I was a loyal SEE customer for years, but their customer service has fallen apart across the board from phone and in-store interactions to corporate support. I was promised a call from corporate that never happened, and instead got nothing but canned email responses. It feels like people hiding behind a keyboard, dodging customer support, and making up nonsense. No effort to actually help, no real communication, and no respect for loyal customers. Totally incompetent. I ordered prescription sunglasses, they told me I would get them in about 3 weeks. I was going to Florida in 4 weeks so I thought that would be enough buffer time. After 3 weeks I called to see if they'd be ready soon and expedite them if necessary. They said that the glasses would be another week and that expediting was not possible. The day before my vacation I called and AGAIN they said the glasses were not ready yet and would be another week. They offered to ship them to Florida and have the manager call me back, which she never did. I spent 8 days in Florida and did not get a call from the manager or either store. Called again today and they said they would look into it and call me back and AGAIN they did not call me back. It's now been 5 weeks with no sign of my sunglasses and no returned calls. Their entire staff is utterly inept and useless. Notice that they have only had one Yelp rating above 1 star since 2021. There's a reason for that people, stay away. read more

I got my first glasses from SEE back in the late 90s, at the Lincoln Park location. The glasses I got there were the first ones I really felt comfortable wearing out and about, instead of my contact lenses. I felt confident and cute! I've since gotten about 10 additional pairs from SEE, the rest of them all from the Old Orchard location. I've always felt welcome at SEE, the staff is always so friendly and fun to work with. I feel like they're friends of mine, not just sales staff. I spotted my most recent pair of glasses in a recent Trunk Show email, and popped in to check them out. They had them, in the color I wanted, and Josie helped me choose between them and an additional pair I spotted while in store. She got my order ready, and I paid for the glasses as there are only 1 pair of this color per store. I just need to get my exam, to get them my updated prescription. I was pretty happy I could purchase the glasses (with progressive lenses) ahead of time, and not worry that my color will be sold out. As for the quality of the glasses, I've always been more than happy with them. I don't have the original pair I got all those years ago (donated them), but I have all the others (mostly cat eye shaped), and have replaced the lenses in older pairs as computer/task glasses, and single vision lenses with progressive. I plan to do that with the other pairs, as I can no longer wear single vision. The frames are all unique, timeless, well made and sturdy. read more

I purchased progressive lens glasses from this location in January of 2024. after three weeks of waiting, the lenses were made incorrectly. Very obviously incorrect as I couldn't see clearly. The lenses were made a second time, another three weeks. I wore them for a week this time, but they were still wrong, couldn't see clearly. Third time was not a charm as after another three weeks of waiting, I could still not see clearly. All I want at this point is a full refund. I don't care if it's not your store policy. I have zero confidence that remaking the lenses a fourth time will result in a correct product. Avoid this store at all cost! read more

