They are well staffed for the smaller size of this mall and See's store. For Christmas, they did run out of several types of their favorite chocolates. Also, this store does not sell the smaller boxes if you want to put together that size for gifts, which is what I wanted this year. However, the clerk did not tell me that until after I picked out several chocolates. One of my sons has a nut allergy and a girlfriend who doesn't like chocolate, so I picked out candies for their boxes that they would like and could eat. I thought that I could find some small boxes easily for the chocolates - wrong! I went back to the store and Ellen helped me out with some mid sized boxes and some little bags. She was very sweet, just like the chocolates. BTW, See's are just as delicious as some of the more expensive, bougie chocolates. read more

Amazing experience! Loved the energy of the particular See's store. Pierce (employee) has good energy and the way he interacted with his customers. Huge smile and very welcoming to everyone coming into the store. He complimented all our choices as we selected an assortment of dark chocolate goodness to take home and enjoy. Okay... so bad. Will never go back. The heavy-ish, greasy grey haired (sort of grey and black hair?) could barely figure out what I wanted when I just wanted a little bit of fudge. I often go in to get "walnut fudge" and usually it's the ladies behind the counter, but today I went in at an unusual time for my schedule - and got that guy. He asked I if I was sure that's what I wanted - that sometimes people want a buttercream. I said I was sure that I wanted fudge. I said fudge without nuts if you have it, and he said no it always has walnuts in it. I said OK then with walnuts is fine, and he said well you know sometimes we have specials where it doesn't have nuts. I said OK whatever you have is fine. He said well it always has nuts. I'm like Ok. then he said so it will have nuts. I said that's fine. I usually get the smallest you can give me you know four pieces so he handed me a piece of fudge with and said that can be your sample, and then he put two other pieces in a little bag and told me that would my purchase. So even though I had asked for four pieces, he sold me two pieces and gave me one piece as a sample... so I didn't argue with him. I'm just like OK whatever. Then I said do you have a napkin or a piece of wax paper or something that I can use as a napkin? and he goes well what do you mean? I'm like OK never mind. It was just stupid. It's not like I have an accent or anything - he wasn't busy - no one else was in there - it was 4:15 on a Wednesday afternoon. Very quiet. Tthen I got my fudge, and I get in the car - and one of my pieces of fudge had a little piece of rubber band in it !So it's over for me with See's Candy. It was all around just... gross. read more

walked in and was ignored. i'd understand if it was busy but only one other person.. as a poc i read the room and we left. the employee walked right by us, in our face, and avoided eye contact. we understood and just left... in this day and age, it is that serious and being walked by and not acknowledged feels dehumanizing. read more

I have not been to a See's since before COVID. I was SO pleased with the service I received at this location. I stopped in to get my mom some candy. She moved out of state & misses See's. I was greeted immediately as I entered. Then when I explained I was flying the lady gave me something for the plane ride. This is a great location. Highly recommend this See's. read more

Always an event when I come here with my sugar obsessed friend. Each trip is about a $200 event so you can imagine we've had it all. I love the toffees. dark, or milk covered in nuts. They will always give you a sample of something else if you don't like the one they are doing that day too. We get bags of toffees, nut clusters, the big box of brick toffee is awesome too. I think they may only have during the Holiday. You can also get an empty box and fill by the pound of whatever you like. That's a great gift for anyone. read more

Carlos was super helpful to me this morning, great friendly service. I bought 3 cans of Toffee-ettes but he gave me a free sample of the almond toffee and it was as good or better. Had a great experience at this location. The woman who assisted was very helpful and friendly, offering us free samples upon check in and providing stellar recommendations. The store was immaculate and the layout was meticulous. We probably walked away with about 10 bite sized chocolates for just under $10, but $1/each was about what I was expecting. I love See's candy stores so much! The chocolates here are so addictive I swear it should be illegal. The clean shop is beautiful and aromatic. This candy store is the shopping center close to Flower Child and right next to the 5 freeway so you can make your chocolate pit stop with ease. The prepackaged one pound assorted chocolates box is alright but I like to pick and choose each chocolate so I usually build my own pound box (which is the same price by weight). If you don't want to buy an entire pound of chocolate you can always get a half pound box. The half pound box is about $10. However, they measure it chocolate price by weight and as usual my box was a little on he heavy side -my half pound box cost me $12 but it's a lot of chocolate and well worth the money! My favorite chocolates are: Blueberry truffle #59 Café au lait truffle #58 Dark buttercream #4 Dark chocolate butter #2 Dark chocolate chip truffle #24 Rum naugat #35 Scotchmallow #26 Milk molasses chip #81 (hubby's fav) Tips: At the front counter you will be offered a free sample from their sample drawer, but what you should do is ask to sample a chocolate of your choice. I always ask to sample a truffle chocolate so I don't get disappointed. read more

