Had lunch at Kobe Sochi while visiting Bend. There are several lunch specials on the menu that are very reasonably price and with a lot of variety. Our party tried 2 of the specials, one rainbow roll, and a side of the stir fried vegetables. The veggies were delicious with just the right amount of oil and soy sauce. The sushi was good and fresh, but not the same quality as in a high end sushi restaurant. However for the price it was definitely a place I would return to. read more

Holy crap this place is good. Everything we got was so delicious. We ordered the American Dream, Dragon, Kobe roll, pilot butte, rainbow roll and shrimp tempura rolls along with the sashimi dinner. Probably my new favorite restaurant in Bend. I get it at least twice a week. I just moved back from Hawaii and was scared I wasn't going to have sushi as good as the sushi there, but this might be even better. Love this place, and an amazing lunch special! This was an incredibly frustrating experience. The restaurant was only moderately busy, yet after our waitress Heather took our order, she completely disappeared. She never came back to check on us a single time. Not once. We had to flag down another staff member just to get napkins because none were provided. When we needed a box for leftovers, it took forever. I specifically asked for no mushrooms in my steak hibachi. My plate came out loaded with mushrooms. That could have easily been corrected if our server had bothered to do even the bare minimum and check back on her table. Instead, she managed to stop at all of her other tables while ignoring ours entirely. We came in craving authentic Japanese hibachi and left disappointed. On top of the service issues, some of the steak tasted questionable. There's no excuse for this level of inattentive service, especially when the restaurant wasn't slammed. Do better. read more

Here's an unassuming sushi spot in Bend that was solid in my book. My son wanted sushi for his birthday and my wife chose Kobe as our go-to spot. The service was a bit slow but it seems like a husband and wife-only operation so I'll give it a pass. Our server was friendly even if it took a minute for the food to come. We got the Dragon, Godzilla, and Rainbow rolls. All three were delicious and flavorful. I can't say enough good things about this place! We love local family owed businesses and this one did not disappoint. They were slammed but they kept up! The service was phenomenal. Our waitress was super friendly and prompt. Our order was all correct and the food was so good! My son and i love sushi and my husband and daughter had hibachi chicken plates. Every one was super happy with their order. No one went away hungry as the portions were perfect. My husband could have split a plate with my daughter since the hibachi plates were huge! We cannot begin to describe how happy we are to have FINALLY found GOOD FRESH sushi in Bend at Kobe. California has great sushi and we've spent the last six years looking for anything comparable, but we're always let down by every other sushi place in Bend we tried, until today! My gosh, the Tokyo roll, rainbow roll, and sake don were SO delicious! I wish I had taken a picture of the sake don, because the flower they made out of salmon was art, but the salmon was so fresh and melt in your mouth delicious that we inhaled it in minutes. The cream cheese wontons were really yummy too. Their parking lot is tight but you could easily park in the gym parking lot nearby and walk over. They also had stellar customer service. Prompt, friendly, checked with us often, and I knocked my glass of water all over the floor and the sweet waitress helping us was so kind and empathetic about it. She kept telling me "don't worry, you don't need to clean it up, I'll get it!" It would be very easy to overeat here, because everything is so good that I don't want to listen to my full tummy telling me I'm at my stopping point. Cannot wait to go back! Excellent! Just tried Kobe for the first time and the food was delicious. Our waitresses were really nice and fun to chat with. We only had sushi along with miso soup (weak) and seaweed salad (not the greatest). I would say the rolls are very hearty (i.e., lots of rice) and the fish is very fresh. The cost is about the same as another sushi place in Cascade Village area. When we arrived we sat outside but soon we realized it was very noisy (Greenwood Ave) and dusty. Wow, I almost hate to write this review because I know it will soon be the most popular sushi restaurant in Bend. On the other hand, I hope they put jerks like NorthFresh out of business and expand their place to rival CHI and Five Fusion for size. First, they are SOOOOOO nice and accommodating, the service is extraordinarily great. Second, the quality is amazing, the sushi (and I always order real sushi - Maguro, Hamachi, Sake, etc.) and their sushi was fresh, tender, and delicious. And, OMG, their prices are unbelievable.
