Had my storage unit broken into last month. Firearms, cameras, laptops, ipad, and other things were stolen. The tweakers broke into the unit through the wire mesh overhead by clipping the metal. Simply self storage was notified about what happened and said that they would be fixing the hole in the unit ASAP and looking at security cameras. I called every day to ask the progress on repairing my unit and it took them 7 days to patch the hole in the top. How did they fix it? 3 zip ties. you would think after paying $250 a month for a secure unit that they would at least fix it the right way. I then asked if they saw anything on security cameras, and well guess what? the camera doesn't face towards my unit. Could this have been an inside job? Really makes me wonder! Lighting inside of the unit is poor, there is a older man living out of one of the units near the large bay door where you load and unload your belongings. The homeless hangout right down by the waterfront. I wouldn't recommend using this facility. read more

Simply Self Storage is no more - it's now another Public Storage location and for you MBAs out there, you can dump the stuff that doesn't currently fit into your new life in Seattle in an investment property that's now part of Blackstone's REIT [see, private equity] and feel like a player. Not much has changed since Simply Self changed hands. They assume you're a deadbeat and screw up the billing but with private equity involved, their dunning emails are a little slicker and a little friendlier. You *have to* download their app in order to sign your contract or membership or whatever they call it. When my payment didn't make it in on time thanks to Chase and Jamie Dimon they jumped on me and rather than go through the sorting hassle, I simply paid the bill twice. A human called shortly after about my bill and found my two payments. I said just add it to my account...ciao. This pays me up thru January. But this very day I got an email with my balance due for December. Oh, please... Their "chat bot" must have been out to lunch so I left a vm for the Market St. "property manager" to explain that I'm paid up thru 2023. But I'm tired of this stuff and for paying over $100/mo. to store artifacts that are weighing me down anyway. I'm going to get the boxes, go through them, give or throw away whatever's in there, and quit my job as archivist for family memories. As I do I'll remember Robert Herrick's wonderful 17th Cent. poem, the only English-language poem written in monometer, or so I've heard: "Thus I, Pass by, And die, As one, Unknown, And gone." read more

THIEVES PARADISE. Our rent was raised significantly after a few months of moving in, then recently we had our unit broken into, the security is a complete joke. The facility seems secure at first glance but once you have access inside (for instance just walking to the bathroom from Portage bay Café) all a potential thief has to do is climb up (also made easy by the thin wire mesh on top of each unit) and peel up any one of the tops of the units with a small prybar or any tool really. Then all they have to do is walk out with your goods, hop in a car and drive away. Yes there are cameras but outside of a few main lanes coverage isn't great. Even if they did get a thief on camera apparently there is nothing they can do aside from filing a police report and even that might be a stretch. After our break in we moved out of the facility. Simply Self Storage is better than leaving all your belongings locked in a car on Market Street but not by much. read more

Simply Self Storage in Ballard bills itself as a convenient, affordable, safe option for your urban storage needs in Seattle. They offer larger storage units at a premium, promising access to a loading bay area through a large door that can accommodate moving vehicles. You would think that when this loading bay door stopped working due to a supposed electrical issue, Simply Self Storage would have quickly used some of the thousands upon thousands of dollars its customers spend every month to fix the issue, especially since the customers with storage units closest to this loading bay door typically pay the highest prices. After more than a month of inaction, the door remains just as broken and inaccessible as it was on day one. This means over half of the facility (which is more than a city block long), remains inaccessible through this broken door. The issue goes beyond simple inconvenience; after more than a month of inaction, it has now become gross negligence on their part. We've tried complaining to the customer service agent on duty, but it's apparent that person has no power or ability to fix the issue, and their response to "just use another door" doesn't solve the problem. Imagine walking an extra city block carrying all of your living room furniture down small corridors, and being charged several hundreds of dollars a month for the privilege, all for want of a working door. I leave this review because the issue has gone unaddressed after more than a month of complaints. We're still paying the same premiums for our storage unit, without getting what we're paying for. Simply Self Storage: fix the loading bay door now. You owe it to your customers to address this issue, and to refund a portion of your customers' money to compensate for the loss of time and services. read more

