The group hotpot is a bit steep for what it is. Starting at $48, and it doesn't include any kind of protein, is a little funny to me. You have to pay $9-$12 each for a plate of 5-6 slices of meat? Extra veggies aren't included, that's an extra cost as well. The soup was bland, and they give you sauces but such a small portion for a group of 4. Service was okay. The server was nice but we had to wait a little. My friend's Thai tea was way too milky. The basil spare rib was more of a stew type of thing with 2-3 rib-lets in there. The appetizer platter seemed like the items were sitting out, it was a little on the cooler side. This place isn't authentic Thai food, it definitely caters to a certain type of crowd. Was looking for a restaurant close to the river with a view, and then happened upon this joint. It's a really nice restaurant both inside and out. Servers were personable and friendly and fast. And the food--so delicious! Got the pad see ew prix fixe with the slaw, the braised beef noodle soup, and the Thai street ramen. All of the dishes were incredibly flavorful. The soup tasted a little like pho and had lots of braised beef. The pad see ew was one of our favorites for sure, and the slaw was light and refreshing. I also got the elephant pants mocktail-passion fruit mint and lime deliciousness and not to sweet. Only in the area for 4 days and family is considering going back for more! read more

Sen is one of those places you hope is as good as their reputation. It's close to where we live and offers a menu we like. Sadly ... - Three of our four entrees were bland. Fried rice dish was very uninteresting, no condiments on the table to help out. This may be a place where you need to order the unusual dishes, or the hot pot. - Service was subpar. Three of four drink orders were forgotten at the bar for quite a while after the first one was delivered. Three of four entrees came out fifteen minutes after the first one. I've also read some reviews, and as a Bend, Oregon spot, Sen has probably had to cater to a lot of people. The hot pot here was incredible! I've had hot pot before but never Thai hot pot and it did not disappoint. They had a parking lot right outside making it super easy to park and get to the spot right by the river. The staff were friendly and sat us at a hot pot table immediately. The flavor bombs we added (the curry and tom yum) were so tasty and really elevated the soups. Between the two the curry was our favorite. The veggies were super plentiful and the meat we ordered was perfectly cooked in the soups. The dipping sauces were also fantastic. We had lunch for the first time. It was excellent- from the classy/comfortable decor, to service and food. Spouse had the pad thai from the fixed lunch menu. One of my favorite meals in Bend! The food was delicious but I really have to shout out to the Laab is All You Need cocktail which was just so unique and GOOD. My friends and I ordered: - Pode Pia Soh Tod (eggrolls w/ Chinese sausage) - prob our least favorite - Hed Kem Tong (crispy enoki mushrooms) - very good! - Pad Phik Khing w/ Chicken (rice w/ beans) - very flavorful! - Guay Teow Mun Goong (noodles) - our favorite of the bunch! I ordered the Jaew Hon Hot Pot, which came with their killer Jaew sauce. Loved the sauce! The sliced ribeye was thicker than your usual hot pot spot, which made the meal more substantial. However, it was lacking in veggies, and overall, was decent but not amazing. My boyfriend got the Guay Teow Neau, a beef brisket broth noodle soup. He thought his dish was just ok. They were kind enough to let me split the check since I needed it for expensing reasons. Otherwise, split checks are not allowed. I would have given them 3 star but we were there for 1 hour and just finished eating, we were asked "very politely" to leave because there is another party waiting. (there was actually no one waiting, but that is not the point). It is important to point out that we were a very normal party. No kids. No noise. It was a perfect balance of herbs and was very refreshing. It was served on a cute tray with peanuts on the side. We ordered Tuah Gratiem (Garlic Green Beans) and Yum Woon Sen. The noodles had amazing flavors and were very light texture. I was impressed with the menu. Our server was very attentive and everything came out quickly. This place is one of our favorites in Bend. Thai flavor meets hot pot... insanely good. We are lucky because they can split the broth in the hot pot so our allergy kids can have a dairy free and gluten free side while the rest enjoy traditionally broth and ramen. Beautiful building (one of the prettiest in town) and great ambiance. We've been here twice and both times feel like the food is slightly lacking on some flavor. I love the sister restaurant Wild Rose (5 stars every time) so was hoping for a bit more from the food here. They have hot pots that you cook yourself which is a fun concept but wish they had those flavor options available ready to go as well. My beautiful wife and I tried Sen (Thai) in Bend, OR for the first since moving to Bend. The food was OK. The portions were small for some items (ie soup) but normal for others (ie entree's). The prices were spendy for for all items on the menu as well as for beverages - not unusual for overpriced Bend, Oregon! The restaurant is located right on the river so the view is pretty nice. BUT the HUGE downside for Sen is the really really really slow service! IF you have amazing food, you can have slow service and high prices...but sadly, they just don't! read more

We came in 1hr before closing, place was busy and we luckily got a table for 4. We ordered a few drinks, i had thai iced tea with coconut milk ($4), my son had the hard alcohol Laab is All You Need ($14) which he liked so much he got another mid way thru :) It surprised me that so many place in Bend, OR serve hard alcohol, quite rare compared to Washington State where I lived before. We had a couple of appetizers: Galumpee Nam Pla (wok fried cauliflower with fish sauce) OMIGOD this was so good I could hardly believe it was cauliflower! Get this! Poh Pia Sode Tod, akin to a spring but roll and incredibly light and delicious with a perfect dipping soy sauce. for entree I had Moo thoon, a wonderful sparerib soup seasoned with five spice and several greens. I ate EVERY SINGLE bit. I got it with the thin egg noodles, and ate it the same way I do pho, with spoon in the left hand and chopsticks in the right. Of course, I gratuitously slavered it with the thai pepper/fish sauce condiment, I love it spicy! What I did not think about is that most of those thai pepper slices sink to the bottom, and you could be in for a surprise if you inhale that last spoonful, which I did. My 3 compatriots all loved theirs as well, but I cant write about that. The bill with 5 drinks and the appetizers came to $150(before my generous tip), which is pretty good for a supreme gourmet meal. Service was fantastic and friendly. Empty bowls cleared promptly. Clean and inviting, well appointed, I will INSIST on coming here again next time I visit my son in Bend!!! read more

