Shopping for new laminate floors at Home Depot lead me searching on YELP for floor contractors that could do the dirty work that Home Depot's Contractor's (LA Carpet) Contractors (Plural, yes, 2 sets) didn't want to do. Searching for someone to prep my sub floor (lay concrete over the existing, battered up, soft concrete / gypcrete) and possibly install my floors, i sent out 40+ quote requests, George from Select Flooring was not only the one who responded the quickest, he was available right away. George linked me up with one his guys, Alex, and he was super professional throughout the entire process. He went over what I needed, setup and appointment, and he and his helper finished about 350sq ft, + baseboards in 1 full day. Price was right too! I can't recommend them enough... you need to give these guys a try, before going to those big box/corporate retailers, because those guys are just going to contract these types of guys anyway. Mind as well eliminate the middle man, and go directly to the guys who specialize in flooring. They also have product in case you need it, but can install if you purchase from another location (I say give them all your business if you can, I know would have!) In search of flooring installers after purchasing my own flooring, I reached out to over a dozen companies for a quote. Not only was select flooring one of the quickest responses, they also were the most reasonable price. Alex got a hold of me and was quick with an estimate that seemed very fair. Since I had purchased the flooring myself, Alex helped me and made sure i had all the correct materials before installation. When Alex and crew showed up for the install, they were promptly on time and got to work right away. They were kind to cover the furniture as to mitigate dust collection and moved the furniture as they worked. During the install, Alex was very good with communicating any issues and he and his crew even alerted me to some old gas lines going to my stove that were leaking and in need of replacement. The final installed product (floors and baseboard) was beautiful and professional and all competed within one day. I cannot recommend these guys more! Do not use this company! I had some vinyl composite tile installed about a year and half ago. every 2 weeks or so glue seeps up from the seams and its a pain in the ass to clean up. if you use anything but hot water and a bit of dish soap it leave a mark on the tile. after cleaning it again yesterday I got fed up and tracked down this company who installed it. the owner just said "I don't know why glue still comes out?" "maybe it needs to be cleaned up?" "I have never heard of a case when something like this keeps happening years later" he then gave me the phone number of the employee who installed it! what am I supposed to do with that? It's his company. He then said, "there's nothing else I can do" I said you can reimburse me or pay for it to be professionally cleaned. his response was "nothing" and "I'm sorry". read more

George at Select Flooring really stepped up and helped me when I had a wood "emergency", ie; needed to get it as soon as I could, at the best price. He (a) matched the price offered by direct-to-pros-only shop (ie; you had to be in the building business and pay a $25.00 membership fee); (b) provided a better grade of wood; (c) provided it immediately, at the worst time of the year - ordered on Christmas eve, delivered right after Christmas and (d) delivered it for free (depends on where you are though, my project was in Silver Lake, where his shop is located.) I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone who needs to source flooring products. Plus, it is great to have someone local, normally you have to go out to NoHo for good flooring prices/quality. read more

We called Select Flooring after an initial tile layer messed up laying our previously purchased vinyl tile. George recommended his guy Alex. Alex came out and gave an assessment of the work that needed to be done and an estimate. After cancelling on the initial time he was supposed to show up, Alex showed up and did the work of stripping previous layers of tile and then smoothing things out to lay the vinyl tile. The tile was charcoal gray and one side of the tile was darker than the other. Alex laid the tile in such a way that some of the tile was flipped on the other side, which is not the uniform look that we specifically said we wanted, and it would have been uniformed if all the tiles had been laid on the same side. He also did not finish the job in the same day because he ran out of tile (which should have been assessed at an earlier point in the job, also if Alex had used the partial pieces that were left by the previous contractor, there would have been enough whole pieces to finish the job). Alex was paid over 80% of the total estimated price for the job based on the work he completed that day, as per his request. He was supposed to come out to finish the job but cancelled on two appointments to do so. We called yet another person out to finish the job and polish the floor, and it was THIS person who pointed out that Alex had laid some of the tiles on the wrong side. We finally heard back from Alex after the other person completed job and told him we had someone else finish the job. Apparently Alex reported back to George that we "did not let him finish the job" which is incorrect given what I laid out above. He also had the audacity to say that my husband was there and should have known that some of the tiles were on the wrong side. No YOU should have known since you are the professional tile installer. Now we have a floor that has patches that do no match. And this not an easy thing to correct. While Alex deserved to be compensated for the work he did complete, again, that work involved laying some of the tile on the wrong side, which Alex as the professional should have known. As I believe we should be reimbursed a portion of what was paid for the work performed. read more
