The hair cut itself came out good. I think. The cut itself was very rushed, it made me feel like mistakes were going to be made. I trusted the quick process and internally panicked. I'm not a hairstylist so I wouldn't be able to point out the mistakes, if any. Lol. Regardless it looks fine. I just wish she'd at least taken 45 min. Polly said next time let her know I want wash, cut, and that I have a lot of hair. That's what I'll do because I want to give them a second try. Edit two: I said long layers and curtain bangs. I rarely leave reviews -- and when I do, it's either a 5-star or a 1-star. But if I could give this salon a zero, I absolutely would. I came in for a consultation hoping to get some guidance, but the experience was incredibly disappointing from the start. The owner was not friendly -- in fact, she was noticeably rude and dismissive during our entire conversation. Instead of listening to what I wanted, she constantly talked over me and acted as if I should already understand everything about hair color like a professional stylist. I showed her my inspiration photo on my phone, and instead of politely asking to take a closer look, she snatched it right out of my hand and walked away without a word to view it under different lighting. I found that completely disrespectful. Needless to say, I chose not to book an appointment. The energy was unwelcoming, the attitude was unnecessary, and the entire experience was a major red flag. I called to ask if they specialized in A-line bob cuts and they said yes and I came over ASAP. I previously called another hair salon and they told me that they didn't know how to cut A-line bob and I said thank you for your honesty. This place was another option and I guess, if you need a certain haircut, it is best to ask the hair salon if they can do it. A lot of places cannot or have ruined my hair. I recommend this place for BOB CUTs. This is the best one that I've found in Vallejo so far. Avoid Super Cuts in Vallejo. She cut my hair so fast it. I told her to clean out my growing bob cut that I got from Kenny Le Salon. She improved it a lot. Polly was the one who cut my hair. I will be coming back. I highly recommend Polly for a haircut. I've been going to Polly for about 15 years now way before when she had her own hair salon business. She was nice, knowledgeable, funny, gave me tips on how to care for my thin brittle curly hair. My hair is straight, healthy looking and she gave me a cut since we had to chop a lot of the damaged hair. Between Polly and her employee working on my hair, the three hours it took flew by quickly. Polly really knows how to cut my hair. I show her a picture & she's finished in 30 minutes or less. I have gone to other salons or hairstylists who charge $55+ & so I really appreciate Polly & Sense Salon for the $30 price for a haircut. I have never left disappointed. Too pricey for it's quality. I got charged 200 for a simple black color with few highlight(less than half). I thought that was bad...when I got home I realized it was also patchy. They did a half job when applying the black dye on blonde hair (didn't apply any type of base) so now it's fading back to blonde. read more

I've been loyal to the Sense for 7+ years. I'd go here for my annual hair cut and balayage color, however, things have changed and that won't be the case anymore. Sense Salon moved to an inconvenient part of Vjo and most of their skilled stylists have left. I've been to the new location twice since they moved. My first experience at the new spot was okay, but the last one? Damn it was not a pleasant one. I came in wanting a hair cut and new color. My hair was already treated with red semi-permanent hair dye; I wanted to see if it was possible to change it to another color other than red, brown or black. The owner of the salon was the one who took care of me. The hair cut took less than 20 minutes, but the coloring process was a pain in the asssk, literally. I was in the chair for 3+ hours(11am-2:30pm), I developed sore spots from being seated for so long. First step was to attempt to remove the red with a color lifter, then we would decide what to do from there. The owner and her partner applied the creme, saran wrapped me up and placed a hot assk rotating halo on me. Meanwhile, she moved on to help another clients with hair cuts. I baked under the circle for about 20-30 mins with my scalp hot as 'he'll' and then they brought me over to the sink to wash it out. Evidently, the lifter did not work due to me previously redyeing my hair continuously red; it stained my hair. After the lifting process, I was brought back to the chair and the owner started 'touching up' my balayage with bleach near the crown of my head and the surrounding areas. I was foiled up and placed back under the circular heater. Meanwhile, the owner decided to eat and check her phone. I baked again, for another 20-30 mins and brought over to the sink to get washed up. The next step, which, I was unaware of was the final step, the coloring. The owner started putting in a color that she didn't review over with me. It was applied throughout my reddish pale hair and was left to wait another 30+ mins. After the time was up, I went to the wash and sat back down at my usual chair. The owner's partner proceeded to dry and shape my hair with the round brush. Simultaneously, as she was doing that I was thinking, is this it? Am I done? I ain't feelin it, will there be another dyeing process with the color of my choosing??! But I've already been in the chair was soo long.. Once the lady was done drying I asked if this was the final process and she didn't quite understand me because she didn't really speak english. She called over the owner and I asked if I was done. She said that yeah we can't do anything else about your hair. I wanted to see if she could just put purple dye or blue dye in it, but she said no. She told me to either dye it red or darker, or wait for your hair to grow out and come back in a year to try to get a different color. Disappointing. The final process was not even a color that I wanted. My hair color looked better before it was lifted and dyed with her color. $180 + tip for a cut and a color I didn't even want. Money well spent. After I left, I noticed streaks of bleached hair on the side of my head and later on, near my crown area. I disliked the color so much I had to dye it the next day, despite the owner saying for me not to keep using semi-permanent dyes. I used Manic Panic purple dye to conceal the bad color. TL:DR Disappointed with last experience. Hair cut and color I wasn't happy with. Noticeable bleached hair strands around my head. Paid $180+ for color I didn't like. Had to redye it myself. No clear communication. Owner doesn't listen to what your wants and suggestions. Won't come here again. read more

