Seneca Stag was our first stop while visiting the Finger Lakes. After a long drive we were dire need of a cold beer and good food, Seneca Stag didn't disappoint. We went on a Thursday night and as one would expect, it wasn't all too busy in the early evening. The brewery is located in a refurbished barn, and there's plenty of space inside and out. We had pretty much any choice of seating and started with their Festbier & Altbier. For food we shared their Bavarian Pretzel Bites, Pork Schnitzel & their Beer Brat. All of it was excellent - days later and we're still talking about their coleslaw. In a world where breweries have opted for serving pizza, it was a fun change to have German food. If it was closer to where we lived, we'd definitely go back! I'd love to try their smoke brisket sandwich. read more

We visited on an August Thursday. There were a few occupied tables but there was plenty of seating. You order at the bar, pay and they bring your food and drinks. Service was friendly. I ordered the pretzel bites with beer cheese and a barbecue brisket sandwich which included fries. The pretzel bites were warm and soft, the cheese savory. The brisket was smoky and tender, and came with cheese. The fries that accompanied it were outstanding, hot long, and crisp. The Cole slaw was also good including carrot and purple cabbage for a touch of color. La Portena's smoked chicken salad hit the spot, but you don't come here for salad. The honey wheat beer went down nicely. For me this was a solid four stars. read more

A rainy day in Watkins Glen turned into a fun adventure when we decided to take a ride along Seneca Lake and stop at Stag Brewing. What a great choice! The brewery has a large open lawn with plenty of tables, benches, and a variety of games to keep things lively--cornhole, dice games, a safe plastic axe-throwing game, giant connect four outside and various table games inside. It's a perfect spot to relax and hang out, whether with friends, family, or pets. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, especially to our dogs (they even brought out free biscuits, which was such a nice touch). We sampled a flight of their beers and tried the chicken & waffle bites were delicious! The food menu is more "munchies style" but everything we had was fresh and tasty, a great complement to the drinks. Stag Brewing combines a fun, laid-back vibe with good beer, good food, and great hospitality. Highly recommend stopping here if you're exploring Seneca Lake or just looking for a relaxed, pet-friendly brewery experience. read more

Stopped by here on a whim on a Saturday evening, what a neat treat. In an area where all the wineries shut down by 5-6 pm at the latest and you just want a place to relax and have some food and drink for dinner, this spot is perfect. Solid beers and ciders to choose from (definitely recommend the flight option) and excellent snacks to go with them - the taquitos and the fried mashed potatoes were perfect. All at fair prices. They have space inside if you want to cool off with some A/C, but plenty of nice tables outdoors as well - including on the lawn area, with a few games like cornhole. Kids and families were playing and having a good time this last weekend, while a live band kept up the music until at least 9:00 pm. Glad we came, would happily stop by again read more

In a region where menus are filled with fried and premade options this very appealing lunch option. Service was quick and polite. Many seating options in or out of the restored bay barn brewery. On July 14, this was our third brewery stop. Seneca Stag is still relatively new and is not brewing many beers yet. However, they have a relatively good selection of beers from the region. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating is not as expansive as some of the photos make you think. There is plenty of outdoor seating in both shade and sun. The outdoor space would be great for small music events. I've given it three-stars because they are still working on their brewing operations. I look forward to them expanding the number of beers that they brew. Wineries in the Finger Lakes region have wine trail markers. I hope the breweries will advocate for something similar. Those markers could help more people discover the growing number of breweries in the Finger Lakes. read more

My Retired Executive Leadership Team gets together for lunch every month or so, and one of our members recommended we go here. Honestly I had never heard of this place, but with her recommendation we went. It was terrific, limited lunch menu as you might expect, but a large appetizer menu. We all chose sandwiches and thoroughly enjoyed our food. The restaurant is in an old barn, which has been remodeled. You order at the counter, but they deliver the food. Several tried their beer as well. Also quite good. The place is clean and friendly. A good location for our RELT lunch. read more

