I'm going to start up with the service this time, because from the second you walk in you get greeted with a smile (something that's lacking lately) and right away you feel at home. Brownie points for that! Now onto the food. I gotta be honest here (although I'm always honest) but the food was excellent (IMHO). Warm Baguette with butter. The Escargots Persillés was so unique! It's a Bone in Marrow & Toasted Bread...it's a must! From the Homemade Foie Gras Terrine, Summer Truffle Raviole, Classic New York Steak Au Poivre and the special of the night Scallops! Perfectly seared, soft, juicy and delish! You can come with friends, coworkers for Happy Hour. The ambiance fits any moment but if you want to impress someone, bring them here and it will not hurt your pocket. For a Miami Beach restaurant, it's greatly priced! Ask for Julien, he is the best!

Love the happy hour at Semilla! Beautiful and creative cocktails and plenty of happy hour dishes to choose from. You can't go wrong with any of the cocktails! I would've tried every one if my liver allowed it. We had the oysters, croquettes, calamari, and wagyu sliders. The only thing I wouldn't have again is the slider--didn't really do it for me. The croquettes were my favorite--the sauce is sooo good. I like how the vibe changes depending on whether you sit outside or inside. If you dine indoors, this spot is chic and intimate. If you dine outdoors, it's a casual vibe. Service is a little iffy, they seemed unenthusiastic most of the time and I felt like an inconvenience sometimes.

A few small outdoor tables, which I wouldn't recommend, as there's no view--just a street on which cars speed by. Sit indoors. Indoors is a chick, sultry vibe. Dimmed lighting. Red lights. Seductive music lulling in the background. Perfect spot for a date or an intimate gathering. Not a lot of seating, as the restaurant is small, so be aware. Make reservations. We came in without reservations and were lucky with the last spot on the bar. That ended up being a very nice surprise--we got to observe the chefs preparing meats and fish on the grill that's situated "inside" the bar. Cool concept! We were entertained all night by watching the chefs at work. A dinner and a show! Exceptional service: courteous, swift, efficient, professional. We felt that elusive balance of being checked upon the right amount without being bothered or abandoned. All the waitstaff were top notch. We felt welcomed. Food was delicious. Everything we had was solid and satisfying. $4 French baguette with butter came fresh out of the oven, so we enjoyed that crunchy crust and warm interior. $21 summer truffle raviole was the only item I'd skip. The white truffle sauce was delicious and we lapped it up with that warm baguette. The three tiny pieces of pasta were disappointing. Tough and bland and chewy. Didn't really understand what or why. Not worth your valuable stomach real estate. $12 French onion soup was standard. Tasty. Nothing out of the ordinary to comment on. $38 NY strip comes with fries, which were of good quality, not too salty, not greasy at all. The meat was on a chewier/denser side, since it wasn't as fatty, compared to the more fatty & delicate ribeye cut. $44 ribeye special was the highlight of our meal. The meat was tender and juicy. The green beans were perfectly seasoned and had a great balanced flavor profile. $8 chocolate mouse was very sweet. You'll get tired of the monotonous texture and sweetness after the second bite. Good to share, so that you don't get overwhelmed with sugar at the end of your balanced meal. Would return!

Great bar, vast selection of wines and varied menu make this a great stop in South Beach. They won best French restaurant in 2021. Prices are quite reasonable and the ambiance is great. They also have lovely outdoor seating in the front. I definitely recommend this sweet spot.

Fabulous and exactly what my group was looking for! The waiter was perfect and the owner was fun to chat with as he worked the room. The steak was delicious and highly recommend the Stag's Leap wine. French joint with French staff!

Friday 8pm party of 6 outdoors It was very busy when we got there. We sat outside but after 5 minutes , someone from the group wanted to see if we can move indoors . Unfortunately all the tables were taken but nonetheless , it was more of a preference so it's easier for us to hear each other and tough as it's directly on the street by a busy street . We managed and enjoyed our company over some delicious baguette , escargot bone marrow , beef carpaccio ( paired well with the l'ambrusco like red wine ), truffle ravioli ( a tad chewy for my taste ) , escarole salad . For main , we had the sea bass ( slightly too done ) to share , chicken and steak frites . Lovely ambiance inside with high ceiling, dim lighting, cozy feel . Attentive service by our french server . Could be a local spot for me if I lived on this side of the beach and in Florida . Love the bar seating, a good place for a glass of wine and to eat dinner .

