Sarah Bailey has been doing my hair for the past 6 years, she is absolutely amazing. Her talent is super versatile, I have had her do traditional color as well as super fun mermaid colors and she does both with the expert hand of an artist. For the past year and a half I have also had her start doing undercuts for me. I have a lot of hair and she designed my undercut to be helpful for me to manage my hair as well as being discreet when I need to have a more traditional look. Sarah was the first person to ever color my hair and I don't have plans to have anyone else do it. Whatever your hair needs Sarah Bailey is the one to go to. I was referred to Kara at Buddahful Salon by a friend with a fabulous haircut. It's about a 15-10 min drive to Benecia, but, it was well worth the trip. Buddahful Salon is tucked in the corner of a building on First Street with a very modest exterior. But, don't let that fool you. The salon is cozy and the staff super friendly. The stylists were professional and focused on their clients. Kara called me to the chair and made sure she was clear about my desired cut & color I wanted before she began. She seemed meticulous, yet, efficient; and I couldn't be more pleased with the result. Moreover, she's a lovely conversationalist. I'm surprised that this salon has nothing but 5 star reviews...I write this review somewhat reluctantly but think I should give my honest assessment of this salon. I have been going to Barbara for a few months now. First time was to correct a bad cut (see my A Lago review) and she did do a fairly good job based on trying to correct it best she could. Next couple times was for a cut and color. Consultations with Barbara could be better - I always feel rushed when trying to explain what I'm looking for. She doesn't offer any suggestions, which I appreciate from people who are in this industry. She often seems harried and comes off as insecure and doesn't exude confidence in her skills. Her haircutting isn't great (and the price reflects that) as I have some weird layers and uneven lengths in a few places. Last time I went in for a color, she asked me what color we did last time - I told her I didn't know and asked her doesn't she keep record of this? She didn't say anything then rushes into the back room to mix the color. Toward the end of the appointment, she mentions something about the color being semi-permanent. This again was not discussed ahead of time and while I am somewhat okay with this, would have been nice to be consulted. I just feel we are not a good match and perhaps she is used to an older clientele (she's one of those that pronounces Benicia as "Bunisha"). :) Also, I don't feel the salon is a friendly environment. No one greets you at the door, offers you anything to drink, etc. Anyway, I will continue my quest to find a competent stylist in this town. read more

I have been getting my hair done for Amy for at least 10 years, and she is amazing! I always get blonde highlights, and she does them perfectly--they look completely natural. I can't tell you how many compliments I get on the color of my hair. Her cuts are fantastic as well--she did a great job with my most recent bob! Most of the time I just throw a last minute idea at her and she always goes with the flow and delivers whatever you are looking for. My sisters always get their hair done with Amy too, and their long, layered cuts always look really nice too. Amy is the owner of Buddahful and she has done such a nice job with the salon--it is clean, classy and RELAXING. I love Amy and would certainly recommend her to anyone. Sarah is amazing! Was scared to find a new place because I'm pretty picky when it comes to my hair. The place I was going wasn't listening to what I wanted and was working on 4 heads at the same time. Last time I left there so unhappy. But then I found this little gem. I'm not completely sold on this salon, but may go back to try 1 more time. They have AWESOME customer service. I called last minute on a Friday, and they squeezed me in early next morning. I had quite a few mishaps that I have never experienced before. However, I went in for a color and mentioned several times it must be shiny and vibrant and left with a dull, matte finish not at all what I asked for. I called back shortly after I left, unhappy and they were VERY ACCOMIDATING. I felt like they worked as a team to correct the errors, Barbara explained she did rush at first to get me out on time but apologized several times and took care of me and made it right the second time around. Although there were several mishaps which I realize things happen that wasn't how I intended to spend the majority of my Saturday. I truly felt like they went over and beyond to make it right, and in my eyes that's what GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE is all about. All in All I would try again since the ladies were all great, just be very clear on what you expect. Stacy K. This is my first time writing a yelp review. I've been coming to Buddahful Salon for about 6 months and have finally found "my place" for hair care. I tried a couple of other places when I moved to Benicia but never really found a place that I loved until I made my first appointment at Buddahful Salon. As you walk in the salon feels so peaceful, comfortable and relaxing. I've never had a chance to sit in the outside water garden because I always have evening appointments, but I've heard it is very nice too. All the staff are warm and friendly. I see Amy Pappas (the owner) and am always very pleased with my look when I leave the salon (I get color every month and highlights every couple of months). She's a good listener and offers great suggestions for your cut, color style. Amy is easy going and lots of fun to chat with so I really look forward to my monthly night out at the salon. The waiting area is comfy and has a good selection of magazines; though I've never had to wait for more than a couple of minutes for my appointment. Judy Hough at Buddahful Salon is the most amazing hair stylist on the planet! Yesterday I was grocery shopping and a young woman (at least 30 years my junior) said that she loved my hair and asked where I had it done. I of course gave her Judy's contact information. Judy "knows my hair" and consistantly does a fabulous job cutting and highlighting it. You never have to wait for your appointment as she is always on time. And the salon is WONDERFUL...clean and relaxing with great background music. The stylists are all friendly and seem to really help and support each other. My first yelp because Buddahful Salon and Ashley are so FAB! Been cutting my own hair for 15 years because of so many 'average' haircuts costing $$$$ and my cuts were as good as the pro's were doing. Time to trust the pro's again so when my wife came home looking like a super model after her first trip to Buddahful (Ashly did her cut too) I begrudgingly made the appt...I brought pictures with me of what I wanted and she NAILED it. I am so happy!!! I look 5 years younger, feel more confident and it's so easy to 'do'. I have fine, thin hair and it always looked like it had been dipped in plastic after spraying the hell out of it with my beloved "AquaNet". I will NEVER stop using my "AquaNet" but some how my hair looks natural after spraying now. She is a magician. Love the Salon too. Beautifuly decorated, friendly and fun owner. Prices are fantastic.
