Settled in a neighborhood shopping area we came across JIA Asain Street Kitchen. This place is well designed and we loved the little plants, moon and upside down umbrella lighting. Luckily we had placed a reservation in advance and we're able to get seated immediately. The booth we were sat in felt like the table was a bit higher than normal, but that is literally the worst thing I could say about the place. They have an upstairs area too with a Ms. PacMan and Mortal Kombat arcade games. The prices are very reasonable for the high quality of food and cocktails that you get here. We started with the crispy spring rolls and the crab Rangoon. The spring rolls were super crunchy and delicious and the crab Rangoon was the best we have ever had. It's was an early lunch. I arrived with a friend of mine and we both enjoyed drinks and various appetizers. I did enjoy the poke and the fried shrimp. The pork baos that came out appeared vibrant and flavorful. The deep fried oysters though, not my favorite. I know I can earlier in the day, but perhaps I may visit at a later time in the day to enjoy the atmosphere and the ambiance. First time at Jia and we came in for dinner with the family. I had made reservations, but were not truly needed on a quiet Wednesday night. The menu had a variety of dishes and we ordered family style so that we could try many dishes. We chose the crab Rangoon (we all agreed they were the best in Bend!), chicken pad Thai (5+/5), garlic green beans (5+/5), and a marinated lemongrass chicken plate with rice and a salad (4.5/5). Everything was freshly prepared, hot and deliciously seasoned. All of the dishes tasted fresh with quality ingredients. We also had to try the mango passionfruit crepe for dessert and it was loved by the whole family. It was so light and flavorful! Service was kind and attentive. JIA is 20 minutes outside of downtown Bend but is well worth the drive. The menu is innovative, and they offer some truly craft cocktails. We tried the Long Island Sunrise and the Tokyo by Night, both of which were unique, and the Kuhn Craig which was more like a traditional margarita and the least exciting of the 3. We ordered the food family style so we could all try multiple things: - Crispy rolls appetizer - Spicy eggplant with tofu - Saigon bowl - Vietnamese chicken plate Highly recommend all 3 main courses. The chicken was so tender and well flavored it was hard to stop eating it. Three dishes was more than enough for 3 people, and we probably could have gotten by with two. First things first... food was tasty! We really enjoyed the crispy garlic chicken and the pork jerky appetizer. Unfortunately the service ruined what could have been a five star rating. We waited for a while to be greeted to be seated. Then we ordered several main dishes to share with our party, upon serving it we asked right away for serving spoons and never got them, so we were trying dish out food (rice!) with forks to share. Then we asked for boxes, that was an extended wait. JIA is absolutely FANTASTIC! Every single one of the dishes we tried were absolutely delicious. We tried green beans, crispy rolls and the wings as appetizers and they were all great. Personally I would say the wings and green beans were the best, so would absolutely get those again. For main course, the spicy noodles are delicious but my favorite was the peanut bomb. The sauces they have here are insanely good. We literally kept the sauce from the wings to pour over the rice from the main dishes. Their old fashioned cocktail was the best old fashioned I've ever had, and a fun take on it making it a bit sweeter than a traditional old fashioned. They were short on servers the night we were there but the service was still fantastic in my opinion. Our waitress was helpful and super attentive. Overall fantastic service. And the ambiance is super cool! The inside has all kinds of cool decorations with the clouds and moon, LED light, really just a nice atmosphere. When you wanted to have hot pot and be treated like a star for your birthday I highly recommend Jia Asian Street Kitchen. Everything was prepped ahead of time with great detail down to the radishes being cut to look like mushrooms and the sauces having hearts in them. The ambiance of this place is very cool! I've been both at night and during the day, but highly recommend while it's dark. The lights are so fun. Very insta-worthy! It definitely has more of a downtown vibe, but it is tucked in a SW Bend area. I think it is 100% worth the drive to check this place out. Service is phenomenal! Both times I've been. I must rave about their general garlic shrimp! Parts of the skin on the shrimp were so crispy with the right amount of fried garlic! The shrimps were large, almost like prawns. You can find it under "starters" in their menu, but the portion was large enough for it to be considered an entree instead! There wasn't much inside the crab Rangoon or the crispy rolls. All three appetizers were over fried. The entrees were just ok. We all thought Wild Rose and Noi Thai were much better. We came in to JIA about an hour before they closed for the afternoon, to order food to go. The hosts were very friendly and after ordering, offered us some waters while we waited or said we could also get something at the bar. We opted to wait in the lobby. The dining room looked very nice, I really liked the design choices they made in this space. It was funky but modern and not overwhelming. The outdoor seating area looks nice (in warmer weather of course!) and I saw they have a private event room which I really liked! Looks like it would be a good space for a company dinner or birthday get together. We ordered the spicy noodles and pork belly bao. Reminder to some that these are not dumpling bao. You'd eat these like a taco. Anyway, they were great! Such good flavor. Perfect for the two of us. The spicy noodle was good, not too spicy (meaning it could have been spicier!).