I had high hopes for this places due to the high reviews. The interior was beautiful and very romantic. However, the service was very poor. It took us an hour and a half to receive our food. We got our appetizers like 30 minutes in which were the croquettes and they were good. The duck was also good, however, the pasta was extremely average. I feel a bit disappointed because a lot of the tables that came after us got their food first. They also had auto gratuity of either 18 or 20 %, which is probably why the service was so bad. They don't care since their tip is pre-paid which is extremely predatory.

This is a really quaint restaurant. We chatted with the owner and later on his wife. Their son works behind the bar. I love that it is family run. I ordered a few oysters to start. They were delicious and the sauces were excellent. I also ordered the French onion soup. This is a real French onion soup. I liked it but I prefer the Americanized version I am used to. I sampled the goat cheese salad and it was excellent. I loved my Beef Bourginion. I was surprised it had penny pasta. I actually had this dish in France and it was incredible. The one here was excellent as well. I do believe the chef and owner is actually from France which is awesome, especially since he is running a French restaurant. The croquettes were different from what I am used to but still good. The lava cake was so delicious. I sampled the Mojoto and enjoyed that. Service was great. This is a nice place to eat that is unexpected and just delicious. Oh yeah, I ordered a loaf of French bread to take home. I took a bite when I got hone to taste it at it's best. I liked it but thought Whole Foods and Fresh Market have just as high quality French bread.

I was very impressed with Semilla. It is a French restaurant with some unique menu items. I ordered a monitor to start. I enjoyed it and thought it was different from others I had in the past. I had a can of Coke that was ice cold. I ordered the goat cheese salad. This was very tasty. The goat cheese had a nice crspiness on the outside. I tasted a croquetta and enjoyed this. It was also different from what I have had in the past. My filet mignon was very good. The potatoes were flavorful. I also had some zucchini and asparagus. We ordered lava cake for dessert. This was excellent, served warm. The ice cream elwas delicious and I am a chocolate ice cream person. There are not many tables inside here. There are a few outside. You really need to make reservations unless you don't mind sitting at the bar. In that case, there are many seats. Our server was very good.

Check in to receive a FREE MOJITO... Visited this restaurant for the first time and was very impressed. We started off with a few appetizers and drinks from the happy hour menu and they were amazing. We then ordered the salmon and ribeye steak, both delicious and cooked perfectly. Nice decor with dim lighting and comfortable seating. Everything we ordered was very flavorful with beautiful presentation. I highly recommend the oysters, mini ahi tuna tacos, and the truffle mashed potatoes. read more

One of the best HAPPY HOUR discoveries in SOBE! This restaurants decor & vibe is a combination of modern & rustic. My husband & I arrived on a Friday at around 7pm and we ordered directly from the Happy Hour menu. The food & drinks were all wonderful as well as the service! All of the servers were all very nice. My husband accidentally spilled his wine & they brought him a new glass immediately after they cleaned up the mess. They have Happy Hour every weekday from 6-8pm. Wednesday cocktails are $1 for the ladies. We went on a Friday at around 7pm and it was great when we found out Happy Hour is ALL NIGHT on Fridays! We showed up without making a reservation and we were seated immediately. Everything we tried was excellent! We tried the Oysters, Croquettes & tacos! I had two Mojitos and they were great! Tip: If you check-in with Yelp you get a complimentary mojito. We didn't stay till very late but a DJ arrived right before us leaving. It seems the restaurant turns into a lounge after 9pm. This not-so-little jewel is quite a nice experience! First of all, if it's a French restaurant and there is a fair number of French people eating in it... it's a very good bet! And it was! Wonderful foie gras, amazing baguette, very savory escargots, tasty baked Brie! For mains we sampled the lamb chops, the filet mignon, the veal Milanese and the grilled octopus - all absolute winners! The desserts were equally wonderful and true to the French recipes - Ile Flottante is my favorite and they got it absolutely right, and a huge portion. The atmosphere was like being in Europe... half of the tables were filled with French, German, British patrons... loved the variety! read more

