Yes, yes, yes. I had a Groupon and used it in the last possible week I could -- we went in on a Monday morning and my friend and I both left with glasses that we love. Katie helped us both and she is awesome. We were told it would take 10 or 14 days until the glasses were ready (I forget exactly) and they were done a week later. I ran in and grabbed them as soon as I could. I wore them to a family reunion a week ago and all of my cousins and aunts were asking to try on my glasses and everyone looked awesome in them - here I thought I was special! I purchased glasses two weeks ago and I've been waiting for the call to say that they've come in. My credit card has been charged. The customer service was great (echoing other reviewers) but I'm very disappointed with the follow up. I just called and I was told that they were "waiting on my prescription". What ?! No, I walked in with my prescription, had a long conversation about it, and she photocopied it. Why wasn't I called? Why did I have to find out when I called to find out when they were going to be ready? I'm sorry, but for a very pricey pair of glasses, that is not acceptable. I'm not sure what the resolution will be or when I'll get my glasses but I am very disappointed and I will not return. read more

They saved my life. TWICE. They fixed my glasses which weren't even purchased there. My toddler daughter managed to rip the plastic nose piece off the frame. I ordered many replacement online, trekked door to door around all the optical shops big and small in Brookline, NO LUCK. Then on one snowy day, we happened to park the car in front of the shop and took a chance. Not only did they have the replacement that fit, the service was quick and courteous. That was several months ago. Same thing happened again and I found myself at their shop a few minutes before they close Sunday afternoon. She was definitely more dedicated than I'd be. I was afraid she wouldn't bother to take a look and just say they didn't have the replacement. Instead, she took my glasses back to the workstation and within minutes they were fixed with brand new nose pad. I am amazed at the quality of their customer service. I originally wrote a review about the Newbury Street location, because that's where I picked out my frames, then they offered to send it to the Harvard Square location for pick-up. The Harvard Square location really completed the whole glasses-buying experience for me. The two staff members in that day had one other customer when I walked in, but quickly came to my assistance and found my pair. They had sent an email after calling me and finding that my voicemail was full. I had also brought in an old pair of glasses that needed tightening. I tried on and they adjusted the glasses for me 4-5 times each until they were perfect. We had a delightful and fun conversation as well, which made for a really pleasant experience on the rainy weekday evening. Before you book your appointment for Cheapcrafters, give SEE a look-see. Because you know you're just going to get hustled through another corporate block o' time at Cheapcrafters. And then, in order to get the sale frames, you'll be limited to the four pairs that all wax true of 80s child molester. So this time, why don't you try SEE? Most of their frames are under $300 and that includes the price of your prescription lenses. They will charge you extra for the non-protective coating, but in my family's collective experience (we being a family of four-eyes), their lenses last way longer than ol' Cheapcrafters. My recent experience at the Harvard Sq. location (chosen b/c the Newbury St. location is not v. stroller-friendly) netted me 1 pair of specs for $279 and a pair of prescription sunglasses for basically fricken free. I'm thrilled with my glasses, although I had to come back to be sure as the staffers were helpful but I needs my space to make such decisions, n'ah mean? The Harvard Square location could be a little understaffed, to note, and considering how busy they will be with this choice location, I hope they do amp up their employee headcount. For me, SEE is the Holy Grail. I've spent twice as much money on boring designer frames over the last ten years, so finding a place that cares about 1) what you're looking for 2) what looks good on you and 3) what is comfortable, is PRICELESS. Also priceless is the amazing selection of beautiful, interesting glasses that garner tons of complements and inquiries wherever you go. Especially priceless is Miss Katie; who I will stop by and see whenever I walk by because she is such a delight. Katie is such an institution in my family that she asks about each of us when the other stops in. It's a rare and telling relationship with a store manager when you have inside jokes with each other that prompt you to yell out things when leaving the store. (I myself am guilty of pulling a Costanza and knocking over a shelf of glasses on my way out!) I wish more cities could enjoy the amazing design, exceptional customer service and personal care that SEE provides me and my favorite people. read more

