As a seller, I've found that this isn't the best option for consigning high-end pieces. The return after markdowns is minimal, and in my experience, the care and value placed on items left a lot to be desired. I had traveled from out of town to pick up some unsold items on the last day of my contract. One dress in particular had a security sensor attached -- which signaled to me that they understood its value -- but when they removed the sensor, it sprayed ink all over the white fabric. Despite the damage, they offered me just $22 for the dress, which I later sold on Poshmark for $100 the same day I picked it up. When I voiced my concerns, I was encouraged to speak with someone at the front desk, but the response was dismissive -- simply stating it would be treated as a markdown sale. There was no accountability, and it was clear there would be no resolution. I didn't bother to fight the way they seemed happy to conduct business, as this was my first experience. It was a disappointing experience that showed a lack of care for consigned items at Second Chance. I've learned my lesson and will not be returning. I'd recommend sellers explore other platforms or shops that treat high-value pieces with more respect and offer fairer returns. read more

Great place to buy nice used clothing . Tho they got alittle pricey . You always can take clothing in and have them sale it on consignment . I have taken things in that sold and made a little money and usually turn around and bought something else . They have a large selection of clothes and a pretty large space . I feel I can give an educated review since I'm a consignment store junkie. I try and hit one everytime I travel. I think Second Chance is awesome. I love that their inventory runs the gamut from luxury brands to juniors and that these areas are separated. The clothes are in good to amazing condition and most notably, the prices are fair. As some reviewers have noted, the owner may not be Ms. Warm and fuzzy but allow us our quirks, people! I think everyone is nice and I don't need to be greeted the door for heavens sakes. Let me begin by saying HOLY CRAP! I had not been to Second Chance for years. If memory serves me correctly, it used to be located across the street in a MUCH smaller storefront. It was cramped and rather dank smelling. However, I had remained on their mailing list years after moving to the other side of town and having not returned. So when their President's Day sale came around, I was off work, and I needed a few items, I decided to drive over and check them. First, I couldn't find them since they moved. Next, their parking lot was jammed which should have been a sign. Finally, their size and all the people inside were overwhelming. I need to level set my expectations here. I'm the type of person who absolutely HATES department stores. In them, if you're looking for a red sweater, for example, you have to look in 12 different departments as they are organized by brand/label. I prefer to have all red sweaters put together on one rack - preferably organized by size. Lucky for me, other thrift stores (i.e. Goodwill, TJ Maxx, Marshalls) uses this system. Second Chance, however, does not. I perused the entire store, looking for brown boots, ankle height and also a black winter coat. I found neither. I didn't do a lot of looking at prices, but the ones I did see seemed to be in line with other second hand stores. After I left, I went over to Clothes Mentor. It was much smaller, less crowded and more my speed. Unfortunately, I found nothing there either. read more

One of my favorite Columbus consignment stores. The clothes they sell have been carefully curated and are of good quality, and at the same time they have many to choose from. The store is organized well with good signage, and they have a variety of sizes to choose from. I found several great things here - I have had the most success when looking for dresses and tops. They also have plenty of dressing rooms, so you rarely have to wait. I recommend signing up for their rewards program as well, which is now electronic and easier to manage. You can park in the street, but they also have a good amount of spaces on the side of the building. read more

I primarily shop teen and this section featured Urban Outfitters, Zara, Free People, and Anthropologie as brands. Prices are higher than a thrift store as expected but not outrageous. read more

The saying "shop till you drop" fits perfectly for this place. The location, prices & selections are way above average. Oh, and none of that weird funky odor you find at most of these types of stores. Second Chance offers great retail therapy and alternative shopping for the ladies and girls. Over the past few years it has grown to include 3 store fronts. So, don't be confused by the 3 entrances. Each is connected to the other and are separated in themes only: Juniors, Women and high end Designer. There is so much to go through you can easily spend a couple of hours here. They have some comfy chairs and sofas throughout if you want to take a break. Also, I'm glad there are two free parking areas on each side allocated for customers. Once inside you will find brand names such as Eddie Bauer, Chicos, J Crew, Armani, St. John, Ivanka Trump, just to name a few. They have all kinds of accessories, outerwear, athletic wear, dresses, whatever you may be thinking you want. Some items are even brand new, with the original tags included. There are really some great finds for all occasions. One of my favorite finds were a pair of spats that had never been worn! Just so you know, it seems, they have phased out the "vintage" clothing. On the other hand, the Plus size section appears to have expanded. So, you can bring in your items for consignment. I have found they can be pretty selective on what they will accept, which is sometimes a pain in the butt. You will have a better chance with brand names and rarely worn items. Just saying. (If they don't take your things, there is a Goodwill a block down where you can donate instead.) I do like the store offers a punch card that when filled can be used for 20% off your next purchase. If after all that shopping, you have worked up an appetite, or just plain thirsty, it's great Jimmy V's and the Twisted Vine are just across the street. read more