Pretzels with beer/cheese sauce was delicious. Pretzels were huge, and soft and easily tore into bits to be dipped. I ordered the fish fry dinner, and wife ordered the smash burger. The fish was a big portion with delicious coleslaw and homemade chips. The smash burger with chips and coleslaw was juicy and the bacon jam really elevated the meal. If you are looking for a family and pet friendly place to stop for a quick bit and a cold brew- this is perfect. A large lawn with umbrellas and picnic tables and plenty to do for the littles with lawn games. Tucked in the back was a doggy rest area with waste bags. Our lunch: The coconut shrimp with Piña colada sauce was outstanding. light and fluffy breading and the sauce? Wow! We tried the farmers hand pies. Hubby had the buffalo wing which was great and I had the spinach and artichoke which was excellent. A side of the Beer Pretzels was a treat and the cheese sauce again- fantastic. We were informed all the food is made by hand. Beer-There own German Style Lager was decent. The Mexican Lager was very nice on a warm day. We search for pet friendly places on bring Fido and a couple other sites because we often travel with a pair of Havanese pups. Seneca Stag was not listed. I will making sure it is! read more

This is a fledgling brewery with plenty of sweat equity to make a beautiful space with comfort and views. The old converted hay barn is converted for seating including a loft. Many farm relics decorate the interior. The outside is also spacious and is mostly fenced in. There is also ample parking. Ask about fish fry night.. it's very popular. My husband, brother in law, sister in law, and I came here on a Friday afternoon in the fall. We were quickly greeted by the bartender and we were able to select our seating, a high top table in the corner. The building looked fairly new, with a rustic, outdoors feel. I was unable to try the beer but everyone had samplers and the pumpkin feature had a sugar rim, while the fruity (I think cranberry?) beer smelled as if Christmas was around the corner! We ordered the pretzel bites and the loaded potato chips. Beer cheese was featured on both items and though I don't typically like cheese sauces/dips, it was quite tasty! The pretzel bites were pretty small bit the chips? The best homemade chips I have ever had! Overall, this was a great find. The outdoor area looks great for summertime and they often have live music. I am blown away by this place and extremely happy to have them nearby my dad's cottage! It's safe to say my family has found one of our new favorite hangouts. First of all, they are dog friendly. The dogs are allowed inside and on the patio. They have dogs as well. They have a huge lawn with brew bag and other lawn games. Then they also have a gorgeous patio with tables. Oh! And the staff is incredibly friendly too! They don't brew their own beers but have a large assortment of beers from local breweries. For example, I got an Ithaca Apricot. To top all of this off, their bar food is dynamite and all prices are reasonable! We shared pretzels with beer cheese (those are heavy so you need less than you think)., chicken and waffle bites, and loaded potato chips. It's hard to pick a fave but I've never seen chicken and waffles done this way and they are a must have!! All I can say is don't miss out on this place. read more

Solid food, solid beer, friendly staff. I stopped in when I had a couple hours to kill, and enjoyed the WiFi (it took them a bit to dig out the password) and comfy environs. I had the veggie and pizza empanadas, which were probably not super-authentic (much shinier than I'm used to), but were definitely tasty, and a very generous side serving of mac and cheese ($4) which was the size of a main most places. The mac and cheese was not life-changing, but I'd say it was above average. They had six to eight beers on tap, and when I suggested that I wasn't up for six four-ounce tasters, they happily served me a couple of eight-ounce pours of delicious K2 sour, and what seemed to me (definitely not an authority) like a pretty reasonable marzen. Nothing bad could be said about this brewery. I've spoken with the owner/brewer a few times and he is super nice and knowledgeable. I've also interacted with his mother and other employees there and they are all so nice and helpful. His brown ale is to die for and my wife loves his festbier. Food menu has quite a variety. Good music, but I would like to see a DJ system to pick music like TouchTunes without ads. Looking forward to coming back in the Spring to explore the outdoor seating and amenities. This place is not only gorgeous on the inside and out, but serves some of the best food around. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious and they offer a good amount of beer choices that are all outstandin ! My husband and I come here quite often and love it so much that we asked the owner if she would be willing to allow us to have have our son's birthday party here and she graciously agreed.
