So the tech finally gave me the phone number of this place on West Tennessee and told me I would have to bring the laptop in, and they would download a driver from a thumb drive. He did in five minutes what the Samsung tech could not do in 40 minutes, and his kindness is very much appreciated. It's the last resort after hours of banging on your keyboard in frustration and praying that one more reboot does the trick, followed by haggling with your manufacturer only to learn your warranty has expired (this is definitely not talking from experience). Yet, I do appreciate that we have a good repair place in town that is there in the hour of need. I scheduled an appointment online (but drop-ins seem to be fine too) and ended up with a faulty harddrive that needed replacing (thanks for nothing Microsoft Updates!).
