If you love the tapas scene this is a great place to add to your list of places to visit. There were quite a few people waiting for table but as we were a party of two we managed to secure a table rather quickly. The waitress was very busy but was super courteous and took the time to answer the questions that we had - between our Spanish and her English we made it work out. Love the prices of the drinks as they are very fair. The tapas prices seem a bit steep until you see the presentation and taste them at which time it is clear that they are worth the price. Some of the recommendations are the Iberico ham, the ceviche, the croquettes, and the seafood paella. Highly recommended.

This is one place, I can say with full confidence, that the reviews and star ratings are Spot On. We came to Sensi Mezzanine for dinner (6 of us) and walked into moderate noise levels, a warm welcoming atmosphere and soft lighting. The table setting lures you in. They have an excellent wine selection with friendly and attentive staff, as well. Now for the deets: -The poached egg with shaved ham and wild mushrooms - yum -Hindu style shrimp - absolutely tasty -Duck confit - was a level below the rest but very tasty still -Mussels were delectable - The mini burger with foie gras, don't think twice, just get it - Octopus, the best I've had in Barcelona this far. Well prepared and the flavors were wonderful. - Truffle ravioli in parmesan cream was absolutely tasty As for dessert: -Chocolate fondant -Dulce de leche cheesecake -Homemade tiramisu Get all three. You won't be sorry. If you get a chance, definitely stop by for a bite to eat! It's a definite 4.5 star but did not want to drop them to a 4 (only because the poached egg was a little on the colder side than what I would have liked, but it still tasted great regardless)

If you want decent food with a side of being ignored, go here! This review needs writing now, since I'm still livid from last night. I tried to go to the regular Sensi but even the bar was booked up for a few hours. The host suggested nearby Sensi Mezzanine since it has two floors and more seating, so I gave it a shot. I was seated at the bar upstairs and at first I liked the place: cozy, mood lighting, interesting menu. Right away though, things seemed a bit off. The menu said to ask a server about their cocktails of the day. When I asked the bartender, he had no idea, so he asked a waitress. She gave sort of an exasperated/annoyed look and didn't really answer. So he just told me "uh, a mojito maybe?" I gave up and ordered a sangria, which was perhaps the most flavorless sangria I've ever had. I studied the menu and picked out a couple tapas to start with, along with one or two more to possibly add if I was still hungry. It took a while, but the waitress eventually took my order. Right after I ordered, a semi-regular (?) showed up with his two friends and sat at the bar with me. Almost immediately, they had drinks, then apps, then actual hot tapas! Meanwhile, I'm starving after flying into the city earlier in the evening and still nothing. Based on my time stamps on photos from when I sat down until I actually got my first item, it was about 45 minutes. It was also SUCH an inconvenience for my waitress to step away from chatting to just get a glass of wine. My dish, the Catalan casserole, was already starting to get cool by the time I received it so I'm guessing it was sitting ignored for a bit. It was basically scalloped potatoes with some Spanish sausage strewn in and topped with cheese; tasty enough, but it would have been better when the cheese layer was fresh out of the oven. Since that dish took a while, I tried ordering one more item to speed things up and hoped that it might come out with the second. Meanwhile, the guys were on their 3rd round of drinks and hot food, while the waitress and manager (?) fussed over them. My second tapa, squid and chorizo, arrived almost 1/2 hour later. At this point, I was pissed and told the server who brought it to cancel my other item and bring me the check. He looked worried, ran off. The bartender asked if I wanted bread to go with the sauce-y dish. TWICE. I said no, and also asked him for the check. Finally, the blonde waitress left her buddies to check on me and I asked her for the check. THAT'S 3X. She brought it to me and GUESS WHAT THEY HAD THE NERVE TO ADD?!? Yup, the bread! I'm glad I checked and I mock-sweetly pointed out I didn't have any bread and made her take the €1 charge off. Petty, but they weren't getting any extra money from me. They gave me the restaurant's usual limoncello farewell shot, which I finished then took off. I haven't really had problems with service in Europe in many years. This experience illustrates exactly why I think tipping culture actually works; without the incentive, some awful servers don't put in any effort. So with Sensi Mezzanine, if you're not a large, loud bachelorette party (there were a couple) or obnoxiously buddy-buddy with the staff, don't bother. There are far too many good places to eat with excellent service in Barcelona to waste your time here

Tempura zucchini and tomato bread

Another example of incredible, informal dining in Barcelona! Even the tomato bread is interesting! We also had cod prepared with coconut milk, spices and a lovely piece of shrimp. The first item on the menu is traditional tapas - poached egg with ham and mushrooms. Tuna was seared and prepared in Asian fusion fashion. Eggplant Parmesan was deconstructed, very easy on cheese and a bit sweet from the peppers. Tempura zucchini stuffed with goat cheese and a sweet glaze. Very interesting combinations. Fun food. Go there! Super informal dining with friendly service.

