Raised our rent. Went from $138 to $222 and we've only been here since September lol. Says it was for "increase in security" but it actually all looks the same. they aren't increasing security, just taking advantage of the fact that you don't want to go through the hassle of moving your stuff again. Our January project is to move storage units because of this. Highly exploitative and closing at 7 is a huge inconvenience. I don't believe places should be able to raise the prices whenever they feel like it. Gross. Just a fair warning to whoever else wants to rent here. Also, the "half off" discount was BS. Great experience today bc of Tony. They deserve a raise and promotion. I've had a unit with secure space for about a year, and like with all major storage companies have experience price creep that was not disclosed when I signed up. My monthly bill had doubled in this period! What a scam. However, Tony walked me thru transparently how secure space does the billing and helped me set up a new storage unit in the same building for the same price as I originally signed up for. I was going to leave secure space for good and take my business elsewhere, but knowing there is personal customer service that is willing to look out for my interests has convinced me to stay. I hope secure space is listening--Tony knows how to earn ppls business and he's earned mine. Much gratitude! read more

Management is never here during business hours. I can't speak for other SecureSpace locations but it's hard to get in touch with anyone that physically works here. The staff here have always been super helpful and kind when I've worked with them. Especially Carvel! I just can't find anybody when I'm trying to. The call agents are great but aren't connected to the location so don't often know what's physically going on or where staff might be. I've needed to talk to the manager 3 times since being here for half a year this is the second time no one was around. Past the hours listed on the website. The first time I had to leave and come back later which seems like the case again now. And as other reviews have said the rates rise here to close to double what you initially sign up for post fees and surcharges. On top of that, this site is unfortunately having issues with their access gate. In the meantime they are leaving the exit door wide open to everyone to still give customers access. But that also defeats the purpose of our access codes for secure storage. It's temporary, and understandable by itself, but with the high prices, not having 24/7 access to your unit, and unreachable staff, you start to wonder what you're even paying for. read more

After reading these reviews, I am glad to find out that I was not the only one who has experienced bad service at the hands of their morning counter person. This older lady is one of the most obtuse individuals I have ever met. Here is how it went (you be the judge). I go to the office and try to dispute this last month's bill. According to this obstinate and hard-headed lady, my friend owed the monthly rent on his unit for June. According to my recollection, I paid in May the rent for May and June. It even showed a negative on her records, showing that the account was in overpayment. She can't even tell on a bill if an account is positive or negative. So, because she can't even read a ledger, she puts the storage unit in default and readies it for auction. This added an unwarranted $150 lien fee. Again, keep in mind, this is less than three weeks after the rent was overdue, not seven weeks per this employee who I think she is the manager. SecureSpace customer service was mixed with the first gentleman I talked to being very polite and helpful to the next day which the agent on the phone hung up twice on me and took the manager's side of the story regardless of what math was on the ledger!!! BE WARNED!!! YOU COULD ALL LOSE YOUR STUFF BECAUSE THE PEOPLE AT SECURESPACE SELF STORAGE cannot do SIMPLE math!!!! read more

I've rented from this place for a long time, and while prior management wasn't perfect, I've never encountered anything like what I've seen these past few days. I'll spare the all the details this time, but over the span of less than a week, had the payment portal not work, told not to worry, there would be no late fee, then a few days later there was a 300% late fee of $93 that they refused to waive, and another $93 late fee would be assessed Sat if the Fri late fee wasn't paid. This was partly due to an undated invoice that they randomly decided was due a couple days before my normal rent payment, even though there is no clear due date on the invoice, and the charge on the undated invoice was duplicated on an invoice due Jan 1. Getting through this involved hand delivering a check at the last moment after a long drive. They initially said they wouldn't accept the check, because it didn't have a late fee for the undated invoice, but I left it anyways. Got an email a couple hours later the payment was accepted. If you rent from this place, expect shenanigans and a super unhelpful head manager. Plenty of blame shifting, backpedaling and broken promises. read more

READ AND GRAB SOME LUBE BEFORE YOU RENT HERE. Your rent will be raised $80-100 the 4th month, and the same atleast once if not twice a year, and the ski is the limit. At the end of a year a $100 monthly unit will be $280, a $180 starting unit will be $380. It is secure, the managers and staff are great, but they have their hands tied behind their backs by the upper management, who's # 1 priority is share holders satisfaction, and getting new renters is a close second. Once your in, don't plan on getting any thing fixed for months if at all, if there's an issue with your bill or your overcharged, or charged a $50 sum thing late fee that you should not have been. And in my experience and 2 others I know rented there, one or all three of those things happened at some point. No one onsite can resolve these issues, though the staff will try, they just get the run around as if they didn't even work for the same company. It's really a sad situation, because, it's a good secure facility, with good people working there, but they aren't allowed to do anything but show and rent new units. So your first experience will be great, and that's the only reason their approval score is above 33%. Like most places they push new renters to do a review right there before they leave day one, when they have yet to get the experiences. Read all the reviews. All positive are from day ones, try to find a positive from people who have had enough time there to be qualified to tell about their experience. Good ol corporate America. read more

So far, so awful. I arrived at the storage facility with a full car only to be told that they called this morning to let me know that I had to bring in proof of insurance or they would not let me move in. I reserved the space last week. Why did they wait until the day of my move to tell me this?? Why wasn't this in any of the emails I received? I am now losing precious time because of their incompetence/inattentiveness and I am EXTREMELY displeased. read more