My husband and I went last night. We were so happy with the ambiance and food! It is a very small place and seating is limited. This being said, the bar tender asked a couple to move down to accompany another couple and they reacted unexpectedly and were upset (well the guy... I hope the girl dumped him... lol). My husband had the duck and I had the risotto and both were delicious. I am so happy we found this gem. Thank you for a wonderful evening! Love from Massachusetts! read more

Esthetic French restaurant that is easy to miss when driving by. Our friends from Paris had introduced us to it. French owner has created a very cozy atmosphere with a very nice bar area. The food is pretty good. All 4 people left satisfied. There was only one negative point that the roof was leaking during a heavy rain while our dinner and the waiter did not offer to change a table even. So I am am taking off one star. read more

Semilla is the best spot for locals and tourists alike to come a have tapas and amazing drinks. They have an incredible wine selection and even better prices. While you are here you can lose yourself and become so immersed in French cuisine culture and feel as if your staring at the Mediterranean in a St Tropez waterfront restaurant. We samples the Manchego croquettes which were succulent and the perfect pairing with our happy hour drinks. One of my favorites spots on the beach, will definitely be coming back soon! read more

So this is not a review on the food. We sat there looking at the wonderful menu for 15 min with no acknowledgement so we left. What I did see was an unorganized staff that couldn't handle being busy and a bartender who didn't know how to pour a proper drink, he would also use his hands to run through is hair then touching your drinks. Love to try it again but will go when it's slower and they have the time to serve you . It worked out cause we went to another place that evening that was fantastic read more

Happy Hour Monday-Friday from 5-7 Wine and Beer is $6-7 and Bites are varied, they were good. The place is quiet and the happy hot snacks are varied. It's an easy spot on South Beach not to stuffy, it was warm though. Maybe it's the Miami summer heat that's getting to me but it was kind of warm. The service was very nice and attentive. Honestly the place is cute and fine but nothing out of the ordinary. If I lived across the street I would pop in occasionally for Happy Hour. read more

Don't miss this wonderful restaurant on Alton Road. Went there for happy hour and the food is beyond delicious. Definitely try the French onion, soup, cheese, and potato croquettes, truffle pasta. Service is excellent prices are reasonable, and Maria our waitress could not have been nicer. We definitely will return to this gem of a place soon. read more

We visited on a Saturday night and got the HH specials, which was such a surprise considering most places on the Beach never offers HH on a Sat night. We were greeted by the owner, who was very friendly and explained the food and his vision of the restaurant, definitely a nice personable experience. We order oysters, which were super fresh and tasty, also the Potato and cheese croquetas, a total upgrade from any other croquetas in Miami, outstanding! The shrimp on the HH menu was also delicious. We'll be back to try more items on the menu, overall , great experience, service and delicious food! read more

Just had dinner at Semilla bistro . Table inside or outside are great with distance . The owner Fred is always around to make sure you are happy ! This is great customer service . This place is beautiful! I love the look, ambiance, and decorations, and the food is delicious. Everything is fresh and yummy, we had an endive blue cheese salad, burger, and some happy hour bites, all of which were spectacular. When ordering the burger we asked if they had gluten-free options, and even though they didn't, the chef was really nice and made an accommodation with a hearty lettuce bun, which was perfect. Disappointing and Over Rated Restaurant! First time visitor to resturant. Under staffed, catered to large tables. Took 25 minutes before an order was placed and 45 minutes before serving a simple cold food item from the time sitting down at the table. Happy hr food basic in taste and very simple. Took one hr before wait staff asked to place an order for an entree. Owner clearly not customer driven and very defensive when asking how the dinning experience was going and I gave him my honest experience at that time of dinning, not good. Overall very disappointing dinning experience. read more

A quiet and romantic restaurant with an authentic menu and service. Personally I recommend the pan seared scallops or the beef tartare. I was so full at the end of the meal that I didn't have room for desert. I look forward to returning again to try more. read more

