No company should be able to claim they are number one in the industry when they are the only one in the business. A monopoly. This company needs to be investigated for abuses. Impenetrable headquarters, No one can talk to any employees or corporate officials in TX. never!. Called corporate over & over, a security guard answered the phone every time, a cover deflecting calls & I spoke to no official! Abuses by the CEO caused him a lateral move as to avoid issues he implemented. The New CEO was put in place as the old one was getting death threats! & Im sure he warranted them!. not death but to have practices like this company has is a travesty to everyone! well not to executives! In order to set up a one time call accepting there rules and charges Its 33 cents a minute then towards the end of recording they sneak in that there will be a one time charge of 3 dollars!. Never did I hear that before! yes three dollars so not only do they misrepresent themselves as being the best but they extort money charging each call fee of 3 dollars for a "Service fee" & one minute 33 cents each minute! To boot call there listed customer service number a voice like robot? nope as you cant talk to it. well you can but it pretends it cant understand your prompts. this should be e legal if it is not already. Conglomerate monopolies like this company should be investigated! Now changed to a duopoly! so they can continue to defraud customers, employees, shareholders alike. Ive helped my friend- inmate with thousands of dollars in product for 7 years paid to them. but im told I need to figure out what im entering incorrectly?. And no accessing because of my existing account. One person at the central jail a man said they were protecting me so an inmate could not access information? No inmate has access! they can only access a request to call out. I can use my card anywhere!. Also I had to call my credit card to make sure it was valid even though I knew it was. Putting this on me! & Securus being accountable to assist me in getting the issue resolved not an option. So the reasoning made little sense, loosing business & credibility, not rectifying the situation & assuming!. Who runs a company in this manor? That its up to me to fix the issue! For the numerous calls & time it took & no resolve I should get a couple hundred dollar credit right! I lost hours them treating me as if I was a criminal!!! securus just rip me off. i set up a pre paid account for my son so he would be able to talk to his dad. i dont have much money i live on a vary small budget so i have to be careful how my money is being spent so i set this account up out of love for my son of 25.00 i worked it in on my budget the day my sons dad calls they talk he"s happy i',m happy they talk and after awhile the call ends ok things are good. well a week or so goes by and he calls again. cant get the call to connect I'm thinking whats going on. No money on the account. i get aletter in the mail stating i owe them 16.00.how is that possible isnt this pre-pay? yeah it is but securs takes it up on them selves to make the choice on how much your able to afford. pre-pay means thats the amount you choose to spend at that time. securus robed me they took it up on the selves to take money without futher agreement . who are they to make the choice on how much someones able to spend. i agreed to amout i was able to afford i did not agree to no more then that. I called securus to talk about this and i was talked to like it didn't matter what was said they just did want to hear it and wasn't going to do nothing but refuse to return monies they took without my permission. so basically i feel they extorted from me. securus tryed to turn it around to make me feel like they where doing me a favor by allowing my so to talk over the time i pre-payed for. I would like to express my disappointment with the quality of service provided by Securus Technologies. First and foremost, the phone call quality is extremely poor. Just because someone is incarcerated does not mean they or their families should have to endure low-quality connections. These calls, messages, and photos are not free, we are paying customers, and our loved ones mean everything to us. If we are paying for a service, we should receive the best possible quality in return. Inmates should receive their messages and photos in a timely manner, without unnecessary delays. Additionally, the customer service experience has been unacceptable. While I did speak with one helpful representative months ago, my most recent experiences have been frustrating and unprofessional. Two separate representatives hung up on me, even though I remained calm and respectful. If a customer requests to speak with a supervisor or manager, that request should be honored, especially when the representative is unable to resolve the issue. Instead, I was told outright that a manager "wouldn't be able to help me," which is unacceptable. That decision is for the manager to make, not the representative. Not only was my issue left unresolved, but the level of disrespect from customer service was unacceptable. I regret not getting the names of the individuals I spoke with, as I would have reported them directly. Securus Technologies needs to implement better training for its customer service representatives to ensure they handle concerns professionally and respectfully. Families of incarcerated individuals already face enough challenges. The least Securus Technologies can do is provide the quality service we are paying for. read more

Where is the ZERO RATING? This company totally disgusts me in the way they are vultures in the manner they make their money. I now have a loved one in jail and have always known the disparity and "raping" of white corporations and the less fortunate. you're better off just finding a differnet company that allows u voice calls, the video calls although they allow u to see ur inmate, its totally not worth it. ive scheduled and paid for 3 visits and only 1 went through and he couldnt even see me, and his end he heard an echo on his end. i electronically sent in (not fax) through their website and wouldnt you know they have no record of my incident reports.. apparently you have to fax them in to be relevant or even be seen by them. 1st and 3rd visit they said I MISSED THE VISIT BULLSH*T i was logged in about 20 minutes b4 our visit and the because no one told me when u press the "green start" button and dont see a video monitor pop up right away to call them IT WAS MY FAULT EVEN THOUGH I WAS LOGGED IN and no where did i read or was i informed to call them right away im better off spending the fee to add money to a different company for calls. i hightly DO NOT RECOMMMEND THEIR SERVICE TO RICHEST OF THE RICH OR