I've become a regular at The Shoe, and it continues to impress me every time I visit. My go-to order is the grilled salmon, and the risotto that accompanies it deserves special recognition. It's flavorful and complements the fish perfectly. It's one of those side dishes that could easily stand on its own. Another favorite is the coconut shrimp. Sometimes I order it as an appetizer, and other times I make it my entire meal because it's that good. I appreciate that The Shoe embraces its Montana roots with farm-to-table bison burgers and steaks. Haven't been here since 2020. Came for prime rib and it did not disappoint. Arrived at 7 pm. Most restaurants don't have rare prime rib at this time. However this place had it and it was fantastic. Comes with two sides so we had a baked potato and risotto. Our server Sophie was fairly new and had the bartender open a bottle of Josh cabernet . It was great and complimented our entree. We shared the dinner and it was way enough. Generally when dining at our areas where we live we bring our own wine and pay a corkage Generally 10 to 15 dollars and 25 at high end establishments. I asked and their corkage is $35. Obviously not familiar with how things work. A corkage makes up for trouble of storing and serving wine. $35 is ludicrous and not productive to profit management. I came up from Missoula to fish on the lake and we stopped here for dinner afterwards. I can't say enough how well rounded and exceptional my experience was. We were immediately sat by the kind hostess who got myself and my fiancé a table with the best view on the patio. The food was so delicious, hands down the best food in the area, if not Western Montana. We had the bread basket, coconut shrimp for starters and were blown away. Then our main courses came out. I had the fettuccine and my fiancé had the salmon beurre blanc, not surprisingly, these were insanely delicious as well. The wine and cocktails were the cherry on top. The best thing about this place? It's fairly priced. You can eat like a King and it won't break the bank. Just be sure to tip your waiter and send compliments to the chef. Came in for dinner tonight. The place was packed out and staff let my family know there would be a wait on food. Totally understandable considering one of the busiest nights in town. Everything was amazing! I especially wanted to make a review because (Jamie) that just left a review was incredibly rude towards his server and was calling names to a lady who looked like the manager. Most people come on here to complain expecting quick service in a seasonal town not realizing how unrealistic they are with expectations. Will definitely come back the next time I visit. We were driving all over looking for some place open to get food at 7:15 on a Monday evening when I found The Shoe. I'm so glad I ignored the negative reviews and stopped in. Amazing view of Flathead Lake. The inside is beautiful. We ordered wings and potato skins. Both were very good. Our server Anna was phenomenal! I waited tables for twenty years. I know how rare it is anymore to find a server who is on top of everything. She was friendly and attentive but didn't over wait on us. They've got a keeper in her! We'll definitely be back! WOW!! I mean WOW OH WOW!! What a difference a few months can make. The owner has recently (Summer '23) hired a new executive chef, who is now training other chefs. The menu is the same as of now, but will be revamped in the upcoming months. But, I had the Chicken Picatta, one of my favorite dishes, and can honestly say it was one of...if not THE BEST...Chicken Picattas I've had anywhere. The chicken was prepared perfectly, the lemon-caper sauce was EXACTLY as it should, and the linguine pasta bed was also perfect. My wife had the roasted half-chicken and, when our waitress said it's "sous vide, then flash-fried", we knew something was up...and boy were we right. Again, PERFECT prepared and delicious! Their Old Fashioned rivals the best I've ever had, which is mine...lol...because I've used the best of the best recipes to come up with my own. Well, The Shoe has just upped the game and caused me to think about modifying my recipe once again! "Stormi" was more than our server; she's the new Assistant Manager and was a delight. She was timely, caring, and truly wanted to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Same holds true for the other waitress who checked on us to make sure our order was taken, along with the Bartendress who was delighted to hear my compliments on the O.F.. For anyone hesitating with less than perfect reviews; consider it THE PAST...HISTORY...GONE. Our family of 4 arrived on Friday around 7pm. We were seated outside right away. The view was beautiful! It took 20 minutes for someone to show up at our table and bring water. We were ready to order at that point because we were hungry. We ordered off the menu, no special