We asked for more veggies the cook down so fast. Do not skip the green beans, the most garlic I've had on green beans and I loved it. Crab Rangoon were crispy not chewy and had a great crunch. We finally had dinner at Sen. We lucked out with really nice weather and were able to sit outside by the railing to enjoy the beautiful view of the river. The hostess was sweet and accommodating with our request. We started off with a few cocktails: Tropic Thunder, Tom Khallins, Road to Hana and a couple appetizers: Geow Tod and Tod Mun Goong. Drinks and appetizers were delicious. Our main dishes were Laad Nah and Pad See Ew which were good. But, I have to say the appetizers were the highlight of our dinner. My wife and I have eaten lunch there on several occasions. Once we're inside the restaurant one of the staff greats and seats us. The staff is attentive, friendly and accommodating. We ordered our food and it brought to the table a short time later. We ordered the Mama Pad and it just as delicious as the last time we ordered it. My wife doesn't like spicy food and it was a bit to spicy for her. I like spicy foods myself. We'll try something different on our next visit. Their appetizers are great as well, I ordered the fried chicken it was great and the sauce as well. We haven't eaten dinner here yet, but looking forward to it on a special occasion or not. Starting off with the good: The ambiance and location of Sen is great. It's right on the river next to Bend Brewing company and is beautifully decorated and has a nice patio. There isn't much shade covering on the patio during the day but if you're lucky, you can try to get one of the few tables in the shade. The bad: (cliff notes version) Service was horrible. It's no surprise that this place is empty. It made no sense walking in that it was so empty but after our experience, it all made sense. Hopefully someone else takes ownership over this place or management hires more staff (and friendlier staff) as it's a beautiful spot. (non-cliff notes version) We were excited to have found such a cute spot along the river. We had a party of 6 so we had 3 tables together on the patio. We were seated for awhile and the waitress brought over some water. When I asked for a cup of ice (bc it was literally 95 degrees that day), she rolled her eyes and rudely said ok. I didn't understand what the issue was but let it go. She brought the ice, put it down on the table with no comment and left. She never came back to take our order so my cousin went in to ask if we could order. When she came out, she was visibly annoyed and rude. After we placed our order, my husband asked if we had done something to upset her and if there was a problem. She looked shocked that he asked her, and sighed heavily, gave him a dirty look and said, "No, but I'm the only waitress, buser, bartender, etc." So I replied and said, "I'm sorry you're overwhelmed but that's not a reason to be so rude to us. We're just trying to enjoy our lunch and have been patient and respectful since sitting down." Then she mentioned that two of our kids were finishing a piece of pizza when they walked in and that violated their health code. I responded that she could have told us right away and we would have throw it away and asked where the trash can was. Instead of telling me where the trash was she angrily asked if we wanted the manager to serve us. We were surprised but said sure and asked again where the trash was so I could throw the tiny piece of crust away. She didn't reply and left the table in a huff. The weird part was that the manager seated us and saw the pizza and said nothing, so I'm not sure why this was such an issue for the waitress. We would have willingly thrown it away as we walked in. When I went in to ask the manager where the trash was and explain the situation with the waitress, she seemed surprised but didn't seem that bothered. I told her the waitress asked us to have the manager serve us she said that she would talk to her and come speak to us again. Instead of addressing the issue immediately, she took her kids (who were running around the front of the restaurant) to the restroom. She never came outside to speak to us but came out to help serve our food and now seemed annoyed herself. At the end of our meal, she brought our bill out, never apologized and comped nothing. Before paying, I went back in to ask if she could at least comp our corkage fee since it took so long for them to bring a bucket of ice or any glasses out but she was nowhere to be found. I stood at the front of the restaurant for over 5 minutes waiting and even poked my head into the kitchen a few times saying "Hello?" but nobody responded. After about 8 mins, I poked my head in again and said, "Hello, can someone help me?" more loudly and a cook heard me and said the manager would come out in a few mins. When she appeared, I asked if she was able to comp anything bc of our experience and she said no. She said the waitress was upset that we had moved the tables around outside without permission (which is untrue). My husband asked if that was possible before moving them together. If it wasn't possible, we wouldn't have eaten there, since we had 6 in our party. I was shocked that the manager was so cavalier about the whole situation especially considering that there were only 3 parties dining at the restaurant during lunch hour. I definitely wouldn't dine here again or recommend it to anyone. It's a shame since the location is really nice. Our experience at Bend Brewing the day before was so much more pleasant so guessing people who dine here don't come back or maybe don't dine here at all if they're so short staffed and management seems unphased. read more

10/10 delicious authentic Thai food. We got the Fighting Tiger cocktail with was very refreshing, Guay Teow Mun Goong which had the perfect thick noodles and perfectly cooked large shrimp, and the amazing Krapow Moo Thoon the meat fell off the bone.