The merchandise is well displayed and marked. There are 2 separate locations for the dressing rooms and 2 separate places to make your purchases. They also take your merchandise to sell. If I could give zero stars I would. I am big on customer service and this store is lacking in customer service. I wasn't greeted upon walking in, and when I asked the young lady if she worked there she seemed bothered and uninterested. This makes the experience dissatisfying. I tried giving the benefit of the doubt by browsing the store but not one associate acknowledged my presence, asked if I needed assistance, etc. I'm not sure if that's just a practice them not speaking, but it's extremely rude and unwelcoming. Hate to say this... but I almost felt they probably needed a "Whites Only" sign on the door ‍.... that's the energy I was feeling. Just being honest. This is one of the best consignment stores I've ever been to or worked with. They have a lot of great inventory, they're professional and very friendly. I moved out of the state and I still send clothes there! They have a wide variety of casual, business and formal attire, across all fashion and price points. Impressed with the designer section here! These are actual designers: Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Miu Miu, Diane VonFurstenburg, Prada etc. This was my first visit, and again, so sad to discover another cool CBus haunt RIGHT before I leave. Womp womp womp... In my mad rush to get rid of everything before packing up my car, I had the brillz idea to consign my massive Kate Spade collection. I Yelped and chose this place and it could not have been easier. I hauled my collection out there this morning. Everyone was super friendly & genuinely smiled! I handed over my bags and browsed while waiting for their review. There's a separate room with the designer duds. Let me tell you, if I wasn't moving I'd snap up so much stuff. They had super cute summer dresses, sunglasses and suits. I almost snapped up a pair of Gucci pumps for $50, but exercised an incredible amount of self-restraint. To my surprise they took all the bags (*oprah voice* you get a Kate Spade, and you get a Kate Spade). The contract is pretty fair: they'll give you 50% if sold within 30 days. Selling price is reduced 15% after that, and 20% if not sold after 6 weeks. They add funds to a consignor acct and you can choose to have a check mailed to you. If items are unsold you can pick it up. I will most certainly be consigning stuff here on out! In fact, new life rule: if I buy a new purse, I must sell one already owned. Getting rid of stuff feels so good! *Updating to add that they sent me an email with a full list of my items, and prices. Don't waste your time or money in this store. You are much better going to One More Time down the road. I took a bag of name brand clothes there, and the women told me it would be about 10 minutes until she could go through them. I kept waiting and waiting, then the store was about to close so I asked if she went through them yet and, she just says "we didn't find anything." It would have been nice if she told me when she was done so I didn't waste my time waiting for her. I even brought in a black leather coach purse in good condition, and she didn't even take that. Mind you, there are purses in the store that look like junk. This is my 3rd try with them, I will not be going back to shop or to sell my things. No Rag-O-Rama to be sure, A Second Chance is a different kind of treasure. In part, it's like sneaking into your wealthy grandmother's attic, lifting the tops of heavy chests and hat boxes, and playing dress-up for an afternoon. But the real draw for me (when I'm not just in the mood to try on silly oversized coats and polyester, graphic-printed frocks in the large vintage section) is that the privileged ladies (and their daughters) of Upper Arlington and Grandview have the habit of dumping their once- (or never-) worn name-brand and designer items here. This can include anything from very classic styles (think Banana Republic cashmere, pants and dresses) to the cutting edge and unusual, or even one-of-a-kind numbers. Last spring I drove by and the dress in the window literally made my head snap to the side (serious whiplash was involved; I should've sued myself. Hmmm....). Turns out it was a wedding dress created by a French designer, custom-tailored for this girl who wanted it as her RECEPTION dress (people wear more than one dress on their wedding day??). She ended up not even wearing it, and there it was: a stunning work of draped, matte peach silk, strewn with leaf, vine and flower appliques, IN MY SIZE, worth throusands, but priced at a mere $200. But, (sigh) with no wedding in site at the time, I felt it might be a little "Muriel's Wedding" to make such a purchase. Just an example, though, of the wonders to be found here. My current wardrobe is a mash-up of trendier, new pieces and clothing and accessories I've found here, and I get comments all the time on items I've found at Second Chance for under $20. The store recently expanded also, so where I once might've complained that it's difficult to search the overstuffed racks, it's now not only easier, but there's an even greater selection. As with any second-hand store, there's some fishing to be done. You will have to wade through some Chico's and older styles to find gold. But they do a very nice job of splitting up the store into refined sections, so you at least know what to skip and what to scour. Also of note: make sure you pick up a Frequent Buyer's Card. You'll earn a stamp with every $20 you spend. A full card (10 stamps) gets you $20 off your next purchase. (Which typically adds up to a free item or two). read more

