We all loved the food, the staff were friendly and very polite. Breakfast: we used the breakfast buffet. Even though it was relatively expensive ($30 per person) we really liked it. Their latte is awful and tastes like instant coffee, the omelette was great, the fruit selection is fantastic. Their juices other than orange juice don't seem to be natural. The staff are nice, well trained, respectful and smiling. The go beyond their job description to make you feel welcomed. Their salmon and gravlax was also fantastic. We had $50 credit from the resort which we can use it for dinner. At check out the server told use we cannot charge it to the room and they will only take credit card or cash. At the time, we were confused since it was our first time dealing with resort credit. So we paid with our credit card. After, we went back to the check-in desk and was told we can charge to our room no problem. We had to walk all the way back to the restaurant for them to process the refund. The manager's great attitude was the only reason why I gave them a 2star. Btw, the food it's not great for the price. We had the Mexican buffet, 520peso per person, about $32 per person at the time. And don't expect any seafood with the buffet, although we are right by the ocean. read more

This restaurant at the J.W. Marriott is their main restaurant open for all three meals beginning with a breakfast buffet. I didn't imagine they could change up their kitchen 3 times a day and keep the quality up, so I presumed this would be a very average experience. Surprise! First they asked if we had reservations! Quite surprised at that request, but we only had to wait 15 minutes. The atmosphere was delightful, full but not loud. Service was very attentive. Menu was very upscale and mostly seafood. My husband ordered a pork tenderloin however, which was delicious an I ordered lobster with a red beet risotto. Absolutely delightful. I added a by the glass Malbec that was perfect. The breakfast is a little pricey but everything was delicious. My favorite was the lady cooking omellets and the chilaquiles. The staff is very, very attentive, they help you with your plates and are very respectful. In general the service in all the hotel is superb. For a restaurant in the JW Marriott, this was a disappointment. The service was very good, and the view spectacular, but the food was average, at best. This is considered an upscale 4* resort, yet this meal was nothing to be proud of. My wife had the black bean soup, which was over puréed. I had the shrimp tacos which came almost naked on the plate. Everything was excellent from beginning to end. The service was exceptional. The food was wonderful as well. I got the veal and my son got the lamb. They were both cooked perfectly. Breakfast buffet was ~$50 for 2. The service was great and the buffet looks amazing but the taste of the food was just meh. Seems like a place where most of the food was once frozen and not fresh kinda like all those amazing looking desserts at a cheap buffet that are always always disappointing. I might be too harsh but for $25 in Mexico at high end hotel??? Gotta give it 3 or 3.5 at best. Juices variety and chocolate covered churros bumped it up to 3.5. read more

My family and I have eaten here a few times while staying here at the Hotel. First night we had dinner there and the food was delicious. The staff was very accommodating. My youngest child really didn't like anything on the menu so we asked if they could possibly make fajitas. Yes they could and did ! The staff also asked if we were celebrating any occasion. We were it was my Birthday that day and I wanted to eat there . I love there margaritas and wanted one of theirs for my Birthday! The ambiance is really nice and the servers are AMAZINGLY NICE. So my favorite waiter who kept serving us was Edgar. I noticed they change up there menu items for you and your liking. I'm vegan and can't eat much. The first time I came here I ate the antioxidant salad with jicama, blackberries, and a pomegranate dressing. The second time we came here Edgar told me I could actually have vegan enchiladas! They served them with zucchini, onion, tomato, and bell pepper on the inside with a really good tomato sauce. They were super yummy and I was very impressed with the flavor. Our waiter also told me the next time I'd come he would give me more vegan options! I was so impressed by this. They also make the BEST tamarindo margaritas I've ever had here. Way better than the margarita bar down the hall. read more

I stayed at the JW Marriott, so we ended up eating here twice. Dinner was just okay, with service not being great and prices being a bit high. Our server was friendly, but after he took our food order, we didn't see him again until we needed our bill. Our food was delivered by other people and nobody ever checked with us to see how things were. If they had, we would have let them know that our main courses arrived within about 1-2 minutes of our appetizer. The main dish ended up getting cold while we were eating the appetizer. I told our server at the end, so he'd know. He said he would be sure to talk to the kitchen about it and apologized, but that was it. After we arrived at the restaurant, a large (maybe 10 people) group of people showed up, and they were given LOADS of attention. At multiple times, I looked up to see 2-3 people (including the chef, who came out personally to shake hands and greet everyone) serving this table. It was disappointing that they didn't give as much attention to their smaller tables. We ate here one morning for the breakfast buffet, too. It seems very expensive ($25 per person) for breakfast. It's a nice buffet, but in my opinion the price should be about $18. You simply cannot eat enough breakfast foods to ever make this seem like a good deal. We likely won't go back here if we return to the JW Marriott. read more

This is inside the JW Marriott which we stayed and we end up ate here twice. First time orders 4 different dishes with chicken, fish (salmon I think), pork, pasta etc with 2 appetizers. Oyster was really good and fresh. All food came up pretty good. We sat at table outside. At around 8pm in December, it was somewhat warm and humid but it was nice. 2nd time we tried their Mexican buffet and it was so-so. But overall this is a decent place. read more

I can only review the breakfast buffet. It is OUT OF THIS WORLD. They have everything you can think of available and it is all incredible. They have Asian offerings as well as American and Mexican. There are half a dozen fresh juices available and coffee. The service is off the charts, we requested Ricardo Rodriguez each morning. The sweetest person we came across. He helped us carry our plates to our table and chatted with us at length each morning. He went above and beyond. They have an omelet station and I noticed that they would also do any kind of egg you wanted. Love that they serve breakfast until 11:30 as well. I was here a couple of times since i stayed at the JW Marriott. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bread that you start with is to die for!! Both our appetizers (king crab and tuna tartar) were amazing. We got the short ribs and tuna fish as entrees and neither of them disappointed us. I have only been to this restaurant for the brunch buffet, and it is abundant,fresh and well maintained. The dishes are the usual suspects of brunch,eggs, bacon,French toast,etc They also have Mexican specialties,raw and smoked fish,a few appetizer type offerings and more,as well as a beautiful selection of tropical fruit juices. Traveled there this month and my friend and I both got food poisoning from this restaurant-- The first night my friend had a shrimp ceviche and she had a very mild case of food poisoning-- 2 nights later we go back and I had the shrimp cocktail-- BIG MISTAKE!! The breakfast buffet was excellent with great choices including custom made omelets. Prices are higher than the average Cancun restaurant but not bad considering this is in the resort area in a high end resort. I can't say enough good things about one of our servers, David. I went to the Sedona grill expecting a buffet but when I got was good maybe even better. I took a taste of the grouper, it was delectable. I got the beef filet and I took a taste is very good for best potatoes were delicious. My friend got stuffed poblano I took a taste, was delicious. My brother got the chicken and rice it was also good. Excellent service and a nice location I recommended for families and people just trying to go out at a hotel. PS also there is an amazing view of the beach where there are a lot of birds around so if you have a phobia of birds stay away from this restaurant.
