That was back at the end of June. I checked a few Yelp reviews. Mark sounded nice so I gave him the job. Mistake No. 1. I kept calling to see if the gaskets were in so we could make an appointment. Finally a month later July 24th we had an appointment scheduled at 9. He never showed up, never called, didn't answer any phone calls or emails. Finally heard from him after that date with excuses about having had to help his daughter, yada, yada, yada. He had the parts so I gave him a pass and rescheduled. He then couldn't come because he fell off the roof and hurt himself. It would be a while before he felt better. I gave him yet another pass. Finally he rescheduled on another day and on the day he was supposed to come, he called and said he lost the parts. He would have to look for them and would call me back. I should have said to forget it but I felt bad about all his problems. He didn't find them so he reordered the parts. More unanswered calls and left messages. He finally got the second parts and I tried to reschedule. He then called and said he has too many personal problems and couldn't do the job. That was the end of August. So from June to August it was nothing but phone calls and emails but never got the job done. Back to Yelp, found a great guy with no bad reviews, who immediately ordered the parts, they came in quickly, he called and scheduled for the same day, he came on time, replaced the gaskets, was helpful, pleasant, and conscientious. The owner (Mr. "Tad" Tadeusz) called me shortly after I submitted the form (talk about quick response!), and I explained the symptoms. Dude just straight up said "Ahh that's an ice-build-up in the fan housing." He proceeds to tell me how to fix it, that it's straight forward, and to call him back if it didn't work. Modern fridges with the freezer in the bottom has so many shelves and such that it blocked my view of the vents and the ice build-up. When i removed all the shelving, I finally saw some ice buildup in the vents, just as Mr Tad assumed what had happened. I mean I wouldn't have minded for them to come and to pay for a professional to give my fridge a once-over to ensure it's tip-top shape. But I did as he said, and the issue resolved!!! As instructed, he told me thoroughly clean all the seals, and turn off the fridge to defrost the freezer so it all melts. I finally ate most of the food to do as instructed, I placed what remaining food in coolers, and gave the fridge a good clean and melted all the ice. Issue resolved!!!! No wonder the previous owner kept Mr Tad's business' stickers all over the house. I'm glad he did! Now I have my go-to appliance man for life!!! This kind of integrity is incredible! The man with decades of experience, knew the issue over the phone immediately, and gave me DIY instructions! I'm a consultant and I charge clients for my experience and advice because that's my job.