I am a long time customer of See Old Orchard. When I asked them to replace the lenses of my lightly used glasses with sunglasses lenses I got the cold shoulder. They claimed that the frames were "stretched", but I couldn't see it. In any case couldn't the frames be retrofitted when the lenses were changed. The woman behind the counter offered to see if the frames were still in stock. This was a bad choice on her part to upsell when I clearly wanted to recycle the frames. I caution anyone from having an eye exam and ordering contacts/glasses from here. I have worn contacts for almost 25 years and the dr at this location never took my eye measurement for a contact lens exam, therefore prescribing me an incorrect eye curvature on my contacts. Waste of money and uncomfortable. I also received an incorrect invoice that took about a month to correct. All in all a very poor experience. Surprised to see anything less than a 5 star review. This spot is great and has been since I discovered years back. Whether you need an eye check up, new glasses, new sunglasses, contacts, you name it... they've got you covered. Even in cases where I needed an emergency set of contacts prior to traveling they always came through time and time again. The whole staff was always nice when I went to SEE Old Orchard a few years ago and nothing has changed since then! Experiences have always been pleasant and I'm a happy customer. I purchased a pair of glasses in the Skokie location. It took over 5 weeks to get them. I specifically asked for Varilux lenses. The price they charged me to make the lenses for an easy prescription was over $550. Varilux lenses as you can see offer 3 different lenses ranging from $149-$339.00 for the HD . When I picked these up they were not the Verilux but Sees own brand. I could not see, the transition was so dark that going from outside to inside was impossible. The reason I wanted the Veilux is the make a wide view that takes away the dizziness that can happen when you wear progressives. The gal Josephine agreed to return them after speaking to "HEAD QUARTERS" . I still needed frames but knew I would have the lenses installed elsewhere. So I drove downtown selected another frame stickly a retail purchase with an agreed 10 day return policy. You would think the "stylist " would fit you with frames that fit you face. I took these to my eye Dr. and she said they are way to big for my face. I called to make an appointment to return them, absolutely not they say. I am trying to call headquarters they gave me a phony persons name. No picks up or returns calls. The worst customer service ever. Go elsewhere So I am amending this review as Josephine and headquarters refunded me my money. However I do like their customers service. No one takes a call. I have been buying my eyeglasses from this location at old orchard since it first opened. My last experience was my last time purchasing any SEE eyewear at any location. I purchased a pair of glasses and was pressured into getting all sorts of upsell coatings. Less than six months later they suddenly started to have a haze around them. I brought them in thinking there was still the one year warranty policy. The sales person told me it must be because I wasn't handling them right. She was super rude, as if she personally made my glasses by hand and would have to pay for replacement lenses out of her own pocket. I explained that I bought two pair on the same day and one was fine. She said I must have had debris on my lenses and caused the problem. I asked what on earth type of debris would cause haze and not scratched. Then she said I must have left them on something hot like a windshield and caused heat damage and crazing. It was still winter. Then she told me whomever handled my original order (6 months prior) calculated my costs wrong and that I owed an additional $20. It was like a comedy prank show was being filmed there. When you spend $800 on one pair of glasses they need to last more than 6 months and need to be able to handle regular life. SEE has a phenomenal selection of glasses for those of us with thinner faces. I always find it so insanely difficult to find glasses that don't make me look like Iris Apfel. As a result, I'm still wearing the ones I bought maybe in 2002? (Side note, I also have a pair from the early 90's in my car, as my "just in case I lose a contact surfing" glasses.) (They're *almost* back in again.) But when I stopped into SEE to try on some frames, there were so many that worked for me that I was literally there for hours trying to decide between all the options. I finally got TWO new pairs!! Hallelujah! The staff was super super nice and helpful and patient. If you go for the $169 frames, just know that getting the extra thin lenses and anti-glare coating will set you back another $280 or so, but you can use your insurance to get a discount. read more

Use GROUPON GROUPON GROUPN. I Was a long term client. Spent up towards $1,000 over the years. Needed new contacts and glasses. Found out a few days after buying glasses there is a GROUPON. They would not let me use it..my fault I found out soon after the purchase...but as a long time client I felt abused. WARNING. They also have a ploy when you bring in your frames...first they needed new nose guards..you must first sign a legal release before they even try to fix them. I was not comfortable so I went to LENSCRAFTERS. Even though SEE made them. LensCrafters no problem, they fixed them in two minutes. Free....no need to sign a legal waiver. New lenses, well you have to sign their legal wavier for new lenses if I want to use my frames...She said well they might break. I was told a week before by LensCrafters the frames were fine. I think SEE uses this waiver to try to scare clients into buying new frames and to protect them because they are, incompetent? Check for discount coupons, ASKING THEM DOESN'T HELP. Very disappointed... The Optometrist is great, but I will never buy glasses or contacts from them again. read more