Love love love! I both consign and buy here. There are woman's (think Ann Taylor, Banana), junior's, (Anthro, Free People), vintage (highly curated) and luxury brand (Saks) sections. Something for everyone, truly. The vintage section is small, but curated so well that I typically find a few things every trip. Designer handbags aplenty. Evening gowns, suits, outerwear, casual wear, shoes, accessories -- they've got it covered. They have a frequent buyer program (punch card) -- for every $20 you spend you receive one punch. After so many punches you get a percentage off your purchase. The owner is superfreakingnice as are the employees. I've consigned all over town and tend to make the most here. They seek high quality garments and accessories that are fashion-forward and in good condition. Highly recommend. read more

I went in with my mom on a lazy afternoon just looking to kill some time and I walked out with a beautiful vintage leather Dooney & Bourke purse and a really nice Ralph Lauren vest for under $25. I explained what I was looking for to the owner and she spent several minutes pointing me in the right direction and explaining where to find what I was looking for. Second Chance has a great selection of clothes, shoes, and accessories! I appreciate that it is extremely easy to navigate through the big store. They separate high-end designer items from the other stuff so if you don't want anything too fancy and "pricey", you can go to the other side. They also try to separate by brand names like J.Crew, Banana Republic for those that like those brand names. Other than that, it's organized by type of clothes (skirts, shorts, sundresses, etc.) Also, they have ALL sizes. They do have good finds. I spent a while just admiring this blue Coach satchel for $40. I brought in a huge box of things for consignment for the first time, and the staff was extremely nice about it. They didn't seem phased or annoyed that they had to look through all that stuff. While they went through the items, they told me to look around. I like that a lot, just because I get a little sensitive about them judging my items. Some places require you to stand there and wait. After all that, they took probably 50% of my stuff for consignment, which is great! Like they said on their site, they will give you 50% of what they sell it for if it is sold within 60 days. I did some research with other consignment stores in the area, and this is one of the best deals. One piece of advice I'd give to you if you plan to be a consigner is to pay attention to the dates that they will accept seasonal items. I had some amazing boots that they didn't take off my hands and I will probably have to come back in August or October to see if they will take them. The only place that I know that is more lenient on taking non-seasonal items is Plato's closet and they buy outright (which may or may not be a better choice depending on the item). read more

AMAZING! I was recently visiting my grandparents in Columbus, I visit them 2-3 times a year and am always on the lookout for cool stores while I'm there. I decide to go online and check if they had any consignment stores and found lots of positive reviews for Second Chance. I went with my mom and we both had an amazing experience. The staff was very friendly and the clothing selection was great. The store was surprisingly large and there was a large variety of clothing ranging in prices and designers. My mother found a few nice pieces for her to wear everyday but I hadnt found anything yet. Then a section that looked sort of prom-ish caught my eye so i decided to take a look. I found this absolutely stunning navy blue Jovani dress in my size for only 100 bucks. I continued looking around the store and then fell in love again when I got to the high end designer section of the store. YSL pumps for around 300 bucks???? Hermes scarves for 350??? Amazing prices for really great designer stuff. There was an amazing Roberto Cavalli maxi dress in the window so I asked the sales girl how much it was. Sadly it was way out of my budget but she gave me a card and told me to call if i was still interested later on when it might possibly be marked down. When i told her i was only visiting she told me that they could ship things out. Super friendly and nice. My mother bought a few things and I put my dress on hold so i could have some time to make a decision. Their business card also acts as a punch card so when you make a purchase, depending on how much you spend you get a certain amount of holes punched and when its filled you get 20 percent off your next purchase. I came back the next day, bought the dress and walked away with a smile on my face. This definitely my new favourite store in Columbus and I will be stopping by every time I visit :) The only negatives would have to be they dont have the best hours and they dont sell mens stuff but other than that its an A+ store read more

Good selection. However, a major concern each time I go there, is non-working zippers, large amounts of lint, and funny smells on items they aren't discounting adequately. I wish they would please "sniff" each item that they accept into consignment, bc if I have to get things drycleaned, and/or zippers replaced, etc., it's just another chore. Also, no matter how nice a sweater may be, Loft, Madewell, whatever - if you have to have it drycleaned, it's really not much of a discount at all, these items are trendy. Rather off-putting that they would accept items such as these IMO. There is another consignment store I shop at where I never see these types of items. I go there more frequently. read more

