I usually go just to hike and enjoy the views. What I like is that the trail is always clean with clear signs on where to walk up which creates a safe hike. There are different levels of difficulty of trails so you can either select a moderate trail or challenging one. There is a large grass area where you can sit and enjoy a picnic or take a walk around the lake.

Very kids/toddler-friendly. The sizeable shallow end has several sprinklers/splash fountains for children to play in, and there are slides on both the kiddie and adult sides. Also a playground in the back (not affiliated with the pool). There are always many life guards on duty every time I've gone. The pool is accessible only to Clarkstown residents and their guests, so if you're not a resident befriend someone who is. You must obtain a Clarkstown resident ID card first at the registration office at 31 Zukor Road in New City. (The pool won't simply accept a driver's license.) Rates can be either daily or seasonal for individuals or family, and are very reasonable compared to similar community pools.

It's no exaggeration that these monsters from the deep probably kept a legion of child psychiatrists in full time employment. On a recent visit it was nice to see that the previous snake-ridden den of iniquity has long been been replaced with a legitimate pool and that the mythological beasts of years past have been slayed by chlorine and actual cement walls. You can even see right to the bottom. What a concept. This is what Nanuet Lake should have been like all along... no thanks whatsoever to my parents who thought this was some tough love version of Shangri La, albeit minus the all consuming bliss one often finds in paradise. I kid about my parents (almost) and am happy to bestow five easy stars for a childhood reclaimed. I still hate snakes.

However, if you come on a weekday the waterslide is closed. The pool area is 5 stars on weekends. However, the bar/cafe opens late on weekdays. They don't permit you to bring any outside food or beverages in but they also don't sell any on weekdays. I asked if I could have room service bring food and drink to the pool and I was told no. So if you're looking to enjoy the pool and a drink, make sure to do it in a weekend.

Todays visit to the Community Center in Syosset Woodbury Park had an Hour long Holiday Magic…read morepresentation by the Silver Songbirds. ( see pix) For those who might be using a GPS be aware once entering the park to make aright turn and follow to the back parking lot where the Center is. The group was lead by Susan Lilli's - Conductor & Narrator. They sang a variety of holiday songs and did a few skits, also handing out candy canes to the audience. "Nancy" played the drum for " Little drummer boy". They ended with "Auld Lang Syne wishing the audience good holidays and Happy New Year. In the back there were a few snacks for the sharing. The building itself has some children's decor, a display of wall tiles and a little Christmas tree in the hall.

Designed for probably no more than 18-20 people, at first glance it looks like a big hot tub or trampoline in the River. In some ways it's a bit of both. You'll find it by meandering your way past the parking lot, beyond the sand volleyball courts, and past the basketball court to the aluminum ramp at the north edge of the park overlooking the bridge. Thankfully, the aluminum ramp means you don't need to climb sharp rocks or weed through lillypads to get into the water, instead you just walk right into the little rainbow colored plastic pool ring and land on a nylon netting that prevents you from walking on river mud. On a hot August day, it's a refreshing way to cool off and enjoy the park. You'd think that would make it busy, but in the prime afternoon heat on a Saturday, there were only 6 people in the pool, with a couple parents on the sidelines. Just in case you need a bit of privacy before getting in the pool, there are porta potties and even a curtained changing area. So many conveniences, and all without park fees. A gem for families in Beacon and for visitors who want to expand their stay beyond Dia and Main St. Bonus tip: go on Sunday and make a picnic from vendors at the local farmer's market on the river dock.

It's split between single lanes and a wider section for open swim during scheduled times. Lessons and classes are offered during the day for babies up through seniors. This can impact open swim so it's best to check out times available. Information can be found on their website and Facebook page. They have various membership options and also allow drop ins for $10 a day per adult. There are locker rooms and a family changing room. There are bleachers and chairs for observers and a cute outdoor pool deck area when it's warm. The staff has always been polite when we go and are willing to answer questions about lessons and other things. There are weekend events such as family swim party and BBQs. Overall a nice place to go and swim for a bit without a huge cost to be a guest.

Spoke to two and was underwhelmed by the responses and overwhelmed by the estimated costs. And then upon a recommendation I called Swim King. Dennis Galderisi answered the phone and from his the very first words my anxiety came down. Dennis was absolutely great. He clearly knows everything to know about pools and he answered my many questions with tremendous patience. He addressed my cost concerns by suggesting a tailored maintenance approach to how we will use the pool and suggested a number of ways we could do some of the basics and save money. His approach and manner felt sincere and honest. My next step is to get to his store and meet him in person. I am comfortable that I have found a pool professional who I can trust.

I understand if their client roster is full but the way they communicated was really smug. I told them I live less than a five minute drive away and the guy said "our cut off is a 4 minute drive." Ok guy. We ended up buying overpriced supplies from them anyway and our pool water still went green. Just YouTube it and buy supplies off Amazon.