SUPERB!!!! This place is a hidden Miami Beach Gem. The Chef/Owner has such a passion for what he does, it shows in every interaction he has with his customers and every meal he prepares. Just be careful that you don't end up sitting there for hours and drink 5 bottles of Red. Its that kind of place, where you just don't want to leave. Cant wait to go back again this week. read more

This place has bad service, terrible drinks, and mediocre food. Bad service: the people next to us left because the servers did not ever come to the table, the severs brought the wrong food and drinks twice, and we needed to wave them down if we ever wanted to order. Terrible drinks: sugar water. Food: nothing great or terrible to say about it. read more

Dine in is Patio only right now and it's beautiful and super cozy! We picked this place because of all the restaurants we walked past this one was the cleanest! In this day and time with COVID that's really important. This is my first time in Miami and this gem was right around the corner from our hotel! It's French-American cuisine and everything we had was delicious! My favorite were the fresh oysters by far! All the seafood was fresh and the portions were perfect! I can only imagine what a great date night spot this is when the restaurants open back up!! Must try this restaurant if you're in Miami! Whether dining solo, with friends or on a date this is definitely the spot! The owners were so hospitable you could tell they genuinely wanted you to have a great experience! I just have one word, AMAZING! If you like mediterranean or looking for some French food with good wine definitely come here! We ordered the plate that comes with salami, ham, chicken liver pate, different cheeses and ham! The chicken liver pate was amazing! We also got the octopus (the sauce on top was really to die for) and the oysters which were delicious. We came back here at the end of our trip again because we enjoyed the food so much! If you're a wine lover definitely get a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon amelie latourelle I promise you will not regret it and even feel like you are in France for an hour! read more

Dining inside with view of the open kitchen showcases the masterful skills of the chef and team. Personal attention to the entire restaurant by the owner and executive chef. Went with some girls friends for happy hour and tapa style dinner on a Thursday night. The restaurant was quiet and empty but we didThe menu was a little hard to understand as it was in French. We got two cheese plates, oysters, artichokes, and an onion flat bread. Drinks were decent, my favorite was the expressio martini we asked our server to make. As far as food, I enjoyed the oysters and chilled artichoke. The restaurant was by no means bad, I just had tough time finding a lot of options for my group to share to eat. read more

Love this spot. Good food and nice staff, very friendly owner. We have got tuna tartar, truffles pasta, 2 mojitos and profiteroles. Pasta was perfectly al dente and tartar very fresh and tasty. We wanted to bring the kitchen to the dinning room so you can enjoy watching our chefs cooking your meal. With Teppanyaki station and traditional woks and grills, Chef Frederic Joulin brings to Miami Beach his elegant culinary vision. Organic Ingredients From the farm to the table, we pride ourselves to prepare your food with the best quality natural ingredients.

Meet the Manager: Frederic J.

After earning his degree, Joulin began creating cuisine with some of Paris' most notable chefs, including three Michelin star chef Guy Savoy. He also served as the private chef to President Jacques Chirac of France for two years. From ages 20-25, Joulin worked for Yvan Restaurant, a star studded era where he cooked and hosted for the likes of notables like Madonna, Johnny Holiday and Eddie Barclay. This experience rounded out his skills to include hosting as well as his role as a chef. It was during this time period when he learned the balance of cuisine, service and overall experience for both A-listers and everyday clients. But Joulin wanted to take it a step further. "When I start in the kitchen, I just want to become the number one," he said. "At 25 years old, I decided to open my own place." Joulin opened his first restaurant in Paris, Le Clos Saint-Honoré. Came here for dinner one night. It seems that this place gets more business for their happy hour then for their actual dinner. The interior is beautiful. We start off with the shrimp dumplings and beef dumplings. They were ok. Nothing to write home about. Then We had the tuna ceviche and hamachi ceviche. The hamachi was definitely more like your typical ceviche. Was decent. Lastly we had the octopus and the scallops. Octopus was fair and the scallops lacked flavor. Think this place is just ok. Great find on Alton road. I wish the construction right now would make it easier to access and for people to know it's there. I have been there several times and it has been great each and every time. Amazing Tiradito and Lobster remoulade. Try their snicker bar dessert as well, you won't regret it.
