So the tech finally gave me the phone number of this place on West Tennessee and told me I would have to bring the laptop in, and they would download a driver from a thumb drive. I called the store, and they said they don't really do that sort of thing, but the guy walked us through adding the driver from an HP website. He did in five minutes what the Samsung tech could not do in 40 minutes, and his kindness is very much appreciated. It's the last resort after hours of banging on your keyboard in frustration and praying that one more reboot does the trick, followed by haggling with your manufacturer only to learn your warranty has expired (this is definitely not talking from experience). Yet, I do appreciate that we have a good repair place in town that is there in the hour of need. I scheduled an appointment online (but drop-ins seem to be fine too) and ended up with a faulty harddrive that needed replacing (thanks for nothing Microsoft Updates!). A couple days later and everything was good as new, but my wallet sadly a little lighter. I would definitely recommend Computer Repair Doctor, but still hope that I never have to visit again under similar circumstances!