After spending several frustrating days looking a new set of specs that looked good on me, were reasonably priced, and were unique and stylish, I stumbled upon SEE in Harvard Square, just as they were closing up. It turns out that they were just what I was looking for. SEE is a chain of fashion eye wear houses that tap top eye wear designers from around the globe directly, giving them a huge selection for prices that I honestly couldn't believe -- and that also included my prescription. I was assisted by their staff who, even after closing, told me to take my time, sat me down, and presented me with option after option that looked great. Purchased glasses there two years ago - and my optometrist warned me not to have them make my lenses. I have progressive lenses, and they were not centered correctly. Had to be sent back and redone. Then, the protective coating began to come off and I couldn't see well through the right lens. The final straw was when one of the arms broke off the day before Thanksgiving. Unrepairable. In the past I have worn glasses for years. Their quality was poor, their lenses were poor, and they would give me no discount on a new pair at all. Poor craftsmanship and poor customer service. So far I've had a really great experience with SEE. My glasses won't be in for another week, so I'll have to update more later! I walked in and was greeted by a super friendly face. She asked me questions about what I was looking for and sent me on my way to explore the store with my little box to put the glasses that I liked in. Another gumdrop of a girl came over to help me as well (I was the only one in there). She was super helpful flitting around giving me frames that she thought would look good on my face. I really appreciated the help, but for a little while I wished I could have explored on my own for a bit longer. No biggie though, like I said they were both really nice. I LOVE the frames that I settled on. Their selection is stellar - they have all the funky frames that I wish Lens Crafters had. The checkout process was easy, and as I expected the total was really expensive, almost $500 and I didn't even get an eye exam. I wish the receipt had broken down the price more, but I also didn't ask so I can't complain. If you are looking for cool frames, this is your place. To be honest, I'm one of those customers about whom - as a store manager - i might say "Oh good grief! Can you PLUHEEZE never let that woman in the door again?" I am admittedly high maintenance when it comes to service and quality expectations... AND, I will go great distances for both. Luckily, I only had to go to Harvard Square to receive the highest customer care and customized product around; SEE eyewear has exceeded all of my expectations on both fronts, and leaves me with expanded faith in the conscious consumerism movement. Whatever you end up paying at SEE - and there is a range you can work with - it's worth it. I went in with a prescription for progressive lenses, which turned out not really to be what I needed. Not only did they extend the exchange time, because I could not see my doctor soon enough for a new prescription, they also helped me get exactly the right fix for the solution I was seeking, which ended up being two pairs of glasses: one for the computer and one for a specific 16" distance need for work. Rob, the current store manager, could not have been more helpful, supportive, and friendly. I went in embarrassed, asking for what i imagined was an unusual change - and i left feeling completely understood and not-so-crazy-after-all. I honestly could not recommend any store more highly. This place is really compelling inside. Whoever sets up the displays has a great design eye. Plus the staff are very friendly. I was barely in the door before two employees were fawning over my purple handbag... later they asked where I got my hair done and another employee complimented my shirt. I don't know if this is part of their sales pitch, but in a way I don't care, it made me feel good coming from such cool hipsters. Aside from that, the actual service was very attentive and friendly. The glasses they sell are AWESOME. They range from unwearably trendy to an accessible level of trendiness that is noticable but a normal human with an office job can pull off. My BF got some amazing brown rubber-and-metal frames and looks incredibly cool. If you're on the ostentatious and/or hipster side of style, you'll find the selection here really smashing. It's expensive compared to mall stores (Lens Crafters, etc) but comparable to other boutiques. Just came back from SEE Eyewear. My vision is still a little blurry from getting my pupils dilated, but I felt the need to write a review ASAP. Great, great experience. A) It was a breeze to make an appointment. B) The doctor was super friendly and very efficient. I'm not very knowledgable about optics, but she was patient and made sure all my questions were answered. And C) The service was impeccable. I wish I remembered the guy's name, but he gave me a ton of recommendations and was extremely honest. First of all, See has some of the best frames around at great prices. I love the fact that they don't have some shiny design label on them. Their glasses just look fantastic and that is all you need. I don't need a 3 inch billboard for Gucci on the side of my face. The designs they carry range from hip to funky to sophisticated. The staff is incredible. Steven, Katie and Funika are fantastic. They are always so friendly and they offer honest opinions on how glasses look on your face. I have left there a few times without glasses and they did not press for a sale at all. This review is overdue.. Cute, quirky (but not irritatingly so) glasses that are wearable but not too common (I'm glad not to see "my" glasses on faces in the Boston area constantly). Good customer service, and adept adjustments. That said, I'm not too psyched about the red, angry dents the sides of my nose are sporting due to the nosepads. Terrific customer service, a HUGE selection of frames (for every face type) and awesome