The storage side of things is good. Location, access, light, safety...no problems so far. However, we have been storing things there for eight months and we are just coming off of our third month of having heck of a time trying to pay our bill...and late payments come with a $40 fee. First of all, there is no way to pay online. Which just seems crazy to me. Then, when you try to call in and make a payment, 9 times out of 10 it goes to voicemail. During normal business hours. For hours on end. No joke this has happened on multiple occasions over several months. I seriously think they operate like this on the day before bills are due on purpose....which is really pretty nasty. Perhaps we are just super unlucky? All I know is we are out $ in fees and have wasted lots of time. read more

Market Street self storage has the best hours around, and is conveniently located near the downtown area of Ballard. 5am to 11pm access is super convenient. I can drive into the heated building and large dollies take my goods to and fro my storage unit - all ground floor units. Professional staff - helpful & courteous. read more

These guys have been absolutely fantastic! The load-in bays are secure and covered. The facilities are clean, dry and temperature controlled, so I really haven't had to worry about the items I have in storage being damaged. The employees I've encountered have always been polite and helpful--and have even exceeded my expectations on a few occasions. Including my home and my business, I'm currently renting five storage units from three local self-storage facilities. I'm renting three of those five units from Market Street Self storage, and I will continue to business with them as long as I have a need! read more

I've had a unit here since they opened, and my partner has one as well. As does my mom. In terms of safety, lighting, security, and prices, we're very pleased. Access is really easy, and several cars/trucks can park inside the building for loading/unloading. The building is kept very clean, and there are no storage smells. The one concern I would note is this: There has been some ceiling leakage in one or two of the corridors, and that water, if not caught quickly, can then drain into a unit. I had this happen with my mom's unit, and quickly moved everything to another unit. Unless you buy insurance, you are not covered if your goods are damaged. As a result, I advise putting pallets in your unit and storing your items on top of the pallets -- plus check your stuff after a big rainstorm. This is a great place to store things if you need frequent access. read more

THIS FACILITY IS NOT SAFE OR SECURE. Our unit was recently broken into and property was stolen: not once, but twice within a week. We have been extremely disappointed with the security at this facility. Perhaps what has been most upsetting has been the company's response (or lack there of) to this issue. When they initially called to inform us that it looked like the unit had been tampered with we were told there was no one available to fix the door until the following day. It was very concerning that they did have staff available to address these issues promptly. This meant the unit sat unsecured for at least another 24 hours. Then our unit was then broken into a SECOND time. This time we were told there was no manager available to assist with our concerns. They seem to just be brushing it off as "these things happen". They said there had been increased robberies at storage units and they have done nothing to respond. We will no longer be using the facility. I barely even feel safe to enter the property let alone keep items there. They may say they value your "business", but they certainly do not value their customers. read more

Market Street Self Storage has been very satisfactory for my purposes, and professionally run. Access and parking are very good, the loading area and aisles are lit well and clean. I am storing items from my home, as well as business records. I had one problem with my credit card, (it had been cancelled because of a fraud alert) which caused me to miss a payment (I'm on automatic payment), but they reversed the penalty charge when I explained the situation. read more

I cannot say enough great things about the staff and facilities here at Market Street Work Lofts. I run a business through my office in one of the work lofts and sometimes need to work late which isn't a problem due to having 24 hour access to my unit. The building is safe and secure and has recently undergone a rather extensive remodel (both inside and outside.) I can't say enough great things about my experience here! The staff have gone above and beyond in their attention to detail and communication- specifically Todd and Mistina. read more

I rent a work loft from Market Street. I love my loft! The ceiling are high and the long windows bring in a lot of light. Our space is a good size, with a kitchenette. Management has been very friendly and easy to work with. The free parking is a huge plus, as is the location right next to the Ballard Locks. read more

The work lofts are nice and the location is great. Its really nice having a great breakfast spot with Protege Bay so close and Kiss cafe is another great addition for when its time to take a break and grab a bite. The lofts also have showers and bathrooms on site . Not a bad spot to have a work loft or hobby loft away from home. read more

This place is horrible. The staff are rude and snobby. They constantly complained about how often we came and went, they were very rude to our guest even yelling at one for stting on their precious cart. They terminated our contract even though we were a month and a half ahead on our rent then they refused to allow us to get our stuff back unless we got it all out in one shot, well that was a little hard to do without a vehicle and then to top it all off they call me Saturday afternoon and tell me that my locker has been broken into and upon viewing was freaking empty. Booooo!!!! Market street storage boooooooo!!!!!! shame on you. They'll treat your stuff like it's there's alright. Their garbage! Then the lady has the nerve to tell me that i signed a zero liability contract so they aren't responsible.