This place is so good! Small seating area but just enough to feel at home and very fancy at the same time. I loved all of the flavors in their tapas and the drinks are not expensive at all. We had 4 sangrias plus multiple tapas.

Super delicious and great prices! For the presentation, quality and taste, my husband and I were very pleased with our meal here. We ordered the tapas risotto, mussels, squid, and shrimp, all of them spectacular! The service was very nice and ambiance busy (but in a good way). We went there on a Tuesday night and got a table right away. Would definitely visit again next time in Barcelona!

Octopus
Julia H.

If I could give 6 stars, I would. Best meal I had in Barcelona. The service was excellent, the ambience warm, and the food was out of this world delicious. I highly highly recommend the octopus, the seafood paella, and the chicken thigh. The octopus was perfectly cooked and a generous portion. The paella was perfectly seasoned and full of seafood. And the chicken - crispy skin, tender meat, with a lovely sauce. And each was only 7-8€! Each plate was beautifully presented. Come - you won't regret it.

Beautiful and smart girl.

Our hotel recommended this place. We love every single dish we ordered. Friendly service we ordered all the seafood on the menu please some meat and tinny hamburger.

We thought this place was amazing! The staff were attentive but not annoying- friendly and always checked back with us. But the food, oh the food! We are tired if the standard tapas fair - the originally here was fabulous. And prices were great - it felt like a place the locals would go to. We very much enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend the tuna, traditional cabbage roll if it's in the menu. Thank you for squeezing us in, Hans - reservations recommended! What an enjoyable experience!

Mini burgers and mushroom cream are both very good!

The ceviche, truffle ravioli, and pork loin are show stoppers. We came back every day to this spot.

Very flavorful and fast experience. Oxtail and mashed potatoes 10/10: the oxtail meet is so tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes pair so well with the oxtail. Mushroom, steak, and egg yolk 9/10: soo flavorful and balance of veggies and protein. Amazing textures and flavors. Sparkling sangria: 8/10 I don't normally live the taste of alcohol but this was great. Not tooooo strong and if tastes pretty good if you mix it with the orange juice. Fresh orange juice: 10/10 so tangy and delicious. I can't recommend it enough. Patatas bravas: 9/10 solid no complaints! Dessert Tapas: - bread dessert (Tarija): 11/10 amazing dessert that is creamy, cameralized, and has a mochi like texture. This fried chewy dessert is not too sweet and such an affordable price. - coconut pudding 9/10 solid and refreshing if you like flan - bread, chocolate oil, salt 7/10: I live the complex flavors. The chocolate mousse was light and the bread to mousse ratio was perfect. It's a smaller dessert tho I wouldn't recommend it if ur sharing. Service: amazing! Staff I'm everywhere so it was very easy to order more food. Also we were sitting buy the area where they made dessert and they allowed me to record them making it!! Comfortable ambiance great for date night or casual meals!!!

Not only was his service incredible, but he also gave us amazing recommendations for our upcoming trip to Buenos Aires in two weeks. The food was hands-down our best meal in Barcelona. Every dish felt authentic and full of flavor. Our favorites were the accordion-style baked potato topped with creamy aioli and spicy sauce, and the truffle brie toast, which was completely out of this world. To top it all off, the meal ended with a shot of local acorn liquor as we toasted Jordi, our other server, which also made the whole experience feel so special. The inside of this place js small but has great decor, you feel like your stepping back into medieval times. It's perfectly at home in the gothic quarter. I had the bread to start with the tomato spread, this was very good. The spicy potato was phenomenal, a smothered baked potato in a nice blend of sauces. Then the sea bass and prawns in a coconut milk based soup...the star. Reminded me of a Thai Tom Kha soup. Overall would highly recommend. If I ever return to Barcelona, I will stop in.
