Today was my first time in World Market and OMG !!! They have everything you could possibly think of that you need in your home, from a assortment of teas and wines, to rugs and paintings. When I entered the store, they were serving complimentary coffee. Who doesn't love a welcoming gift!! I got myself a cup, while pursing the isles. I ended up getting a honeycomb spoon, a decorative rug and a little jar of raspberry preserves. Just when I though it couldn't get any better, the cashier informed me about their rewards program. Every time I come in here, I have to wait a long time to check out. They are either moving way too slow or don't even bother. Today was the same. The dude was checking out held up the line so he can get his coupon I guess. Idk what he was searching his phone for. He was standing there for 15 mins. Both cashiers was helping him look on his phone. One of the cashiers realized there's a line forming and helped the person in front of me. When it was my turn, he told me to wait for the other cashier while he stood there to do nothing. The other cashier was still on the phone with the dude searching for a coupon. Does anybody have any consideration for anybody else anymore? Get out of line and search for whatever you need or have it ready before you come up to the line. Who the heck is running this place? Discrimination or honest mistake? I bought a few things and went home, only to find most of the items I bought were not in the bag they gave me. I called world market and was advised to return to the store. After the two cashiers reviewed my receipt, they said they couldn't help me and told me to come back in the morning to speak with their store manager, Charlie. Charlie had to check their security camera and once she realized they had never given me the 2nd bag, she apologized and gave me the items back. It's too bad they didn't believe me in the first place because I have been a regular customer ever since moving to the city a few weeks ago. I like some of their products, but will not be back to this location. It was highly embarrassing, inconvenient and I felt as if they thought I was lying to them. Just ask someone and their folks are super willing to help you. I signed up for their texting promo which gave me like 10% off that order. If you've never been here and are reading this review to decide whether or not you should make the trip, here's what I can tell you. 1. Allow time for your visit. I often visit 5+ World Markets around my area in Dallas/Addison. I would like to submit a praise to the Oak Lawn store located at 3888 oak lawn Ave in Dallas Texas - namely because of their wonderful staff. I have had the pleasure of being serviced by Kent on numerous occasions (a dozen plus) and he is always very enjoyable to interact with. He works very often it seems. But he is never not smiling, has a very friendly and approachable attitude, is quick to help, and goes far above and beyond general duties. Even when I am just doing a happy return and not purchasing, he makes my day! I can tell by the way he always is tidying up, Kent is genuinely a person who is passionate about good customer service. I have seen him silently go out of his way for shoppers with disabilities, and provide helping hands. I will continue to support this location because other stores employees, frankly are not up to par. He is a gem! And the store is always so neat and tidy while he is there. This store is located on Oak Lawn just east of the corner of Oak Lawn and Lemmon. It is in a pretty nice area that includes a grocery market, clothing stores, and some restaurants among other businesses. One of the nice things about their location, especially for this particular area of town where real estate is expensive, is that there is plenty of parking. As I walked in, I thought to myself, "Pretty amazing place", especially when I had not been in one before. At first it is a bit overwhelming and then you settle in and begin to take it all in... My thoughts turned to remember what Pier 1 used to be long ago (which I loved). It is a collection of worldly goods ranging from food items, furniture, curtains, rugs, lighting, cards, jewelry, alcohol, and quite a few seasonal items as well. The staff was very helpful on my visit with plenty of friendly faces offering guidance and advice. It was a fun place and a very pleasant experience. I recommend you try them out. read more

Allison L really nailed it in her review -- so true about everything! I went in last night while waiting for my to go order at Sushi Zushi hoping to find some last-minute gifts still left on my list. At the front of the store I noticed they were all set up with gifts for under ten bucks, and they all looked like the perfect thing! Not wanting to jump the gun too early, I went from corner to corner to see what I could find. Hanging beads for doorways, mosaic tiled picture frames, chocolates from around the world and cheap champagne were just some of the awesome things I came across. I settled on some wrapping paper and a set of wine glasses, 6 for $14.99. If that isn't a deal, I don't know what is. PS - The check out guys are hilarious. I'm seriously gonna have to set boundaries for myself on how often I go in here, and how much I can spend at a time. I love their furniture. I love their jewelry and accessories. I love all the neat cooking oils and spices you can get from all over the world. I love all the candy you can get that you can't find anywhere else. Well, so most of the reviews pretty much nailed it for World Market. World Market is what Pier One used to be; full of goodies from all over the globe. Soaps from Spain, jewelry from India, pasta from Italy, British teas from the UK, Asian fans from China, and candy from all over Europe, just to name a few things. The selection of wines is very unique and nicely priced. There are a few wines that you see everywhere else, but they also have stuff you normally don't see. That includes the selection of ales, lagers and beer. It's my go-to place for wines (obviously), teas, candles, dishes, jewelry, soaps, baskets, and candy, Haribo gummi bears to be exact. read more

