to explain what is going on. Dr. Jernigan ( dr. Larry) is a hero in my opinion. I have been taking a multitude of animals there for over 12 years. I take the care of animals seriously; not just my own, but ALL animals...I wanted a vet that isn't just there for the people with the pampered pooches; but a community minded individual who also generously and quietly helps the distressed and unwanted animals here by working with the county animal control, spaying, neutering and treating the animals who do not have owners with open wallets, only a nominal county fee. That is a gift to the animals and this county who have already been betrayed once and have very little hope. I have been taking my pets to Sebring Animal Hospital for about thirty years. They have always been kind and compassionate. Once, many years ago, one of my cats had his tail slammed in the door. Dr. Bill met me at the hospital on a Sunday afternoon. He was cautious and prudent when the possibility of amputation came up. After two days of observation, Dr. Bill was able to save Sam's tail. The staff here are very friendly and seem to genuinely care about my animals. Whenever we have an issue with a pet--if one gets sick suddenly or hurts herself--they will always work us into the schedule even if they are booked solid. I have taken multiple pets to Dr.Jernigan and crew for many years and he has visited me.He won my heart by saving a cat that is now 21 through change in diet 6 years ago to help weakening bowel system.(others said put to sleep??)We do not get it right with pets all the time but we try to do the best- remember he does not live with them ,we do .I find him to be straightforward no nonsense and educational and the staff under much duress during the day- outstanding in every way.
