We don't write this review lightly as we were regular customers of See and Be Seen.  We have always trusted them with our daughter's glasses since she was in Grade 2 (now 6).  Their service had always been great helping our daughter pick out glasses that suited her and making sure she felt comfortable in what she was wearing.  The price point was always higher than what we wanted to pay but we didn't let that bother us cause she would be a glasses/contact wearer the rest of her life so we wanted to make sure she was somewhere that made her comfortable. Unfortunately our recent experience is one that will ensure was our last visit to this establishment.  Our daughter, for the first time, snapped her glasses in half at the bridge.  We rushed to See and Be Seen Liberty Village to sort out a new pair for her.  They fit her quickly with a new pair of glasses for almost $900 and told us that they would typically be ready in 7-10 days but that they would put a rush on it so hopefully it would arrive earlier.  Seven days later we reached out to the store to find out if they would be arriving soon only to be told that they were still in the lab.  We were assured that someone at See and Be Seen would follow up with the lab because there was a rush on the order and provide us an update but worst case it would arrive early the following week.  We never heard back. On day 11 (early the following week) we still had not heard anything about the glasses so we decided to follow up.  Again we were told the order was still with the lab and there was no update.  This is when we realized no one had originally done the follow up.  At this point we escalated the issue and were told that they would follow up with the lab to ensure there is a rush on the order and get an estimate on when they would be delivered.  We requested a refund and was told the Director would need to address this.    When speaking with the Director we were told no refund could be done as the lenses had already been ordered and that the original timeline was 7-10 business days but could be as long as 10-14 business days.  We reiterated what we were told in store but was told repeatedly that would be impossible as their staff are all trained on business days. We asked to speak to the owner of the store and to this day have not heard back from them.  Our biggest issue is the lack of accountability from all parties involved.  My wife, daughter and I all heard 7-10 days but apparently that would be entirely impossible from their perspective.  To top this all off their best advice was for us to buy another pair of glasses (with a free lenses offer) for situations like this.  I'm not sure how many people can afford a $500 pair of glasses as a back up.  We finally received the glasses on day 13 after they had finally followed up with the lab.  I'm sure other people have had great experiences with them as we also had in the past.  But this last experience has certainly been the most ridiculous for us and will be the last time we purchase from this establishment. read more

I could not recommend See & Be Seen Eyecare any higher! Their doctors, front of house staff and glasses selection are all absolutely top notch. In the five or so years that I have been a client, I have seriously put them through the wringer (waiting too long to reorder contacts despite desperately needing them for upcoming plans - the worst!, being a bit of a Cinderella about my contacts and coming in for multiple fittings, you name it) and they have never been anything but helpful and kind--on top of nailing every challenging request I have given them. They clearly care about their customers (and their glasses--they have a excellent buyer who is clearly passionate about what she does and will help you find the right pair of glasses or sunglasses for your face in store or will order you anything you find out of store!). One of the nicest eye care businesses I've been to! The receptionist was very nice and friendly, felt like we've been friends for years! Dr. Patel is VERY thorough and really helps you get the most out of appointment, down to explaining every little detail. He takes his time and is very friendly! The interior is also amazing! Lots of space, coffee corner (they even have sour keys!), and a really cool little water painting station at the reception desk. That coupled with great interior design and modern furniture - A+. TLDR: I chose See & Be Seen Eyecare because of the glorious reviews. Everything you read is not an exaggeration. I believe they are have the best optometrists, staff and environment for your eye care. I drive 30 minutes to see them. Go see them, you won't be disappointed. TL: This was my second appointment with See & Be Seen Eyecare. My first eye exam was with Dr. Yang. He was so patient, kind and caring. He explained everything, and made sure I did not have any questions unanswered. He also discovered I needed surgery and referred me to the top ophthalmologist to perform the surgery. As I needed surgery, he also didn't push me to buy new glasses. Needless to say, all these factrors led me to return after my surgery. Recently, I went for my second eye exam (new prescription after surgery) with Dr.Patel and the experience was perfect. Dr. Patel is patient, kind, caring and friendly. He doesn't make you feel rushed in anyway and he also explains everything he's doing. He too makes sure you don't have any questions unanswered. He is so easy to talk to. I also have to give a shoutout to Kyle. He helped perform some tests and helped me pick out new frames. He is so patient and has a great skill and knowledge of matching your face to the right frames. I have been to both locations (one for the consultation and the second one for frame selection). I should not have believed all the positive reviews. A complete waste of time and $200 spent