I want to take a few minutes to tell other customers what a wonderful person they have working at the Del Mar store. Carl is that special person. My helper who does errands for me picked up the wrong type of candy there for my Father's Day gift for my husband. I am handicapped with a walker, so doing errands on my own is always a challenge for me. Nevertheless, I was determined to exchange the candy the day before Father's Day. I called the store 45 minutes before they opened, and arranged me meet Carl on the curb before the store's operating hours. He came out as planned, took my bag as an exchange, and gave me the product I wanted through the car window. It is people like Carl who make my life easier, and I'm sure the lives of others, as well. The employees here make the Super expensive candy prices worth it! Just really friendly people. I like to create my own boxes and never buy the preboxed ones. I wish I could remember the man's name who has helped me twice now, but he is great. I am fairly sure he put extra candies in the box! The candy is always fresh and delicious. Susan was so rude to me today... I asked for a cashew brittle sample but she didn't hear me clear so she gave me some orange sample then I tell her I would like to sample the brittle & buy some lollipops... She gave me the meanest face. She goes you got two samples! It's so funny how She was so talkative with the gentleman in front getting over $60 worth of chocolate but was so mean to me. You can always find me here during the holidays. I love picking up the one pound box of chocolates for my kids teachers, friends, family and neighbors! My favorite variety is the the nuts and chews. BE CAREFUL AT THIS LOCATION! Bad customer service. Yes, I was greeted and given free sample, but man did he mess up my order! Tall skinny guy with a buzz cut. I ordered a 1 pound box of chocolates and didn't open it up until I got home. Several pieces of chocolate were not given to me, he doubled up on flavors that I didn't ask for, and forgot to put ones that I asked for in the box! Unfortunately I'm already at home so nothing I can do but BE CAREFUL AT THIS LOCATION. Talk really slowly and ask to see the chocolates in the box BEFORE it is Sealed. On a positive note I will say that the chocolates at this location seem fresher than the UTC Sees Candy location. 5 stars for Sees Candy, absolutely delicious. -2 stars because I don't want to return to this location if that guy is working there. read more

My 82 year old mother went to See's for the first time to purchase chocolate for my father for Father's Day, who is currently in the hospital. She had to get a ride to get there. She picked out a pound of dark chocolate and the person asked her which box she wanted, white or gold. She picked gold. She was a bit surprised at the cost of the pound of chocolate but assumed it was correct and left. At home later she looked at her receipt to find she was charged $7 for the BOX! Upset and confused she asked me why the chocolate did not include a box. I explained it did, but that sometimes they have seasonal or special boxes, but tell you they cost additional and are not free. She was not told this and felt very taken advantage of. Unfortunately she cannot easily go back since she does not drive and has health issues of her own. I often purchase at this See's and am very angry and disappointed that the person working there did not clearly tell her the box would cost additional, and I too feel that she was taken advantage of. I hope the manager reads this and educates their employee's to be sure they clearly inform people when they are offering a box or anything else that is not complimentary. It is an assumption of a customer if offered gift wrap or a box, that it is included, unless told otherwise. It has been bothering her for days, which is why I was inclined to post as she is not tech savvy. read more

This review applies to all locations. Iconic California chocolate shop. One word. Bordeaux. All other chocolate treats pale in comparison. If you want two words. Milk Bordeaux. The best time of the year is around Easter when they have large Bordeaux eggs, almost worth converting for. read more

This location is not the friendliest. I smiled and was very cherry and never got it returned. They took care of me but I missed the smiles and cheerfulness. My favorite is still the Balboa location in San Diego. They are always friendly and cheerful. Too bad because Via de la Valle is closer to my home. read more
