See's Candies has been one of my favorite chocolate shops for as long as I can remember, so walking into one of these places brings back a lot of memories, especially because of their style, which is still old school but looks modernized. I also think it's cool that their employees still dress in almost the same way they did back then, so it's definitely stayed true to its roots in that sense. Regardless, their chocolate is fantastic, and I would strongly advise anyone to stop by and have a look, especially because practically every time I visit, I am given a free sample, though there have been a few occasions when I have not received one. Nonetheless, I'm sure if you asked, they'd give you one, so even if you don't decide to buy anything, you'll get a taste of what they have to offer, and you'll see how amazing it is after tasting it, which will entice you to want to buy some, so try the chocolate at your own risk. Furthermore, their personnel is quite nice; after being approached with free chocolate, which may sound bizarre, they always make it a point to answer any questions you may have and to make you feel sincerely welcomed. And, based on what I've seen so far, they're like this with every consumer. The only thing I find tragic is that the price of their chocolate has increased significantly, which is to be expected given inflation and global events; the chocolate is definitely worth the price, but I can see it being prohibitively expensive for some; however, keep in mind that you can always make your own box and choose which chocolates you want, as they display all of them in the front of the store for you to see. However, if you want an assorted box, they do sell them, though they can be costly. They sell a variety of delicacies in addition to chocolates, so take a look around the store since something other than chocolate can grab your eye, such as their coated nuts or lollipops. They also sell decorative things to match with the various boxes in case you ever want to gift them or something. The one thing I wished for was a larger selection of sugar-free chocolates, as their selection appeared to be limited from what I saw, but at least they had one, which was nice. Another cool thing about the location is that if you look around the store and pay close attention to some of the details on the wall, you'll notice that they incorporate photos and quotes from their original establishment, which is a subtle thing but I find it very interesting and cool, so if you're interested in the history of the place, definitely look around and read the little photos they have. You can also see a photo of the original owner's mother(or so I believe), who was the one who compiled the recipes. Overall, if you ever want to buy from a decently sized range of chocolate/candy, it's a terrific candy shop; the only negative is that the prices have gone up enormously. read more

Love me some See's! I don't usually find myself giving five stars to chain candy stores in malls, but these guys are awesome. First of all, I've been getting boxes of See's candies as holiday gifts from my grandmother for as long as I can remember, so they hold some nostalgia for me. Walking past the shop on our way to the parking garage, that was enough to make me stop and buy a couple chocolates for the ride home. Great thing about See's: when you walk up to the counter, you're immediately offered a sample. And a sample is AN ENTIRE TRUFFLE. We got to try the dark chocolate coconut truffle, and it was divine. Then I purchased the Dark Bordeaux for myself (dark chocolate draped around a brown sugar buttercream) and a Dark Chocolate Butter (chocolate on chocolate on chocolate, oh yeah!) for my boyfriend. Both were delightful, but what was almost more delightful was the woman behind the counter. She joked with us, gave us recommendations, and even teased us about how "in love" we seemed ("You guys have been together how long? Oh come on!You're making me sick!") She was a riot. I've never been to Sees before, but I had a gift card that's been sitting in my wallet for almost a year, so I figured it was time to check out the place! So much chocolate! Why have I not been here sooner?! They have boxed candies as well as many different varieties in the display case. I decided to get some chocolate covered raisins. Since I've never had any other than Raisinets...these were pretty fantastic, lol! Milk chocolate deliciousness. Chocolate is weighed by the pound. I believe it's $19.90 per pound, which does seem pretty high. I probably wouldn't come again unless I had a gift card :-P The gal at the counter was friendly and offered us samples of the dark chocolate coconut candy. Not bad at all! read more