I went because of their Groupon deal and was happy with the selection of glasses and have been happy about the glasses I purchased. I was not happy about the service I received from one particular woman at the Skokie/Old Orchard Location. After choosing my glasses we sat down to fill out the order. The technician doing the order asked if I wanted anything else. Being new to purchasing glasses I said no, I dont think so. She continued to process the order. I then remembered, about one minute in to her writing the order on the computer, that I had meant to ask what material the lenses were made of because I received a suggestion to get plastic and not poly whatever. Excuse my lack of knowledge of glasses but I have never purchased glasses before. I asked the technician what material would be used on my lenses. She said poly whatever. I said, "Oh, Im sorry, is it possible for me to receive plastic lenses". **Dramatic Pause** The technician responded ,after the dramatic pause, "But you said you did not want anything else." I said ma'am I just remembered this and it was never given as an option. That is why I asked". She again said, "But you said you did not want anything else." I said, "Ma'am I did not know what options I had." She again said, "But that is why I asked if you wanted anything else." By this time I was looking for Ashton Kutcher to jump out from behind the desk. This banter continued about two more times until she said fine I will be sure to ask that in the future. She then proceeded to revise the order. She then asked if I wanted anything else. I said, "Well what else can I get that I am not aware of. " She then says, "Well, I dont know what you want." I say, "Ma'am, what is on the screen that I have options to look into." She says, "Oh, well, I dont know - glasses, a chain, it depends on what you want." Call me crazy, but shouldn't there be an explanation of additional features that I have the option of getting? I did not have glasses before that day, therefore I have no idea what else I should need. And as sales associate this is a grand opportunity to suggestively sell other items that a new eye glasses owner may need or find as an enhancement. We have both come to the conclusion that they are outrageously expensive and that their customer service is hit-and-miss. Read the other reviews here to understand, I guess. Follow Up to review that mysteriously disappears. After multiple calls and being told that 5-7 days was not their norm that 7-10 days is what they promise there are still no eyewear 12 days out. Additionally we were TOLD tha tthey would be there Friday which is 2 weeks out. They did give us a refund, but the back end service on this sale was absolutely horrible. This was the 3rd person I have brought to SEE (and yes amy you can look up C. Carroll and SEE I bought her glasses 1 month ago on Armitage) I will never go back to these people. My rough feeling is that they had a coupon special and got overwhelemed and instead of communicating that, they treat the customers like dirt. Finally, Amy. I bought 2 pairs of glasses in April 2021 at Old Orchard See Eyewear. Josie and Valentina helped me. It was an exceptionally pleasant experience. Both Josie and Valentina were not only knowledgable and efficient, but very personable. While I waited I saw Josie help another customer with the same caring and warm attention. Went there to get a pair of glasses about 6 months ago and they were really nice. I had a Groupon for $50 worth of $200 glasses and got a great pair that I have been complimented on a lot (I think people actually take me seriously now that I have a pair on my head :-S). I'm totally blind without some sort of prescription so they had to double up on the lenses which added $75 but it was still a great deal. There was a dude there that was really good, eastern european lady was grouchy and totally needs a boyfriend (or girlfriend). Didn't like the anti-glare stuff or being approached about it (seriously?). I saw that they had another groupon and was really tempted to buy it even though I don't need it. They sent me a hand-written note of thanks for business and a follow up. That was really cool (although I would imagine it wouldn't be for the hand-cramped workers) because I didn't feel like I was getting a generic bureaucratic email from a huge conglomerate like AT&T (but that's another story). Jenny could not have been more helpful in helping me select a frame - she must have pulled a dozen for me to try and then when I'd made my selection, she really helped me narrow down the lenses. I usually like gray tint, but she showed me how much better the brown tint would be for my golf game. :) She had the lab add a bit of gray b/c she knew I liked it & then used the 'polarized' lens demo they had in the store to convince me that polarized lenses were the way to go. I wanted to stay within a certain price point and she didn't seem judgy. I wanted a certain look and she let me try on tons of glasses there; I never felt rushed. She also wanted to make sure my glasses fit correctly. It was great! She explained everything clearly about the Groupon I was using, and I ended up getting an amazing deal. I switched services from Lenscrafters to SEE. After picking up my glasses, I received a handwritten note from Sylvia saying she hoped I was enjoying my glasses. I've been going to SEE Eyewear for years. Both my current glasses are SEE purchases and I have absolutely no doubt that my next purchase will be from SEE as well. Why? Because not only do they have the "cool" frames, they have the customer service to compliment them. Each time I have gone into one of their stores, and the Old Orchard store in particular, I've been met with a smile and the type of service that is there when I want it but allows me to browse without pressure when I don't. And - extremely important to me - when I ask for an honest opinion about the frames I am trying on, I get it. My glasses broke! These are the second pairs that literally broke! I have a total of 6(now 5) glasses from them and the others, all their hinges are loose and they WILL NOT fix them! I brought them all in asking for them to fix them and they said they can't(this is 5 months after I bought them)! I used to go to them when they first opened their store in International Mall(Tampa, FL)19 years ago and the quality was so much better! I still have my 19 year old glasses and they are still in 1 piece! I am never going here again and will NEVER refer anyone to them! $700 frames now broken! read more

I fell in love with my professors glasses so I had to ask where she got them! before going to SEE I looked around for large, brown square glasses- the vision I had for my glasses and what works for my round face! I couldn't find them anywhere!! All frames were too small for my liking so I finally decided suck it up and travel 50 mins to go look at SEE. This place is pretty awesome. The store is very clean, organized and full of friendly employees. The frames are made in Europe and each store gets a limited quantity so you won't see everyone and their mother wearing the SAME frame (cough ray bans cough)The lenses are included in the price of the frame (ONLY for single vision, for bifocals like myself you get a $99 credit) my frames were $159.00 however with my poly carbonate lenses, with anti glare etc the total for my insurance was over $600 so the more I think about that the more I am confused. I didn't pay much out of pocket though so that's all that matters. I really cannot wait to pick up my glasses next week!!! read more
