I have always thought that Seglin's Florist was one of the best in the Cleveland area - until today. I called to report that the beautiful floral bouquet ($139.99 plus delivery) that my daughters sent me for Mother's Day had ants, probably in the peonies. I spoke with the manager to report this, not asking for anything, just stating that it should be looked into before something similar is sent to someone in a hospital or elsewhere where someone might be ill. I was accused of "wanting free flowers". There was no apology nor responsibility. Then I was told that I probably had ants in my house. I cannot recommend them anymore. read more

What a wonderful downtown florist for Cleveland Clinic! I ordered a FTD "bee well" bouquet for my friend after surgery. They called twice a day to check if she was out of ICU so they could make the order and deliver it! Great, kind service. The flowers were full and as cute as a button as I expected. Purchased a standing funeral spray for a good amount of money. The spray was absolutely pathetic!! --sparse flowers and limited greenery! The company should have been ashamed to have their name associated with it. Being from out of town, the florist felt they could take advantage of me and the situation. I called the florist twice asking to talk to the manager (employee "claimed" the manager was not in). Left my name and phone number. Never received the courtesy of a call back. Charming little local joint to get your flowers, houseplants and even small shrubbery. They also carry Pandora/Pandora-esque bracelet beads and do fruit/candy/cheese and sausage gift baskets. The customer service is warm, friendly, and knowledgeable and will even throw in a discount or two to help craft your bouquet to your satisfaction. Unsurprisingly, they draw a lot of business from the Cleveland Clinic down the street and they certainly pose better alternatives to the Clinic gift shop's meager, overpriced offerings. The selection of flowers isn't astronomical but they have all the usuals--gerbers, roses, miniature roses, orchids, tulips, etc., and they do deliveries as well. The store space could use a little more lighting and the displays were rather haphazard, but I did enjoy the openness of the airy high ceilings, exposed brick and broad layout, giving you the feel of meandering through an old-school greenhouse/conservatory. But what made Segelin's stand out from most independent, local flower shops I've been to was the down-to-earth, personable customer service. I've stopped to browse a couple times and once to nab a couple red roses for an anniversary dinner with the bf--I know, cheesy, but I jump at every chance to get flowers, even just to romance myself. It was just the beginning of tulip season and all the flowers looked well-kept and fresh. The attendants let me browse a bit then one approached to help. She even made sure I got the perkiest, largest blossoms and took a couple dollars off for getting two. I don't know what she did to them, but they literally lasted 4 weeks with the usual packet of flower freshener most florists will supply in a bouquet. Hmmm.... I also noticed they had a wide selection of ferns as well--I'll probably stop by to pick one up for the house. Nothing like a good fern to improve your air quality. If you're a Cleveland Clinic employee, flash your badge to get 10% off. But whether you're an employee picking up something for your date or you're visiting a loved one at the hospital, Segelin's will be sure to take as good care of you as they obviously do with their tenderly nourished blooms. read more

I live out of town so i looked up some local cleveland florists to ship flowers to my family. I got a chrismas cactus for my dad for christmas, who loves plants and gardening. The website image showed a plant in full bloom, but i can understand that isnt always in the florist control. Its nice they added that pine sprig and pine cone to spruce it up. Pretty sure my dad thought this was okay, maybe he will be wowed when the flowers finally bloom. read more

I had the worst experience with segelins! My son had his very first homecoming and I ordered what o thought would be the most beautiful corsage and boutonnière paid over $80 for it no problem I thought id get excellent quality, I've never been so wrong. Not only were they nothing like waht was pict the person who runs the Facebook page was very disrespectful and basically told me to screw off and have a nice day! Today I had a joyful time shopping for flowers at Segelin's Florist. First, the warm greeting from Tara, one of the florist, as soon as I walked in. She was very helpful with suggesting Arrangements for a flower vase from my art collection. Next, I met Scott, the Floral Designer, who took the vase and created the most beautiful arrangement -drawing out the muted colors and balancing it with the bolds. Next, Scott & Terra were so kind to take several pics for my advertisements. I'm soooo looking forward to doing business with Segelin's in the future. read more

I ordered flowers online to be delivered to my mother for her birthday and the flowers that were delivered were not as advertised on the site. I called up Segelin's and they created a new arrangement and delivered it my mother for no additional charge the arrangement was beautiful. Definitely not ordering again. I ordered 20 INDIVIDUAL carnations. I explained that I was passing them out to co-workers. I received a vase with 20 carnations that looked several days old and just tossed in the vase. For $2.50 a stem I could have gone to Giant Eagle and gotten better. read more

I called on Dec. 22nd AM, like I have done for years to send a Christmas arrangement to my relatives in Cleveland- I have used Segelin's many times- never again. The woman who answered the phone was so ill mannered and annoyed. She actually snickered and scoffed and said, "Well you're a little late." I guess that made her feel better.? I was surprised she was so rude- of course that I was a loss of words. I should have asked her if there was someone else there to help me. Obviously she did not want to. I asked if there were any replacements for alstromerias- but she was no help at all. Never suggested anything, getting rid of me fast. Merry Christmas, geesh. So I called Diamond's flowers, no problem! No condensation or rudeness. They were prepared to take orders - which is a florist's job this time of year! I used tele flora to order flowers for a friends birthday. I ordered a beautiful fall bouquet. When my friend received the flowers she texted me a picture. I was beside myself. This had to be the ugliest arrangement of flowers Ive ever seen. The colors were not fall colors and they didn't match. It looked as though a small child put this together with left over flowers and some weeds. I was so embarrassed. This was to be a 75.00 arrangement, it looked like it cost about 6 bucks. I will never use Tele flora again, nor Segelin's. Deeply disappointed and feel like I should have just given my friend cash instead. read more

