The food was mediocre at best. I had the Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes. I was given a single trip to their soup and salad bar with it. The cream of broccoli soup was pretty tasty, but the lettuce for the salad was slimy and wilted. Not appealing in the least. My chicken fried steak was a strange mix of fatty and tender. I've had way better at other area restaurants. The mashed potatoes had a strange flavor to them and were only edible with the gravy smothering them. Like I said, food was mediocre. The waitress waited 30 to 45 minutes after the meal was finished to bring the check. I would think she hadn't noticed but she came by and said she'd bring a to-go box for my child's meal. In the meantime, she was gabbing to locals. Not very impressive. It wasn't until my child began crying (long past ready to go) that she brought the check and to-go box. Prior to abandoning my table, she was almost over-attentive bringing my child free food items without checking in to see if they were allowed or if there were any food allergies. When the to-go box finally arrived too, the waitress scooped the food into it with her bare hands. Yuck! It was thrown in the trash the moment we left. There also was NOT air conditioning like is advertised either. The restaurant itself was clean and looks nice outside, but this one unfortunately goes on my 'Never Again' list. read more

This place needs all the hype it can get!!! Phenomenal little small business with amazing food and staff. The waitress was so friendly and attentive. We got the special of the day which was chicken salad sandwich and it was great! They also have homemade soup each day along side a salad bar! Please don't pass this place when driving down highway 28! We stopped on our way to Quinn's hot springs and worth it! I also had a slice of their homemade pie. Great! Side note: don't leave there without trying their hand cut fries!!!!!!! Pros: great staff, big parking lot, hard to miss, good food and prices! Cons: none! read more

There aren't too many places to go in Hot Springs and this was close by and convenient. I had the hot beef sandwich which is served as open-faced sandwich. The beef was tender and the gravy taste was good but overall it was very heavy on the gravy and butter that I couldn't actually finish all of it. My fiancé got the chicken sandwich and had a better experience. It may be that I'm just not used to the food style around this area, and perhaps others would appreciate the heavier food more than me. Also the choices are limited around here, so it may still be worth stopping by. read more

Go for the sweet potato fries and tater tots - skip the rest. Only thing positive about service - it was all family. This includes the young girl (~10 year old) seating us. Bison burgers were tougher than shoe leather - wife couldn't eat hers. Clientele are locals on lunch break - of all sorts and types. A positive was the building is very nice looking on the outside. No cream for my coffee, only milk, forgot my cheese on the omelette and brought me out a bowl of cold shredded cheese without offering to heat it up. deserts store bought :(. First time eating breakfast there, Husband liked his scramble. Friendly staff and very hospitable. STOP-STOP-STOP Here We were just passing thru in our RV and needed to make some quick repairs, HUGE parking lot for our Coach and pulled truck. Service was outstanding!! Wish I got her name but she was friendly, attentive and was by herself with several other tables to have to serve. Food was fantastic..Hubby had the special Prime Rib sandwich, cooked perfect and roll was warm and soft. Came w/ Potato Chips & pickle slices. He also had the BBQ bean soup (I think that's what it was called?? Really good flavor. I had the burgers covered w/ chili, cheese & onions (I think it was called Lori's something?) it was delicious, especially the chili!! There was a table or 2 of locals and another family group just passing thru, so nice to have this right on the highway..makes it easy for travelers, but most important was the food and service!! Highly recommend Second Home. The atmosphere is well designed and locally inspired. The mixed drinks were fantastic, I had 3 sheets to the wind, which consists of 3 rums. Food was excellent, good portion sizes and delicious flavors. read more

We stopped in for lunch on our way to Kalispell. When we arrived we were the only customers. I had the steak salad and my wife had the hamburger. Both were very good. The help was friendly. There is a bar next door. Its not a fancy place but its good folk and good eats. read more

I am convinced that this is the best restaurant in all of Sanders County. We drive 25 miles one way once a week to eat here. If you're traveling highway 28 at lunch or dinner time, stop in. You won't be disappointed. Best chicken fried steak I've ever had. Best taco salad too. Prime rib and salad bar is a weekend favorite. The soups are superb and usually something out of the ordinary. Food is ok. Atmosphere is nice. Service can be a bit slow at times. Burgers tend to be overcooked.

Just stopped in for dinner on our way to Whitefish- what a great decision! After saying hi to the friendly spotted horse next door we took a seat at the bar. We had great conversation with the owners at the bar and a couple of locals- what a gem this place is. For $70 four of us enjoyed local Montana beers and a variety of dinner- they offered to make us anything on the extensive lunch and dinner menu. The verdict: large portions. Crispy fried chicken and yummy mashed pot and gravy. Good bacon cheese burger and your choice of fries, tots, Jo Jo's, sweet potato fries....solid food and great company. Make the stop! read more
