I've been battling with adult onset cystic acne for the past 2 years and was going through a roller coaster of ups and downs. I had completely clear skin throughout my childhood and teenage years, and was so confused when acne became a part of my life in my early 20s. After some time, things eventually got better and I finally thought my battles with acne were done. I thought I got my skin to a good place in the spring of 2023, but then my skin started acting up again and it got really bad. I cried almost everyday because of how much I hated my skin and the frustration of not knowing how to fix it. I live a super healthy life, exercise every day, and eat very clean. I ran hormone tests, food / environmental allergen, and tons of other tests at the doctors and everything always came back perfectly normal. I just didn't get why I could not figure out how to manage my skin! I hated looking at myself in the mirror, would lock myself inside and hardly ever go outdoors, and I started isolating myself from friends and family. I had no self confidence and was so desperate to find a solution. In the fall of 2023, I decided to look into estheticians. I prioritized finding someone who had a lot of experience in the profession, specialized in acne, had a private practice vs huge facility, and was not going to push medications on me. After lots of research and looking through different options, I found Susan! I called her one Saturday afternoon, and on that first phone call, I knew I had made the right decision. She listened to me and showed empathy towards my situation. I had an appointment with her scheduled a couple days later and she walked me through her plan to start working on my skin. I appreciated how open and honest she was, not guaranteeing overnight or fast solutions but a long term plan to get my acne under control and then work on the acne scarring. I overhauled all my skincare products and purchased all the PCA products she recommended to me which are great! Her practice is 1:1 which means when you go for your appointments, the only person you see is her and can avoid the doctor office feeling that many large facility esthetician / dermatologist offices have. I am personally very self conscious of my skin and knowing I can go in and out of any appointment without seeing anyone is very nice. Her private home spa is very clean, calming, and welcoming. I look forward to all my appointments and it's truly the most relaxing part of my week. She is very flexible with scheduling. I go see her almost every week as I want to reach my goals as soon as possible, but she will work with your preferences and timeline. She is also available via text if I ever have questions. While I have only seen her for 9 treatments / 3 months so far, there has been a huge huge huge change in skin. Besides maybe a few active pimples here and there, my skin is mostly acne free and now the main thing we are working on is scarring and hyperpigmentation. While I know I still have a ways to go, I have hope knowing that I will achieve my goal of clear and glowing skin soon. My confidence has slowly started to get better and I'm overall much happier. Skin can have a huge impact on your life, especially as a young woman, and Susan has helped me feel so much better about myself. All of the workers wore face masks and seemed like they kept their space COVID safe. The appointment started off with me sharing about skin care concerns or things I wanted to focus on that day. I felt like she took into consideration my concerns for rough patches and blemishes. After the appointment was over, I felt super relaxed and happy with how my skin immediately felt. The women put the steamer on my face for I swear 3 seconds and then turned it off, that's way shorter than most people do it. The machine for the hydrafacial didn't have liquid coming out consistently when it should have. And she didn't try to fix it. Like cool I'm not getting my moneys worth. The extra extractions after we're OK, but she missed a huge pimple that was ready to pop so not very through. Also, she only left the red light on my face for three minutes and all of the research says it needs to be longer than that to be beneficial at all so it's just a total waste and for how much they're charging. sometimes when other places leave red light on your face, you get like a hand massage or something like that she just left the room. It wasn't like a bad bad facial but again for the price. I just think it was completely not worth it. I wouldn't recommend. Because I've known her for for a decade, I can say she is trustworthy enough to invite into my home to do the waxes. She is extremely professional, clean, skilled, nice, honesty, prompt, and efficient. I've only tried 1 other wax place once and it was nowhere near as good as what Alexandra can do. She uses hard wax and disposable wooden sticks, and has her own table that she brings for her house calls. I must say that she was truly professional about her business and the space that she works out of is safe, clean and welcoming. As far as the facial is concerned, Ony gave me a lot of information about skin care and other information about the equipment she uses and also the entire process.