High end consignment shop. This is one of my favorite places to look for shoes and boots. They have a designer room which has vintage as well as current designer pieces. Helpful friendly staff and if you sign up for emails they will notify you of sales and discounts. Typically plenty of parking on either side of the building. Like the more prominent Grandview used clothing shop, One More Time, Second Chance is a bit deceptive from the street. Relatively fashionable clothes can be seen on mannequins in the store front. However, a cursory glance at the inside of the shop betrays that the shop isn't quite so current. Most of the stock consists of name brands (a lot of Banana Republic), but the items are from several seasons ago. Prices are OK. Mostly, I was disappointed they didn't carry any men's clothing. I will say that the store manages to have a pretty good concentration of decent stuff. They do some of the work for you, and there isn't nearly as much junk as at a normal second-hand store. This is quite honestly one of the only stores I like to shop in. Who cares if the clothing is gently used! ALL, and I do mean ALL of the selections here go well above the supposed "fashions" you will find at any "new" retailer (such as Macy's or wherever!). The Owner, Mary, is very selective about what she accepts to sell here, and she has absolutely EXQUISITE taste in her selections! I can only say that if you shop here, you will ALWAYS look your very best! Her store also has a very elegant charm, and her staff is VERY kind, gentle and warm. I normally will never shop consignment stores. I don't want someone else's old, dirty, used clothes....but this place is totally different! First of all, it's mostly high end designer stuff. Everything from Yves Saint Laurent, to Michael Kors, and Hermes. A lot of things still have the new tags on them and everything is clean, pressed and looks brand new. Basically, you can get a $350 designer jacket for $50. That. Is. Awesome. The store has now expanded to 3 rooms and the staff is very friendly and helpful. If you don't live in Columbus but happen to be visiting the city - it's worth a trip! read more

Second Chance is my favorite consignment shop! They have great condition brand name clothes. Where else can you get new William Rast skinny jeans for $85?? Certainly not Nordstrom. How elated was i to find such a great buy here. Of course, the selection will vary all the time, but not only did i find jeans, but also lots of other great items. They have wears for older gals thru teens carrying things from Forever 21 to Talbotts. They also have a selection of shoes (that actually looked wearable) and high end purses, plus vintage goods. Of course all sales are FINAL so, be sure to try everything on first. Their consignment idea is a good one. You bring in your stuff. If they choose it to be sold they give you a two month contract. If it sells with-in the two months you get 35% (i think) of the price as trade or cash. If it doesn't sell, you get your stuff back or they'll donate it for you. Simple as that. Kind of cool. Anyway, the staff is nice and helpful. I notice they have a lot of regular shoppers there, which can be good or bad for the shop seeing as they may have a lot of simiar clothes coming in all the time and similar stuff being bought all the time, but I didn't have a problem finding some great stuff there. I didn't want to like this place initially -- maybe cause it's a little too popular and put together for a consignment store (stoopid reason but it makes me suspicious), or maybe because upon first glance it seems like some of the stuff is priced a bit high to my liking for used items. But they do have some nice stuff and a good incentive program, and while most items cost over $20, I got a nice sweater the other day for $6. You just gotta take the time to look and sift through everything, and they have a great selection. read more

I was visiting Columbus and decided to check out some consignment stores on my down time. When I saw this place on Yelp, I was so excited to visit because of the reviews. I went to this store about 4:00 pm on a Tuesday. When I pulled up, I was happy that the parking situation was free and plentiful. As I walked up, I noticed that the place was very well kept and pretty big. I walked in and it didn't have a dingy smell like some consignment or thrift stores can have. I saw many nice brand name clothes. I was very impressed that they had a huge selection of size 14 clothes. Prices were good to moderate. I browses for about 20 minutes. I know that you're wondering that if everything was so good, why only two stars? Well, customer service is huge to me. The entire time that I was in the store, not a single employee said hello. Even though I was the only customer in the area for nearly 5 minutes, three ladies stood behind the counter having a conversation about school, mid terms, and other stuff. I browsed for about 5 more minutes with them still talking and no acknowledgement, so I left. To no surprise, no one said have a nice day or come back and see us or anything. That will be my first and last time there. read more

Finally a consignment shop that REALLY is upscale. And by upscale, I mean Prada, Hermes, Diane Von Furstenberg and Salvatore Ferragamo NOT Chico's. Although they do have that too. There are tons of items to sift through, but the racks are not easy to shop and the lighting is horrid- especially in the dressing room.
