I bought a small powerful Dyson there for five dollars, an affordable high quality teak patio umbrella, and a one of a kind gorgeous antique armoire there. The service is Superb - without exception, all Staff are hard workers, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and know their inventory. They also pick up donated goods - and there's a tax write off. I stopped into Second Chance today on our way to Pacific Grove. This is a great little store, its down on lighthouse, you'll have to walk or grab a spot on the street for parking. Inside the store was a decent size. We were greeting upon entering by a very friendly man who explained to us about the different sales and color markings. Showed us where we could find different items, and who to ask for help from. The store has a lot of nice items. Carries some interesting furniture pieces that are all priced very reasonably. Two leather couches were for sale there for less than $200 and were only mildly broken in. Plus tables and stands galore! They had a pianist in the corner who was absolutely wonderful. He definitely keep me in a positive mood during my visit at the store. The store has an interesting collection of items. But the clothing was a little outdated. Priced well, however nothing was in the age group I was in search of. Though one in our group was able to snag an $80.00 PT jacket for $2.50 that needed a mild repair.. That was by far the best deal of the day! And a friend of mine got a whole tux for under $30. Their pricing is definitely a steal! I'll be back for another visit I'm sure. Check it out! read more

By far the best thrift store around! Great staff, Great ministry... There is new stuff there EVERY DAY and as things come in the revolving sales (discounts) start! Its the most professionally run thrift store I have ever been to. Always a joy to just wander around and hang out with the exuberant staff! Only problem i walk in just to say "hi" and walk out with a bunch of great stuff! Praise God for what "the Bridge ministry" is doing through their efforts. I loves me some thrift shops in all sorts of incarnations but I just cannot recommend this one. I have never found anything here that I would take home. First, it smells, that weird, old-school, bad, thrift shop smell. So even if I did find anything like furniture or clothing that I might want it's right out because who wants to take that smell home? It's heavy on the tchotchke's and they seem to mostly be pulled from households big into cute and cuter. They also do something that drives me crazy in a thrift store. They try to sell junk. Stuff that simply should have been recycled. For example last time I was there they were selling two storage binders and the refill pages for a Franklin Covey planning system from 2007. Having to wade through useless crap is just irritating. In the end there are just so many fun shops out there you shouldn't waste your time here. read more

The service is great, their atmosphere was welcoming and positive, and their prices were amazing. Harvey, the lead cashier was great. He helped us bring our things to the car. I have been going to this location for years. It has changed hands a few times. It's currently a wonderful thrift shop with tons of great stuff. You can find a ton of records both LP and 45. They have some antique and some modern stuff. They have some furniture and some knick knacks. Also now there are clothes where before there were no clothes. It's a great store that has decent things. I have bought a solid-wood queen bedframe, a 300w gold halogen lamp, and a whole series of solid-wood tables from there. The stuff there is decent but the size of the store limits the variety. But Second Chance has this amazing guy working there who is a pianist and he will play the most amazing stuff in the store on this piano they keep in the corner. Fun little shop to look around in. Jewelry selection is nice and color tag sales make the prices very reasonable. Today they had 75% off all clothes and shoes. But the selection is limited and the clothes are sorted by color and type rather than size, which leads to a small headache when looking for something in particular. Clothing selection is pretty small though, so not too bad. Always manage to find something in my stop here, whether a necklace, house knick knack, or a book or two. read more

This is a great store with staff that really go the extra mile to meet your needs. They have an eclectic collection of items and their discount system keeps the items in the store turning over so there are always new things on the floor. A live pianist was playing as we walked into the store. That was different, and very nice. Everything is organized very well. There are some treasures in the small clothing section. I got jeans for one dollar woohoo. Most of everything in the store is color coded with a certain additional percentage off, which makes a nice surprise at checkout when everything is cheaper than already is. It is your typical thrift store I didn't really find anything that stood out however I did buy an old vintage pair of binoculars that I thought was pretty awesome. I would stop by and shop here everyday just to visit and socialize the employees. The employees at Second Chance Thrift are some of the kindest people you will ever meet. They are funny, try their best to relate, and are incredibly helpful. On my visit to Monterey, the thrift store enthusiast in me could not resist walking in here, especially with the beautiful outdoor furniture displayed outside the store. When you walk in you see a little bit of everything, but the best part is it's all in great condition, nothing but regular wear and tear. They have a ton of furniture, kitchen items, and books I wish I could take home. My favorite find was mason jars for $1 with an additional discount, so I took medium sized mason jars for .85. I really wanted to take an outdoor sectional and patio home so bad. They were in great condition and something you don't often find at thrift stores...ever! I have been shopping at Second Chance for about five years now and today was probably the best and most fun shopping day ever!!! It was a beautiful day!!! Customers were in a good mood and the staff absolutely knocked it out of the park today on customer service. I saw two of them moving some really heavy furniture for customers !! I literally was greeted by seven of the staff members and volunteers . It felt like I was having a visit with dear friends and not just shopping!!! I did find some real treasures - a book for my dad, a couple of vintage scrapbooks, a basket, a cute metal tin for holding some of my drawing markers and the BEST deal of the day - three vintage pieces of real Depression glass in pink You definitely need to pay a visit to this place. The best store in the county, perhaps in the state in my opinion!! I shop here at least a couple of times a month at both locations. I love all of the staff and I completely support the programs the profits fund. You never know what you will find each time you shop. The prices go down every week via a color coded pricing method, which moves out the stock allowing a constant supply of new stock on the floor. You can get a customer loyalty card which can give you dollars off your purchases! The lads and the ladies are always smiling, helpful and gracious. It is a Christian organization, which I love, but your personal faith or lack of it, makes no difference to how you are made to feel. God bless each and everyone of them! read more