requests. It took another 40 minutes to get one appetizer and we were informed they "ran out of bread" (our second appetizer.) We were waiting for 1.5 hours before our waitress noticed us and we were able to ask how long it would take to get our meal. At almost 2 hours we received our food!! We were not very happy as there were several groups that were seated after we ordered yet received their food much sooner. They did not bring out one side my son ordered, no explanation. When I later questioned why he didn't receive his side (chips,) they informed us they "ran out." Our waitress informed us that we would not be charged for the items they didn't have. Really? What a shock! The manager then came out to talk to us. When we informed her it took almost 2 hours to get our food she said we would get a 10% discount. Not impressed. Food itself was okay, a bit salty. My son did not like his fettuccini alfredo and didn't eat it. It looked like it was out for quite some time when they brought it to the table. As other Yelpers have mentioned, the views here are fabulous. We were pleased that the food was also great. We had fish tacos and the chicken sandwich. Bothe we're yummy. The sweet potato fries were good, but the rosemary fries were somewhat underdone. Serving size of the fries was huge! Our server was attentive and friendly and the prices were reasonable. We were worried about coming here based on the problems people had in the past - waiting 2 hours for food. Our service was excellent, however. Our server was extremely attentive. We had drinks and appetizers in less than half an hour and our whole dining experience was 1.5 hours. Everything was perfectly timed and our server checked on us constantly. I can understand being busy, but the main reason I am giving 1 star is because the actual owner lost his cool and used the word f... with my friend when he was expressing how frustrated the situation was. I also own a business, and I have been in really bad situations, and I know as an owner, you can never insult a client. Let me be crystal clear. This place used to be one of the best not in Polson or Montana, but in the Nation. The food was amazing in a not so distant past. We visited several times between 2021 and 2023. Fast forward 20 months and OMG how far they have fallen. The Bison burger is now an unseasoned mess with zero flavor on a grocery store bun. The paddy was so cold that it could not melt the cheese. I had to put on a ton of ketchup (something I never do) to make it edible. I order one of their cocktails and it was just bad. The service was good, and the ambiance is unmatched. This place must have changed management or they are now counting on the location as a primary attraction with food as a third (or 4th... or 5th) thought. We ate here because during Covid, if we eat out, which is extremely rare, we will only eat on patios and outdoors. This place has a lovely patio overlooking Flathead lake, and the menus we found online appeared to have a decent variety of food allowing us to find something to eat. Upon entering, we were stunned, only one or two of the staff were wearing masks. With the state requirement, we were surprised. We almost walked out and went elsewhere, but before we could decide, the took us to a table on the patio. For this reason alone, I am removing a star. If you don' t take this seriously, how seriously do you take cleanliness and other things to keep your patrons safe? For food, we had the crab cakes, shrimp scampi and a margarita pizza. We also ordered a bottle of rosé wine. I was impressed that the mark up on the wines was super reasonable and the food prices were also reasonable. The crab cakes were very good, lots of crab with very little filler. The shrimp scampi and pizza also turned out just fine. That is where the good kind of ends and my concerns come in......service was very slow and disjointed. Not sure if this was our servers fault or the kitchen, but I gather it was the kitchen because things our server controlled were somewhat timely (like the wine, asking for silverware, and the bill). However, the first issue was that one of the other servers took our food to another table in error, causing us about a 30 minute delay......next, when my dish came out, I sat for a good 7 minutes before my partners food came out. I find this unacceptable, as I think dining together is important. I will say that I saw something I found remarkable. A group of 8 ladies showed up and it was clearly a bachelorette party. When one of the girls asked the host to take a photo of them at their table, she said it would be a cuter photo if they did it on the stairs and down on the dock. She ended up spending a good 20 minutes with the party taking a variety of photos of them down on the dock and on the stairs down to the dock. She was patient, kind and generous with her time. I was super impressed with her and how