location-- See is the best! I was looking around but not finding anything--until I approached the woman working there. I have a small face and she pointed me to the "petite" (young adult/ kids?) area. She gave me space to try on a lot of frames, but must have been discreetly watching since she went into the back and came out with a few more frames she thought I might like. She chose well, and I ended up buying a cute pair from her selection. She was really friendly and competent, as was the guy working there when I went to pick up my glasses a week later. They have funky, modern, fashionable, and classic frames, all under one roof. Each style comes in a variety of colors, so don't be shy. I was afraid of messing up their display by trying on different glasses, but the folks there WANT you to try out their frames (I think they get an OCD kick out of rearranging them anyway). Note: The prices on the frames INCLUDES the lenses, which is awesome. You only have to pay extra for any coatings you get. read more

I usually hate buying new pairs of sunglasses because they tend to be way to large for me, and I honestly can't tell if they look good or not. But Donny made the entire process easy and fun. My husband has bought several here that he loves. She will help you pick a good fit for your face. I bought my first pair of SEE frames in NYC a few months ago and love them. However, I wasn't expecting the amazing experience I got when I stepped into this Cambridge store. UNRELIABLE, UNPROFESSIONAL, POOR ATTITUDE I went in to get an eye exam and check my prescription so I could get a new pair of glasses. The exam went fine, and I ordered a pair of glasses (from somewhere else.) When my glasses came in I could tell the prescription I was given wasn't correct. I went back in (2 days after my initial appointment), to have the prescription adjusted and was told the only doctor who works there was out of town for the next month. No one had given me any warning of that ahead of time. I asked if there was another eye doctor in town he had a relationship with who would be willing to adjust my prescription for me, and the girl at the counter laughed at me for the idea, as through I was an idiot for thinking a doctor would make arrangements to be sure his patients were taken care of while he was gone. I ended up having to make an appointment at Eye Q optical, where they were at least kind enough not to charge me for a full eye exam to adjust the prescription. read more

Ok so i bought a pair of glasses at SEE, the sales people were excessively friendly and helpful. A week later i returned to the store because one of the lens had delaminated. Probably a rare thing, but i thought it would be a quick fix. The salesperson refused to help - i did not have a receipt. And despite having given all my contact info for their database including credit info at the time of the purchase I was left with an unusable pair of expensive glasses. And no option but to buy a complete new pair. If you expect your consumer rights to be honored and want to spend your money where the business will stand behind their products and service beyond the point of the sale LOOK elsewhere ! ! 2nd UPDATE - the black matte finish on the frames peeled off in little white dandruff-y strips that were pretty ugly, then the hinges on the glasses gave up the ghost on the replacement pair. The glasses did not last 9 months. For reference: I wore them every day and always used a case. :( (UPDATE - Manager called me after seeing this review, and offered to refund my $$. I just dont want to go back there, so I declined, but to be fair, I thought that was a nice gesture and increased the rating) Really really bummed out about my bad customer service experience here, and being told that the company doesn't stand by their frames after a month. The history: I was attracted to this brightly lit glasses shop and brought several friends here to choose glasses in 2008. We always had a good experience, and were kindly treated. I dont know what has changed - new management? Well, this year when it came time for me to get my own pair, I was treated badly not once but THREE times and since then I dread even passing the place. it is just so NEGATIVE and the women salespeople I worked with were just plain MEAN to me. (the optometrist guy was a hard sell but kind). I went to See to choose my frames with a friend who was 7 months pregnant. I got a frame and waited and waited to just pay, but we left waiting in the store for 45 minutes to check out, even though there were two other salespeople who were free. I begged to be allowed to purchase my glasses and leave because my friend had not eaten, and was feeling faint, but apparently these people work on commission AND that commission was more important than letting a pregnant lady out early. That experience over, I get my glasses 2 wks later, take them home and the second day the arm of my frames falls off -it just jumps ship. So I go to the store and ask if someone can fix it or help me, and Kate (I think) brusquely says, "why dont you take your frames to any of the other eyeglasses shops around here - there are plenty of them!" Hunh?! I have to explain several times that I got my glasses from her shop til she finally allows me to show her the glasses. NEXT come the accusations - "what did you do to them?" - again I explain the glasses are 2 days old, that I did nothing, and finally she becomes super nice and says she'll order me another pair of frames. Phew, right? Well, I can only get my lenses put in the new frames when the optometrist is in shop because