Security Equipment Corp: One of My Favorite Island Firearm Distributors This review is long over due because I been a loyal customer for six years. Customer service at the Security Equipment Corp is excellent. The staff is both friendly and very helpful in providing information on firearms on inventory, consignment availability, and upcoming on-island gun shows. This is a great location to purchase inexpensive bulk ammunition. In the past I found some great deals for 9mm, 45 ACP, and .223. Security Equipment Corp has a decent selection and is a great location if one is looking to purchase Glocks or SIG SAUER handguns. There are also discounts for military and law enforcement personnel. The only reason why I did not give this establishment five stars is because of parking. Parking can be bad in the early afternoon. The options for parking is either on the street or limited stalls in the back of the building. read more

Great business employed by great people. Went in today to purchase a Springfield 1911 and was helped by a guy name Chris. They're pretty knowledgable and friendly compared to some other shops I been to on island. I was so happy with my visit I ended up buying two 1911's and some ammo. Bought previous guns at either XRing or at Young Guns in Mapunapuna. Unfortunately I didn't know about Security Equipment Corp. went there with my brother and bought my first Glock pistol. It's awesome that they have a military/law enforcement discount on certain guns. They really value and honor those who serve, like myself. Plus it's so convenient to go straight to HPD HQ to register purchased guns. Matt Li is an awesome associate to work with. He is very knowledgeable and is very easy to work with. Actually all the employees were very friendly and knowledgable. I rate places like this for the service provided not what they have or do not have in stock because of the nature of a firearms store in this day and age. When I first walked into the shop all the associates were busy helping customers so I patiently waited my turn. After about 10 min a sales associate asked if I had any questions, I explained to him my situation (no handgun affidavit but wanted to pre-shop around) Despite me not being able to actually purchase a handgun at that moment he still took the time to answer all my questions AND let me handle every pistol I wanted to see without question or hesitation. I recently purchased 2 handguns from SEC, a S&W M&P Pro Series CORE w/ Trijicon Red Dot, and an awesome Walther PPQ M1. The whole staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Casey, Matt, Ants and Creighton know their guns, and none of them are pushy. They let you hold and feel the guns you are interested in without ever trying to push the sale on you. I've also bought their bulk ammo and cleaning supplies and their prices are decent. They are also Police and Military friendly. I definitely recommend coming here to SEC before you go to OGC or Young Guns, even though it's smaller. read more

When I first went to this shop it felt like I had been there for years. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful and they assist you in finding exactly what you want and need and they are not just trying to sell you the most expensive things possible. They take the time to listen to what your looking for, and provide you with options for your own personal situation whether it'd be recreational, security based, or work related. They have a wealth of knowledge into getting you exactly what your looking for and if they don't have it, they usually know exactly where you can get it. Their customer service is second to none in my opinion as I had tons of questions and concerns during my visits and spent almost 2 1/2 hours of a single workers time and felt like I was receiving personal service despite the store being filled with customers. Seeing this type of customer service is rare and I will definitely be coming to this shop for any of my weapon or personal home security needs. read more

i have always got great service here. i literally had to tell one of the workers today that "im good" because he was so helpful and kept handing me rifle after rifle to get a feel for the action and check trigger pull. after 10+ rifles i felt bad because i had no intention to buy one that day i was just stocking up on ammo and magazines. gun and ammo prices are reasonable. some accessories are priced a little high. I would definitely recommend them to someone to check it out. theres no "one stop gun shop" in hawaii so i always give people a list of my 3 or 4 favorite shops to check out. this one also happens to be the most convenient for me since i live in kaimuki and everything else is a 30+ minute drive (except magnum, but i dont care for their high prices and some of the workers have attitude but one or two were very helpful. read more

There are two firearms shops I do business with Security Equipment & Young Guns: customer service is as I would expect. Employee's go out of their way to Kokua, On more then one occasion employee's from both stores recommended I check out the other when a particular merchandise was not available....plenty Aloha. read more

This is always the first place i go for my security equipment needs. They dont greet you but they do help you if you look interested in something. Once you have your eye on something and you ask them about it, they pull it out of the case and show it to you without asking... unlike some places where they hesitate. Dont know if thats good or bad but im sure they profile if you walk in looking like a criminal or gang member then they'll hesitate on doing something like that. Never now these days right? The service is very friendly and i always like the help of Kanoa. He may be young but he is very knowledgeable and friendly. I like that they dont pressure you at all until you hand them your credit card. I think everything i bought is from that store because of this. Prices are not cheap but not expensive. They appear to have some good deals time to time but you gotta be the first to know about it. They seem to have a good rapport with law enforcement, since ive seen many LEOs in there from time to time, and they even have a small section geared for them. I actually wouldnt be surprised if all the customers in there are off duty or retired law enforcement. Parking is in the back or in the Krazy Karaoke parking lot, believe it or not. read more

These guys are a pleasure to buy from. Great service (guy by the name of Ants is very friendly and helpful). I have also had great service from a couple of other employees. Ammo is pretty reasonable for the island, especially when they are running sales, which they do often. They have a limited selection, especially of targets and other accessories, but it's a small shop, so I don't hold it against them. There is usually street parking or parking behind the building. I've shopped here a few times since moving from the mainland, and while I still have island sticker shock, these guys do right by me. read more

screw these guys...i ordered a gun and waited 2 months for it to come in....it finally arrived and they called asking if i still wanted it...of course i did and they said they would hold it for me...the next day i called to confirm that they still had it on hold so i headed down there....upon arrival i waited 15 minutes only to learn that they sold it already and i would have to wait another 2-3 weeks for another shipment...assholes...they could have told me all of this over the phone and saved me a drive from ewa into town....dont ever do business with these jerks...their customer service sucks. read more