on a consultation from people with zero accountability and who try to upsell you any chance they get Needless to say I will go elsewhere and pay again to have a second eye exam from a trustworthy optician who actually cares about their patients and respects their time and eye health. I simply cannot trust the first exam is accurate given all the other aspects of the patient/client experience at those two places. Short summary: -Bogus but stylish consult -Tons of upselling, -No comprehensive set of recommendations (being a first-time glasses shopper I would have liked some intelligent options but once I showed I was open to the more expensive ranges, there was no turning back and better, much more suitable solutions for me were not even brought up. -A big push on what extensive research proved would be a horrible, yet most-profitable-for-them, solution for my profile -Promises broken, no follow-through despite 4 follow ups to both the clinic and clinic owner over a 2 week period - Never gotten introduced to the specialist I was supposed to contact the next day for what could potentially be an urgent matter. The people who sell the lenses do not know the difference between the lense types they sell and try to make you feel stupid for asking questions they do not know the answers to... I was literally told "the difference between option A, B and C is that A is less expensive than B and B is less than C followed by "It's like designer jeans so you have to pay more for the nicer ones". But they're unable to explain what the nicer ones do differently... besides costing more. And that was from the product specialist. read more

The last time I had my eyes checked was prob over 3/4 yrs ago and from what I remember about my previous eye exam (really not much) was that it was a very boring, 10 mins in and out experience. Well, after finishing my very thorough eye exam here - I was left more educated about my eyes than ever before. Please note, Dr Patel is very detailed and will spend the time he needs to ensure your optimal vision /experience. I think I was in there for an hour, thinking my apptmnt slot was only15 mins! I didn't feel rushed at all and all the staff were very friendly. They get to know you, your style /needs very well. I'll be back to grab another pair of frames soon! See & Be Seen only had one review here on Yelp, but it was very positive and touched upon a lot of the points that I was looking for, so thank you Yelper, Amanda M. for the helpful review. Another determining factor was the convenience of the location relative my home. My experience was just as wonderful as that which was described in Amanda's well-written review. I had requested an appointment on their website on a Friday morning for the next day and a few hours later got a call back from Janine, the Patient Communications Coordinator. I was surprised to hear that they could accommodate me on such short notice. She emailed me the intake forms that evening so that I could have them already filled in when I got there. Like the previous reviewer, as I walked in I was treated like an old friend by Janine, I was quickly introduced to Zeyadh, the Optician and offered a coffee. The interior of their space is beautiful. They have a chandelier of glasses and beautiful artwork. you call tell their attention to detail by their phone number (2020, get it?). Janine did a pre-test on my eyes, then it was on to Dr. Patel, who is very personable, accommodating and thorough. After seeing Dr. Patel, Zeyadh did an amazing job of helping find the right frames for me. I was thankful for his help because I wouldn't have known where to start. He helped me decide on frames which suit the shape of my face and a colour which accentuates the colour of my eyes. So we checked the place on Yelp and found really positive review my husband and i and decided to go check the place out. We just called in and took an appointment; once there the team was really helpful, smiley and welcoming, it was a joy being around such a happy and cheerful team that stay with you from the moment you go in to the moment you go out. So my husband and i went in to see Dr. Patel (who was also super welcoming and a delight to deal with). Dr Patel stayed with us more than the scheduled appointment to make sure we got the proper exam and proper care, he was very informative, extremely understanding that i am not a doctor and need to understand all details in "simple English" :) really enjoyed dealing with him. After the eye exam, we left Dr. Patel and joined his team of professional (super friendly and cheerful team). Jacky took care of helping me pick my glasses, select the perfect lens and also took care of financial. Really he was super helpful and friendly. This place is an example of a perfect business model where the customer is pampered and satisfied from the time they go in to the time they go out. Really enjoyed the experience and i will definitely be around soon to thank them again and again. One last thing, the frame i picked had to be shipped from Italy which should have taken from 3-4 weeks however the team made sure it took less than 10 day and expedited the process. I just want to start by saying that my husband was JEALOUS when I told him about my appointment. His optometrist is not as awesome. The staff here are wonderful and friendly. From Danielle at the front desk to Jeanine (sorry if I misspelled) guiding you through the process to Dr. Patel, everything is on point. The space is absolutely beautiful and I love that they offer you something to drink and sour keys! The real reason I booked here was Yelp reviews + they take online appointments. I have really bad cellphone reception so the fact they were willing to communicate with me via email was just wonderful. Jeanine is awesome and feels like an old friend right off the bat. She