Decided to order my corporate holidays gifts for my colleagues from See's Candies and boy, what a mistake. They were difficult to deal with -- lots of hand-offs between customer service that took forever to resolve. To add to my frustrations, they screwed up my order by delivering the incorrect gifts to my recipients and flat out refused to proactively address the issue they created. Now, I have to contact each of my holiday gift recipients, ruining their holiday surprise, and requiring me to waste a lot of time and effort coordinating how each recipient will receive the correct gift. What a disappointment. Should have ordered my holiday gifts elsewhere. Not recommended. read more

I grew up eating See's candy... you'd think they worked in cahoots with the dentist I ate it so much. When I moved from California to Texas, I never expected the surplus to cease. I was experiencing withdraws of the candy and having my cousins in California pack and ship it to me. This was beginning to get extrenely tiring and stressful. I went into a deep depression as well as an identity crisis! I began to question my purpose in life. After remaining prayerful and being a very good United States citizen I felt like I was running out of time. I began to do a job search back home in California. One day as my daughter and I were strolling through the mall. I've always loved See's Candies since I was a child in California...and was so happy when it arrived in Texas. It's not only great quality, but great value compared to so many other chocolate shops. The lollipops are amazing!! My review today is less about See's and more about Sonja--hands down the best See's employee I've ever met at any location in the country. The See's founders would be so proud to watch her in action. She brightens everyone's day as they walk by and does so much good for the See's brand. So many people who would have just walked past without noticing See's come in, explore, get excited, and leave happy. I think it sets See's apart that they offer a piece of chocolate to everyone who comes in. What better way to make people feel welcome--and want to buy something once they taste how good it is. Regarding Sonja, I appreciate that instead of just offering every customer the same generic piece of chocolate, she asks them what they like first and then picks a sample. Every time I attempt to go here I have a bad experience. I usually end up waiting... only to have the employees help people that have just walked up. I know it's also customary to hand out a sample to people waiting in line... which I have been passed over by the employees. And the crazy thing is that the people on multiple occasions just went there for the sample and didn't even buy... when I was about to spend actual money on some overpriced candies. This location pales in comparison to the ones I have been to in California. Texas needs to get it together and more than any other location the one at Northpark needs the most help. Quality was that of a very good candy store, but the prices were more like a boutique chocolatier. Since it is in a mall, I can understand the price premium. I was not going home after my visit, and it was well over 80 degrees so taking anything to go was not an option. Instead, I asked the wonderfully attentive young lady who was working there some questions about the product and indulged in a few samples that she provided me. The toffee selections that I sampled were very good... not too hard, but hard enough with good buttery flavor and accent notes depending on the variety. When I was growing up my grandmother always had chocolates in her home because her sister worked for Fanny Farmer Candies in NYC. Well you can guess the jokes we made as kids about eating "Farmer's Fanny" candies. Having been raised on those kinds of chocolates it was only to the greatest delight when we moved to California and found See's Candy. Now, growing up from the age of 10 that was THE ONLY chocolates that we coveted. When Grandma came to visit we presented her with a box of See's which she practically turned up her nose at because of her loyalty to her sister, but after tasting a few pieced she sold her sister down the river to the Fanny Farmer and was a life long See's fan like the rest of us. Which brings me to my delight in finding a See's Candy Store in Dallas Texas because I love to just buy a few pieces of my favorites and pass up the ones that come in the box that nobody really wants. I was so happy to happen upon the store this past Saturday while I was waiting for my watch to receive a new battery. It was all delicious! read more

Always the go to place for a nice box of candy. I like to choose my own pieces, cause the wife only likes the dark chocolate, brittles, and caramels. This way, you're not disappointed and have a lot of leftover pieces at the end of your box that no one wants. read more

I am sorry but the chocolates here are a bit of an, ahem, acquired taste. Ok they basically suck. The abomination of sugary fruit tasting chocolate takes away the taste of...well...er...chocolate. Better off going to a 7-11 and getting a Hersey bar. You will spend less and get a much much better flavor. Btw I took one bite of every piece in the box before throwing it away. Not sure how many pieces I tried but tasting these grotesque excuse of a confection was almost as bad a prepping for a colonoscopy. read more
