Cordia is a wonderful place!…read more Our culture is such that mothers expect to remain in the house of one of their daughters until their death, however my house has stairs and is too dangerous for my mom. She was resistant to being anywhere but with family so moving her to Cordia produced a lot of anxiety for her. Thankfully, the wonderful staff at Cordia - from the lobby workers to the maintenance workers to the amazing dining room staff - all worked their magic to make her feel treasured and safe. Personally, I see that the staff at Cordia are very satisfied working with the senior residents there. I engage in conversations with them and am grateful for their kindness and respect for the residents and for each other. Cordia has a wonderful line-up of daily activities and they also have special activities for holidays. I'm super pleased to see my mom engaging in different activities that she never had done before Cordia. For example, I used to try to have her do chair workouts with me but she had always refused. Now at Cordia, she's down in the workout room at least 3 times a week!!! I think Cordia has given her new life! She was always very anxious about food owing to issues with onions and other spices, but has had no problems at all since at Cordia. She loves their food! I'm very, very pleased with Cordia. A couple of signs that this place is above and beyond are that the staff knows old fashioned civility, they greet with proper formality, titles plus last names rather than assuming a rude first name interaction without permission or introduction. Second important good sign is excellent entertainment ("social enrichment ") like guest college professor lectures from College of DuPage, music performances, craft classes and such. Nice auditorium with good AV and qualified tech swrvices. Dining facilities are good. The care level seems more than adequate and unlike other places like this they don't seem to suffer from any shortage. I think they can handle a range of function a d disability levels so it would be a good choice to move in with expectations of later levels of health decline.

They are older, spent time in the hospital and are now here. They cannot get around themselves and we have tried to be there to help as much as possible, taking them into the general area for meals, getting them dressed. The rehab is going well but the other care has a lot to be desired. I've recently has surgery on my shoulder so I cannot help move or push a wheelchair. If I ask for help, no one has time. I stepped out for lunch hoping that that would prompt someone to take the opportunity to get them in a wheelchair and go into lunch. Nope- food tray to the room. This poor person will not be out of the bed today because no one has time and i physically can't do it. Do better... being under staffed is a country wide problem, but lack of care is not excusable. I live next to their property and our association board meetings are held at Belmont Village. So I see a lot between having them as neighbors and being inside their facility on a regular basis. When you walk in the front door you enter a large lobby with a large grand and player piano in it. You are greeted by a full time staff person located at the front entrance. The staff is professional and very friendly. The restaurant is located at the rear of the lobby. It is very eloquent and serves up great looking meals. The residents always look happy and well cared for. The grounds and facility are well maintained and the interior is immaculate. Outside there are flower gardens, gazebo and a walking path. My mother was cared for in a facility like this for many years so I know what to compare to. This one is above the rest in my opinion. If the need every arose in the future for myself, I would be excited to live there as well.

She was placed under hospice care right after we moved her into the Robin's Nest. Then, the care provided by Dr. Ross and her professional caregivers, kept her alive and over time she improved. She gained strength and was taken off hospice care. She enjoyed the personal care provided and the other new friends she met. She became a welcomed member in the family of ladies that resided there. She loved her new "home." Dr. Ross has created an upscale senior living concept that exceeds anything that you find in any of Chicago's Senior Care facilities. The intimate homelike atmosphere, the family style dining and entertainment, provided my Mom with a comfortable way to enjoy her later life. The Robin's Nest is an excellent alternative to the dormitory style nursing homes that exist today. Over time, Mom's heart grew weaker and finally failed on the 4th of July this year. Capital immediately provided equipment, hospice nursing, medication and a twenty-four call line. We are so grateful for the attention of care that Mom and the family was provided- even a visiting Chaplain on the morning of Mom's passing.