helped me pick out the perfect frames for me (and I don't even need glasses) and took me through the initial process of checking my eyes. She was so enthusiastic about eye education and gave me so much information about eyes in general. She even stepped up to the challenge of finding me the perfect aviators since I told her I thought they wouldn't work on my face. Dr. Patel was awesome as well. I've never met a doctor quite like him. He was well spoken, friendly and communicative. He talked me through the process, showed me the pictures of my eyeballs and even told me about a scar on my eye that my last optometrist never mentioned! Cody helped me pick out the perfect frames, and I tried on a *lot* of pairs. He was extremely patient, and great with feedback. The whole experience was fantastic, and I'm honestly looking forward to the time when my benefits renew and I can go back for contact lenses or prescription sunglasses. Be aware of the range of prices! Go to See & Be Seen. Experience their coffee, goodies, great service, and the exceptional quality of their glasses. Pick a few you like. Get a quote, but DO NOT LEAVE YOUR NAME WITH THEM. Do not make a file! LEAVE, THEN COME BACK ANOTHER DAY, another time, and get another quote from a different salesperson. You will get a different number. Ideally, leave and come back a third day. At least once make sure you tell them about your budget and/or insurance plan BEFORE you get the quote. When I got quotes, the prices VARIED BY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS depending on the person I talked to. Their customer service is great on the surface, but if you play this game, you can possibly save a good deal of money. When you are buying their products, some of which are very expensive and may be more than your insurance will pay, saving a few hundred dollars is nice! Love my glasses now. Girlfriend loves hers. I appreciated that Dr. Patel took the time to explain to me what he was doing every step of the way, during the examination, and that his goal is to ensure optimal eye health not just today, but in the years to come. The office buzzes with energy and is very busy, but extremely efficient. Dr. Patel saw me on time and ensured that I left quickly, as I had indicated that I was on a tight schedule that day. Kinnard Chan the optician is the James Bond of eyeware---razor efficiency, perfect execution and effortlessly stylish. Dr. Patel gave me a meticulous exam and took time to explain everything and actually asked "Any questions?" and meant it...how often does a doctor actually do that!! Got prescription Ray Ban sunglasses made with warm honey tint so the world looks like a happier place like a sepia toned flashback in a Hollywood movie, but added the bad-ass blue mirrored rock star finish. They sent my glasses to their lab at Zeiss for 2 pairs of glasses as well and it makes my last year's One Hour Optical lenses seem like the slumpy kid in gym class who got picked lasts for sports teams. (I didn't realize those places pick your lenses from a pile of closest pre-sets, like buying off the rack rather than tailor made couture). Kinnard also did a whole bunch of measurements for fitting that I've never had done at any other optician. And definitely get the anti-reflective glass, it feels like THERE'S NOTHING in front of your eyes. Astounding. These folks are the real deal and they're not just professional and uber quality they're actually stupifyingly nice as well. They even mailed my frames to San Francisco for me since it's so much cheaper getting eyeware done in Canada than in the US. My sister has been having an Incredible Hulk rage-inducing string of ever worsening screwups from Hakim and she wishes she Yelped before going there, so I learned from her mistake. See and Be Seen is like the Maserati of eye care except without the exorbitant price tag. No wonder they have a jillion five star reviews to which I'm happy to add this one. read more

Bought a pair of glasses from this store and the quality of the lenses is absolutely horrendous. They're smudged every 2 hours. I feel like I'm constantly cleaning them. I've worn glasses for the last 5 years and have never experienced smudged lenses to this extent. I dealt with Kyle and he seemed indifferent to my concerns. His answer was to buy the pricier lens after convincing me these lenses would 'do the job'. Unfortunately, they have a no-return/no-refund policy (so the consumer can't get out their low-quality products). First and last time I buy from this place. I have gotten two pairs of the glasses from See & Be Seen and the service is always excellent. Today I felt this was proved again. The pair of glasses I purchased well over a year ago were in rough shape, and a part had broken off. This was purely as result of carelessness from myself, rather than the quality of the product. I took them in and Megan was able to make them as if they were brand new. I was expecting to pay for this, since they were 1+ years old but they fixed them no questions asked, and no fee. People should know that negative reviews are deleted from this website. I will try to post again. I came to this place based on so many good online reviews, but now I understand that reviews are not always objective and real. I think it is important for people to know about the terrible experience I had with See and be Seen staff. I had my eye check up by optometrist Faran Vafaie last year. His prescription for my reading glasses was a big jump up in numbers compared to my current reading glasses. Even though they were pushing me to order the glasses from them, I didn't, as I was reading completely comfortable with my old glasses. Only resently, in order to have spare glasses I ordered 2 new pairs from Costco. I started to have headaches, nausea, dizziness after I started to use them. I talked to one