Just had an arrangement delivered from Segelins. It clearly tipped over en route. It arrived with the flowers soaked, the water bowl empty, the card soaked and the box and paper disintegrated. I don't think the flowers will last for more than a few hours. I called to let them know. The very nice lady heard my story and was very sympathetic. Then she put me on hold for a minute. When she came back on the phone she said, "I just spoke to the manager. He said to put some water in the bowl and call us in a few days if the flowers don't survive." These flowers were for a death in the family. Not the act of kindness, or even good business, that I expected. They just lost a potential customer for life. read more

I have not been to the shop in person, but they were wonderful over the phone for delivery. If you are delivering to a patient at the Cleveland Clinic, they only need the patient's name. The bouquet I saw on their website was not available, but I chose a similar one for the same price. Though the flowers in the bouquet I ended up ordering were slightly different (just daisies) from the one I originally requested (daisies and roses), they arranged the replacement bouquet exactly like the original, without being asked. My now fiancee purchased flowers for Valentines Day. The florist did not deliver them until the day after. My issue is that he paid more for the roses being that it was a holiday and they hike up the prices for Valentines Day. I called the florist and they did confirm that he did pay more than on a regular day. So, he paid more, and it did not happen on the day it was supposed to be delivered and the florist did not have any reason why the flowers were not delivered on Valentines Day other than "We ran out of time". The card that came with my order even said the date of the deliver was "02/14/13 Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m." I received them around 10:00 on 02/15/13, which is totally unacceptable. If the company could not "have time" to deliver all the orders that were made, they should have not committed to all those orders. I'm not upset that I did not get my flowers on Valentines day, I'm upset that my boyfriend got screwed over. And when I called, the girl could not do anything or help because the manager was out of the office until the following week which is absurd during such a busy holiday. Their response: am so sorry you did not receive your flowers on Valentines Day, as was ordered. We did attempt to make every delivery, unfortunately the overwhelming magnitude of deliveries on that day made it impossible to hit everyone in the time specified due to the fact that the Cleveland Clinic is a city within itself and only our everyday trained drivers can deliver there. It was impossible to address every issue on the 15th of February due to the fact that we were still continuously trying to keep getting all the deliveries delivered and were we to stop it would have put a longer lapse on getting the items out, we delivered over 400 deliveries that day with 10 drivers so we did think we were prepared. The price of roses due become higher for the holiday, but that comes down from the growers, it is all demand and supply. Please accept this gift certificate for a future purchase at your discretion, it is only good for local deliveries. You may bring it to the store to redeem or you can mail it prior to when you would like the delivery to go out. We hope we can rectify the bad experience you had with us. I scheduled an appointment for a flower consultation for my upcoming wedding. I asked my Maid of Honor and Wedding Planner to join me at my 10:00am appointment with Segelins Florist. Sadly, there were three people at the front desk including the male owner, who didn't acknowledge and or even greet us as we proceeded inside. I made my party aware of my thoughts and that if I felt uncomfortable then I was going to leave, but I thought let's give this business one more opportunity to get it right. We informed the three people at the desk that we were there to see Mata and that we had an appointment. The male owner immediately said that she was busy in the back making boutonnieres. So now that we are fifteen minutes past our scheduled appointment, he proceeded to say that she will be with us shortly. Momentarily, Mata appears and explains that she is terribly sorry that she has other things to do and if we were able to wait. At this time, my leadership skills begins- how long would you like for us to wait? Is there anyone here that can perform your duties so that you can focus on your wedding consultation appointments and why are you and the Owner are okay with this failed process? I asked Mata would like for us to reschedule? She said YES, I also asked if she prefers if I call to to reschedule- She said YES- these two questions were only questions to help me to seal the deal of never returning to this poorly run business. False Advertising! I ordered T69-1A Victorian Romance flower arrangement - standard, online for a total of $75.99, I sent them to my friend at the Cleveland Clinic. She traveled frm Texas to have surgery in Ohio. I wanted a very special arrangement to cheer her up. I asked her to send me a photo of the flowers she received and they were nothing like the advertisement. I am very disappointed that they skimped on what should have been a lot bigger and nicer. Segelin's Florist employs false advertising. We ordered the "premium" bunch of flowers for a staff member to honor her hard work and dedication. What we received appears to be less than the small or basic bouquet. We have ordered from 1800Flowers and received a more lush, larger bouquet for $40 less. Very nice people but you're better off buying one of their pre-existing floral arrangements in the cooler rather than ordering a "custom" arrangement or something out of Tele-floral. They just don't have the knack and tend to skimp on flowers, not use good height arrangements, and overkill with greenery (interesting greenery, but greenery all the same). read more

I ordered a premium bouquet, which on the website looked lush, full and beautiful. The one that arrived not only looked smaller than the BASIC bouquet, but the flowers didn't even look fresh. When I called to inquire about the bouquet, I was told that they had used the 'recipe' for the bouquet, and it was in fact the "PREMIUM" size. When I mentioned that the bouquet looked NOTHING like what was in the photo, the lady on the phone told me that in the photos, all the flowers are pushed forward to look like there is more in the bouquet.