apparently no one at the glasses shop besides him can put in lenses (?!). So I have to come back a third time. OK no problema. I try to get back but have a hard time making it when the optometrist is in and I get there right at 7pm when they are closing. there is still a customer in the store, and after knocking on the window I explain I just need my lenses popped into the replacement frame and the saleswoman berates me: "we arent even supposed to be here now!" SERIOUSLY? My cellphone had 7:01 and they close at 7. Yes second time I'm kvetched at by a cranky 20 something saleslady. I sit there in the corner, just hoping I can get out of this place with a pair of working glasses - for $300 you'd think that wouldn't be too much to ask while the optometrist and the saleslady have a conversation over my head as if I was not there. Finally I'm told by the lady "ok so this is a freebie - if this had happened in, like a month, I'd be more suspicious but we'll cover it this time". Wow, thanks -- thanks SO much for berating me every time I come in, and for laying the blame on me for some funky hinges, and for doing me such a HUGE favor. So: HEADS UP folks, MEAN ol salesladies, and, If your See glasses fall apart after a month, the company will not help you, and, you'll likely get a tongue-lashing from bitter ol evil mean 20-going on-90 saleslady to boot. read more

I've been to SEE twice. The first experience was good enough to make me come back again (4 stars). I saw the eye doc who didn't seem to give a shit about my eyesight, but hey, I don't give a shit about hers either and she gave me a prescription that worked, so no harm done. Then Katie helped me to order contacts, they arrived quickly, and all was well. The second experience (for Rx sunglasses) was not so nice. I was helped by another sales-girl (I wish I knew her name) who was rude and ambivalent as I searched for a pair of frames. Again, not a big deal, I don't expect her to care about me. As I went to check out, she acted rude and impatient. I needed the sunglasses for an upcoming winter trip to Switzerland and ordered the sunglasses with expediated shipping, as promised by the salesgirl to arrive in time. The entire time I was checking out she was rude, didn't want to bother taking down the address that I needed them shipped to, and was annoyed that I needed her to print out (she messed this up multiple times) the itemized receipt I needed for my medical benefits card. Two full weeks passed before I got suspicious. I called the store to find out that they were "on hold" in the lab. I was told I'd be called back with the reason why. No call back. I tried again the next day and again was told they were "on hold" in the lab. No more information given. Meanwhile, I'm leaving for bright snowy Switzerland in a few days without sunglasses. No call the next day. No attempt in the slightest to figure out the problem and ship the glasses to me as promised. I went on the trip and a week later, still no update. Called SEE again (now nearly 4 weeks after ordering the glasses) to find that they had, that day, arrived in the shop. Cancelled the shipping, as I was back from my trip, and picked them up myself the following week. I spoke to Steven who explained that the glasses never should have been promised to arrive at the date originally stated and that they never ship glasses directly from the lab to a customer's address, as originally promised to me by the salesgirl. My shipping cost was reimbursed. When I went to pick up the glasses, the salesgirl (upon hearing my name) gave a huge sigh and eye roll of irritation. This is not the way to treat a customer. I will not return back here and I would advise my friends to stay away based on the inconsistency of service. read more

tl;dr: I do not recommend SEE for your eye exam needs. But go here if you want to get unique frames. I love the glasses I got here, but my overall experience was pretty poor. Dr. Cope talked about her personal life throughout the entire eye exam. Honestly, gossip can be fun, and I thought she was really nice and pleasant at the time. But she must have been distracted because she wrote down the completely wrong prescription. After waiting 2 weeks for my glasses (longer than expected due to an error), I realized that my right eye was much worse than my left when wearing the glasses. I had to go back for a second exam and found out that she was a full point off one eye (meaning she just copied my old prescription...) and a quarter point off my left. Mistakes happen, but I would expect a place like this - a place that prizes itself on customer service and sells glasses for upwards of $300 - to make it right. I got no apologies; in fact, I was blamed for the mistake because "eye exams can be so subjective from day to day". Okay... but a full point? I also had to pay extra for the new lenses because the new prescription required high-index lenses if I wanted to be able to close my glasses. Honestly, it sucked to have to pay extra and be without glasses for 3 weeks because of someone else's mistake. The fact that I supposedly had a birthday discount that would have covered it but it wasn't honored because it wasn't a "new purchase" anymore also sucked. And it sucked to wear the wrong prescription for 1.5 weeks between exams. But the reason I will never go back again was because they didn't even apologize. What is that? There are a lot of opticians in Harvard Square. Go here if you want funky unique glasses, but skip the exam. Gossip is fun, but not at the expense of what you're actually paying for. read more