of the optometrists from my workplace, he told me the reason of my headaches is a strong prescription, which is unusually high for my age and he suggested to talk to optometrist who prescribed the glasses. I called to See and be Seen office with hope to talk to Faran Vafaie, clerk told me doctor will call me when he returns to office. I waited a week, but he didn't return my call. I called again, this time the front desk person told me I have headaches because my prescription was expired several days ago and in order to talk to doctor I have to pay 65$, otherwise he will not talk to me or see me. I decided to visit them personally. They didn't have any customer at that time other than me, dr. Vafaie's door was open, dr. Patel was walking around, they both could hear me telling a front desk person that I just need to talk to doctor, but after several times she entered to dr. Vafaie's room with my glasses she came back with refusal and told me the only way I can talk to him if I pay 65$. Both doctors could hear that I am very concerned and upset, but zero reaction, dr. Vafaie was sitting in his room, dr. Patel who was out didn't even approach me to ask why I am upset, complete indifference, only front desk person was repeating like a robot the same thing over and over. I entered to dr. Vafaie's room, the door was open, he asked me who am I? I introduced myself, he said he doesn't know anything about me. Only then Dr. Patel came to ask his collegue if he is OK, not caring about how is their customer. After I explained my condition with multiple interruptions, dr. Vafaie's told me I am waisting his time and in order him to unswer to my question why I am having headaches he has to do another eye check up, because most probably my vision has changed. But he will do it only after I pay 65$. I told him I am a medical professional and I am aware that presbyopia (problem seeing close distances) can only progress with age, never decrease, and even if my reading prescription has changed over last year, (according to dr. Faran), it could only progress, and weaker reading glasses wouldn't cause headaches. I told him he has to take a responsibility for his wrong prescriptions. But he wasn't able to have any logical conversation, he left the room, after he talked to Dr. Patel he returned and asked me to leave their office or they will call police. I left, but before writing this review I decided to have my eyes checked somewhere else in order to be thruthful and fair in my review. The new prescription proved that dr. Faran gave me wrong prescription, extra strong for my age. And there were no any other changes in my vision, other than small increase for my reading glasses from +1.5 to 1.75 now. That is why + 2.25 reading glasses were causing all thos symptoms that I was suffering for a week. Dr. Vafaie is not only incompetent optometrist, he doesn't care about his patients, he doesn't have manners and communication skills every health care professional must have. He is refusing to be accountable for his professional mistakes. All this happened by the knowledge and allowance of Dr. Patel, who didn't care about customer service, patient care and safety of their patient's health. The only thing they care is money. We brought our 2 young daughters here for their first optical appointment with Dr. Yang and we could not be happier with the service and the staff here. My husband did some searching online to find a place closer to home for them and based on the great reviews we went with See & Be Seen and were thrilled to see it lived up to all the great reviews. The girls were concerned about going and the likelihood of needing glasses. Dr. Yang made them feel comfortable - explained things in a way they understood and also involved us as parents in the appointment - he was very thorough! I was also looking for glasses for myself and had a prescription from my optometrist. Dr. Yang checked my prescription and took the time to explain my options to me in terms of getting progressives vs computer glasses. I had my first EVER eye exam at See & Be Seen Eyecare last month. To be honest I didn't ever think I needed to get my eyes examined since I haven't had any issues to date with my eyesight. Little did I know how important a routine eye exam was for my overall health maintenance and even more so since I have a family history of eye disease. I was able to scheduled a comprehensive eye exam with Dr Ritesh Patel and was immediately impressed with how relaxing and calming the environment was. Who knew you could get a professional eye exam done with soulful beats playing in the background?! What was even more impressive though, was Dr. Patel's thorough and detailed explanations of my eyes and vision. His simple analogies, concrete models, and digital imaging really helped me to understand my vision from a lay persons perspective. On a personal note, Dr. Patel was instrumental in treating my father who had been suffering from various vision impairments and diseases for some time. Not only was he able to diagnose, treat and refer my father (which significantly improved not only his vision, but also his quality of life), he ensured a continuation care by following up routinely on his progress. I don't think there is anyone else I would have trusted with my father's care. I found the staff at See & Be Seen professional and courteous! I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Janine and Rosie while I waited for my dad during his appointments. I especially liked Zey's 'eye for style' as he was of great assistance in helping me pick out a new pair of shades. NOTE: this place has BEST variety of eyewear in the city, carrying a number of exclusive lines you won't find anywhere else! See & Be Seen Eyecare exceeded my expectations and has definitely changed the way I look at medical examinations!
