Here is the main reason(s) for only three stars: Security Public Storage gave me a "move in" / 6 month special for my tiny unit. A reasonable price, and one that has kept me there. In fact, the manager (all of whom are friendly) told me to call back at the end of the 6 months to see what rate they could offer me. Well, besides getting a discount for writing a review on FB and now here on yelp, it seems there are no additional discounts or negotiations their company is willing to offer me to keep me. Do they know that it takes 6x more effort to get a new customer than it does to keep one? Also, even though the original discount was 30% off, the increase back to the "normal" rate is an increase of MORE THAN 40%. Really? Who does that to keep a customer?? So, I am hoping that they will consider keeping me as a customer by making the price of the tiniest of units reasonable (as in honoring the original price I started with) so I can stay. read more

I've been with Security Public Storage for almost a year and have been paying $224 most of those months for a 10 x 22. Sadly, despite their excellent Yelp rating, I had a less than five-star experience. Incident One: About four months ago, I updated my payment information, in person, at the office and elected to continue automatic payments. Later, I incurred a $15 late fee for missing a payment. Owner Bob Sr. and I talked over the phone about the issue. He confirmed that I filled out my paperwork correctly before the payment was due, but one of his employees input my information incorrectly. However, I did NOT receive a refund. I talked with Bob Sr. again over the phone concerning the refund. He said he'd look into it. Nothing happened. I talked with him AGAIN, weeks later, in person. He said he'd look into it...again. Nothing ever happened except the monthly rate went up to $231, so now I've moved to a better facility with drastically cheaper rates. Incident Two: As I was moving out of my unit, Bob Sr. came around asking how long I would take and when I thought I would be out. It was only the 16th, and I was paid up until the 23rd, plus I wrote on my paperwork that my last day would be the 23rd. It felt like a pushy question with the intent of trying to sell my unit before my final move out date. Incident Three: Bob Sr. called and left a message wanting me to call his son back, Bob Jr. I called 50 minutes later and reached Bob Jr. He said he didn't know why I had received a call, but took my cell number and said he'd call me back once he found out more. There was never a call back. Incident four: I suspect my unit was opened by management, before my end date, without my consent for the purpose of seeing if I had moved. Hence the earlier mystery call. I had moved 90% of my belongings out and left my piano and about four boxes for a later trip. I had to take my lock with me for the new unit, leaving my old unit unlocked. This didn't bother me because I knew there were security cameras everywhere. When I left my unit that day, I pushed the pin to the unit door closed. Upon arrival a few days later, the pin was out, suggesting that it had been opened. I cannot confirm this. Pros: *Friendly service. *Great hours. Cons: *Pricey units. *Falsely charged a late fee. *Management has proven to be utterly incompetent. *They do not shred your automatic-payment paperwork after you move out. *No light in the units. Cannot see at night without providing your own light. *Side walls are pressboard and could be easily chewed through by rodents, though I haven't seen any. read more

I have been with storage company for over 5 years. I like that they are open most days except some holidays. The only problem I have with them is that they raise the price every six months to a year even if you are a good customer and pay timely. The staff is great, very curtious and helpful. The corporation on the other hand, has no problem with taking full advantage of customers. My rent in the last two years has been raised four times. I chose this place first off because of the security and price then for location. Now they're so over priced that I am thinking that it would be worth the trouble of loading, moving and unloading a fully packed 10'X10' unit. None of the items in the unit are light. I am not looking forward to the task either. At the same time, I am not going to help some careless, lazy,money hungry chump line his pocket, with the excuse that they're only trying to stay competitive.
