The waiting area is large and comfortable. the last time I went, we drove up to a platoon of First Atlantic Restoration vans. We learned that there had been a bad water leak. All outpatients were being sent to the nearby Brock Cancer Center. Lab & Check in personnel from Leigh had also been moved over to the detour location. When we drove up yesterday the front doors were blocked. There was a large sign pointed south that read entrance. We drove around the building and found no entrance. On the way back a person was walking down the sidewalk. She pointed us to the one door that could be entered. It was obstructed from easy view by the large entrance detour sign. Walking in I found so much completely different. One was first sent through security, which had never been in the lobby of Leigh. My purse was searched before I went through a scanner. The front area, which was previously a nice large entrance and desk, was now covered in plywood. The employees have always been nice and friendly. I was called back into the lab just as I finished registration. My regular bloodwork was done quickly and I prepared to leave. Sitting down in the main lobby I texted my ride that I was done. Of course I took a few pictures. When I picked up my purse I glanced at my arm. Blood was pouring out from the bandaid that covered what is normally just a needle prick. It was all over my arm, hand and shirt. Stunned, I finally moved when the really nice Security guy told me I'd better go back to the lab, Returning to the checkin area I asked if they could buzz me back in. They also stood there stunned before one asked if I had just had lab work done. When I affirmed they finally took action. The same person who drew my blood cleaned me up & used a big wrap around bandage on my arm. She said she had thought it would be fine. I really expected more of an apology. Thinking back I did remember that she had the drawer open a little longer than usual deciding what to use. Did she use the wrong size needle? Now I'm a little worried about the level of staff experience, which I've always counted on before. Even though the bandage was tight I was afraid to take it off until last night. I'm a regular at bloodwork and IV's. I have absolutely no problem with needles or having blood drawn. But today the inside of my arm looks like someone slit it with a knife. There's at least a one inch line where there should be an almost imperceptible prick or some bruising. I'm really debating as to whether I should change my preference for lab work.

My son was taken to CHKD after having a seizure and every single person that took care of him was…read moreamazing. He was seen in the Emergency Department, the Pediatric ICU, and in the in-patient Neuroscience unit, along with being seen by doctors in Endocrinology. Every single person, from the nursing care partners, to the nurses to the doctors and specialists, were fully engaged in his treatment and care. They provided regular updates on his status and the treatments he was receiving. Their professionalism and dedication made this scary experience much easier to deal with and I was confident that my son was receiving the best care possible. In addition to the amazing medical staff, the rest of the CHKD staff was very helpful and attentive as well, to include the dietary specialists, the intake registration, the janitorial staff, the Chaplain, the pharmacy and the integrative care team. I've never had such a positive medical experience in my life and I really want to thank CHKD for helping my son through this difficult situation.

Once I passed the background check, I was given a parking pass valid for the next few days. I parked in the parking garage as instructed by my nieces husband. I got turned around the first time, and it took a little extra time to find the maternity ward. But the next time it was easier and I never got lost again lol. On one of my visits, I walked through the oldest structure on campus which was the original hospital built in 1827. This is the oldest military hospital in the US. It still had the original stone exterior (outsise of original hospital) which had been closed in with hallways surrounding it. I checked out some cool paintings throughout the hospital. I learned a lot of history by reading the captions of the paintings. This biulding was turned into an administrative building. The campus was huge! And very pretty as it sits on the bank of the Chesapeake Bay. There was lots of green space which was beautiful.

On June 1, 2026, at approximately 11:00 p.m., I overheard a conversation involving a female nurse,…read morea male nurse, and MORRISONPONCE, DAPHNE PILAR, MD, regarding a male patient. The discussion appeared to involve the patient's private medical information and was conducted in a manner that sounded more like gossip than a legitimate clinical discussion. Before the physician became involved in the conversation, the female and male nurses referred to the patient by name and appeared to access or review his medical chart while discussing him. During the conversation, they discussed details of his medical condition, treatment history, and other information that appeared to come directly from his medical record. The female nurse stated that the patient had arrived at the hospital earlier that morning, between approximately 9:00 and 10:00 a.m., because antibiotics previously prescribed by Sentara Hospital were not improving his strep throat. She further stated that the patient had remained in the waiting room for approximately seven hours and discussed delays related to his testing and/or retesting for strep throat. The nurse also mocked the patient for crying and becoming emotional while seeking care for his worsening condition. The tone of the discussion appeared dismissive and disrespectful toward the patient and his medical concerns. Additionally, the female nurse stated that she had not documented everything that had been discussed or communicated regarding the patient's condition in his medical chart. The statement was made in the context of discussing the patient's care and raised concerns about whether relevant information had been omitted from the medical record. The conversation further suggested that concerns raised by the patient may not have been fully reflected in the chart, potentially affecting the evaluation and timeliness of his care. The fact that the patient was identified by name, that his chart appeared to be accessed and discussed outside the context of direct patient care, and that multiple healthcare professionals participated in the conversation raises serious concerns regarding patient confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with healthcare privacy standards. The statements regarding prolonged waiting times, delayed testing, and incomplete documentation also raise concerns about the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of the care provided.