I'm impatient. I wanted a haircut and I wanted it NOW. And so I came in here for an appointment with whoever and was given Lori. When I heard her name I felt comfortable because of all the great reviews posted already. She is sweet and not loud, gentle and not abrasive. And she listens very well and wants you to be happy :) I flat Ironed my hair before going in (only because THIS is the way I do it, THIS is the way I wear it, and I will never get it Salon Straight... Might as well have it cut the way it will be) and only wanted a cut.. That's all. Just to even out my asymmetrical which I absolutely loved but had outgrown. She took to the challenge very well. After a few extra trimmings to be even.. and then a little layering.. and then some thinning.. I LOVE IT!! And I sent a pic to hubby and he loves it too :D Then off to the threading chair to get my eyebrows threaded for the first time. I cut the line of four and felt a little bad but hey I had been there first.. technically.. and it only took literally 2-3 minutes. Very painless and beautiful. Haircut was $23 and Threading was $10. My daughter got her haircut back in June, but after three months - five days a week swimming at the pool and sun exposure, my daughter's hair was dying and thinning out. I really wanted to get her haircut especially since she starts school on Wednesday. We waited for about 20-25 minutes, but it gave me ample time to figure the best cut for my daughter. When she was ready, Helen sat my daughter down, asked me how we were going to do my daughter's hair (Rihanna inspired) and off she went. Helen was fast and efficient. She got the haircut right on target and I was VERY happy with the results. After, Helen left for some waxing walk-ins, so I had to wait my turn to get my hair done. Kenny helped me and found that it was my lucky day because he rarely gets walk-ins because he gets booked up pretty quickly. I told him that I wanted to cut my bangs, but also soften my hair. I have really thick hair and because of that my hair kind of puffs up in the heat or in general. Apparently my hair is not heavy enough, hence the puff action. Kenny first uses the hair straightener before he cuts and his hands are like magic. He was so quick to style my hair and I was able to get the sleek look that I've been aching to have for ages. I dislike the haircut services from the Asian lady. I think she was the owner. It felt like a worthless Chinatown haircut that you get because it was super cheap. I am never going back to her again. Overall the salon was busy and there are a lot of girls there getting their hair did by anyone else but the owner. I also got my brows threaded by a different lady. She did good but gave me thinner looking brows than I prefer. But I probably mess them up before she got to them. I will defiantly go back to her for my brows. I give her 4 stars. read more

Carisa is ah-mazing!! I'm one of those people who knows nothing about hair and never know what to say to the stylist. Unlike other stylists I've been to, Carisa made me feel so comfortable and I completely let her do what she does best. I got so many nice compliments on my hair, I've been telling everyone to go to her. The salon was very friendly, nice, and clean. They had a good amount of people getting their hair done, so that's how you know it's a good place. Even though it's about a 40 min drive and a toll booth away from me, it was completely worth it. Although intimidated at first because she immediately cut my hair off, I quickly settled in knowing that she knew her stuff. She gave me the exact hair cut that I wanted and was aware of my concerns. Also, she didn't over blow dry and style my hair to the point that I could never re-create it again. I am not a fan when salon stylists do that. Got a great haircut. But I wanted to warn you all about getting your brows threaded here. I'm uploading a picture of my eyebrows. I have a lot of brow hair to work with, as I like them thick and had been growing them out. I asked they be kept thick, but she thinned them out. On top of that, they are uneven. I pointed out how uneven they were and she would thin the other side. They were still uneven, and she wanted to thin them more. I told her no. I didn't want to have her take the whole thing off. I waited a week to write this Review so I could write my honest opinion on a Japanese straight perm I got done . I have Mexican hair wavy & my main issue was just frizziness I could never walk out my house with out having to do something to it. I have long hair the process took like 4hrs and was worth $250 . After the 3rd day of the treatment i washed my hair and let it air dry and my hair was straight and silky not frizzy . It was my first time in this salon and now it will definitely be the one I will regularly be going to can't wait to go back to get some hair treatments. Anyways do your own research on aftercare after you get the perm done .