Love world market! I didn't know about this store until I googled it, and it came up. I usually go to the one in Greenville, but I'm glad there is one on oak lawn because this is so much closer from my place. The inside is a little different from other stores, and it may be a little smaller, but they still have the same products. There is lots of parking. Next to Tom Thumb, and there are other stores in the same shopping complex. It's clean and organized. read more

Bought a piece of furniture tonight and then had the dilemma of trying to figure out how to get it into my car...employees Felix and Ruben stepped up to the plate and we're going to figure it out. They put their coats on (because it was COLD!) and ended up taking everything out of the box to put the pieces in my car. We still couldn't get the last piece to fit though. Luckily my office is in the same shopping center so I can come back with a co-worker and an SUV to claim the last piece tomorrow. I have resided in the neighborhood for eight years and never stepped into this delightful store. It's a hodgepodge of eclectic home decor, kitchen, and outside furnishings. It's akin to Walmart divorced and remarried someone from Orange County California and opened a "cute" store. I'm a coffee addict and it was hot as Hell, so retail therapy was my excuse to spend too much on coffee "works". Chemex Coffee Carafe, filters, weird owl coffee mug, and some other stuff I don't need rounded out the money I am subtracting from my niece's inheritance. I rationalized my purchases due to the discount offered if I gave them my personal information that they could possibly mishandle and mess up my coins. Time will tell. Overall, my experience was pleasant and I will come back to waist more money. It feels gooood. read more

Furniture, gifts, stationary, and photo frames. On the food side they have packaged food from around the world (gee, I wonder why they're called world market?). We're talking variety from countries I've never even heard of. And then the booze section: all types of beer sold in cases or mix and match, and lots of wine/sparkly. The associates are usually very helpful and knowledgeable as well. When I need a gift on the fly, I make a quick stop here to buy a bottle of wine with a gift bag and card. Easy shmeasy. World Market also has a cool variety of specialty foods -- e.g., imported cookies and snacks, candy, pasta, sauces, etc. I recently bought and tried truffle gnocchi here, and it was delicious. World Market is the type of place you go into for specific items, and find things you never knew you needed but suddenly realize you desperately need. World Market is a store for EVERYONE! Authentic to the core, "goods" are imported from all over the world to have at the convenience of your neighborhood market. No matter what ethnicity, religion or culture, you are sure to find something here you can relate to. I think they pump oxygen in the air because an hour in this store feels like minutes. Having recently moved to Texas, I discovered this place quite close to my apartment, and was shocked at the variety and quality of items they have! Everything from specialty beers, to a vast wine collection, to european chocolates, furniture, kitchen supplies made for a perfect visit for me to buy the essentials for my apartment. The only reason i don't give 5 stars is the strange lack of certain things that you would expect to find (for example coffee filters). But i love this place, i always end up spending at least an hour going around and looking at everything. Couple the wide variety to the really good deals and discounts you can get once you become a member and you can save a lot of money, while ending up with some great bargains and some awesome deals! LOVE it!! ALSO, they have wine tastings on saturday between 1-4 pm!! Need more reasons to come here? I don't! read more

I needed something so I thought Id go to World Market. I ask a woman there for help. They are out of the product. She tells me the manager isnt there and only a manager can look up in the computer to check stock. Not only that, but she cannot call another location to check stock....the customers have to do that....they are busy stocking products.....This is just wrong......Maybe I got a bad person, but they should be more willing to help customers....I left pissed....Not too sure if Ill go back..... read more

World Market is a fun store with a great variety of authentic items from around the world. The food options, beer, coffee, and trinkets are really kind of mind-boggling. This particular location is, in my opinion, much better organized, cleaner, and better kept than other locations I've been to, and the location is convenient to the Design District, Oak Lawn, and Uptown. I'm not gaga crazy about World Market, because I find their selections are based on having a mind-boggling array rather than having useful, every-day items. I have also felt their prices at times to be kind of erratic - some things are reasonable, some cheap, and some outrageous. I went in for crackers only to discover they didn't have any standard cheesetray-like crackers. Really? ok...to Kroger, then. Their gift wrap options for the holiday season are fun, quirky, and beautiful, but also kind of expensive for doing all my gifts. It's a fun place I'll visit from time to time, but I just never seem to fall in love with anything here, and usually end up leaving empty-handed. read more