THE POOREST OF THE POOR u call their numbers they send u the website, the live chat sends u right back to calling them. rude pices of crap i referred to them as 1800 numbers and chick said we dont have 1800 numbers its `1877 just awesome customer serivice, being rude through a monitor in a different state. yourr company quick to take money but slow to respond. i hate that i spent my hard earned money on your company instead i could have put it on his books and he coulda have eaten better that week thanks, thanks alot for taking my money and making things harder, you guys are awesome M***ERF***INNG NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Spent a week trying to set up an online visit. I was cut off twice just trying to get tech support. I had to download a bunch of Java stuff, and change to Google Chrome browser because they use an antiquated 32 bit system. Whenever their system screwed up they tried to lay it off on me. I've got a friend whose daughter is incarcerated at the Marion Country, Fl. County jail. She's got a 6 year old son who wants to see his mommy, so I wanted to set up this online visit so he wouldn't be subjected to the jailhouse environment. I submitted a complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture's consumer affairs division and told them that Securus should be ordered to revamp their system so that it's user friendly or cancel their contract. I also stated that I suspect that the inmate's civil rights might be being violated by having their visitations obstructed. I sent a similar complaint to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. I'm not holding my breath for a positive response from them. Our illustrious governor is the same turd that headed HCA, the corporation that committed several hundreds of millions of dollars of fraud on medicare. If anybody should be sitting in stir it should be that mutt. Only in Florida! I've got the time and resources to pursue this but I'm only one voice. If I could give zero stars I would. These people are the lowest of the low. They have contracted with state governments to allow them to charge outrageous "connect" fees. In California, it costs a minimum of 3 dollars to connect a phone call. They claim this is because security is expensive. Unfortunately, they are lying through their teeth. In other states, like Washington, there is no "connection fee" because it has been outlawed by the state. There may very well be money changing hands between this company and the persons at the utilities commissions that set these charges for inmate calling. Rick Smith, the CEO of this company, is a spineless snake taking advantage of the people in the worst possible situations. What's worse is that our own government is allowing him to do so. Their business should be shut down. They're horrible. Their technology is horrible. Their ability to resolve issues is horrible. I do NOT understand how they stay in business, but there are few competitors as many of them have been acquired by Securus. They have a system issue preventing recognition by their system of call acceptance by the callee. Families are desperate to talk to their loved ones under dire circumstances in the best of scenarios. Add COVID and all other downstream impacts, in person visitation has been cancelled until further notice. That leaves only texting, voice or video call servcices. I have yet to try a text or video call as our little jail just handed out tablets last week. There have been many challenges already with connectivity. Why is this company not being investigated by the Federal or Texas State governments? Oh...that's right. It's because they provide services to incarcerated individuals and their families. Securus Tech is a tangled monopoly and they apparently do not care about service to the offenders at all. Their systems to call out have been down for over a week. They came on for one day. This is not an isolated case by the experience of many of the offenders at the Larry Gist Unit. I have called and spoken to staff that addresses taking complaints about the service. The staff if outstanding and say that their supervisor will work on it. The supervisors do nothing and go home early. In my opinion, we need to open up this monopoly to competition that can replace Securus OLD technology and serve the public in a better way. We have clearly identified that it is a Securus issue, not an issue on the receiving parties end. So what do we do, just sit around when we have critical issues going on and MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, the lazy supervisors will do something. This is really unacceptable. I have a son at one facility in Illinois and I have a nephew at another facility in Illinois my daughter-in-law put money on my sons phone account, but my number is approved on both inmates call list, but my nephew uses all of my sons money to call me and other family members. So I called Securus and ask them if they could separate the accounts so the funds my sons wfie puts on his account cant be used by him. They basically told me No its to bad and the nephew could continue to use the funds or anyone who has this number added to they list could call me. If I block the number I block my son. Do not use Securus. They are the worse ever under what is already a frustrating situation. They will charge you a 10.00 set up fee then and additional 14.94 for what amounts to 8 to 10 minutes...maybe. and when you want to add minutes again the fees start over....so that's another 10.00 if you choose to do it on the phone or 7.95 if you do it on line. This company definitely takes advantage of you. You are better off trying to get funds to the inmate where they can purchased phone cards at their facility and then they can call you directly no need to call you collect or look into the google voice route. DO NOT USE SECURUS. what they are doing amounts to extortion and should be illegal!!!!! And because I find them utterly criminal, I wouldn't dare use my credit card with them online or over the phone, just wouldn't trust them with such sensitive information which is shame. read more

Horrible company!! I have had to deal with them for 8 years while my son has been incarcerate. because of inactivity they have closed and blocked my account 4 different times. They have taken my account balance away every time and I've had to raise hell just to get MY MONEY back. First 3 times they were able to do it immediately now it's been a week without reimbursement of my account I've raised hell every day with them and they said it will be another week. This is a pathetic joke of a company!! Very unprofessional, un organized and deceitful!! they are just wishing I will forget about my account balance and give them more money Screw them!