she handed this special event. Anyway, so why only 3 stars? Mostly due to their handling of covid and the disjointed service. I was in Polson for a long weekend to spend some time on the lake and wanted pizza for dinner. I posted up at the bar. For a Sunday at 4:30 the restaurant was fairly busy and the bar had a handful of people sitting. There was only one bartender and she was constantly in the weeds. She did acknowledge me but let me know it would be a bit for a menu and to take a drink order. So that was fine. I put in my pizza order and it definitely took about 45 minutes? And it was virtually impossible to get her attention to get another drink. The pizza was delicious - and worth the wait. What wasn't worth the wait was for a box and also my check. That took another 30 minutes which is unacceptable. The view is amazing and worth stopping in. The 4 stars are for the pizza, not the service. read more

The Shoe's major claim to fame is the beautiful view of the lake. Even on a minorly stormy day, the patio was hard to beat with that view. I had a very sour Paloma cocktail, the Cajun shrimp and a ceasar salad. I probably didn't choose the best things on the menu on which to judge, but I found the Cajun shrimp (menu says uniquely sweet and spicy) to be too uniquely sweet. I was hoping for more spicy. But I ate it after scraping off some of the sauce. I'd stop by again, and try to find a better menu item. 3 stars for the food, 4 stars for the view. read more

Well, my wife and I tried this place again. What a shame. Someone has invested a ton of money. They just remodeled again; it has a great location and no leadership. On Thursday last week, my wife had a luncheon with eight friends. They're open for lunch but start lunch at noon. Who does that? Everyone opens at 11 or, at the latest, 1130 if you're a lunch place. We arrive at 11:30, not knowing it starts at noon. By the way, it is summer, and their hours need to be updated on Yelp. Another few cars arrive, and eight additional grey-haired ladies are standing in the heat. A guy and a girl arrive. They knock on the door. They are told they have to wait until noon. They leave. Two more cars arrive, and when they ask, and we tell them noon, they leave. I called the restaurant, and the woman who answered was nice but uninterested in what was happening outside. I asked if they could open the doors, let the ladies sit in the cooler area, and maybe have some water. She says she'll check. Then she comes outside (now ten until noon) and tells the ladies standing out there they must wait. They all pack up and leave, as do two more cars that come in. My wife went in with her crew precisely at noon and not a minute sooner. She ordered artichoke dip and chips, which were burnt. The waitress said she'd tell the kitchen. The special for the day was a burger for $25.00, and her crew, which meets for lunch every week, has yet to return. It is a shame. Polson needs places like this but they are clueless as to how to run a business. read more

Had dinner there last night and it could've been a really nice experience. The operative word is could've. The setting is really nice and the views are excellent if you get the proper seating. We got there about 15 minutes after it opened and were promptly ignored at the hostess spot. Stood there for at least 5 minutes with no one even remotely attempting to help us with seating. Finally, someone comes over and asks us if we would like to have dinner. Yeah, that's the general idea otherwise I would've sat at the bar. We ask if outdoor seating is available but that was out of the question even though there were at least 5 tables available. Got seated and we were promptly assaulted by a young server that didn't have a clue what beers were available. She was brusk and fairly uninformed. Stunning that a restaurant located in an area where there are multiple local breweries and they don't carry any of those local brews. Standard grocery store bottled beer. She brings me a bottled beer and we order. Had a decent cup of soup that was barely warm. We followed that by having a Caesar salad with chicken and a bison steak salad. Both were excellent. However, the dinner was interrupted multiple times by servers and staff coming over and asking us if everything was fine. I get that maybe once but 3-4 times is unacceptable. The topper was the server coming over to us when we were maybe two thirds done our salads and asking if we wanted a dessert. When we declined she immediately transitioned into whipping out her mobile device and asking us to settle up on our dinner right now. Absolutely ridiculous to interrupt an ongoing dinner and request payment. This place is ok but the staff needs a serious training session on customer service and courtesy. Definitely would not recommend this place. McDonalds has better customer service and the prices are more reasonable. read more