They whirled her away & wouldn't let me even talk to her. I will definitely be filing a complaint because their sign clearly says an exception can be made in this instance. Who knows what they are doing to her back there? She is all alone & I'm sure she is afraid. I HATE THIS HOSPITAL! I asked the nurse guarding the front door to speak to a manager over her & another nurse came out being of NO ASSISTANCE & blaming Covid for all of this. I really don't care. I only care about THEIR SIGN which shows the exception that I clearly meet. How do you take someone who has a memory issue away from the 1 person that cares for ALL of her needs? They told me if the dr needs to talk to me, HE will call ME. WTF??? They are back they asking her a million questions, I'm sure. She is going to get flustered and upset, causing her to have even more of a medical issue than the one I brought her here for today. This place has no clue how to handle the elderly or their families during this Covid epidemic. I will never bring her here again & I'm filing a complaint everywhere I can. 8/24/20: Updating after my family member's discharge & have updated the rating because of the communication I've had with the nurse and case manager. My family member was very distraught not being able to communicate with me while in ER, but as soon as she was placed in a room, the nursing staff their helped her call. I don't know why the people are so nasty compared to the ones who handle inpatient stays, but I appreciate them trying to help her. Feeling defenseless while in physical pain is not something I wish on anyone. I'm glad she is going to be on & is back with me. I still would think a million times before bringing her back to this hospital's ER.

She was taken to a hospital 3.5 hours from her home…read more For two and a half weeks the hospital case worker and myself worked with the admissions staff to have my mom admitted for rehab. During this time, Lake Taylor provided a list of check boxes that needed to be completed before they could take her. Everytime we checked all the boxes, they added another requirement. After tons of work and time on both my part and the case manager, Lake Taylor informed us yesterday they could not accept my mom. This was an extreemly frustrating process. To go through all of this and be told they don't have a bed is just not right. I feel as if they just didn't want my mom. There was very little communication except to tell us they needed more information and they couldn't take my mom. I can't say what the care is like, but if it is anything like the admissions department, I wouldn't recommend it.

Sometimes the gates are raised and you won't have to pay for parking. Otherwise they can validate it if you have an appointment. You have to go through security and then check in at the desk. The imaging center was towards the front by Subway. They have a separate waiting area for your family to wait. It's pretty open in there with a TV to watch and lots of seating. It's nice that they have the Subway inside, but they do close early. The staff were all friendly. They took me to a room to change and gave me a locker with a key. The MRI room can feel a little intimidating. I'm claustrophobic so I'd recommend taking an anxiety med before going. Your doctor can prescribe one prior to your appointment. The process took about an hour, so be prepared to be inside the MRI machine for a bit. You will hear strange sounds and it's tight in there. But it's really not that bad. Ask for the mirrored glasses so you can see outside of the machine, so you don't freak out. Also you have to be still, but expect everything you never expected to itch, to start as soon as they strap you in. Lol. But the procedure went well, the staff was accommodating and friendly, and I recommend them for your MRI needs!!

I was admitted for surgery on March 3 and discharged on March 4 th. Dr Justin Marc Milligan and his…read moreincredible team took care of my every need. This was a process that started in June 2025. Because of my medical history every precaution was taken to ensure I'd be safe and I would be able to tolerate the invasive procedure. I think I flew through this surgery because of all the precautions and preparation of Dr. Milligan. Every single person I encountered at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital was kind, caring, knowledgeable, I felt completely safe while my nurses Nia and Gwen continuously monitored my BP fluctuations. Martin was very kind. Tyler explained everything that was done during the surgery and the reason it was done. The Nurses assistant was fantastic. He assisted me in getting up, dressed, etc and not once did I feel awkward. The PT team was great also. I was able to get to the bathroom with minimal assistance but with safe guards to be sure I didn't fall or injure myself in any way. Overall I couldn't have asked for a more perfect surgery experience. Right down to the food. It was delicious and I ate as much of it as I possibly could. I'm sure I emptied out their ice machine! They kept me supplied with as much as I felt I needed for recovery!! Thank you to all of you!
